I drove both before and yes the 5.7 hemi makes the two ton car move rather quickly. The 3.6 v6 was smooth and strong in its own right but it lacks the low end torque
a couple years ago I had a charger v6 rental for a month. With the 5 speed auto that car was abysmal off the line. I've never experienced such tall gearing. Great cruiser car but not much for performance.
***** Not knocking the v6 Cuz its actually a good engine, I'm just saying that jumping from one car to the other the difference is night and day. You guys aren't considering the +120lbtq the v8 has over the v6
No. a V6 is only marginally cheaper than the 5.7. If you option an SXT to be on part amenities wise to a base R/T you're only going to save ~$1500 by going with a v6.
a base v6 charger will be less than 24k...you can probably find a new base v6 charger for 20k. a hemi charger will most likely be 32k+. thats a huge gap. if you are talking sxt then yea its closer to an RT in price.
why compare any modified v8 to a bone stock v6? this just didn't make any sense. what did you think would happen? and the v6 engine didn't even look well kept.
Yeah but there is still no comparison. I think if you are going to compare them, compare both with both bone stock or same or similar mods if you want to compare a distance margin.
Nothing like having a v-8, just knowing that your car will kick ass every time. The first thing I look for when I see another charger is it at least an RT.
Same here. I drive a V6 and I get so jealous when I see that R/T badge 😂. I'm in a favorable position financially now so it's coming... The call of the hemi gets louder every time I drive it now.
Ive got the the 3.6 8 speed and I don't mind its a step up from my ford Granada pain tbrushed green over white lol. Worked my ass off just to get the 6 cyl but dreaming of that hellcat!
An SXT Rallye would change the outcome of this race.. not by much but enough to sway people into not believing that everything that performs has to have a hemi sitting under the hood.
I drive cars for Chrysler, the difference is NOT that much as shown in the video. Either the cars arn't both stock or the drivers can't drive OR...there's something wrong with that 3.6. Quarter mile runs are about 3 car lengths difference that I've seen.
+Motor City Man All the mods were stated at the start and the driver of the v6 did his best to give it all he had. The difference is probably more magnified with the v8 having the 3.06 gears as opposed to the standard gears on the base model R/T's.
Part of it is the gearing, If your car was the base RT's with the 2.65 gearing the difference would be minimal, Although I love the V8 cars, I think the new v6's have a lot of potential with the right gearing. Personally i would love to see the V6 with a 3.23 rear gears , now that would be a killer combo, Love your videos man!
The new V6s also have a much better performance mod scene than the 3.5 ever had. You can actually get some extra power out of that thing without it being a complete waste of money, or just a straight up grenade...
I had a 2021 Charger RT but I couldn't help myself when I was able to trade up to a Scat pack wide body haha! But it was a great car. Having started from the bottom, I know it wasn't the fastest thing out there but that car put a smile on my face when I pressed the gas, especially after modding the exhausts.
I bought a SXT USED. 87000 miles and I raced my friends 2012 maybe 2014 Camaro SS manual I took him off the line from stand still point for about a few feet until he dropped gears after that he pull off in front of me thinking I wouldn’t keep up I was only a few feet behind him v6 chargers and challengers aren’t as slow as people think I’d prefer a v8 but my bank account said next time 😂
I did the same test against my buddy's V6 Charger and my R/T showed the smell results. I don't think you're giving the 5.7 enough credit. I raced a 6.1 Hemi Charger and he barely won. I could tell if I had 3.92 gears I would have beat his SRT.
+Michael Yang My car is slightly faster than MOST R/T's considering I have the 3.06 gears that came with the Blacktop Package. Other than that slight "enhancement" this is the true difference. I was quite surprised as well. A 6.4L would probably put the same distance on me!
+RP Productions wait a minute yours is the r/t scat pack you have the SRT engine am I reading your comment correctly, it sounds like you're saying you have the 5.7L?
seems like the V6 isn't trying very hard to keep up. Looking at the speedo in the video my 2016 sxt v6 seems to accellerate quicker. Would like to see a clear shot of the tach in the v6.
Never really checked, my ST is not stock, it is chipped, so instead of the 252hp I have approx 300hp and 285-290 torque, I just have to be carefull on the start, my car is easy to spin the front wheels, if I get a good start i'm ahead of the V6. Beat my friend with the mustang V6 and a coworker with is challenger V6 ... I guess I should be around 5-5.4 0-60 but thats just a guess since I didnt check.
larkyleroy why? I have driven Chevy Malibu, and Own a Pontiac G6 with a V6 and they seem to deliver satisfactory power. Definitely not as big as the V8, but for the regular drive on the streets really rather planty.
Max Synelnikov Those cars you mentioned are not muscle cars. A muscle car needs a v8. If you dont want a muscle car then the cars you talk about are fine.
Some people buy cars for the body style as well. The new chargers are gorgeous and aesthetically beat everything else in the full sized sedan class. I drive around 300 miles a week to and from work and the bad gas mileage of the V8 + I have to use 89 octane fuel which, where i live, is 60 cents more per gallon than 87 octane since 87 is hard on the V8. It just makes more sense to me to go with a V6 unless I can get a V8 for an absolute steal.
