I never thought of him as underrated, he kind of made a massive difference back in the day when this all started with this nu netal thing. Hi was the different one to my eyes
@@AllanJ...Batmo365 Abe is original. He has his own style and that's very hard to develop. I find his beats so enjoyable to play. Especially the ones from Saturday Night Wrist album. So much fun
Abe plays real heavy handed but the sound he pulls from his drums is really clean..you hear every cymbal , nothing bleeds together . Just a real smooth finish. Nobody sounds like Abe..One of my favorite drummers
I love it when pro drummers can remember all their cymbals. It annoys me when they have to read the series and sizes as if they don't really care... Abe is the man!
He also keeps the same setup for quite a while. I respect that he changes it up, while also sticking with a set of gear and fleshing it out. Wish I could get my hands on his signature snare.
I'm a rhythm guitar guy and never really gave two shits about drummers, but then I heard Abe's stuff. He plays the drums like a contributing instrument not just a time keeper. It draws you into the music and I feel myself listening to his drums more than the guitar riffs (which are also awesome btw) in Deftones songs. He fucking kills.
I also thought that stuff was so tasty. It seemed like he really toned it down from there, but I admittedly did not listen to as much of their stuff after that album. Correct me if I’m wrong, please.
Sweet Kings hat Love that he Still Represents Sacramento I was lucky enough to see Deftones at the Cattle Club many times. The press club too. Thanks Abe
They do that with a lot of songs. Probably just get bored and switch it up. When they do it with diamond eyes it's heavy as hell. Sounds like a djent band.
His snare on My Own Summer is one of the best snare sounds of all time. That is all
And Digital bath ;)
I read somewhere once that he used a different snare on every song on that album.
One of the most underrated drummers, Abe is a legend!
Not really... He plays his own songs really well... He's rated exactly as he should be... Nothing more nothing less.
@@AllanJ...Batmo365 WTF are you talking about? No more no less, lmfao. What do you play? Didn't think so.
Daxter ZA
Nope !! Matt Garstka recently was saying that Abe had some influence on him ... ( breaking beats)

Digital Bath is one of his best early pieces of work.
White Pony isn't his early work.
@@dominicomegon4714 Agreed...and I nominate One Weak for some of his good "early work"
Dominic Omegon It was the 3rd album of 8 and 20 fuckin years ago, that’s early work there genius.

Alex McNeil Same!
Same here bro🤘
Same bro:)

I always loved his snare sound.
My favorite drummer ever. I never thought a drummer could be "haunting" the background and still be the spine of the track itself. Very unique.

Deftones deserves way more recognition!
Such an underrated and solid drummer.
Man the shit that he did on Adrenaline... that sick drumming was influencing
stoplooking atmeplease stuff he did on white pony really influenced me especially on the song Rx Queen!
I also thought that stuff was so tasty. It seemed like he really toned it down from there, but I admittedly did not listen to as much of their stuff after that album. Correct me if I’m wrong, please.
@@alexbaum2204 you haven't heard other Deftones albums besides Adrenaline?
Swerve city in low tempo is heavy af.
My favorite drummer of all time
The reason I started playing. Love this guy
Abe's a cool dude. His drumming had a huge effect on my drumming in my teen years.
Legend
he deserves more recognition
Just love Abe's style and feel one of my favourite drummers Ever!!. Plus he seems like a cool humble guy, who drums like an animal, Great combo!
Thanks to Abe I started playing the drums in 2000. An icon who gave me the motivation I needed!
Finally u guys are promoting a cool drummer for once.
That's my man right there! Love Abe
Such a cool guy, definetly my top 3 together with David Silviera and Tim Alexander!
He has such a unique style.
I love him. He is so unique and he is truly a major element in Deftones style.
The legend himself
First time i ever heard of him. He sounds real nice person.Working hats really good.
I love his crisp powerful sound! We also share the same bday! Abe's a Cool mufka! Very underrated!!!
His hi hat work on Passenger and Digital Bath is defining... Instantly recognise his style.
I love ya Abe. Genius. Just love ya. To pieces.... One of my favorites of all time. ♥ Your sense of timing is simply amazing. No one plays like you.
One of my favorite drummers
Very humble, that the belief that someone else has in you is just as paramount as the belief in yourself, and he recognizes that.
My favorite drummer
I am gonna start drumming because of him.
Abe is my hero 💞🥁
Master of Ghost Notes
he and Mario duplantier
ThaTruth223 And Thomas Haake
Caffeine Beats
Metal Healing Mostly from the earliest Korn albums on Untouchables, and See You On The Other Side the drumming got really basic imo.
Gavin Harrison, too.
I almost saw all of the best drummers and the most hard hitting drummer is: Abe Cunningham
Sweet Kings hat
Love that he Still Represents Sacramento
I was lucky enough to see Deftones at the Cattle Club many times. The press club too.
Thanks Abe
YES DOOOD!! Abe is too cool
Abe is definitely a drum nerd, it's awesome!
Started seeing the Boys at the Cattle Club in SacTown '90. Killer Energy
Power sound power groove 🙏🏻 🥁
Love the Abe.
Beastly Abe riding thunder hits on those cymbals.
The first time I heard Abe play I remember thinking that all other drummers were inferior.
okay but why is swerve city being played like 20 BPM slower
They do that with a lot of songs. Probably just get bored and switch it up. When they do it with diamond eyes it's heavy as hell. Sounds like a djent band.
What’s the second song played in the background?
You're a God. We believe in you!
Wish Deftones would tour with Incubus again!
hope never
Saw it at Austin360! SOOOOO SICK! asr01 has no fuckin clue lol ^^^
They did 3 years ago
His snare hitting arm goes Whip! SNAP!
I remember asking Abe what kind of cymbals he uses backstage Asbury Park in 98. A bit inebriated he told me Zildjian a, b, c and d's lol
I love his drumming, but I gotta say the old A custom was his sound. The ping ride just doesn't sound right.
Marcus Brown I absolutely HATE how the ping ride sounds on Gore, I’m really hoping he switched back to the A for the album they’re working on now.
nice video zildjian
We need drum cam from Abe !!
Deer Abe. The 15in a series hats were the best sounding hats
1:05 song??? Please 😔
Gore
Monster!
Good
Does Anyone please tell me the title of the first song comes on when abe played the first thing. Thank you so much

He looks and sounds like Mike Mangini.
What's the second track featured?!
Gore
What is the name of the last song?
love you Abe!!!! fukin kill it everytime ive seen yall.I will die when yall die!!!!
The drumming comes though the way you speak Abe, fast talker, fast drummer mirroring.
Nunca me habia dado cuenta que es igual a Marito de Rio Cuarto
I want his snare

Dexter Mondala Swerve City :)
Music in vídeo?
Diego Estefan Swerve City, Gore. Both by Deftones
Whats the name of the last song please?
The song is "Gore"
Wowwww thanks a lot mann :D
What stands are his 2 left crashes on they look kind of weird

GORE
Holy fuck Julian
Tchina boi Haaaai.. Classic.
No no no no no no ( jan paice the best )
Some prefer Tony royster Jr, I prefer Abe. Any day!
Holy shit dude that's just wrong on every single level...Tony takes his lunch every day
Dude deserves way more than what he gets!!! Girls should be naked at all times :)
Isn't it lame when bands slow down their songs a bit?
cocain
Technical point "zerooo" mann😜🤣bad bad bad😎
Monster in the studio, complete liability live.
Lol he is dragging his ass the first clip....come on man
It's intentional. I don't they play to a click live, and they always slow down the chorus in Swerve City.
