    Ok so i just did this on my Honda! I kept the wheel on and just turned it to the side! I took off about 3 plastic tabs and only 2 went back on, the other was so brittle and old it broke!! It was very hard to twist it with my hand in an awkward position but ONE BIG HELPFUL HINT!! UNPLUG THE CONNECTOR BEFORE YOU TWIST THE BULB OFF! IT MAKES IT ALOT EASIER WITHOUT THE HARNESS IN THE WAY! Overall thanks for the advice man....Now i can drive my car at night again and feel more safe! 👍

      The fasteners were so brittle on mine most broke too. Now I’m having a hard time getting the new fasters back in place because some are different sizes. Any advice on how to re-attach the plastic liner?

    If anyone sees this,instead of removing the wheel,you ca just turn it all the way to the right.It’ll give you enough space to remove the fender clips

    You're going to give my buddy Chris Fix a run for his money. Your video was clear enough to see all the steps, in order to do the installation properly. And then showing the LED versus incandescent bulb on the garage door was really good to show the difference between the two beam patterns.

    Looks good from brightness standpoint. However, my concern is those few extra inches up on the led beam may be equal to shining in the external rear view mirror and straight into the driver's face. Furthermore, the illumination to the left is at an angle instead of a straight line. In other words, the horizon line is not horizontal and goes up the farther it moves away from the center. I therefore suspect it will potentially shine into oncoming drivers.
    On another note, i like how u shined halogen and led together for comparison., an installer can use that to adjust the LED bulb to the correct height.

    Good video on how to replace the bulb. I don't mean to damper your enthusiasm and hard work, however, unfortunately you goofed by not re-aiming your head lights. In the video at 4:53 you compare the beam from the new bulb versus the beam fromthe old "factory" bulb and explained that the higher beam of the LED on the LH side of the garage door is due to being new. The original halogen bulb on the RH side is most likely aimed correctly. I have a Honda Accord Sedan 2009 and even just eye balling it your new LED bulb is aimed too high.
    Two points: (1) most LED bulbs do not have the LEDs in the EXACTLY the same place as the filament on a halogen bulb. The 2008-2012 Honda Accords were designed for a halogen bulb in the reflector style headlight. As such the LED bulb does not interact with the reflector the same as the stock halogen bulb and thus you get the beam being higher (or lower) with the LED as well as the ragged line at the top of the beam pattern. You can see the sharp line at the top of the beam pattern on the RH side with the stock halogen bulb. Versus the ragged line in the new LED bulb.
    (2) You based your analysis of whether other drivers would be blinded by your new LED headlights based on being 40 feet away. That is no where far enough from the car to evaluate.
    If you have not already you should re-aim your headlights immediately as it is safety hazard for other drivers.
    Basically with the car 25 feet away from the garage on flat driveway, the top of the headlight beam should drop about two inches on the garage door versus the height of the head light above the driveway. You can see where the center of the headlight is by looking for a small dimple in the headlight lens corresponding to the middle of the headlight bulb. If that dimple is at 28 inches above the driveway, then measure 26 inches on the garage door and aim headlight so the top of the beam at at 26 inches.
    For proper aiming you should alway have about 1/2 tank of gas, someone sitting in the drives seat, and if you typically have tools loaded in the trunk then ensure the tools are present when you aim the headlight. All of these things affect how high the center of the headlights are above the ground, and thus affect the aiming.

  • @romaldesai

    it may reflect brighter and better light than halogens but a lot of folks forget how LED bulbs work. THey're not good especially for opposing traffic. Why? Because all these headlights are "Reflector" type and not projector type. All the LED headlights you see on the newer cars are projector type. These will blind oncoming traffic. It's almost no different than driving with your High Beams on the whole time. If anything, replace the entire Headlight unit with aftermarket projector type headlights. Also, these will make the area close to you brighter, it will not give you distance. The whole point is to get more brighter light down the road, using low beams. IMO, Sylvania's Extreme White is the best bulb for these type headlights.