+Christian Momox Gnerally speaking, no two motors make the same output, and that also is dependent on the altitude. I've only seen one other NA V6 Charger come close to mine and he also had extensive bolt ons, aggressive tune, quick reaction. I wont say what i have and have not done, but I have seen these V6 chargers punch above their weight more than once. It's also possible just like I have a "golden motor" the guy in this video also has one, but a V8. Still, depending on the altitude, I expected more of a run from the V6. Oh forgot to mention, I unofficially have the fastest NA V6 Charger in North America.
I got a 2015 SXT V6. Its cheaper in price and gas... I drive 150 miles a day commuting to work, so for me its a highway cruiser, not a dragster. Got it used for $18,500 with 29k miles on it.
Wow David, do you still have it? How many miles so far? I bought my 2015 Charger v6 for a really good deal also, paid 17,500 with only 22,000 miles. Stupid Dodge dealer here in Georgia ( Don Jackson) didn't disclose that the car had some very minor front under carriage damage from some dumb ass ran over a curb or something. They would'nt fix it tho, Needed nearly $2,000 worth of work done to fix it. Runs great now, great car!
I have 2014 v6 sxt plus. The car moves !!!. For a v6 have plenty of power. I don't drive it to race and i never abuse it the engine i want this car to last .i like the looks. It have the 20" rims with the low profiles tires. It is lowered too .never have a problem with the tires rubbing or nothing, who ever had it before took great care of it I'm happy .
When your 20 year old Tacoma does the same as the V8 0-35 :D (It’s only cause first gear in that thing pulls like hell it’s a 4.56 but after that it’s a snail);)
R/T only makes 75 more horsepower, but it makes it at a far lower RPM. It also makes 400lb-ft of torque, while The Act makes so.ething like 240-260 (can't remember exact number)
C F not really though the air intake and the exhaust didn’t add much power at all. Not trying to know it all I’m just trying to help you realize that bone stock on both wouldn’t have changed the outcome Incase you were basing a purchase off this.
This would be more accurate if the HEMI didn't jump off the line early every time. Or conversely, if the Pentastar didn't purposely step off LATE. Dude watch the 1st "race" and tell me I'm not seeing things. Theres a good 1.5 seconds between when the 5.7 leaves the line and when the 3.6 steps off. EVERYONE knows a HEMI is much faster. But it's obvious what you've done here lol. Oh and the shot of the dirty engine cover on the V6 was choice too. Good work. HEMI 0-60: 5.2 sec V6: 0-60: 6.5 sec
Do you have editing software? (Rhetorical question). That's why you record another "take" since the first one wasn't representative! That's just lazy man.
Do you realize how close it was? You think after going home to edit my footage I thought to myself "Oh gee, I better go do another take because the 1 random man on the internet isn't happy with a .25 second reaction time difference!" I'm not sure what you're getting at. The v8 is faster, by a good amount, end of story. There's plenty of other "takes" following that clip.
I know the HEMI is faster. So does everyone else. That wasn't my argument. You can still show that the HEMI pulls stumps without bias, even if it wasn't intentional. But internet scuffs are worthless so no need to continue arguing over semantics lol. Clean car, it sounds pretty sweet. I think it's great you can still buy a large, RWD V8 American sedan today. [Not sarcasm]. If I had more dough ($40k+ to spend on new car) I'd seriously consider buying a Chevy SS 6-speed or Charger R/T Scat Pack.
I suppose I could have approached the test in another way, giving the v6 a giant head start and seeing how long it takes the v8 to catch up but oh well. I agree the Chevy SS and Scat Pack Charger are incredible machines for what they are.
+di foo!! I'm with you brother. The SXT owner clearly either a) doesn't know how to drive or b) was told to sandbag by the R/T owner. I know my '14 3.6L w/8spd isn't as fast as a 5.7L but I'll be damned if I am not as far behind like that V6 in the video--and I've raced my fair share of my local R/T guys. Yes I am win-less but I always show a respectable performance and most of these guys are impressed with the 3.6 and give me the thumbs up. 0-60 in 6.2~6.5s isn't anything to sneeze at, especially when it is done in a vehicle with style and presence. :) Plus the other issues I have with this video are that the V6 showed in the video had 2.65 gears and the R/T had an upgraded 3.06 gears so that's the first thing--and a MAJOR thing at that. Secondly, no one will ever get accurate racing results from the stupid 3 honks nonsense. Thirdly, it is also likely that the V6 in the video was an using the 5spd trans which is eons slower accelerating vs the 8spd--especially from a roll. I also race fellow 2011+ V6 Chargers and those with the 5spd do lose 100% of the time stock vs stock or mod vs mod. I bought my V6 because the price was in my budget (was $3,500 upside-down in my '13 Focus anyway so there went my R/T budget) and it was infinitely better than any boring FWD shitbox. Stop the hate both ways and lets just all be happy we are auto enthusiasts and not dumb Prius-owning hippies. I love HEMIs, but, the 3.6L isn't anything to sneeze at. Can't we all just get along? LOL Peace out.
