I have the vanilla collectors edition. So when the game first released my friend went to Future Shop and picked up 2 copies of the game. He got the night elf box for himself and he got me the orc box. So I installed it off my 4 discs and and typed in my cd key. When we started playing I asked around as to what the present in my inventory was. Turns out, even though I ended up with a regular edition box I still ended up with a collectors edition key by some freak chance =D

A little strange one here but there is a quest which a few players on the EU have because of a GM who linked it as a troll and due to it being shareable, a few people have it. It's called 'Trouble in Podunk' and was originally planned on being released in Twilight Highlands but never entered the game, it wasn't even featured in Beta, PTR or Live so it's very strange as to why it's in game. It comes under the category of 'Missing header! (quest designers).
There is also another very strange quest along the same lines called Test Quest - Craig which isn't actually in-game but a few players for some reason on EU have it. It comes under the category 'Designer Island'.
I have the Zergling ! I think it might be one of the lowest polygon model still in the game these days.
I liked the panda cub on my hunter, it fit really well. Had the diablo on my other characters. On my rogue (at launch) I deleted it for bag space on the first day..

I mean, they've said it's okay to buy the physical card that has a code on it for the TCG. Just not for the code itself. You have to buy the physical card with it.
So logically speaking, I would assume it'd be within the ToS to buy the Blizzard Bear Blizzcon card, since you're buying somethiing physical.
I think you are correct - as long as it's the card it should be OK since it's real currency for a physical item. If you buy the code directly however, I believe that's against ToS
I just came back from a 6 month WoW break (which was fantastic by the way).
You actually still can farm for Chan's Imperial Robes. I have 3 in my inventory. What you have to do is go to Blasted Lands and kill the rares out there. I think they drop a chest or something that you open up. The robes are in the loot table for what the rares there drop.
Edit: The rare mobs actually drop an item called Flawless Draenethyst Sphere which you turn in to get Emerald Encrusted Chest which is the chest that actually can have the robes inside.
Proud to say I own a Swift Razzashi Raptor and I got it on the last night before Cata was released. :-)
Love these videos! :) I was in Kara recently and the Ruby Slippers dropped. I noticed the use is a hearthstone. While casting the text on the bar reads, "There is no place like home". And it got me thinking... How many other unusual hearthstones are in the game? Might be a neat video :D
Just look on WoWhead which items share a cooldown with the Hearthstone. It's not enough for a whole video, but still a cool thing to look at!

I own the Plague Protodrake from the achievement and the Dartol's rod of transformation from this list. (Among many other rare and unobtainable items ☺ ).
Just as an extra note: Dartol's rod didn't have CD at all. The CD was added mid-cata if i recall correctly.
A favorite of mine is the Tabard of the Protector, a reward for a quest could do in the days right before the opening of the Dark Portal. It looks exactly like the Argent Dawn's one, but it has a nice use effect (like a priest's holy nova)
As a suggestion for your next video, I recommend The Arcanite Ripper. It was a drop off a special boss that spawned for two weeks back in Ye Olde Days. It was in a raid, so guilds only had two of them to give out. Being an axe, the classes that could use it for stats usefully were low. BUT it also had a use effect, ‘belt a ripper’ where you turn in a skeleton playing the ‘axe’ as a guitar. It does sometimes come up on the BMAH. I mentioned the usage because this item caused a rift in my guild between the hunters (ie, me) and the warriors on who could roll on it. It was technically best in slot for both, but our guild technically had a rule that melee weapons were prioritised to melee classes. But, as an item that would be a unique flavour item for years after the stats were passed, and me being a collector of trinkets, argument ensued. Eventually, we decided on the flavour POV, and later it became moot as both I and the warrior arguing rolled for the two. ;)
The Murloc Marine pet given away at the one and only BlizzCon I ever attended interacts with the Zergling pet from the original Collector's Edition. Or at least it used to.
LINKEN'S BOOMERANG!! At one time it was the only way that a ret pally, what was that in vanilla, could range pull. That quest line was quite the ride.

I have the Swift zulian tiger got to go back in BC when we decided to do a raid of zg. To this day it is still one of my favorite mounts

A Fun fact with the Zergling Pet, it has interaction with the Murky marine pet that was given for blizzcon a while back. when they are next to each other Murky will gun down the Zergling. its a rare sight now days I guess since both those pets are very rare.
Chan's imperial robes can also be obtained from the emerald encrusted chests that you get from trading in the flawless draenethyst spheres which can drop from Mobs in the blasted lands and more commonly, the rare spawns.

