- No car is perfect so here are 8 things that aren't so great about my 2014 Dodge Charger R/T! This is an amazing car and I absolutely love it so this was hard for me to find things to complain about.

+RP Productions I have the 2009 charger R/T so I only get 368 hp. I threw on a Cold air intake and flowmasters with a cat back exaust. It definitely feels like I have more horsepower after that.

I have a 2015 charger Rt b5 blue. It's a big step up from my 2007 Impala SS.
Anything 8 years newer would be a step up from that shitbox

I'm reading all the comments and is funny to me cause a lot people hate chargers for some reason I had a 2014 Ford Mustang gt and it was great till I starting getting problems with it! Now I have 2015 Dodge Charger rt see no difference performance wise granted my old mustang had more hp but it's nearly impossible to use the full penitential of your car in highway or street so people need to chill this ain't Gta smh
He said he got 15 MPG city/traffic driving and I personally would be happy with it. My current car does that on average and its only a V6
There are actually people that take these things to the tracks, fyi. Why buy a performance car if you don't care about performance? Just buy the v6 model if thats your Sunday driver lmfao

actually for street use the R/T AWD option with a 3500 stall, Paramount Stage 2 Valve body, Transformers Shift kit, CAI, Tune will walk all over a SRT8 for far less money.

With basic bolts on's and transmissions mods your launches will be much faster than a SRT8, light to light racing you'd kill him. By the time he catches up the race is over.

@@bellatorresbruh7900 well if they have the vented ootion and you select the auto climate option in the charger, whenever you remote start the car, the vented seats will turn on. That way when you get to the car, the leather will be cooled down a bit
Then you can get ceramic window tint, yeah costs more but damn is it a lot cooler on the inside...

Great review man, long time fan of your reviews and your cars. I'm a big GM & Ford guy, sorta looking at the AWD R/T Chargers at the moment. My guess on the SD card under the radio would be also for Nav updates, I know thats how it is on the My Ford Touch systems.
Thanks for the video. I think it's a cool idea to do things you love and hate about your car. I have an '09 Charger R/T so to hear you complain about the steering wheel saying it looks like something that came out of 2007 or 2008 is funny because the previous generation Chargers have the huge truck steering wheels and are even more bland looking, although mine does at least have the bolsters at 10 and 2, so I guess that's a slight plus haha. Anyway I enjoyed the video. Going to watch your other one on 10 things you love. Happy motoring!
love my 15 charger rt. I live in south texas and it gets freaking hot. I put ceremic tint on my windows and man am I glad I did it. almost no heat comes through. expensive tint but no regrets!
I have a 2015 challenger I love it. I changed the mufflers and cut out the resonators. I get a vibration on hwy now was wondering what u have Don to your 2016 and if u have the same problem.

I have a stock 2014 SE I just wanted to know if you'd recommend doing upgrades to it or just getting another model? I love chargers but it was my first car and I get people that want to race a lot but it's stock
The 3.6 has potential. Do a ported throttle body, ported intake manifold, and tune, and its very fast. Also pair that with a CAI and good exhaust system and even better. Wanna make it EVEN better? After that (pre-upgrades are recommended) Do a ripp supercharger system. Keeps up with the scats.
I sold my Charger R/T after 1 year for many reasons you just mentioned, such as gas mileage, etc.. You are right, wipes were awful, tires were not safe for the V8 RWD power-train and even the leather seats were not that great. I would add 2 other things to make it a 10. #9 Built Quality, after 7,000 miles I started to hear noises over 65 mph close to the glove box, like something was lose inside the dashboard. #10 The steering wheel feeling, very light even when you are stepping hard it keeps its behavior as if you were parking the car. The positive attributes are the Hemi V8, Interior/Trunk size, and its design.

My one complaint about chargers is that every time one drives behind me I have to make out if its a cop or not. Especially all black chargers since those are favored by our detectives

+Garret Burrow I didn't even bother looking at any other 4 door option when I bought this car. The challenger and charger are practically the same car minus the difference in doors and styling. Engine options, suspension, and all other relevant components are almost all the same which is why I have no trouble comparing this to Mustangs and Camaros since they're all around the same price and speeds.
I get what you're saying, but the simple fact that it is a sedan automatically puts it in a different class

+RP Productions Lol they don't compete. I have a friend with a full bolt on challenger RT and the best he has ran was a 13.3. Nothing to do with driver mod he has an automatic and tires. Stock 5.0s run 12.8 and they can even go 10s NA. Not to mention the new cameros are running low 12s stock. Sorry but these things don't hurt feelings.

