      She still hasn't killed someone that hasn't wronged her. If she kills someone totally innocent then I'll agree she's totally gone.

      She gouged out both his eyes then stabbed him repeatedly... then she taunted him... then she slit his throat. Given that Walder Frey killed her mother and brother, I'd say he got off easy...

      +cheynedogg I'll agree with that. She's on a path to vengeance. But she's still pretty damn brutal about it.

    What gave away Arya was when she called him 'My Lord' instead of 'M'lord', a call back to her discussion with Tywin.

    Cersei is not smart. Yes, dropping a nuclear bomb on your enemies will kill them. No shit. But she already didn't have the North, or the Vale, or Dorne, or the Iron Islands. Now, she has lost the Reach, and with it, the support of the largest army in Westeros, the Tyrell army. The way she gained her power has also completely annihilated any chance she had of keeping it. Besides, it doesn't take a genius to think of blowing up your enemies. It's literally the least sophisticated, most impulsive move you can make, and it has put her in a terrible political position. She is literally Queen of like a quarter of Westeros, if even that.

      The end is near for the lannisters, except tyrion

    • @janmil5630
      @janmil5630 8 лет назад +5

      She's smart. Not insanely smart, but smart nonetheless. I'm guessing you think Tyrion's smart? Well, he did say he believes Cersei possesses above average intelligence.
      She does stupid things though because her emotions cloud her judgement.

    • @MarkHogan994
      @MarkHogan994 8 лет назад +15

      Jan Mil
      She's insane. Yes, she may possess above average intelligence, but the bottom line is she barely uses it. She is irrational. And when you get her inner thoughts in the books, you can clearly see that she is mad, and has always done mad things, even when they were criminally dumb from a political point of view. Margaery was far smarter. It just so happens that unlike what Cenk seems to think, being smart can't save you from a nuke, and nuking your enemies doesn't require intelligence. Cenk always goes on about how he would bet on Littlefinger beating the White Walkers, which is another example of Cenk's belief that if you're smart you'll always win, and if you won you must have been smarter than your opponent. But that's not true. Brute force can win as well, and that's basically all Cersei uses. And that's what the WW use, and all the scheming in the world can't save you from that, because it's not a matter of intelligence.

    • @janmil5630
      @janmil5630 8 лет назад +1

      Mark Hogan Cersei not using her smarts is different from "Cersei is not smart" which was your opener.

    • @MarkHogan994
      @MarkHogan994 8 лет назад +7

      Jan Mil
      I know that. When I said "Cersei is not smart", I was speaking rather loosely, as a reply to Cenk's incessant claims that people don't give her enough credit for how smart she is. I was considering her actions to determine how intelligent she is, and based on her actions, one would have to say she is fairly unintelligent. You brought up the point about what Tyrion said, which led me to add nuance to my original statement : Cersei may indeed possess above average intelligence (which is a pretty low bar though, compared to Tywin, Tyrion, Littlefinger, Varys, Roose Bolton, the High Sparrow, Margaery, Olenna and others), but it doesn't really matter, because the bottom line is that she acts like an irrational, bloodthirsty fool, and is far less smart than most political players we've come to know. The fact that she killed them doesn't change that.

  • @krtwood
    @krtwood 8 лет назад +247

    Gotta disagree with Cenk saying that this showed that Cersei is smart. Yes, she won the battle. She's queen. Now what? She only planned one move ahead. She destroyed her immediate enemy but also lost her only allies, the Tyrells, her son, and her uncle. Jaime spent the entire season saying how all he cared about was her and now he's looking at her like she's Walder Frey. Who is standing up on the dais with her when she's crowned? Qyburn. That is the extent of people (not counting the undead) on her side at this point. That is Cersei's essential problem. It's not that she's stupid it's that she thinks she's smart and powerful enough to do it all by herself. Nobody can do it all by themselves and we saw both the Starks and Dany acknowledging that this episode. It doesn't really matter at this point what she did though because Dany was already going to roll over King's Landing anyway. Olenna and Margaery would have turned on her at the first sight of the dragons and the fleet because they aren't stupid.

    • @PaulPaulPaulson

      Put it this way, in the fight between who is dumber Sansa or Cersei, Sansa wins. Cersei managed to literally destroy all her enemies and become queen without anyones help. Meanwhile, Sansa had a good season going for her, and now screwed up by messing with Littlefinger and basically blowing him off, and you know that he will want revenge.

