FACT BE KNOWN!!! An R/T though not for the long haul! Can usually take a scat or hellcat off the line! R/T can put the power down easier! I’ve driven all (3) the R/T for a daily driver! Is the most fun & feels the safest! But nothing beats a HELLCAT supercharger whine! 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽

The R/T is by far the best daily driver you can get from Dodge. It has more than enough horse power to have fun. Second the Scat Pack and Hellcat are really for hard core enthusiast who like hitting the track. If you are daily driving something like a Hellcat you are wasting money because you will be spending sooo much in gas and general maintenance it wont be worth it in the long run.

They’re just way more cheaper to own and take care of, but I’ve thought about getting a 6.4 but they just want to much and there’s a lot you can do to the 5.7 to make it compete with a 6.4 or Hellcat. Honestly you do raise a good point, only buy what you can afford BUT the scat pack is much better. It actually utilizes the 8 cylinder engine so much better. Its all about you, if you have an RT and you love it then there is no reason to feel the need to trade it in for a 392 Scat Pack or a hellcat. There are actually 5.7L Hemis that are faster than stock 392 Scat Packs with just bolt-on's. Please stop hating on RT when you are paying $90,000 for a hellcat because for some reason that waffle maker on the 6.2L adds over $25,000 to the msrp?

The rt is great for modding. If you dump say 15k into the car you can reach some serious power. Especially if you do the work yourself. You also have to remember that for a streetcar the rt is a lot of power. The days of the hellcats have destroyed the idea of buying a street car. He also is no where near fbo. The srt manifolds are good but nothing beats lts. Also no intake manifold and I do not remember if he has a tb. If you know how to mod and have a decent amount of money to drop. The rts are very reliable under normal conditions. You can take say 30k you didnt spend on the hellcat by buying the rt you can build an easy 1000-1500 crank race car. For daily driving you obviously dont want the full everything for daily driving but it is capable. Most people do not go into a car and want to mod it. Also the 5.7 takes really well to low boost and nitrous. If you put drop ins in you can run 600 wheel safely on more than 6-7 psi. Going na putting a cam and drop ins in you can reach 500 crank without stroking it. The rt is a great vehicle you just have to know how to mod it. One last thing the trans “slipping” on rt drods car is prob his tune. It will put more psi into lower rev shifts. It may feel like it is slipping but it really isnt.

Lot of good information in this video. Thanks for the insight. As a 35 year old it is comical to hear you say that muscle cars just started getting popular back around 2015-2016. They have never not been popular and I remember when the "new" Charger came out back in like 2006 we were all chomping at the bits to find out about what kind of crazy stuff Mopar was up to. Nonetheless I appreciate your insight because I have never owned one of these newer Mopars. I do however own and daily a 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis. You are NOT WRONG about getting used to the power and wishing you had saved your money and gotten something faster. I have a full custom dual exhaust, k&n intake, sct tuner with a custom tune and this thing is so slow....🤦🏼‍♂️

Now that I’m more experienced, I am on the fence with upgrading to a 392 or keeping the RT for a few more years and getting the hellcat. But I think the RT is a great first muscle car, if you’re looking for racing I would go with the SRT. But I always get compliments on mine and it sounds great

As a RT owner of four years I completely agree with everything you said. Now I got rid of my RT a couple years back but I can honestly say it was fun at first in then quickly I regretted not getting the scat pack charger !!! In my opinion do NOT buy a RT at all because you will get tired of it before you think 🤔 trust me. Either get the V6 with a good bit of bells an whistles or the scat pack honestly. If I could do it over again I would probably go with the V6 fully loaded because you can’t use the power all the time an you find yourself at the gas station a shit ton an it just gets old. This is just my option after owning a good bit of vehicles in my time.

the 5.7 is the most used engine in chrsyler so i disagree everybody doesn't have hellcat money and you beat the car up so what would you exspect you have to get the good diff if you going to do donuts like scat packs and upgrade the suspension and it willl still be cheaper then even a scat pack i rather build my car in the long wrong and on top of thing happen what if you cant afford that payment due to covid or anything?