I never had any squeaking from mine. And sadly I didn't record that, I wish I would have. I bought dark smoke tint from MetroRestlying and cut them to fit.
I just got a 2012 Charger R/T and it has the T handle shift lever and it is rather squeaky when changing gears. Did you ever resolve this? And if so, what did you do?

These cars don't overheat....Even old 1960's Charger's don't overheat...I drove my HEMI Charger 130,000 miles and it never overheated or broke down...Yes I drove on 100 degree days,even my 68 Charger RT I have put 200,000 miles on it over the years and is reliable and only overheated because the radiator sprung a leak and was clogged..Maint...These cars don't require a lot of maint...oil/gas etc..I know people who have 140,000 with the original plugs...I am in the car business so I see a lot...I drive a lot,as I live in the Valley onacerage and drive into the city..100 miles per day..never had a issue with my old 440 Charger or my 5.7 Hemi Charger,6.1 Challenger runs perfect and my new 392 Challenger runs perfect....These cars are better than Honda's and Toyota's ,VW,some Ford and GM are good as these but depends on which model.. Imports ar eover rated..check out our shop ,WOW !! Just WOW !! You can rebuild a Honda engine because it failed and the owner calls it routine maint,WOW !! Routine maint on a Dodge is oil and spark plugs.
+Multidimensional Mind I have 20k miles on mine now and I haven't had any problems with mine. I've been on numerous long distance trips and the car loves to cruise at higher speeds. I haven't really heard of many people having problems with these motors, they're pretty much bulletproof.

Great Vid Man! That SD slot was right in line with me. I can record mixes right to an SD card off my Denon Prime 4 mixer. I was pleased to have this in my 2014 RT! I can understand if u don't use one on a normal basis.
Does the 2014 model not have Bluetooth?
@@gabrielhernandez2287 Yes it does, but when your mixing from a dj controller U will need to either record to usb or sd card. It has both those as well! Thanks Man

Nope no tuners for me! I'm not going to risk loosing my warranty for a few extra HP. Rode in a friends car that had a Diablo tune and there really wasn't too much of a difference.
I own the exact same car. 2014 Charger R/T (from Canada) and I can tell you that I absolutely love the tires my vehicle came with. Michelin Energy brand I believe. My windshield wipers are perfect. I might need to replace them in the winter and use the stock ones again in spring (that's how much I like them) The SD card spot is my FAVORITE. Because I put all my music on SD card instead of bulky USB's that are in the center console (hard to get to not to mention). The SD card is always up to date, I can go in vehicle quickly eject it update the list on my mac and bring it to the vehicle again. The color black.... my favorite. It forces me to clean the car more frequently. I wouldn't ever get any color but black. I also love the cloth seats. I hate leather seats (they dry out, they cut / scratch easily. They are too hot in summer and too cold in winter.. not my taste at all)

I still don't see why people don't see that the charger and challenger are practically the same car. Same engine. Almost same everything. Times are fractions apart form each other. MOST other sedans cant compete. Excluding cars like the Cadillac cts-v which at that point could be considered a luxury car more than a sport. While dodges are on the heavy side they still put up numbers that compete with the camaro and stang until the higher end. Which is to be expected with the gear ratio in the charger/challenger. The 2 extra doors on the charger shouldn't put it out of the sports car group. That's like saying putting a campershell on the bed of a truck makes is an SUV or minivan. Now i'm not a die-hard dodge guy. I prefer the mustang but you cant deny that the numbers on the charger put it in the same class as the stang camaro and challenger. According to 0-60specs.com they are all around 4-5 seconds 0-60 *I am assuming these numbers are on a track*. I'm not saying that the charger isn't a sedan but the numbers put it in the sports/muscle car group.
A friend of mine would like to swap his Rt 2014 with my Mustang V6 2014, Does that sound like a deal?
But my 0 to 100(km/hr) Is insane for a V6 and I do get a good mileage out of it .

