Some other things to check as well are: outside temp sensor reading. On my E46 it shows -40 due to a problem with the outside temp sensor. This will prevent compressor activation. Also, what are your pressures on the high and low side just before the system shuts down. If you have a restriction the pressure will build and it could shut down the compressor. Normally this is a bad expansion valve due to a defective receiver dryer.

You mention the auxiliary fan in this video.
A simple test for the auxiliary fan is to remove the plug connecting to the high pressure sensor with the air con turned on inside the car. The fan will spin up if the plug is disconnected and even though the compressor does not engage.
I just replaced my aux fan but still the compressor wont engage. But thanks for this video because it shows me how to run power direct to the clutch to see if I can engage it.
My scanner shows an error "1B IHKA magnetic coupling A/C compressor." On my 2006 E53 3.0D it is so hard to get to the compressor to check the current there.
My scanner shows the pressure sensor value at 1.5 when connected and 5 when not high pressure switch plug is disconnected. Is that a good value that would lead to compressor clutch engagement??

Hello, Check fuse 9 and fuse 20 which should be the main power supply to the IHKA. It would be worth taking it out as well and check the connections and power supply. Let me know if you need a wiring diagram.

Fuse 9 is still out and fuse 20 is in good condition. I took out the IHKA out and took it appart, but did not see any resistance or capacitor or transistor blown. It did not smell like any component was burned. I cleaned up the dust put it back together, and reconnected it and put fuse 9 back on, removed the battery for 9 minutes to reset and put it back after that and turned on the car and still the IHKA not turning on yet the blower is still runnigs. Took out fuse 9 again. Any thoughts?

Yes please send me a wiring diagram. I am not sure which fuses control the CCU. I checked all I could find from the forums but non say the solution to my issue. So far the only solution I see is to buy a new one and have the dealer reprogram it but I that is what I want to avoid.

+Paul Gilbertson I have a laptop running DIS software and progrman for programming. I purchased this off of ebay and is a program I am familiar with as this is the early BMW dealer software.

I have a 2002 540I which has the same IHKA system displayed on your video. Last week, I drove it ot the grossery store, and when I came back the heater blower was on and when I turned on the car, the climate control unit, never turned on yet the blower was still blowing. I turned off the car, and the blower kept going. To avoid getting the battery drained I removed fuse 9, got a new FSU replaced the fuse, and now blows harder, yet the CCU still not turing on. Any input on that?