Really makes me decide between the sxt plus and rt. Should I choose horsepower over gas? Would I be faster than most cars on the road with a sxt plus (290hp)?
+579Jacob I'd say the SXT slightly faster than most cars but it's relatively average. Once you step up to the v8 it's a pretty big change (as seen in the video). For me I chose the v8 because I knew if I bought the v6 I'd always wish it had more power. Smiles per gallon :)
+579Jacob the hemis have the mds technology, at cruising your running on 4 cylinders and surpriselingy the hemis great gas mileage if you granny it lol, but its a hemi
I had to upgrade from a v6 to a v8. I went from a 2010 SXT to a 2015 R/T and boy do you feel a hell of a difference. The V6 feel so heavy while the v8 makes that heavy car feel light as a honda civic.
I just bought a new 2016 Charger SXT V6 and I could of gotten a 2014 RT Blacktop edition. I am regretting not getting it. even though I live in Seattle in the city, I still miss that V8 torque and sound.
+Acuravigor47 show a video of your 2016 charger, an damn should of just went the 2014 RT blacktop that best you can really get out of, I personally don't like the new body style of the new chargers , nonetheless both are good cars regardless, what is your montly payments on that 2016 ? did you do 0$ down ? what was your APR ?
mikexcanxjerk Hey bud hows it going? So yeah- I don't up-load anything to RUclips, I just watch it a lot. So with my 16 Charger. I traded in my 2010 Mazdaspeed 3 turbo and got 14K for it. And my charger had 3k miles on it already. So they wanted 26K for it and I talked them down to 21.5K It took me 2 hours of negotiating but overall I won the debate and got a lot for my trade in and talked the price down 5.5 thousand dollars. So now my monthly payment is only $98.00.2.8%APR.
Acuravigor47 oh sweet , sometimes that negotiation works ? damn 98$ a month ? for how many months ? are you putting any flowmasters or magnaflows on it ? do you have warranty or no ? isn't that extra money ?
mikexcanxjerk 48 months. and No for aftermarket exhaust. If I had a Hemi then most definitely but its not worth modding the V6 Pentastar. The V6 sounds ok when at idle and a cold start with a Flowmaster or whatever but under throttle and on the highway it sounds like crap- and too much drone at cruising speed 60 mph. And the warranty I have is for life. So im not going to ruin that. I plan on having it for at least 8-10 years. My plans are to lower it, put some RT wheels on it with 275 rubber. HIDs, Scat Pack hood. and 3.07 rear end gear swap. The engine isn't worth modding and neither is the exhaust. Its better to keep both stock.
Good for you bro, I bought a 3.5v6 with my parents. Couldn't go for the v8 because of the crazy insurance rates for a guy my age lol. But like you when I get through college and get my career going I want a Scat pack!
QSRebelClan My same situation.....I had to settle for the v6 charger as well cuz insurance is crazy when your 24 years old but my next charger will be a v8
Salty car guys get mad when their car can't beat another so they act like it can lol. EG: carola owners thinking their stock car can beat a lambo. the hemi V8 is obviously going to outdo their V6. That was the marketing intention!
+j dan I don't get the point of that, in a street full with others cars your not going to be racing , people with v8 just want to heat that torque and sound of a v8
mikexcanxjerk Average people don't need the V8 but I take mine to track day every chance I get. I would say for the every day driver go V6 but for someone who likes to drive and likes to go to the track the hemi is a must!
+mikexcanxjerk i have a v8 2000 silverado i just like it because of the fact its a v8, i mean its no 500 horsepower v8 but i like the sound besides v8 have that thing that no matter how old you feel power
FranciscoJ Castrejon I agree, anything v8 from any year still sounds good and I love it! v8 makes ppl hear and look at you ! I love that sounds music to my ears..
I gotta v6 Charger it's dope not really a guy to care about the engine size because I don't race so I think that's was the purpose of the v6 model for the daily driver who just likes the car
The new R/Ts are fast. I was racing one, he was in front of me and at first he pulls away until i reached peek boost. After I got into 3rd I was inching closer and closer. I need E85 lol
+Zcypot You should be, don't listen to those dullards. WRX's are some badass and very fast rides. My brother used to have an '08 hatch. Are you rolling an STI or highly modded non-STI WRX?
JCE3000GT Still rolling with my WRX, had the opportunity to get the STI but stuck with my WRX since they are both equally as fast on the street. No major power mods at the moment basically fixing the shit Subaru dropped the ball on like headers. top mount intercooler, better injectors and pump(stock ones max out very fast), and a better clutch. That should put me around 300wheel with stock turbo, then get the E85 kit from cobb and upgraded turbo to finish my build of near 400 to the wheels.
you think buying these cars with high mileage like almost 100k miles is a good buy if the price is really low? My buddy linked me to a 2011 charger with just under 100k miles immaculate condition at this smaller car lot. carfax said it was used for commercial purposes in the past then was sold in the auction give me advice if you can anyone! and everyone!