    • @samlung2724

      Main reason i am saving up money for projector headlights for my 08 accord. Which i find stupid that the coupe accord comes with projectors but not the sedan -.-

      Romal Desai agree I haven’t been a fan of leds since the old school with the silver box ballast and now their just a huge light bulb with a fan... ya they do look like High beams too and I feel like every new car or car with hid have high Beams and blind me.. of course I gotta look away and not at the actual light. Might have to invest in that “as seen on tv” flip down visor that turns ever light dim lol

    • @AwkwardHamster
      @AwkwardHamster  Год назад +1

      I think led bulbs last 4-5 years. But, led brightness on year five is about the same as year one. Whereas the traditional bulbs brightness keeps diminishing year after year. Traditional bulbs may last 5-10 years but that is only because I was too cheap to switch them when they are dimmer. My Lexus bulbs are over 10 years old and dim as hell. I tried to install led bulbs on my Lexus before but I didn’t realize at the time the ES300 used an adapter between power cable and light bulb.

    • @neilfpv

      @@AwkwardHamster That's really cool! I'll be very happy if it reached 4 years. Right now, I'm replacing the bulb and I could not get into it. I am trying to remove the plastic cover near the tire and there is one clip that is different. I am unable to remove that clip 😭

    • @AwkwardHamster
      @AwkwardHamster  Год назад

      Those clips are troublesome. They are also frail. One had a cross and I use Philips screwdriver to unscrew and pop out. The other clip is flat but there are two rings on the surface. The outer ring has one part that is flatter than the rest. I used a thin flat screwdriver to pop up the middle round plastic plug. It doesn’t pop out all the way. Like half way so I can remove the whole plastic plug.

    • @neilfpv
      @neilfpv Год назад

      @@AwkwardHamster yes, that one flat piece is the one I'm having trouble with. Oh, so it doesn't pop out all the way? Should I pry the whole plastic instead of the plug?

    • @AwkwardHamster
      @AwkwardHamster  Год назад +1

      I have been driving for years with a couple of those plastic pieces missing. Amazon sells replacements but it’s by the box. Pep boys probably sells them individually.
      First try using a flashlight to see if you can identify the place to stick the flat screwdriver.

      Double check that the connector pins were inserted properly. Sometimes they get bent when pushing in.

    I have tried SO MANY sets of LED headlight bulbs for my 2011 Accord. None of them have worked. They have all yielded no light when plugged in. I will pull the trigger immediately on these if they will work with plug and play with my car. I have the stock headlight housings, completely unaltered. I have the SE trim. Do you believe it will work as it did for you?

    Did you replace the high beam/daytime running lights to LED too?

    • @AwkwardHamster
      @AwkwardHamster  7 лет назад +2

      I did at one point just to see how it looks. It was OK. DLR and high beam works fine but I kept the stock halogen bulb on since they're still bright. Going to re-purpose the high beam bulbs for other cars that need it.

    Hello- great video. Thanks! Quick question. When I installed the new lasfit bulbs the fit was not as type and could easily be backed off. I can think this will back out after bumpy driving. Any tips on how to make the bulbs tighter?

      Silicon Caulk. I love that stuff. Works as an adhesive. Tolerates wide range of temperatures. Can be removed with less residue compared to tape.

    Do you recommend any LED light for a 2017 Honda Accord

      Lasfit brand. Whenever I have questions they offer support and advice. For example they help explain how to wire daytime running lights and explained recommended bulbs for fog lights

    WHY DIDNT YOU DO THE HIGH BEAM

    • @AwkwardHamster
      @AwkwardHamster  10 месяцев назад

      I couldn’t justify the cost to switch to LED high beam because I will have to pay a higher price for the LED bulb plus purchase the relay harness plus spend the time to install the relay hardness

    I have a 2010 accord with HIDS which constantly flicker. I've been thinking about switching to LED's. Have you had any flicker problems or them not turning on?

    • @AwkwardHamster
      @AwkwardHamster  7 лет назад +3

      Hi. I haven't tried converting from HID to LED. I'll have to change the headlight, not just the headlight bulb.
      And no, mine hasn't flickered.

    What about high beam code ??

    • @AwkwardHamster
      @AwkwardHamster  4 года назад

      If I wanted to change the high beam bulb I would have removed the bulb right next to the low beam. But, because this car also uses high beam as daytime running lights I would have had to add additional wiring to account for the voltage drop in the daytime when using LED high beam bulbs.
