As someone who writes choreography for projects and reenactment purposes, I am always on the lookout for those who have come before or new ways of teaching. I am learning a LOT watching your videos here and on TikTok. Keep up the great work.
5:43 can I just say how much I LOVE that transition into the 7? The fact that top blade look like it's aiming for a 2 when the real threat is the 7... I could see a move like that ending the fight against an inexperianced jedi
Note to self Side strikes, Figure 8 spin but go back and forth, 3:46 alternate blades, (Tip from other video use like spear and back/side strikes like with a taiaha) Can also do back strikes but irl do not recommend exsept emergencies 6:00 block and parrying
1:36 with your forward thumb pointing out trace a figure eight or infinity sign in the air, that's a neat trick for beginners learning the 2,3,5 and seven beat weaves
I am not a practitioner of a double sided weapon ,but whenI do use them I prefer to have them grip more like a spear. It’s comfortable and allows for more movement.
Staff was my best weapon in kubudo training because it was the first weapon we were taught. The thing with a regular staff and a saber staff is the staff swing was stopped by the ribs, or body. You can’t do that as well with a saber staff or you cut your self in half. A Tonfa type saber would be fun to see. Tonfa was my second best weapon. Would love to see what y’all could work out with that.
Happy to know I was about 80% accurate in figuring out the basic strikes on my own. These videos are going to be INCREDIBLY useful for my friends and I as we learn the styles. Do staff sabers have to use their own forms? Or do they use augmented versions of the regualr forms?
Excellent demostration. Very clearly demostrated. I have challenged my kids with that. So cool! Such a good way to protect yourself while looking like a superstar 😃
Thanks man you guys are helping me practice more I made a lightsaber with Kylo Ren's and Darth Vader's lightsabers to make a double staff saber so cool
Older, but informative video. As someone with some Kobudo training in Hanbo and Bo (Short Staff & Long Staff respectively), I think there's a few techniques that would cross over into saberstaff as well. The two-handed figure eights and the crossover attacks still looked a bit awkward, but the rest was quite impressive. . There is a useful parry in Bo with a wrist twist to the outside, going into an attack when the wrist twist is reversed (can't remember the name of the move off the top of my head). I feel that, if exaggerated for effect, it would look very impressive with a saber staff. I might have to dig out my old training gear and shake off some of the rust to find out. I have been out of practice for a while; this just might motivate me to get back into it, thank you :D (and yes, I just found your more recent staff training video, watching that one next ;) )
Hey man! Where’d you get that sick double sided lightsaber? It looks awesome and I want to get one so badly! But I’m broke so cannttttt! Can you tell me where to order a cheap but good double sided red lightsaber for rough play that ships internationally?? Pls tell me😭😭😭😭
I CANNOT wait for my 2 CD twilight sabers to come in the mail so I can try some of this out! I have an extensive background with fire/contact staff so I want to explore the possibilities of hybrid contact-lightsaber techniques
very clear and simple to follow it has been difficult to learn how to use a double bladed saber thanks! I wonder if 2 people with double bladed sabers could duel. thank you I might enter a tournament with a double bladed saber.
Hey there! I really enjoyed to watch this video because i use a staff myself. I have a question (and im sorry if you get asked this a lot) but where did you get that staff? I do a lot of duelling and it would be handy, thanks!
is there any sparring video of this , not with light sabers , but with swords similar to mauls against someone with a mace , katana , kendo etc , something like those videos like "kendo vs long sword"
I have an idea for a new star wars lightsaber style. The "Lightsaw", it is similar to a chainsaw, and has a blade reminiscent of Kylo Ren, while being shaped more like a traditional Chainsaw.
Double bladed style is much more difficult and deadly. To both duelists. I think I'll stick with the more simple single bladed style. Great video though
I’m wondering where you get your sabers from. I already have a few myself and just ordered the double saber based on Darth Maul’s light saber from Vader’s Sabers.
I just purchased both the ‘dark legends’ dark saber and my own double bladed lightsaber from rebel sabers. so I believe this video will prove more beneficially instructional and even more lucrative in my lightsaber training provided I have the proper location and the money to properly invest in order to actually undergo this rigorous lightsaber training procedure. In other word I’ll keep tabs on this instructional RUclips video so I can properly train once I officially have more room to physically move about safely and undergo my own training with my rebel sabers brand double bladed lightsaber
That is a little trickier because you both need to be controlled with staffs, but its still the same points of attack and defense no matter the weapons
Instructions unclear. Accidentally killed all the younglings

Oh that nothing i stabed my master once because I held my lightsaber backwards

Nice! This one felt a lot better than the dual sabers tutorial - you drew attention to the different styles of the 9-count a lot better.
I am kinda sad that the dual lightsaber tutorial was kinda butched, I was most excited about this one.

I've always wanted to use double-bladed weapons. Good to know that I can use both overhanded and underhanded grips.
First time I tried out a double lightsaber, I lost my shoulder. Took a few years for me to type out this comment
Just received my Inquisitor saber for christmas, and i'm here to learn how to use it 😅📝

Very nice! What blade lenth would you recommend for a lightsaber staff?
serdna96 I’d say 24 - 28in max . Shorter is going to be better for starting out.
32 inch blades work well enough, if you're tall and got reach. Just depends on you, really
it depends on you height 4 feet to 5 feet 26 in 5.5 feet to 7 feet 32 in-38 in

Darth maul is my favorite character and this helped so much thx for the tips

THANK YOU! I needed this video for an upcoming cosplay. Side Note: Is the background music from the old RUclips video "Shoes"?
Underrated channel

I would love to see a tutorial on how to fight an opponent that's using a saberstaf or is dual wielding if you are only using a single saber.
Thx soon as u showed me i learned how to do it the same day
This will be helpful when i use a double bladed lightsaber
Thank You for this video. I will definetly use this in my channel. I needed A proper demonstration video.
Great video! I will be definitely using this for reference in our upcoming choreography. Thanks for the video, it was absolutely useful!!
who else kept killing themselves and came here to learn a few basics and accidentally became a pro?
Real
Damn, home boy is accurate with that bad boy! Done shaved his sleeve clean off without damaging his arm.

I missed a step and now I’m in the Naboo hangar fighting Liam neeson and Ewan Mcgreggor. I think half of me still gets it

I would like a video covering that floor sweep at the end and moves like it my gosh lol.
How long are the blades on your sabers? I’m just curious so I kinda know what to look for when it comes to blade length
Uhm it depends the one i have is 85cm per saber not including hilt

I found this video very entertaining, Mike. I know I'm two years late with this comment, but I just want to help the channel out with it.
can you please put a link to where you got that maul sabre. it looks incredible.
I wired up the electronics myself so there’s no link. Sorry

How do I buy mauls lightsaber. I'd want it to duel obv not abuse. So a company that focuses more on durability that flashy if you will
Is it weird that I think this guy would make a good Exar Kun?
no youre right lmao
Do you make a video teaching postures and footwork?
Falcão Gamer I go over basic footwork in my basics video. Haven’t done postures
@@Mikestarwalker OK thank you.
When will the videos of the forms of combat with the lightsaber come out, can you tell me?
Its harder in the middle, rather have your hand just above the middle for 1 handed flourish
As a staff practitioner I found that It is not only easier, It also leads to a faster spin due to the distribution of weight