+YGOSupreme I have a good buddy who bought an 08 R/T with somewhere around 100k and he hasn't had any issues. The 5.7l is a tank of a motor so I would think it should do just fine! If the carfax came back without any major problems and the maintenance was kept up then I would say it should be good buy.
mando vitsl The V6 literally gets 1 MPG more than the V8, due to the ability of the V8 to shut off 4 cylinders with the MDS tech when not stomping on the gas. I own a 2011 RT and it gets 22 MPG. V6 Chargers get 23 MPG.
julio narvaez think about this, My guess is that we can boost up the v6 horsepower with a RIPP supercharger and other mods and be faster than an RT and just as fast as a Scatty without the v8 title on our insurance. And still get better gas mileage. Or maybe didn't think much about the difference when we bought the v6. But now buy a v8 just for the sake of saying its a v8? Maybe not?
My cousin has a hellcat challenger I’m 16 and have a 07 Dodge Charger 2.7 I’m scared to drive it cuz ima feel sad when I have to give it back to him lol but I’m blessed to even have a car my parents bought me 😂
Torque, the V6 doesn't have enough spin without modifications to compete, there's a guy who did a lot of weight reduction and added a supercharger to his v6 challenger but due to lack in torque he couldn't compete with a scat 392. Big power difference.
Im the roll race , was you racing in manual mode ? And what gear ? , plus race som camaros ss , stangs gt etc , i would like to see v8 vs v8 , by the way i own a R/T too with the road & track pckge
+RP Productions compare withe the same car both v8 (i have a 14 rt blacktop) and i always wanted to compare regular mod on manual and sport mod on auto i need 2 of the same cars to do it :(
A 3.6 V6? It would have still lost, but it would have been a slightly better race if it were supercharged. V6s don't really have numbers on their side when going up against v8s.
It'll drone a lil w the reso delete but it's music outside the car. Sounds awesome when my gf drives it down to the 7-11. Blastin' bobs offers a wide range of resonator delete kits in every volume/dB too.. mine is a 9db kit w 4" stainless glasspacks, no resonators. I've gotten so many compliments for the exhaust and rims.
I have a charger V6 but i like it because Its better in gas .specially fuel price now is expensive . " i know I could have bought A 4 cylinder to save money . But I just want to try something new . " over all for me car is car though as long as it will take you to point A to B . Yall be safe now. And god bless you all.
cost shouldn't be an issue all you have to do is buy used. dodge depreciates so fast that you can get the v8 for thousands and i don't mean 1 or 2 grand i mean 10 grand or more cheaper if you get one that's maybe 2 years old i picked up an rt max with 50,000 miles and no wrecks or issues for 15k. don't be the idiot who buys anything that's dodge brand new. and im not talking about jeep those things hold value like gold
So I’m thinking of getting my first charger in January when I come off deployment I don’t want to spend crazy money on a upper model “trying to save for a house” can anybody give me some advice I’m looking at an 2016 charger RT or and 2018 sxt (super track pack)
I have a 2014 v6 charger. I have a k&n air filter on it that's it, everything else is stock, and I've beaten a couple cars. I've beating a guy with stock gt mustang I usually put it in 5speed when I race tho, beatin a lancer with aftermarket exhaust and air filter, beat a Scion FR-S, and Scion tC, beat an eclipse that had aftermarket exhaust too and something else in it, i do regret getting a v6, somewhat, but really I love the gas I'm saving since I work somewhat far, but do not get a v6 charger my ugly ass charger Max's out at 120MPH POS
On exhaust note alone the V8 will always win. Maybe it's the frequency or pitch...not sure but V8s just naturally sound better. Frankly I've never heard a 6 cylinder exhaust that I liked. That\s not to take away from their performance...but if I can't tolerate the sound I'm not buying. I'll stick with my HEMI thank you. :)
Speaking strictly off of sound between these two particular vehicles. The v6 sounds better, it surprised me once the v8 started up and was subtle compared to it's little brother. Id recommend an exhaust upgrade.
+RP Productions Of course, the v8 is a massive power house. nothing beats the sound of raw power. I was speaking in a change in exhaust system. not overall sound quality of the engines compared.
Take a look at the first few seconds of my most recent vlog or my exhaust videos. Perhaps it was just this specific scene that was not to your liking but almost all of the feedback I've gotten on the sound has been positive and I've thoroughly enjoyed having this exhaust setup.
+RP Productions I'm not by any means saying it sounds bad. I'm speaking only from personal preference. I have a 2v Gt mustang running an Offroad x pipe "waiting on a supercharger". I'm not stating a loud and obnoxious exhaust is necessary. I'm just providing a slightly better idea of how much aggression I personally like from an exhaust system. The car is beautiful and sounds like it means business. I didn't intend to discredit, just stating I'd like to hear more of the power your engine has.