      I really missed Ben to point that out to those dumbasses.
      Cersei is not smart! and certainly not smarter than Margaery.
      Cersei lost everyone's including her son's support even before her trial.
      Her only advantage was that she had a nuke. She was defeated and left with only one last desperate move which was shortsighted and equally destructive to herself.
      She lost last of her children, declared war against Tyrells and Martells and possibly turned even Jamie against her. She lost her humanity and became mad queen in comparison to Daenerys who did the opposite thing.

      People have a problem with how fast they seem to travel but forget that the things that happen in the show aren't all happening at the same time. It's inferred that time has passed already, they don't have to drag it out to show that.

    The movement of pieces on the board may actually be an issue for some, but not for me. I can perceive multiple timelines occurring at different times rather than just a linear synchronized plot. Like a William Gibson novel, all the roads are on different curves, but they all intersect at the climax of the story for pronounced effect. The fact that they don't show me someone traveling a month and instead show me the result of the chess move, is a key to what makes this show personally so well done and so satisfying.

    I just realized something, Cersei is responsible for Margery's death, who was the granddaughter (correct me if I'm wrong) of Olenna Tyrell. So that means that Cersei just got revenge for Joffrey's death, without even knowing it!

    • @StitchGV
      @StitchGV 8 лет назад

      +BalazarsBrain I don't think she gives a fuck about rules anymore. There's literally NO ONE in the south to oppose her, and even if there was, I'm pretty sure everyone is terrified of her right now.. They probably all know it was her who blew up the sept, and they probably believe she also pushed Tommen out the window to put herself on the throne.

    • @BalazarsBrain
      @BalazarsBrain 8 лет назад +1

      "There's literally NO ONE in the south to oppose her" There are other possible claimants.. any of Robert Baratheon's bastards, someone from Robert's other ancestral houses.. Estermont, Blackwood, etc. and we know the Targaryens are on the way. Sure Cersei can claim the thrown but there's a lot going against her.. the Lannisters are on the decline, she's female, and she's older with no heir (as Lady Olenna pointed out).
      Yes the people fear her, but also probably hate her as well.. as she just blew up everyone's favorite church. The Tyrells obviously won't support Cersei's claim, and they have a powerful army right around the corner. The Tyrells also control the grain supply, and I'm sure the common folk won't be happy with Cersei if they're starving to death. I don't think she will have much support at all.

    Cersei isn't smart like Tywin or Tyrion. What she did worked yeah, but it's something Joffrey would've done, not Tywin. She's fucked up every major alliance and is now hated by everyone in the city. And she failed her goal of protecting her son anyway, She's got a low cunning, but you can bet she won't be anything close to an effective ruler in a war.

    • @Retotion
      @Retotion 8 лет назад +15

      Absolutely, I don't understand how Cenk honestly thinks it takes much of any brain power to just blow up your enemies. It's literally the crudest, most basic way to solve your problems. She's all emotion without any forethought to guide it.

      I don't think most people in the city know Cersei was behind the explosion. The Onion Queen figured it out after hearing of the aftermath. The peasants that taunted her during her walk of shame just know the sept is now gone. The people that would have accused Cersei all died in the flames.

    • @SteveGellerMusic
      @SteveGellerMusic 8 лет назад +3

      I disagree. 1. This was likely the wildfire still left over from the Mad King's attempt to blow up the city. Jamie speaks about it being there, but when he recounts the story to Brienne, it is totally unknown to her, which means that it is probably unknown to everyone other than him and a few other people. And he says that he never shares the story because no one would believe that the Kingslayer did something noble. And since during the rebellion things got crazy, and Robert was never really interested in the details of ruling, the wildfire was probably never removed, and now everyone associated with the rebellion (other than Jamie) has been dead for a while. So she didn't use up the rest of the cache of wildfire, she used what was there.
      2. She killed all of her enemies with it at once. A siege by enemy ships (and remember, she doesn't know about Khaleesi's oncoming invasion) wouldn't have given her less power than she already had (since she had none), and instead she gained all of her power back.
      3. Anyone in King's Landing who knows or would have suspected that Cersei was responsible for the blast is dead (other than those loyal to her). So she didn't destroy any new alliances, and the Queen of Thorns had already shown that she had no interest in working with Cersei.