The two "main" competitors of that car are not the Mustang or the Camaro... it's the Chevy SS, and the Ford Taurus SHO... two big, heavy cars.

I always feel that the Charger is closer to a muscle Chrysler 300 than it is the Challenger, even though they're all practically on the same chassis. I keep pining over a Challenger, but for practicality, sake (as well as MSRP) I have a Charger RT AWD in mind for my next car. We'll see. I really don't like auto trans though.

I personally love the sd card slot. I bought a bunch of cheap ones to throw my music on, and its great! But all in all I love the videos dude.
TBH, the SD card port is pretty genius. You can load a shit ton of music onto a card and since its flash memory, its instant recall. Also, if i'm not mistaken, this allows you to upload some custom background pictures onto your menu display so you don't have to be looking that the stock GUI. It's not a bad little piece of tech but yeah the placement is kind of odd. would have served better if it was a bit more hidden.

I own a 2014 Charger SXT. Although equipped with a much less powerful 3.6 ltr I still love the overall performance of both engine and suspension. I use the SD slot a lot. I load up albums to choose from and will never re-subscribe to satellite.

Thing I hate about my charger: i can't affort it, it gets meh mpg, probably wont be able to keep up with maintenance after the 100k mileage mark, and I currently dont own it lol

+RP Productions I just traded my 2011 Black Charger R/T MAX in on a 2016 Black R/T Road & Track. So I have a Charger R/T R/T The name sounds redundant. One item I miss most on the 2016, and it is not offered on any optional package, is the heated and cooled cup holders. The spoiled me. To make up for it, this car has vented front leather trimmed seats. You can feel it blow (2 fans per front seat) heated or cooled air up through the seat and seat back. It is great for a hot interior black car. My previous Charger I had some illegal in Florida 15% window tint applied all the way around plus a strip across the front with a cut out so that it would not interfere with the auto dimming headlights camera. I have the same 5.7 L engine but of course this year is the 8 speed and the Road & Track package included a 3.07 rear end, performance suspension, 3 mode electronic stability control and came with huge heave duty breaks. It takes corners great and stops short and straight. The electric steering has three feedback settings. It also has the Super Track Pak that includes Dodge Performance pages on the 8.4" radio, Nav, backup camera screen. It shows all kinds of settings and performance readings like 0 to 60, 1/8 mile 1/4 mile, stopping distance, launch engine speed setup and just some real neat things. What I wasn't told the Chargers don't have is a CD player in their Premium Sound Package. It does have an SD card slot but it is now located in the center console. My first charger came with the Firestone's and I had to laugh at your comments. They were made out of foam rubber. I might have got 15,000 miles on them. I never could get a good balance on them. I put some Michelin Pilot Sport on the car and they did real good, but they cost. This new Charger came with Goodyear 245/45X20. I was not told there was not a spare tire of any type, just a little compressor and some liquid sealant that is not supposed to hurt the tire pressure sensors. The tires are all season which I don't like living here in Florida, I don't need them. I could of had a more aggressive tread. This is not a super fast accelerating car and top speed has a 145 mph limiter where the 2011 had a 130 limiter. The 2016 is over all a very improved version of the 2011 with much nicer more rounded lines on it. The front grill is much more aerodynamic and the fun factor is much higher. It is a good sleeper car against someone who starts hard but not hard enough.
I've owned 3 black cars and yes they are high maintenance in terms of keeping them clean, but once they are washed and waxed they look beautiful. I'm very particular about keeping my vehicles ultra shiny! For me, red is the easiest color to keep clean. Nice car btw!

I was told the SD card slot was for the navigation system. You go on line and get updates to road construction and new highways and roads, then put it in and update the system. I've never used it, so I don't know.

FYI, SD slots are usually for Navigation map data...but not usually put out in the open like you're swapping that thing like a CD. Only time my Nav SD comes out is to update the maps...then back in for another 3 months.

I've had my 13 charger rt for about 3 months and NEVER noticed the sd card slot before I saw this video. CD slot has that slight blue glow so I saw that but never the slot just above it.
I have a black 2014 charger but a v6 :( i feel the pain about the paint. v6 gets better gas mileage though. mine came with sports tires and chrome rims. cloth seats do suck. sd card is in the arm rest for me. My shifter is one of those that you find in the new challengers and chargers kinda like a bmw. And i have a 8 speed transmission. Plus i live in spring texas so traffic does hurt like you said.

love the video, i agree fully with what you are saying, For the interior, I like it more then the challenger, it was the one reason why I got a charger instead of a challenger, the challenger had a very crappy interior for that year.