I have a 2012 3.6 Challenger with the 3:06 Gears from a quick order package and Reso deletes i had done. On midgrade gas (89 octane for me) my 0-60 timing is 5.8. Stock is usually 6.3 and im glad I did that. Id say im pretty close to a stock rt before 2015 models AND I STILL Get about 18 city and 27 highway even at 75 mph. Some drone is there along with a nice rumble the way I have my pipes set up. If only the 8 speed was available at that time for the challenger. There'd be zero drone. Anyways, Im at 51K and plan to start tuning it soon! Maybe even supercharge it....or Get a '15 ScatPack haha..Not sure what ima do yet
Lol Sorry bro. I work for a auto shop for 15 years and That reso delete doesn't mean anything bro. The gas either. Only way you can gain more hp is with a tuner and it will only be 10-15 hp if that.
+Jordanfiend361 Then how would you explain my constant 0-60 times? Actually WHAT would? I feel as if i gained some power at least. I even feel it. its crazy lol
Has anyone actually owned these cars I just want to know if the V-6 has more engine problems and kind of quality control type of things versus like the V8 production models.
I drove both before and yes the 5.7 hemi makes the two ton car move rather quickly. The 3.6 v6 was smooth and strong in its own right but it lacks the low end torque
the 8 speed definitely makes a difference. my 15 Rallye will eat my 13 Avenger 3.6 all day long.
a couple years ago I had a charger v6 rental for a month. With the 5 speed auto that car was abysmal off the line. I've never experienced such tall gearing. Great cruiser car but not much for performance.
I agree!
And about 50-60 less horsepower too.

No. a V6 is only marginally cheaper than the 5.7. If you option an SXT to be on part amenities wise to a base R/T you're only going to save ~$1500 by going with a v6.
considering the bare bones SE model starts at 28k, I'm really doubting you got 7k off MSRP.
21.6 is unprofitable for the dealer. even if you got a stripper, barebone SE model you would still be getting 25% off msrp. That's not reasonable
Why is that? Just curious...
a base v6 charger will be less than 24k...you can probably find a new base v6 charger for 20k. a hemi charger will most likely be 32k+. thats a huge gap. if you are talking sxt then yea its closer to an RT in price.
why compare any modified v8 to a bone stock v6? this just didn't make any sense. what did you think would happen? and the v6 engine didn't even look well kept.
lol either way the v8 would've murked the v6
Curtis Dodds yeah but not that much ..
I agree
He acknowledged that the v8 will win. He just wanted to see by how much. He said that at the beginning of the video.

An SXT Rallye would change the outcome of this race.. not by much but enough to sway people into not believing that everything that performs has to have a hemi sitting under the hood.
Freaking gorgeous! I made the right decision when I bought one. My 300 had to have her cousin
+Motor City Man You are right, I was thinking the same thing. The difference is NOT that big at all and I also know this from personal experience!
"drivers can't drive"
They're automatics. Just mash the gas and hold on. Skill is not really a factor
Or the v6 just isn't a good engine
Motor City Man “i DriVe FOr cHRysLeR” the v6 is considerably slower. The difference looks about right.
Zaish Chaudhry still would be considerable difference my guy
The new V6s also have a much better performance mod scene than the 3.5 ever had. You can actually get some extra power out of that thing without it being a complete waste of money, or just a straight up grenade...
I had a 2021 Charger RT but I couldn't help myself when I was able to trade up to a Scat pack wide body haha! But it was a great car. Having started from the bottom, I know it wasn't the fastest thing out there but that car put a smile on my face when I pressed the gas, especially after modding the exhausts.
That V8 Hemi Got Power, But That V6 Will Last Twice as Long Thats a Proven Fact..
Send proof
All that extra dirt on the engine weighing it down and suffocating that v6 down otherwise I think it would of kept up lol😂😂😂😂
Mr. Garcia15 kept up?? Where at the starting line???
No it wouldn't😂
I bought a SXT USED. 87000 miles and I raced my friends 2012 maybe 2014 Camaro SS manual I took him off the line from stand still point for about a few feet until he dropped gears after that he pull off in front of me thinking I wouldn’t keep up I was only a few feet behind him v6 chargers and challengers aren’t as slow as people think I’d prefer a v8 but my bank account said next time 😂
the v6 would not keep up lol
Jermayne Spence Your friend should learn to drive lol
Not sure if this is believable, was the v6 driver asleep? I'm not saying the v6 is fast but the is only the 5.7L hemi not the srt engine.
I did the same test against my buddy's V6 Charger and my R/T showed the smell results. I don't think you're giving the 5.7 enough credit. I raced a 6.1 Hemi Charger and he barely won. I could tell if I had 3.92 gears I would have beat his SRT.
+American Muscle ^^ auto correct, I meant same, not smell.
+Michael Yang My car is slightly faster than MOST R/T's considering I have the 3.06 gears that came with the Blacktop Package. Other than that slight "enhancement" this is the true difference. I was quite surprised as well. A 6.4L would probably put the same distance on me!