      Killing Meryn was certainly more spur of the moment, but there were some aspects of it that were planned out. She didn't decide to kill him and then kill him within the span of a few minutes, she thought out how she would do it. And she also purposely made him suffer, it wasn't just killing for the sake of having him dead. And even back in season 3, she drove needle through that one guy's throat very slowly in the bar while taunting him when the Hound started fighting everyone. She definitely has experience with calculating the suffering of others.

    17:01 My favorite line was when she said "I killed your High Sparrow, and all his little sparrows. All his septons, all his septas, all his filthy soldiers....because it felt good to watch them burn. It felt good to imagine their shock and their pain. No thought has ever given me greater joy." It's the climax of her speech, and you see truly how diabolical she is. Also Lena's acting is superb.

    Lancel - This blows
    Margaery - Shit

    Mace - I could go for some barbecue right about now - oh, wait...
    Kevan - I don't even get a bloody line
    Pycelle - I would have gotten away with it if it wasn't for those pesky kids and their knives
    Tommen - Time to make my mark on King's Landing

    What The Flick squad... love your reviews as always! A great majority of what you all discuss is on point. Just a few things I want to point out for ya: 1) I think Howland Reed knows about Jon's true parentage because he was at the Tower of Joy with Ned. He's still alive both in the books and we haven't seen him on the show (yet) 2) Varys was on the boat because the Martell and Tyrell ships were already sailing alongside Daenerys (you can pick a few ships with their sigils if you look really closely) 3) Daenerys 'loves' Dario but isn't 'in love' with him lol. She says to Tyrion that it scares her that she felt nothing to say goodbye to someone she thought she cared about but really, she just wanted to get it over with. 4) If you put on really high quality ear buds, it's subtle, but you can actually pick up a little of what Lyanna whispers. She says, "his name is Jon and he's... [voice trails off]". So at least we know his name actually is Jon and not some weird Targaryen name like Aegon or Visceriogal or Dalanoharys lol. 5) Time in the episodes, especially now that we are getting closer to the conclusion of the whole thing, isn't to be taken literally. I don't know if that's the case for you all, but I see lots of people getting frustrated at how people travel so fast. It's not that they are traveling at instaneous speeds. It just happens to be what we see as viewers. We could pick up a storyline at a moment after they had spent days or weeks in motion and then they'll appear at their destination or we see another character(s) storyline and it seems like little time passed.

    Why do you think Cercei is that smart?? really? she united the Tyrells with then snakes and Daenarys. she united the biggest army in westeros with Daenarys. That was not smart, she planned it corrently, and I beg to think it was all Qyburn, but she did not think about the consequences. The aftermath will result in her Death by Jaimie. Cercei is really stupid not considering the aftermath of all this.

    • @el80ne
      @el80ne 8 лет назад +3

      She shows a certain level of aptitude, certainly more than Sansa. But I don't think anyone's saying she's *that* smart, especially not one who allies with religious fanatics to take out her in laws who were posing no direct threat to her. She lacks the foresight of being able to comprehend the big picture, which explains why she's never even considered the threat of Danaerys.

    • @mavdj

      Cersei is the luckiest mary sue. Just when you think shes gonna get it, she's saved by the deus ex machina little birds who just happened to find the wildfire. And now by that incredible luck and her son jumping down the tower Reynholm Denholm style lol she's the fucking queen.

    • @el80ne
      @el80ne 8 лет назад

      mavdj Is it that much a stretch to believe the mad king had untapped stashes of wildfire that shouldn't be that hard to find given how he never even had a chance to use any of it? I don't consider it a great leap. I find Sansa being alive to be the far greater _deux ex machina_. Cersei at least has always been able to scheme and defend herself by whatever means necessary. Contrast that with Sansa who is just now learning how and yet still pulls mystery moves like not telling Jon she was awaiting word on Littlefinger committing the Knights of the Vale which could have gotten them all killed.

    • @mavdj
      @mavdj 8 лет назад

      Yea, but she didn't scheme anything. The little birds just happened to conveniently find it at that time. I can see why though. Dany needs someone interesting to fight and have a good spectacular battle. Tommen would not have been it lol!