I had the reins of the nightsaber back in the day... i remember being so happy when I got it even though at the time it wasn't much.
Small addition to the Furbolg Rod - as it was a quest item, many people who were power-levelling (and not paying attention to quests) just did the quest quickly and upon completion, lost the rod. So if you completed the quest, you could never have the rod as a fun toy. The more savvy ones started the quest, then abandoned it but kept the rod. The first major nerf came when they changed how quest items work, when quest items were destroyed upon abandoning a quest. Which meant you could keep the rod but you'd have to keep the quest in your quest log forever. And then of course they nerfed it further by making quest items zone-bound.
I got the Imperial Robes from going to the NPC in northern Blasted Lands, reverting to old Blasted Lands (i.e. pre-WoD), and flew around killing the rares, they dropped greens/blues and also a quest item that can be handed in for a chest that would give you another green/blue, the blue quest item gave better rewards usually, and this is where I got the robes from.
Back in wotlk when the old ZG mounts were still obtainable, one of my lvl 60 twink m8's had 5 of the tigers and a few of the raptors since he used to ZG boosts between his accounts etc...
I actually solo tamed a Zulian tiger on my old Orc Huntard Shokie, before they changed the vanilla hunter pet skills, Had the fastest attack speed of all the tamed pets at the time something like 1.0 seconds.
It was REALLY hard.
You had to enter and jump to the left into the water avoid the crocodiles and piranha and get out on the centre island, run past more crocks to the bridge, (semi safe place, crocks didnt go on the bridge), then you had to sneak on to the end of the upper path to the left and try and trap pull one with out the rest of its pack. took bloody hours, everything was a one hit kill on me, but it got me a place on Evil deads old MC 40 team, when I came over from Nepthilia.

I feel bad for you. Got the tiger to drop twice during wotlk and the raptor once. Don't ask me why I kept farming the tiger on my alt after I got it on my main. This was before mount sharing account wide so I thought it would be neat to have it on my PvP toon aswell.
i dislike you sell me that alt of yours so i can have the mount i farmed since vanilla and never got =/ i still remember getting the raptor and i have never been so sad that i didnt get something ever

Inmunity for 10 seconds that's it....
Baan just bubble. also there used to be a craftable potion to be immune to all melee so anti magic shell and pop one on a private server haha for similar effect. I spam them on my vanilla pally healer in PvP usually right when melee use CD and open or charge at me and it really makes them mad and if I use bubble in case they try and come back or range me I'm basically God mode for 10+ seconds and can top off entire team
I still have my light of Elune. One day I'll use it... and my bag of marbles.
The furbolg transformation was useful as a priest in PvP because any classes with spell locks/spell cancelling abilities would think you're casting a heal when using it thus wasting their cooldown. Really scummy but neat trick I used to use.
Also another rare underrated item was the turtle you got from the TCG. I had that on my level 19 twink because it so cool that a non-40 had a mount (it provided no speed bonus though). I spent too much money on Ebay buying that code
I'd of thought the Diabloe: Tyreal pet would of been more rare then then the original WoW collectors edition pets. Hardly anyone got those due to is being a GamesCon exclusive.

I'm the very proud owner of the Swift Zulian Tiger! Obtained it when it was still a drop from Zul'Gurub! It's still the first mount I put up when I need to go somewhere. Love it! (I'm a Horde btw)

I remember a very long quest chain that rewarded an ilvl 35 robes or 2h sword that I'd use in my lvl 19 twinks.... Southshore was the place to get the quest, and it was difficult to get the items before turning lvl 20 lol. I still have the sword and robes.
Arcanite ripper and vampiric battling from kara. No longer available. Loved the pally mount quest

I found a strange item in my rogue's bank called the Draco-Incarcinatrix 900... It appears to have been a quest item in the original Burning Steppes. I'm not sure if you just kept it after you turned in the quest or if I have it because the quest got auto-abandoned once Cataclysm hit and the item just stayed. You can use it on any enemy and it leaves them with purple clouds in their trail. Pretty neat! It's also not soulbound or a "quest item" so it's tradeable too (not that I would trade it)!

