Congratulations on acquiring this page! Every panel is a work of fine art. I love the slim panel of Matt asking, "But why?" We've seen that look from Matt many times over the years. Great, you also get Natasha in a panel on that page as well. So classic and nostalgic and so much fun to own a piece of comic book history. Thanks for going over the panels and comparing your page to the printed page. I think the original looks so much better!

What a CLASSIC 7 Panel Banger! Colan DD is truly a Fantastic Grab Karen. I DO remember you eyeballing that on the preview Vid. Colan's true trait was EXCELLING at storytelling, action or dialogue. Chan's inks defined Gene's lush pencils well. I agree with the colors...esp losing the 6th panels foliage. CONGRATS! ,,,and hey, anyone can draw...

Hey Karen! Congratulations on this latest acquisition! I get the desire to have the main hero in costume on the page, but unlike most collectors, I love that you appreciate the storytelling and imagery on pages without the hero in costume enough to still buy them! You're definitely in the minority on that front. The sequential storytelling in the first five panels demonstrates such beautiful camera movement by Colan, like a great film director doing his thing. The cut to the outside of the building and pointing the camera to the brightly lit interior is so gorgeous, as juxtaposed with the sheer blacks of the building's facade. The shrubbery adds to the fine attention to detail that is present in ever other panel as well. That Natasha money shot to end the page is pretty amazing, too. The attention to detail, such as all the acoutrements on the ceiling and hanging on walls reminds me of Leonard Starr's work on Mary Perkins, On Stage (my favourite newspaper strip). It's that attention to detail that really gives the make believe world a three dimensional solidity and brings the art to life. Oh, this time I saw "That's what she said." coming from a mile away! Funny outtakes, as always. Nice musical accompaniment and smooth editing as usual. All in all, another great job! 👍 🤓

It seems like you're a huge Daredevil fan as I am. Speaking on the late Ernie Chan, RIP. I remember years ago friending Mr. Chan on Facebook, we used to message back and forth I would praise him on his early work on Conan the Barbarian, then later his work on the Incredible Hulk, up until he passed on. A true gentleman in every sense of the word.

My feeling is that Gene Colan is one of those artists that tends to be put in a tier below Buscema and Romita Sr., but I think his work is every bit as good, if not better at times. Such great storytelling and different view perspectives. And what a great panel with Natasha! You had quite the auction success!

Ha! You did get that page! It is absolutely beautiful, that’s for sure! The detail and storytelling with the panels, wow. Congratulations!! Don’t stop there though, if you want to get another Gene Colan page with DD in costume, wait for one inked by Tom Palmer. Same era, when DD was with the Widow in San Francisco. Hey, and don’t knock the coloring on the published version, after all it was the early 70’s!

Thank you so much! A Colan/Palmer page is an excellent suggestion and one that I always look out for. I also like Syd Shores' inks on Colan's pencils. You communicated in part I that prior to a certain point in your collection carrier you weren't interested in panel pages. I'm so thrilled that you've changed your perspective on panel art. There is something so much more satisfying about a page of superior sequential storytelling. Congratulations on an epic addition to the collection. Love the last two panels, the slightly skewed panel shot and then that last panel..... The way her dress folds and drapes on her body and the details of the couch and rendering of different materials. Fabulous pick up