    • @el80ne
      @el80ne 8 лет назад

      mavdj What do you mean she didn't scheme anything? The little birds had discovered the wildfire which she heard about in passing long before she decided she had a use for it. Spearheading the destruction of the Great Sept and all who were in it was an act of terrorism that was _schemed by her_. It didn't happen spontaneously.

    Everybody seems to be forgetting that Cersei was the one who aligned herself with High Sparrow for her own agenda in the first place. So I wasn't one bit happy to see her win. Feed the beast, use it against your rivals and when it turns against you, call it monster... (Wait, that sounds familiar...) That's just hypocritical... Also Cersei's children were important to her as long as she was in the vicinity of the throne. The minute Tommen cast her out, she erased him...

    • @karenholmes6565
      @karenholmes6565 8 лет назад

      If this was the real world we'd all think differently about it, but there is something very enjoyable about seeing an antihero get her vengeance against people who are mostly a bunch of BS. The entire city gleefully cheered as she was marched through the street and humiliated. Was there ever any question that there would be vengeance for that? Cersei didn't really win anything. All her kids are dead, and that used to be what mattered to her. Not only was her victory hollow, so were her eyes at the end. Yes, as much as I dislike Cersei (actually, I kinda like the Cersei of the TV show), I disliked the High Sparrow , his sexism, homophobia, and his willingness to sexually humiliate women, even less. He was a thoroughly despicable person. As much so or more so than Cersei Lannister.

    Lyanna Stark was not kidnapped by Rhaegar Targaryen. They were in love and secretly married in a time when it was permitted for Targaryens to have more than one wife. Robert Baratheon wrongfully assumed she had been kidnapped because Lyanna was promised to him. Lyanna and Rheagar fell in love on or before the tournament where he crowned her the queen of love and beauty by giving her the crown of blue roses instead of to his wife. If L and R had not been married, no way would the Kings Guard be left to guard the Tower of Joy. They were guarding a legal heir to the throne… Jon (not Snow) Targaryen.

    Cercei is very much intentionally dressed just like Tywin. She is ruthless and willing to use her own family to get what she wants, just like Tywin. I just love how they use costuming and such to signify how things have changed. Jon is wearing the same style armor that Ned wore. Margery and the people in King's Landing are all wearing high necked modest dresses due to the faith takeover. Gilly and Little Sam are dressed better. Olenna is dressed in black because she's morning. The Sand Snakes are dressed in a more sophisticated manner. Oh and The High Sparrow finally washed his damn robe... but I don't have a significance for this I was just happy I didn't have to look at it anymore lol.
    So the first time I watched the episode I missed something pretty significant, and I think you guys did too. Arya's creepy joyful smile is a Cercei Lannister smile. The scenes mirrored each other. Getting revenge, enjoying it... "the last think you see will be my face"
    Tyrion tears up because someone is finally seeing him as something other than a dwarf. His family had always treated him as something "less" for lack of better term. She recognizes how valuable he is to her. The look was gratefulness like he was with Oberyn Martell when he recognized the fact that he's just a baby or a human life like any other.

    • @TheSReaction
      @TheSReaction 8 лет назад +2

      Good points. I thought, at first, that she looked to be dressed like Joffrey, but thinking on it again, she's definitely dressed like Tywin. This episode was a nice little revenge episode, I enjoyed it...shamelessly and shamefully! Cersei may have been dressed like her father, but she still hasn't taken her father's words to heart when he told her she's not as smart as she thinks she is. She only thinks of the here and now, immediate gratification. And although it felt good to do what she did for her, she will suffer the humongous consequences of that action. That will have a large snowball effect and she's not the wiser for it. She doesn't think long-term, only of what she can do at that moment to make a short point. And Tyrion wasn't always recognized as more in his family (his father did understand that Tyrion was more than capable to be Joffrey's Hand while he was away, and appointed him as such) but the only ally he had in his family was Jamie. Jamie always treated Tyrion like his brother and loved him as such. I know we get Jamie's reaction and disdain for what Cersei has done and has become, but I'm waiting to see what Tyrion thinks of what has happened to his niece and nephew while he's been away, as he adored them both and they loved him. These last two seasons coming up should be amazing!

      Your points re Cersei's costume is well taken.But for me,intentionally or not ,Cersei looks like "Joan of Arc" now.About her actions-she had no other choice.What person with the power/options she had would face further humiliation and opt out of revenge?

