How do you increase your mic volume without increasing gain? For my mic I only see one "microphone" option in the Levels tab but, if I increase that slider too much, it gets staticy, loses bassness, quality goes down. However if I bring that slider down, the quality is better, the bass is there, but the I sound too low. So how can I maintain that good sound quality while also increasing the mic volume?

Depends on if you’re using an XLR mic or not. Or a dynamic mic or condenser mic. Bc let’s say you’re using the industry standard shure SM7B, that means you need an audio interface that plugs into your pc. So what youd do is in your windows input volume settings set the level to about 40-50, no greater than that. Then on your audio interface, turn your gain nob higher until you reach a decent level that isn’t clipping and gives you decent volume headroom

I had already done what you suggested. My mic level is set to 100 and it still doesn't sound loud enough. I use Deity or Rode mics, so quality mics, but audio is so low that I almost need to touch the mic with my lips to get decent audio

@@Hmmmm521 Not true; or at least not completely. Windows and Realtek drivers suck ass, so even if your microphone is decent then it can still be too quiet. Microphones that come with their own drivers may be immune to this problem, but for every other microphone it can be an issue. I wrote a tutorial on how I managed to get my $5 analog mic working pretty well in Windows if anybody cares. Search for "Tutorial: How to fix low microphone volume in Windows 10 (and NOT just by using Windows microphone boost or reinstalling drivers)" (with quotes) on google and you should be able to see my Reddit post.
