I unfortunately gave up on Sony many years ago but going back many years it was sony and the likes of Nokia that was the king of phones.
If Sony produces a real flagship in the future my money is waiting for it.

The Xperia proberly would of shined compared to a different phone but reviewers do what there flagships compared and it was all rock solid evidence Sony failed massively in the software prossessing department compared to other competitors. Something that us tech heads need to know before we decide to purchase such a product

@@Antsummerfield83 most of them are, I don't think alot of these reviewere even know what's makes a camera good they all speak of dynamic range and love the hdr super unnatural look. If you really look at the photos on a big screen you can count leaves and blades of grass individually on the xperia shots you can't on the s10+, as a matter of fact check flashing droid s10+ vs xperia 1 comparison and you'll see.

The stabilisation on the Sony Xperia video is horrendous! And the camera is not good enough as well.
You're probably a delusional Samsung fan boy. The camera is fantastic! And poor stabilisation on the video recording? There's a setting on video recording that you can change to make the stabilisation better. But the stabilisation will get better with software updates anyway.

Its a different angle taken for the shot. The smoke detector is behind the light fixture. Check out the wall art below

I have a Sony xperia xz premium. I don't know why, but every Sony smartphone always had a problem with the lighting. There's always something completely blown out in the picture. Don't know why. They never fixed it. S10 plus looks like it takes good pictls though.
Samsung put industrial standerds for other manufacturars by releasing new phones at start of the year
The S10 was playing catch up LOL, hole punch was done by Huawei last year, 4 cameras, TOF sensor, reverse wireless charging etc.

Supersaf you've successful trolled Xperia 1, which likely it's not true, Samsung S10+ doesn't exceed, it is per with it in some areas but not beyond it. Only Good photographers knows how to use Sony cameras, and you ain't, you didn't even try shit. When you compare, explore the device's full potential, do manual or auto just to show that I've tried this but the outcome is this, but you didn't, even with auto, Sony has some seconds image scene detection, so it needs timing too to chose the eligible auto settings the phone has detected
I mean, he takes pictures the same way the general public does. Yes, I do agree with you on manual modes as I tend to use them from time to time, but the general public does not know how to operate using manual mode, so reviews are done on how 80% of people use their devices. Sadly, the Xperia sucks when it comes to that. It really makes me sad too, because I remember Sony being industry leading back with the Z1S and the Z3.

Yet another delusional Samsung Galaxy fan. The S10+ isn't clearly the winner. Both cameras are great, but the Xperia 1 does have a slight edge over the S10+ here and there, especially colour saturation.

When you use touch and focus/exposure function the phone automatically change the light metering to POINT mode , when this happen the camera will ignore all the highlights and will NOT use HDR since the priority is now the point where you selected. Since you always use dark clothes the camera will increment the exposure in order to get a brighter picture.
This is not an error or a bug, this is the normal behavior on cameras and that is how works
The focus test isn't really valid, since the focus mode on video is completely different, Sony use slower speed to produce a comfortable change of focus. The phone can autofocus and auto exposure at 10 fps, and that is faster than S10 since can't change the focus at that speed.
A Sony Xperia 1 user here : I was expecting a more positive review from SSaif... But I'll have to give it to him... Was a very good and unbiased review... Hope Sony does improve on its software, or at least somebody is able to port Gcam for the Xperia 1.

Yes the Xperia does lack a bit in Auto hdr mode but in manual HDR it takes the photos in a whole new dimension...
in telephoto they r quite equal and in wide lens sony is much sharper but samsung has a better dynamic range due to the camera app....

While I do believe the S10+ handles the dynamic range better, I don't believe that the differences are really as big as this video is trying to showcase. I don't know about your unit, but I think it has some problems with it, because this one shows just how close they are than this video is saying

It could be the phone's problem or the user's problem, and I'm leaning towards the latter, since the other reviewers are also saying that the Xperia 1 is on par, and in some cases even beats the Galaxy S10+ in pure camera quality.
And I'm not saying this for promotion or payment, rather I'm just against biased comparisons, which is why I'm heavily questioning this video, as it is quite a sway from pretty much most of the other similar comparisons.
I don't want to assume that you've intentionally made the Xperia 1 photos to look bad to make the Galaxy S10+ superior, but I'm afraid that it might be true.

You might forget samsung has default HDR mode On and Sony doesnt, you should first turn this on before in manual setting. This may make up big difference in your video.
Why can't sony update the camera software/app ? They update the ps4 all the time with software improvements..

Ofc it must be heavily processed to get better dynamic range and detail on the shadow, xperia is blown up the highlight and so dark on the shafow. That is fact. Worst dynamic range on xperia.
I think sony have different modes for the camera... warm/cold/etc... this kind of out of the box comparison on default settings believe is not fair...
Just go on Manuel mode
and turn on HDR, other setting is auto

It's called Sony sucking AGAIN.
Sony need to invest in software development more. They already have great camera line ups (arguably the best), they make their own lenses, they produce and sell their sensors to most other companies. So hardware wise, Sony should be killing it in camera game on their mobiles but here clearly evident it falls short with stabilization, colours, hdr, exposure, etc.