    • @johnlibbywelling2806
      @johnlibbywelling2806 8 лет назад

      docsmithdc "What person with the power/options she had would face further humiliation and opt out of revenge?" My answer is, Jamie. He sacrificed his own honor and reputation which meant a lot to him to save people from the Mad King's wildfire. Now his sister/lover just did exactly what he'd prevented from happening before. She did so for selfish reasons and Even if she didn't want Tommen to die she knew Tommen loved Margery and Cercei recklessly disregarded that and was busy torturing a Septa while her son flung himself out of the Red Keep tower. When Jamie killed the Mad King, he chose love and Cercei chose revenge, power and hate.
      There is always another choice. She could have taken personal responsibility for her actions. They weren't going to kill her. Her life wasn't in danger, only her pride and her perceived power were at stake. Those things apparently meant more to her than her own son's happiness and his very life.

      I liked much of your comment, but I have to disagree with your prospective on Cersi's choice. Had Margaery not influenced Tommen to abolish trial by combat (as almost certainly is the case. It's highly doubtful that simple minded Tommen really researched the history behind it and actively wanted to condemn his mother to a certain guilt verdict), Cersi could have won and remained Queen Mother, properly chastized and living in the shadow of the royal couple. Margaery wasn't happy with that, though: she wanted revenge for Cersi turning the Faith on her and her brother and sought to eliminate Cersi from any possible influence over Tommen. Cersi choices were then to either face a public trial in which a guilt sentence was all but certain (which would have entailed exile, death, or perhaps most horribly, being forced to become a septa and serve the High Sparrow's whims for the rest of her days) or eliminating her enemies. She chose the latter. And when Tommen sided against her in favor of Margaery and the High Sparrow, Cersi may have resigned herself to the prophecy that all of her children were doomed to die before her and accepted his fate. Either way, as horrific as it was, Cersi's actions were quite reasonable given her situation.

    • @Charlotte_Martel
      @Charlotte_Martel 8 лет назад +3

      My bet is on Dany as the "more beautiful queen" in Cersi's prophecy. Margaery was very pretty, but Dany was the queen whose beauty sent men to seek her from all over the known world. What Cersi holds most dear is power and family, and when Dany returns to Westeros with her massive army, she'll definitely be able to seize power from Cersi who rules only by fear. Add in the rest of the prophecy (being killed by her younger brother), and one sees that most likely Jaime will be her murderer (especially if she threatens any more acts of mass killing) and will most likely kill himself in grief after her death. Everyone in her family she has ever loved will be dead then.

    I can't imagine Sansa being to thrilled with Dany when she finallt lands in Westeros or wanting to ally with her. Keep in mind, Dany's father is the man who tortured and butchered her grandfather and uncle, Dany's brother is the man who (as far a anyone knows) kidnapped and raped her aunt Lyanna. The Satrks are the ones who spearheaded the war to remove the Targaryens from power, and they were completely justified. Dany has expressed in the past that she wants revenge on both the Lannisters and the Starks and I think the Starks might still be in th mood for revenge against the Targaryens. I don't think that they are the natural allies everyone else seems to think.

      But that wasn't the sole cause of the rebellion, it was just a culmination of centuries of insult and abuse suffered by the lords and ladies of the realm from the Targaryens. The Starks know better than anyone the great risk that is taken on when the Targaryens are in power. It is said that when a Targaryen is born the gods flip a coin to see determine whether or not it will be crazy. The Starks suffered the most because of the reign of the Targaryens and I don't think any Stark would be eager to be under them again.

    I think you guys are skirting around and not quite getting at the nugget of the plot. GoT makes us sympathize with "villians" and "heroes" both so we rejoice at their moments of revenge. The point is to examine the nature of revenge. When it comes to Sansa. Ahem. Sansa has never been that good. She was innocent in the sense of ignorant of the ways of the world, but she started out as a shallow bitch. All she wanted was to be queen. Remember that she betrayed Arya in Season 1 when she refused to testify what happened at the murder of the butcher boy. Why didn't she tell Jon about the army of the Vale? It wasn't because she was dumb. Could they have saved Rickon with a bigger army? Maybe. Whether she really thought Rickon was a lost cause or just wanted him out of the way due to his claim to succession, I don't know. But she withheld the information for a purpose. We just don't know what that purpose is, yet. Whatever her plan is, it is obvious now Sansa is a player. She arranges for the gruesome death of the horrible Ramsey and as it is happening she starts to look away... then she changes her mind. She revels in it. I don't think she is pregnant; I think Ramsey is right - his viciousness is part of her now. That's born out by the little satisfied smile. And that is the lesson we are meant to take away. Not just that revenge is sweet, because of course it is, but that violence is a disease and it can't be cured with more violence.

