Good discussion. I always though Cyclops needed a secondary mutation to explain the ability to push out all that optic force. I guess it could work like Canonaball where he has indestructible force field when using it.

Surprised you guys didn't say wolverine's claws with the healing cuz that would be terrible without healing. And one that always made me laugh is flight without some kind of speed so you just fly at walking speed. That'd be funny

That's a fair point. We didn't mention it since healing is a pretty major power for Wolverine but yes, without healing those claw holes would just be bleeding at all times and would really suck. The metal implants on his knuckles were actually designed to keep his wounds slightly open in order to mitigate that constant pain and bleeding with continuous use of his claws.

As much as I like engaging my "suspension of belief," I LOVE trying to figure out how supernatural things would be accomplished scientifically 😁! There's a guy who has a YT channel that tries to understand & breakdown the physiology of creatures like vampires 🧛🏿‍♂️, werewolves 🐺, mermaids 🧜🏾‍♀️ & the such from a scientific basis as opposed to their abilities working "just because 🤷🏾‍♂️." Unfortunately, I can't remember his channel's name.
But, in regards to super-strength, I think all superstrong heroes/villains have to employ tactile-kinesis to some degree to, as you say, not break super huge objects in pieces when they lift them as the weight of the object is not spread out over the person's grasp proportionately. Especially people like Rogue or Wonder Woman & the like who don't have the physical musculature 1 would expect to have actual strength based in physicality as they have very feminine physiques despite their strength. At best, they're exceptionally toned like a woman who does moderate weight training on a daily basis. But it has been tossed around that "M" aka Monet St. Croix who started out in Generation X has tactile kinesis which was initially mistaken for super-strength. There's much debate about it, but it would make more sense in her case as one of her MANY powers is low-level traditional telekinesis. ON TOP OF perfect memory, perfect sight, hearing, genius level intellect, flight. Her mutation is she's the "perfect human" so every natural ability a human has, she has it to the Nth degree. She's like Rogue (minus the absorption powers & a lower tier of strength --- like 10 tons) & Jean Grey (with a significantly lower level of telekinesis & telepathy) all in 1.

Speaking of xmen 97, I've never watched the original cartoon, so I ended up watching the whole thing before getting to 97. And the original cartoon is, very 90s, to say the least. But I've really been enjoying 97. I think it's a phenomenal show. Yeah, the pacing can be pretty quick. But regardless, I still think it's absolutely great. It's much darker and way more dramatic than the original, which I prefer it that way.