+ebglock no offense but I'm calling B.S. Unless the driver fell asleep or was unaware of the race.
+RP Productions wait a minute yours is the r/t scat pack you have the SRT engine am I reading your comment correctly, it sounds like you're saying you have the 5.7L?
It’s crazy how fast and beautiful sounding the r/t is, then there’s srt, hellcat, demon, fuck me man 😂😂
seems like the V6 isn't trying very hard to keep up. Looking at the speedo in the video my 2016 sxt v6 seems to accellerate quicker. Would like to see a clear shot of the tach in the v6.
car is too heavy for a V6, I can beat V6 charger, challenger with my puny Focus ST ... of course a V8 is going to smoke the V6
explain. what are your 0-60 times
I guess I should be around 5-5.4 0-60 but thats just a guess since I didnt check.
lordpatrice well those focus ST are super light and small and quick so probably
Vince Pecoraro the rt was modified to make it faster. v6 was stock. not a fair comparison.
Never buy a car like a charger with a v6. I made that mistake with a Camaro. I liked the car but hated the v6.
larkyleroy why? I have driven Chevy Malibu, and Own a Pontiac G6 with a V6 and they seem to deliver satisfactory power. Definitely not as big as the V8, but for the regular drive on the streets really rather planty.
Max Synelnikov Those cars you mentioned are not muscle cars. A muscle car needs a v8. If you dont want a muscle car then the cars you talk about are fine.
OK. What about Cadillac ATS V? It has a V-6, but quicker than the newest C 63 AMG with a V-8. (according to Kelley blue book review)
Ominous true the v6 is great if you drive everyday , but a steal on a v8 I would take it
The CAI on the V8 made it win ;-) ;-)
wow I have a 3.6 v6 2012 charger it doesn't seem that slow like in this video
Christian Pemex it's slow compared to a hemi. U may be able to beat a Accord tho
Well thy v8 was modded and well kept the v6 was stock and looks treated like ass
It is
V6 should ride 93 octane for more power
I got a 2015 SXT V6. Its cheaper in price and gas... I drive 150 miles a day commuting to work, so for me its a highway cruiser, not a dragster. Got it used for $18,500 with 29k miles on it.
David Hilton still quicker than most v6 on the road
Wow David, do you still have it? How many miles so far? I bought my 2015 Charger v6 for a really good deal also, paid 17,500 with only 22,000 miles. Stupid Dodge dealer here in Georgia ( Don Jackson) didn't disclose that the car had some very minor front under carriage damage from some dumb ass ran over a curb or something. They would'nt fix it tho, Needed nearly $2,000 worth of work done to fix it. Runs great now, great car!
David Hilton your the only one with a valid reason to buy a v6
Hemi cruises with 4 cyl on the freeway. Gets better gas mileage than my V6 Frontier.
Compare your care with a srt 8
+DopeAssGamers I'd really like to! Still looking for someone interested in making that video happen with me!
+RP Productions I'd be happy to if I were in the area lol
Houston or College Station, Texas :)
+RP Productions my mom lives in houston, when I drive there I'll race ya! lol
If you have Instagram follow me at @RP_Productionss and hit me up when you're in town!
Just won an auction for a 2007 Charger police 5.7. Fastest production police car I have driven since the 70's
Bill Jenkins My sho pulled on my old rt every time. Top gear also has the sho outperforming the caprice 6.0 and charger hemi.
This makes me smile, my slightly modded 2015 3.6 charger is getting 0-60 in 6.05 seconds.
That’s slow
When your 20 year old Tacoma does the same as the V8 0-35 :D (It’s only cause first gear in that thing pulls like hell it’s a 4.56 but after that it’s a snail);)
R/T only makes 75 more horsepower, but it makes it at a far lower RPM. It also makes 400lb-ft of torque, while The Act makes so.ething like 240-260 (can't remember exact number)
They actually make over 400 crank hp since 2009. They typically dyno around 325-335 rwhp, bone stock.
@@fire398017 Dodge rates the Charger RT with 370 hp and ( I believe) 395 ft pounds of torque. The GT has 300 hp and 264 ft pounds of torque.
Huh my dad must have done something to our charger v6 because I out ran a challenger and a mustang and even a v8 charger idk
I have both a 06 a sxt 3.5 charger and a 2013 r/t charger with the blacktop package and there is really no comparison my r/t kills my sxt easily
i luv both
Why film at night ? You can’t see anything
Glad i found this video to show my friend because he thinks if he gets a v6 it will beat my v8 just because "its about whos a better driver"
it would have been nice to compare a stock v6 to a stock v8. this v8 was modified for more speed.
C F not really though the air intake and the exhaust didn’t add much power at all. Not trying to know it all I’m just trying to help you realize that bone stock on both wouldn’t have changed the outcome Incase you were basing a purchase off this.
@@stephenadams2354 bro.. the rt had better gearing which made it faster than a stock rt
More Power @ More Money !! Less Power😩Less Money 😂😂😂
Good work.