  • @diabl2master
    @diabl2master 8 лет назад +1

    Huh, the way I perceived Sansa's reaction to Jon's support was that she was happy for him and supported him also; she has never expressed any desire to be Queen or hold great power. But she looks at Baelish and remembers what he'd told her and maybe a little part of her is starting to want that power.

    Ned didn't kill the women. One of them is a woman named Wylla, who must have been the wet nurse who kept Jon alive to return to Starfall, and then Winterfell. Jon was milk brothers with Edric Dayne, who is about four years younger than Jon, so she survived for a time.
    Wylla was loyal to House Dayne, with Ser Arthur Dayne being Rhaegar's best friend right to his death. Ned returned Ser Dayne's sword "Dawn" to Starfall, and likely returned the midwife, as well.
    Also: Anyone talking about what happened at the ToJ was treasonous in Robert Baratheon's eyes, and would have been put to death, so there is more than loyalty for them to consider.

  • @MrSh1zzle
    @MrSh1zzle 8 лет назад +2

    Varys being on the boat with dany was not a glitch, if you look closely in that scene you can see ships with banners from dorne and tyrell, they basically picked up varys there, dorne and tyrell ships joined in and now she's technically already in westeros. they just left that part out, no need for more talking, it was pretty obvious that dorne and tyrell were gonna join dany.

    I see a lot of people complain about Ana not knowing about Jon's lineage. You have to realize that for the people who have _only_ watched the show on TV, didn't read the books and don't hang around on Reddit and YT for fan theories, which is probably the majority of the viewers, this was not obvious at all. I can guarantee you that *a lot* of people who enjoy this show had the exact same question as Ana, and now they got it answered.
    Do you think the average GoT viewer has even heard about "Azor Ahai" for instance? Of course not, we are a tiny minority, and if we want more people to get into it, we must tolerate that someone asks some "stupid" questions now and then.
    Yes, if no one on the panel knew, and Ana's question remained unresolved, _that_ would be a problem. But as long as there are people there who know, like Jon, then having some basic questions answered just makes the show better.
    Don't be an elitist jerk. There are plenty of review channels for hardcore nerds out there, like *Alt Shift X*, just go there instead of spewing bullshit on other channels just because they also respect people who know less than you.

    awesome review, as usual! the "varys transportation" you complain about also bothered me at first, but then I realised that it's not that he went all the way down to Mereen again, but that they pick him up in Dorne as if you look at the ship's banners you can see Martell's, Greyjoy's and Targaryan's, so they're already in Westeros.
    Another thing I loved is when Arya kills Walder Frey, and specially the way she does it. In the episode of the red wedding, there's Bran, Jojen and Meera staying for the night in a Night's Watch fortress, and Bran tells them a story about the castle being haunted by a ghost rat that was once the lord of the castle and cooked the king's sons and fed them to him, breaking the rules of the bread and salt or something like that, so the gods punished him. Arya did just the same to Walder Frey as a punishment for breaking those same rules killing her family when he had offered them the bread and the salt. This show is just brilliant

    Irritated at the absence of both Ben *and* Matt. I'm glad that we have a female viewpoint, though I honestly have never respected Anna's in relation to the show (please note that I am aware I am not the god of all, just stating my opinion). Most of the time all she does is say, "Yay Dany!" or flinch when some random act of brutality crosses the screen. Is she _really_ the only woman at TYT that watches this show or read the books? Meh, disappointing but haven't watched this vid, maybe she'll surprise me.
    EDIT: And she does, she's got some value in this even if it's not much. Still ... Needs to actually pay some attention here and there. Get the feeling she watches some really stupid shit based on her observational skills.

      Kim Horcher and Gina Grad both did at least one review of the 40 GOT reviews TYT has done. I don't think Ana is there to provide a female perspective, I think she is there because she loves the show and so she has invited herself to do the reviews when she can. And because she's such a bigwig at TYT, and they are all friends, and Ben and Matt evidently weren't there, no one is going to tell her that she can't give her opinions. She is awful at this (and BTW so is Cenk), but I don't think that her gender factored into anything that happened here.