Anyone that drives a Charger should love what they have hemi or 3.5 or the 3.6! Alot of people would die to have what you got!; I gotta charger myself and love it they stand out more than any car on the road today as we speak!
I have a 2018 Chrysler 300s with the 5.7 hemi in it a modded out with exhaust system and air intake in mine is black but I add some features to it my car is got the white dude stripes down the middle and I add the highlight with the yellow pinstripe yellow brick calipers yellow rollers yellow real diffuser with a bill front splitter it's a beautiful car which could see it you saw it you love it
I got a 2015 Charger R/T so I was curious to see what this video said... seeing this is about the 2014 model some things don't apply; they definitely did improve the steering wheel and the shifter in the 2015 model, though my complaint about the steering wheel is that the material is far too soft; it barely skimmed my jeans one time and ever since it now has a very easy to feel "scrape" on the bottom of it. They upgraded the 5-speed to an 8-speed transmission, though many have had some odd shifting troubles with it, myself included. The firestone firehawks I agree have got to be the worst tires I've ever driven on; went to take a left turn when it was barely a little moist outside and damn near started doing donuts at ~20mph! For the love of god what were they thinking?! Put some Pirellis or Falkens or... seriously, ANYTHING else on this car. As far as the SD Card... well, the old system used to have its own hard drive and USB slot you could copy from but they changed the mygig system around since then; they did put it in a more discreet location in the 2015 model (in the back of the inside of the center console/armrest) and I for one like that they at least provided SOME way to put your own custom music / playlists into the car, but they REALLY botched documenting it in ANY way shape or form! I had to scour google to figure out that in order for it to recognize "playlists" you need to make a text file with a .m3u extension on it that's a list of all the files you want to be in the "playlist"... I don't see what was wrong with just treating folder = playlist like they did before, but hey as long as it works.
I'm right there with you, I had a 06 RT and loved it, just decided it was time for an upgrade and got 2015 RT which I also love, and the 8 speed transmission is way better than the 5 speed in my 06! I can sympathize with you on the black paint, both have been Black simply because nothing looks as mean as a CLEAN black car :-) but it is a pain to keep up! I will probably be a charger owner for life!

Like LEXUS reliability? No.
But, it should last 150,000 miles or more with regular maint. and it has much more character and isn't as boring as a run of the mill Lexus sedan......which looks like 10 other Japanese high end sedans on the market.
+Klaus Reliable YES,better than imports...I had 130,000 on mine (was totalled) but people I know have over 200,000 and RAM trucks with the HEMI have 350,000 miles on the original engine..Chrysler has the most vehicles in the 200,000 mile club ! Have to be 1 owner etc..but original..They don't overheat...like any car if the radiator is plugged or leaks due to no maint and lots of miles ,it may overheat then might break,like any car..These don't overheat...bulletproof reliable ! When you buy used with any car you are taking a chance,if it was beat on with burnouts flying over curbs/bumps driving like an idiot all the time,low on oil due to never changing it or checking it,then you bought a lemon..

I believe they decided to use the SD card because it was more reliable in performing. My 08 RT can be picky about what usb thumb drive brand is used to upload music/photos. Droning is something that I noticed as you were driving; I think the 2015’s with the 8 speed does a better job of masking the drone noise (MDS).
+FHFOFJHE the camera picks up a decent amount but in person it's really not bad and just sounds like a car with louder exhaust lol. But yes I've heard nothing but great things from the new 8 speeds, I'm looking forward to testing one out!
The door checks on mine are annoying. The front doors never stay open in a good spot and they try to close on you. Also the car has quite a bit of roll after putting the 5 speed in park.

I'm guessing the primary function for the SD reader is for map updates. That being said, why not hide it like everyone else?
i think that the sd card slot was made for music storage. When you really think about it, it isn't that bad of an idea to have like 16gb worth of songs pre loaded onto your car. it was probably designed to be an option for people who didn't want to deal with wires and didn't have a bluetooth phone. and also one more thing... did the sport mode come with the blacktop? because I've been trying to figure out why my 2012 rt doesn't have it?