I'm gonna go ahead and fact check this. I think there is some things worth mentioning here that the video didn't cover. RT's can be cheap to mod, there are some critical mods that need to be done this video doesn't mention, and that there are some advantages over the 6.4. NOTE: I'm not criticizing the 6.4. It's a great motor. I think the trim level you choose depends on how you wanna enjoy your car.
-For the RT, the first thing you MUST do is get a 3.09 Limited Slip Diff off the Scat Pack. I really do not know why they put that stupid open diff on the RT. Also, I'm not sure what you were doing to make the diff crack, but it sounds like you were doing some crazy fun stuff.
-The second critical mod is the cam. RT Drod does not have this on his car, and it is the reason why he has not picked up much power. The RT comes with a weak ass cam. I swapped a stock 392 cam into my RT. Man, the car has surely picked up on the top end. It is able to rev up to 6500 RPM. With RT Drod's other mods, he would likely be beating Scats with the cam, since he's running E85 and has long tube headers. A cam swap alone will net you 50 to 60 whp.
-The 6.4 motor is optimized from the factory as a naturally aspirated motor. When you mod an RT, your mods drastically change the car. As for the 6.4, the gains on them are quite minimal, since it's optimized from stock. This fact can make the modding process less enjoyable, as you'll be spending a bunch of money for a minimal gain. A cam swap and a set of long tube headers will be pretty expensive and you won't really get much out of it.
-The 6.4 and 6.2 supercharged motors are technically built off of the 5.7 platform. The 6.4 is a bored and stroked 5.7 with a better cam, an active intake, and shorty headers. Hence why these parts swap over easily. This is the main reason why the 5.7 is so much fun to mod.
-I have no idea why RT Drod's transmission is slipping. The Scat Pack and the RT have the exact same transmission. There is likely something missing from his build which is creating issues. The transmission is able to handle up to 600 WHP. Above that, it'll have issues.
-It's worth mentioning that the throttle body in the Scat Pack is the exact same as the RT. So unless RT Drod had the throttle body bored by Fastman, he probably wasted his money.
-The 5.7 is able to handle boost much better than the 6.4. As I mentioned earlier, the 6.4 is actually a modified 5.7, which is optimized to be a naturally aspirated. The 6.4's compression ratio makes it insanely dangerous to boost. Where as the 5.7 is able to be built up for boost and hit the 500+ WHP range and still be reliable. Making a supercharged 6.4 be reliable is gonna cost a LOT, to the point where you may as well buy a Hellcat.
For my 2019 Charger RT, I pretty much swapped over parts from the 6.4. I did the 392 intake manifold, 392 cam, Mopar Stage 1 valve springs, 3.09 LSD, SRT Headers/Mid Pipes, and finally a 93 octane tune. I spent $2,000 on parts, and $1,000 on labor. The parts are quite cheap compared to the after market equivalent. Boy does this thing drive like a completely different vehicle. The car is putting down 395 WHP, vs a stock 392, which is putting down 420 WHP, plus I'm not very afraid of putting a supercharger on it.
Now let me point out, I never actually planned to do this, but the mods happen. I thought the stock 5.7 would be enough. Just like you said, it was a lot of fun at the start, but then I get used to it. I could have put down the extra $4,000 to get the 392, and gotten the extra 25 WHP. Had I got the Scat Pack, I'd definitely be quite happy with it's power, as well as kept my warranty, however I wouldn't have been motivated to mod it and learn a lot about cars. It's been an enjoyable experience, and I have greatly lengthened the time I enjoy it by watching it grow. A lot of Scat Pack owners still get used to the power, and want to get more power, but the HP to $ they get from the mods is really not worth it.
Long story short, the trims for the cars serve different purposes. Each has their own pros and cons.
-The 5.7L RT is a great car to introduce you into what it is like to drive a muscle car. However, you will get used to the stock power after a few months. But, the car is an amazing foundation for some insane mods. The mods will net you a lot of HP gain per $ and you'll have a blast when building up your monster. Each mod will have significant gains. You get a lot of freedom, whether you wanna go with a naturally aspirated build, or a supercharged build. You'll take great pride in it and it'll be unique. However, if you are not intending to mod because you don't wanna deal with the hassle, then get the Scat Pack. If you want something because it is fast, it is a fact that you'll most likely get too used to the power.
-The 6.4L Scat Pack will get you amazing power right from the factory. It's technically is Dodge's amazing build for the RT. You are getting a naturally aspirated monster from the factory, which is covered by the warranty. You are getting a great bang for your buck. If you have no intentions of modding, and don't wanna deal with the hassle of modding, definitely buy a Scat Pack. However, if you are intending to mod it, this is not the car for you, as the gains will be small for the money you'd be spending on each mod. However, it is less likely you'll get the feeling that you need to spend money on mods, but it's quite possible it could happen.
-The 6.2L Supercharged Hellcat is for the people who want the most power, and will pay top dollar for it. You'll be getting a supercharged monster right from the factory. If you are going to mod it, you will pick up insane power, and you'll be able to hit 1,000 HP.
PS: If you bought an RT, have gotten used to the power, and are considering trading for a Scat, be very careful. You don't want to carry over too much negative equity. If you don't want to deal with the hassle of modding, wait till you got a good chunk of the RT paid off. If you don't mind, consider modding it. You'll still be getting a great bang for your buck, like you would with the Scat, plus you'll enjoy watching your car grow, and be personalized to you.