HEMI 0-60: 5.2 sec
V6: 0-60: 6.5 sec
Plus the other issues I have with this video are that the V6 showed in the video had 2.65 gears and the R/T had an upgraded 3.06 gears so that's the first thing--and a MAJOR thing at that.
LOL Peace out.
as a first car i think the V6 09 challenger is a decent car. beats most of my friends if i races and i plan on modding mine.
For me: CC set on 50mph I'll get 33mpg. Highway speeds is generally around 26mpg and city is around 15mpg.
That's not bad at all, however I have my mds deleted and I get about 19 city and I have a lead foot lol
Get the srt man . You will fall in love . Trust me . I have a v6 Camaro and got the srt8 after and just love it
I had to upgrade from a v6 to a v8. I went from a 2010 SXT to a 2015 R/T and boy do you feel a hell of a difference. The V6 feel so heavy while the v8 makes that heavy car feel light as a honda civic.
The 2010 SXT does not compare to the 2013 SXT.
I have a V-6 charger I wish I Got the V-8
I am going to get a Dodge Challenger Rt shaker but that is only when I get my career job not with the job I am at right now.
+Biff Tannen very cool
+pector55 nice! Enjoy it man.! 👍🏻
Good for you bro, I bought a 3.5v6 with my parents. Couldn't go for the v8 because of the crazy insurance rates for a guy my age lol. But like you when I get through college and get my career going I want a Scat pack!
Same. If the opportunity presents itself, I'll go with a hellcat.
QSRebelClan My same situation.....I had to settle for the v6 charger as well cuz insurance is crazy when your 24 years old but my next charger will be a v8
Did you tune your hemi? I didnt hear if that was stated
The v6 immediately has an engine cover 😂😂🔥😂
I agree , I'm trying to get a v6 , I don't care about the engine all looks the same and all is beautiful ,
+mikexcanxjerk i have a v8 2000 silverado i just like it because of the fact its a v8, i mean its no 500 horsepower v8 but i like the sound besides v8 have that thing that no matter how old you feel power
FranciscoJ Castrejon I agree, anything v8 from any year still sounds good and I love it! v8 makes ppl hear and look at you ! I love that sounds music to my ears..
The v6 has plenty of fun in the higer rpms it just takes time to get there
yup. just lacks that push at the low end
which flowmaster exhaust does the v6 have?
I gotta v6 Charger it's dope not really a guy to care about the engine size because I don't race so I think that's was the purpose of the v6 model for the daily driver who just likes the car
Ameer BMU more of a just for looks trim really or like you said "daily cruising driving"!
Man that r/t sounds good as fuck
5.7 hemi v8 vs a sxt V6 what was the point again???
Let's say you put the same paintjob, wheels and rims, will the 2 cars look identical? Is the rt logo in the grill the only difference?
The new R/Ts are fast. I was racing one, he was in front of me and at first he pulls away until i reached peek boost. After I got into 3rd I was inching closer and closer. I need E85 lol
+Bob Davis nah I'm cool. I was keeping up with 240 AWHP LOL once I get to 300 AWHP it would be a walk in the park :)
+Zcypot no, you need a less-"faggy" of a car
NWgunzNbud Nah, I am perfectly happy with my car sour puss :P
Why was this done @ night?
I mean really why....
Waste of time
That's when your mom gets off work
Oneil Salazaar didn’t have to watch it my guy
What intake you have for your v8?
There's no replacement for displacement.
pra3t0rian im sure a 5.7 charger can take on a GTR 😂. hell it barely takes on the ecoboost mustang.
What editing software do you use?
I raced a 2014 charger hemi in my 2010 300 3.5 with upgrades and still was able to keep up with it neck an neck ...
this hemi had better gearing my guy
that 3.06 dif on the r/t isn't stock is it?
The rt does the v6 like the scatpack does the rt
Whats the stock gear in the Hemi??? That 3.06 gear is stock, whats with you saying you put it in?
its like the V6 isnt accelerating.
you think buying these cars with high mileage like almost 100k miles is a good buy if the price is really low? My buddy linked me to a 2011 charger with just under 100k miles immaculate condition at this smaller car lot. carfax said it was used for commercial purposes in the past then was sold in the auction give me advice if you can anyone! and everyone!
+YGOSupreme I have a good buddy who bought an 08 R/T with somewhere around 100k and he hasn't had any issues. The 5.7l is a tank of a motor so I would think it should do just fine! If the carfax came back without any major problems and the maintenance was kept up then I would say it should be good buy.
Most people that have v6 they spend all there money trying to make it a v8...why not just buy a v8
+julio narvaez cuz they want something fast and decent on gas
+mando vitsl oxy moron??
mando vitsl The V6 literally gets 1 MPG more than the V8, due to the ability of the V8 to shut off 4 cylinders with the MDS tech when not stomping on the gas.