      Steve G I didn't mean that Anna was there via a sort of "Affirmative Action," more that I was glad to _get_ a female perspective on the show, I just wished to gawd it wasn't Anna. HOWEVER she did do better this time around I feel than previous times, so I need to edit my OP to reflect that. I would indeed prefer to have Kim Horcher or Sam Schacher (sp?) jump on for an episode or 2 recap, even if only as a trial. Can't fully agree with Cenk being terrible at this because unlike Anna, he gets a bit of synergy counterweight when Ben's there, as Ben seems to be the one guy he respects and will accept a verbal smackdown from. Jon and even Matt just don't seem to offer that same ability to rebuff him and make him reflect on his ideas.

      Cenk is strong-willed, but he usually does listen to other opinions on his panel shows. The problem here is that he tends to fundamentally misunderstand storytelling conventions, or he believes that because it's Game of Fucking Thrones!!!!!!!, anything can happen to anyone at any time, and so he feels that Sam Tarly or Sansa or Tyrion can get killed at any time, and that literally anyone can rise to power. Gilly can rise to power in his mind because "THAT'S THE GAME OF THRONES!!" As a result, he gets surprised by the simplest things.

      He's a hypocritical, power hungry, religious extremist that thinks he's above everyone else?? Brainwashing a little kid and basically taking control of a city via military coup.

      +rdizzy1 well I have seen the power hungry (but didn't see anything negative about it), I have seen the religious extremism part (really bad guy, though even have hating Loras had a political move behind it), but again, the power lead to stopping the monarchy, the way he achieved that power was hypocritical to his religious beliefs, but I didn't see any negative or bad thing he did the last 2 seasons. Every one he went after were people of power and were really bad people.

      WittyTech He was trying to push his values on everyone else. Trying to tell everybody how to live. Even if the only person your doing harm to is just yourself. Sure they were a torn in the monarchy's side. They were a cult that was going to police people's sex lives, torture those who didn't pratice there religion, use the poor as pawns in their political games

      Ummmm.... he's a hypocrite extremist lunatic who holds only his enemies accountable for standards he doesn't give a fuck about! The entire group of religious assholes were getting hard ons for torture, not for justice!

    Really late commenting, I know. But as to Varys teleportation - if you look at the fleet, there are Targaryen ships, Iron Born ships, and Dornish and Highgarden ships. My assumption is that Highgarden came down to join with Dorn, and they both joined with Dany as she came along. She has to pass by Dorn to reach the Iron Islands or Kings Landing. It's not actually teleportation, but a huge time gap they chose not to bore us with so they could keep the momentum going. Think how much time it would take to re-outfit the ships she'd taken with golden dragon heads and sails painted with the three headed Targaryen dragon, as well as gather and load provisions for the army she's amassed - and get the Dothraki hoarde's horses loaded and provisioned as well.

    This episode was sheer spectacle. Very little of the story made any sense. Most namely, the event at the Twins with Arya. So many plot holes and nonsensical things about this 10th episode. The more this show goes on, the more it loses the depth of character and story. Things just happen out of nowhere or things happen with half-assed explanations.

      A lot of people had predicted many of the things that happened in this episode. So it didn't really come out of nowhere. If you don't believe it go read the prediction thread on reddit.

      I don't think he necessarily meant that things in this episode happened out of nowhere. He is talking about the general quality of the show.
      And besides, the fact that people predicted something doesn't mean it didn't come out of nowhere. There are a lot of crazy theories out there that have absolutely no foundation or foreshadowing. If some of them end up being true, that doesn't necessarily mean they make sense.
      Many people predicted Arya would kill Walder, and yet it definitely came out of nowhere and made no sense in terms of how Arya snuck into the castle, killed two of Walder's grown sons, chopped them up, baked them into a pie without anyone in the kitchens objecting, and then murdered Walder in his conveniently empty hall (no guards, no servants, no family members), and somehow escaped without being seen, caught, or pursued.
      They made it seem so ridiculously easy, they might as well have Arya pop up in Cersei's bed chambers in the season 7 premiere and kill her by posing as a handmaiden or something.