for me i just want the rt because its got the nice v8 sound with plenty of power to be a daily. im not out here drag racing or racing at all. there is always someone who is faster than you so i couldnt care less about more power. the extra money for a scat doesnt seem worth it to me personally. im hoping to find a nicely spec'd RT like a daytona and i would be very happy with that for a long time. i agree with you that i would probably get used to the power after some time but i dont think i would get "bored" because i dont really drive fast or hog my cars around at all. and if after a couple years i feel like i need more power i can always throw a few mods at it. ive always loved the sound of a cammed car so thats probably what i would do, with a nice exhaust and thats plenty

Why you SHOULD buy a Charger/Challenger RT!!
I know you said this but, quite a bit less expensive yet decent performance. Also when you tack on taxes and registration fees every year, it adds up.
    Insurance costs.
5.7L uses regular octane vs, 6.4L and 6.2L which use premium.
Gas mileage. What does a Hellcat get (does it pass everything but gas stations)?
2019 and 2020 have basically the same look/hood and that V8 sound (albeit not the blower whine of the Hellcat).
Sure, 245s don't have the traction (or look) of 275s (or 305s!) but they are less expensive and probably don't need to be replaced as often (due to burnouts).
You mentioned reliability and that your diff cracked. I doubt most people will have that or any drive-train problems.
Traffic/speeding violations. Driver dependent for sure but less likely with the RT. Ditto regarding accidents.
Less tempted to race which in my state is a 12 point violation and revocation of driver's license.
Still seats 4 comfortably (fairly comfortably in the Challenger).
Can spend cost savings on Plus and/or Technology packages, window tinting, sound system, wheels, non-performance related items.

At the end of the day it comes down to internals. Anything lower than a hellcat platform is risky to add bolt ons. Hellcat internals are much stronger than the others and can handle 1,000 horsepower easily. You would have to rebuild the engine on a scatpack let alone an RT. Once you get a taste of power thats it, you'll want more. Hellcat is well worth it.

If you are trying to race and beat every car on the Road get a Scat or Hellcat! If u want to have a daily driver that will beat 90 percent of most cars on the road and sound like a beast u get an RT. If u not racing why u need more horse power? It’s still a V8 Hemi. U abuse any car it’s gonna give u problems straight up. But the differential issue I had as well. Had to take to dealer. But really are u trying to beat a scat? Who cares they look and sound good. Just tune, add headers, short tube headers and enjoy having a nice car. Because u can have a Hellcat and get gapped by a track hawk. What u gonna do trade in your Hellcat because u lost? U still have a nice ass car lmaoooooo RTs are great. Who wants to die going 180 or 190 to prove a point that your car is faster? Lmao 😂😂😂

The 5.7L Gen lll Hemi was revised believe in '09, and like all Hemis there reliable if you take care of them. Also note that you can make 400HP with the 5.7 like in the Ram's if you swap the cams. If you didnt know the cam in a 5.7 Hemi is different in the anything else other than the Ram; which is bigger everything else its smaller. So if you put the Ram cam in a charger Hemi it will get that extra HP just like in the Rams, AND BEST PART IT DOESN'T VOID THE WARRANTY BC ITS A MOPAR PART!

@@kevuchiha3034 the part i believe is somewhere around ~$800, and the installment price depends on the place who does it. When i did it back in 2019 i got the part for $700 and the dealer installed it for $1,500 since i had a good relationship with them they said normally they would charge $2,000 for installation.

Yeah you are right and bet that the majority of RT owners would agree with you to, as the platform is just too heavy for the power that they produce and is a waste because the vast majority of people upgrade within a short period of time. I waited until I could get an SRT, and is always best to wait until you're financially able to do it right. Actually it's really more than just power, as the better trim levels have Bilstein suspension as well as Brembo brakes and is the only way to go. They're always trying to catch up to us by adding a bunch of mods, but don't consider that we also mod ours and are always further ahead. They're not designed for performance and have weak internals, so that is why they're not reliable and can't take much abuse

Im 19 and saving up for my first muscle car, a widebody scatpack challenger but If I save a bit more I could get a hellcat. Insurance would be more of course but I’m so conflicted 😔

Buy what you can afford and what you want ..... it don’t matter .... you can get a $60,000 hellcat and get walked by a base Mustang GT with $5000 in mods ...... so it don’t matter it’s always gonna be something with more power ..... just get what you like

I currently own a 2019 charger RT plus and what I can say is it’s definitely a steppingstone muscle car it’s a fun car and it’s decent horsepower but not enough to keep up with the other muscle cars so therefore you’re better off getting a Scat pack I wish a year ago I wasn’t being so hardheaded and just went with the scat pack because I have dumped almost 3 grand into my charger putting the 309 gear Long tube headers and intake and exhaust and exc