Maybe not?
my V6 gets 31 mpg hiway, 26 mpg city....and my insurance is lower than yours...haha
I'll neeevvvveerrr get another v6 dodge again lol i test drove my cousins srt challengr and cried every time I drove mine there is a huge difference
My cousin has a hellcat challenger I’m 16 and have a 07 Dodge Charger 2.7 I’m scared to drive it cuz ima feel sad when I have to give it back to him lol but I’m blessed to even have a car my parents bought me 😂
I’m looking at length if I want to swap in a v8 are they the same length
I'd like to see a 2014 and up Dodge Charger SE(8 speed automatic) versus a base r/t, both with no mods. All this talk about a 5.7 hemi.
T J The sxt got the 8 speed in 2012. That was an 8 speed.
That was a no-brainer
Dude.. ok got the point one video with one angle is more than enough jeez!
+elvicdesonora Yes I was. The 20 Roll was from first gear and the 40/45 roll was from 2nd gear. I hope to get more comparison videos soon!
+RP Productions good one man ! Keep it up , and burning more gas in the Hemi !!
+RP Productions compare withe the same car both v8 (i have a 14 rt blacktop) and i always wanted to compare regular mod on manual and sport mod on auto i need 2 of the same cars to do it :(
+RP Productions mode*
I've tested it. Manual shifting while in sport mode is the fastest method.
no shit the engine is more torque
V8 (except Ferrari): Masculine
V6: Feminine
What transmission is the v6?
Can you put a v8 hood and bumper on a v6?
Didn’t know it was so night and day
A 3.6 V6? It would have still lost, but it would have been a slightly better race if it were supercharged. V6s don't really have numbers on their side when going up against v8s.
why add a 2 gear to a v6??? i mean a 3.08 is really high even for a v8 but a 2...in a 6??? talk about no compensation
Filming at night like that was a bad idea. Can't make out much.
I'm so glad I decided on an R/T. I have pathetic sxt's attempting to race me all the time.. until they're shook by my flowmasters and resonator delete
What type of Flowmasters do you recommend for the charger? I'm looking for some now
40 series
It'll drone a lil w the reso delete but it's music outside the car. Sounds awesome when my gf drives it down to the 7-11. Blastin' bobs offers a wide range of resonator delete kits in every volume/dB too.. mine is a 9db kit w 4" stainless glasspacks, no resonators. I've gotten so many compliments for the exhaust and rims.
Dodge charger 2008 sxt or 2010 charger se?
This is why I don't understand that not all Police Chargers are equipped with the V8. A Charger needs a V8.
I have a charger V6 but i like it because Its better in gas .specially fuel price now is expensive . " i know I could have bought A 4 cylinder to save money . But I just want to try something new . " over all for me car is car though as long as it will take you to point A to B . Yall be safe now. And god bless you all.
cost shouldn't be an issue
all you have to do is buy used.
dodge depreciates so fast that you can get the v8 for thousands and i don't mean 1 or 2 grand i mean 10 grand or more cheaper if you get one that's maybe 2 years old
i picked up an rt max with 50,000 miles and no wrecks or issues for 15k. don't be the idiot who buys anything that's dodge brand new. and im not talking about jeep those things hold value like gold
So I’m thinking of getting my first charger in January when I come off deployment I don’t want to spend crazy money on a upper model “trying to save for a house” can anybody give me some advice I’m looking at an 2016 charger RT or and 2018 sxt (super track pack)
R/T. I think you've earned it.
Try driving the V8 rear wheel drive in the snow.
V8 is all wheel drive
1:53 seems like the trans was slipping on that RT
On exhaust note alone the V8 will always win. Maybe it's the frequency or pitch...not sure but V8s just naturally sound better. Frankly I've never heard a 6 cylinder exhaust that I liked. That\s not to take away from their performance...but if I can't tolerate the sound I'm not buying. I'll stick with my HEMI thank you. :)
Speaking strictly off of sound between these two particular vehicles. The v6 sounds better, it surprised me once the v8 started up and was subtle compared to it's little brother. Id recommend an exhaust upgrade.
+Anthony Burgwald personal preference I suppose, but I like the way the V8 sounds much better than the V6.
I raced a 4l mustang with my 2010 sxt charger 250hp instead of this 300hp and it could barely get away and i eventually catched up...
Use the 5 speed v6 charger, the shifts on 5 speed are longer than the 8 speed. It hits 60 when shifts to 2nd
So did the charger win?
Is it worth it buying a 2008 R/T charger, with 180K miles bro?
Sounds like a time bomb with how bad pre eagle engines are.
+puneet7891 get a custom exhaust and cold air intake and then get a custom tune you can get 50+ hp with that
Has anyone actually owned these cars I just want to know if the V-6 has more engine problems and kind of quality control type of things versus like the V8 production models.
Nikita Chirich I haven't had any, but, I bought it brand new.
Bet the V6 avenger would make it a race 😂
That V6 didn’t sound too bad actually
Im happy I went towards the v8
hi im kinda new with charger and I wanted to know, does Chargers have manual transmission?
+DRIDRI The Charger does not but the Challengers have an option for it!
+RP Productions thx a lot
