2023 Catalina Island Ultra Marathon - Avalon 50 Mile Benefit Run - Jan 7 '23

Finally got to edit my first Ultra Marathon on Catalina Island in California just outside of LA.
With a 4 am start, about 6000 feet elevation gain, 50 Miles / 80 kilometer of distance and a climate rather different to snowy Colorado, this was not an easy one. But knowing Catalina Island from 10 years of Catalina Island Marathons, I got to enjoy the island for a bit longer this time and during a different time of the year.
Though the enjoyment rather abruptly turned to misery around km 55.
During the last 25 km and for days after, I swore to never ever run an Ultra Marathon ever again.