But yeah I believe part of the blacktop package was the sport mode feature.
i agree with that. i had the same reaction as you when i first saw it. until my friend pointed out its use i didn't really see a point.
+RP Productions Good Review. to add some validity to my comment Im an owner of a 2013 Chrysler 300. I had the choice between a same year RT or my current car. Better gas, more gears, leather, touch screen and a Beast system. The charger only match the touch screen but that engine was its party piece. Both good choices.
I use the SD slot to hold over 11,000 songs and full audiobooks or podcast(The Smoking tire).

+eduardoig17 you're able to update the nav via the SD card slot but I also believe you can do it through the USB port in the center console.
***** oh ok then yea i don't see the point either. if i had the option i would just update with a usb. everyone has USB flash drives laying around, not many people have SD cards. and if they do they have the micro sd and not the regular sd
i totally agree with you 100% on the tires....complete garbage. Worst tires I've ever had. The wipers are kind of mediocre but i didn't buy the car for the wipers obviously haha. SD card slot is kind of funny, like 10 years late on that idea. Other then that though like you said, I love the car. Its quick and handles alright for what it is annnddd its practical for everyday use unlike the camaro and mustang.

I AGREE .......I HAVE A 300 C HEMI......2005......BUT I ACCENTUATED IT WITH THE FACTORY CHROME BY ADDING A COPPER PAINT SCHEME TO MY BREAK CALIPERS......ETC......SO IT THROWS OFF THE ALL BLACK PAINT
I have a 2011 Charger RT Max. It was my dream car and I love it to death. Only complaints that don't make it a perfect 10 in my book is the stock exhaust, could use more power out of the 5.7 in Stock form, and the transmission. My car was never offered with paddle shift and really my biggest complaint is that it was never offered in a manual. other than that the car is great. Power and exhuast are easy. transmission not so much.

No it has 2.61 gears.
Ah ok! Yeah the 3.06 gears really liven up the car and I feel like they should be the standard gears among R/T's.
The worst thing about these is the front suspension needs to be changed every 20k miles especially in areas with speed humps and holes in the road ..

I am a fellow charger owner, 2011 and i love the car but theres one HUGE probably you didnt notice that i found and it is no manual trans.
From my personal experience, leather seats in these cars are all for show. They're noisey, they're hard to take care of, they're not really all that comfortable especially when your skin gets sticky and if you don't have tint they get hot. I would actually like to swap out my leather seats in my SRT.

Cruise on 75mph with my 2012 rt chally....Boise, Idaho to Seattle, Washington on one tank of gas.... I just put 16 Ngk spark plugs in it but still....lol
I have a black Camaro 1/LE 2013 an a 2014 Silverado but I've built the truck up so much that it beats mine an most cars in my area. The trucks getting twin turbos in summer then ill need to find a new daily lol

I got the same car blacktop rt and i hate that after like u wash it and u can notice evrything i wish i would have chosen a grey on instead lol and the srt as well would have been cool
+enrique beltran Yeah if I could go back in time I would have bought the redline red but now the B5 Blue is my favorite on the 2015's. Black looks good when it's clean but yeah you do notice every little spec of dirt on it.

I have the same vehicle. It is in for major engine work covered by powertrain but seriously....40K and a partial rebuild! And I don't do anything special with it. Also in for rear differential service and transmission service. I got a Challenger for a rental and it is probably a V6, the vehicle is so much lighter to steer than my Charger and the Charger could use the better steering wheel of the Challenger. Love the shifter on the Challenger too. This is at least my second Charger and I love Chargers, but heck, I am really enjoying the Challenger ride. I mean, a rebuild???!!!!
i was surprised by the SD card also, however as you probably already know, compared to other vehicles with touch screen the dodge charger's touch screen is highly responsive. so if you load all you favorite music on an SD card it is accessible very fast and the way it organizes tracks makes it very accessible, easy to listen to, making it safe to drive without touching the scree
Great video!! I have a 4 speed trans in my 10 Charger SXT..... hated it! Drove the 15 Charger SXT. The 8 speed trans is amazing, very smooth, good shift points...definitely an improvement.

Yep. That's one reason why I didn't get the 2014 model. The inside looks real cheap. I hate the way the steering wheel and shifter looks.