I remember having the Zandalari Raptor on my human rogue back in vanilla. It dropped, I wasn't sure what it was (I was 16 and not very aware at the time) and the raid leader rolled /20 and for whatever reason it went to me. Standing in Stormwind with that raptor and the Bloodfang hood, I would get whispers all day.
It's seriously fascinating how differently items are viewed now.
I got poseidus mount while leveling my first character. Hanging on to it since then (like 3 years in my bank :))

I still have an unused Big Blizzard Bear card from Blizzcon. I had an used Murloc Costume suit as well but unfortunately used it on a second account a few years ago.

I still have my Dartol's Rod! It's always fun to use in raids.
You can also get Chan's imperial robes from the quest items that drop off of blasted lands rares, the draenic crystals. Thats how i got mine.
i started playing in patch 1.6.1 missed those mounts. But i did get both ZG mounts =D
I spend 4 years farming my ZG tiger each week before i finaly get it ! It was worth it before Blizz remove it from the game, worth even more today !

I actually had the Razzashi Raptor back then... I quit when cataclysm was like half through and came back half a year ago.. Soooo many things missing in my collection. Also many transmogs from items from quests that were removed with cata.
I've got thing from 3:05 in my bank lol I think you were able to complete the quest with that item as long as you had it in your bank and it didn't get removed after that.
Also my brother got the tiger, it casually dropped and he rolled the highest for it. Lucky bastard.

I bought the 30 yr anniversary pack which came with a whole bunch of goodies. A Mount & pet for WOW, and cosmetic stuff in the other games that Blizzard has. I like the mount. It's a frozen bear with saddlebags with snowballs in them. When I ride it will drop a snowball from time to time and people can pick them up and throw them at other players. I have yet to see anyone else with the mount or the pet.
i have a mole machine from idk what event. Its still in my bag and never got converted into a toy. I dont never seen anyone pupping it up anywhere. It use to take you back to BRD bar where you could see the wow punk band playing. Now i believe it only take you to the entrance.
I remember when i put it down over the winthergrasp stone 2 sec before it appear. Lotsa ppl got mad over this :)
about the furlbog you accttuly get the rod and being told to go up hill and accept a quest from a stone.. Don't! you will be stuck with -1 qst spot for rest of your life.
Or remove the quest and run back to Ashenvale and get it back.
Also it is one of the very few (maybe only) items that you can cast while moving. so you can cast it in IF and time it around a corner when a friend is behind you and stand there to shock them x'D
A funny thing is that there are items that will animate fire on you so you can make a macro running around saying that furr should be banned in IF, or ban the forge. (instant outrage from dwarfs at that point x'D)
I actually got the Diablo pet during the launch of Cataclysm. My account was hacked by a gold seller and when BLizzard got my account back, with most of my characters deleted barring my main, they sent me an ingame mail with the pet as a sort of apology I guess? I didn't know how rare of a pet it was until years later.
I got the Swift Razzashi raptor by proving to a shaman that i could solo the entirety of ZG with my DK. I even offered it to the guy but he insisted that i rolled too. Most amazing Shammy i ever encountered
Damn, I was just wandering around Vashir when I was questing, and saw this cool sliver mob. So I decided to go kill it... little did I know that this was one of the more rarer mounts in the game!
I finally got my tiger 2 days before old ZG closed for good. And because it was only 2 days before, I couldn't get my last chance to try for the raptor since the old raid had a 3 day cd.

I have only ever seen one person in the game with the mini Diablo on illidian server
and my RL friend who no longer plays has both the black and plagued proto drake, he used to show them off whenever someone tried to act elitist on him. which is pretty funny

ahhh i c. I know it goes for around 50k on my server and it's a high pop. So I knew it was rare. Good to know where it actually comes from.

Mini Tyrael has to be the rarest item. Only obtainable from the world wide invitational in Paris back in 2008. I've only ever met one other person with it and that's the guy I went with

im satisfied knowing i have both of the old ZG mounts, aswell as a spare raport in my bank :) while the tiger is the only ground mount i have used sins 2007 i love the fact that i got 2 of the raport for no other reason than to say "i got a spare zg raptor, no you cant have it because blizz wont let me sell it

Used to have the Zulian Tiger... thing is: I farmed it on an account I was gifted by a friend. I never imagined before that I'd have my own WoW account. (I was young) I later quit the game, and he combined that account with his.
Its still the one thing I really, really want in WoW. But the 1500 bucks its "sold" for by shady sites or the 9.999.999 gold it sells for on the BMAH is out of my reach.
I have no idea how I got one of those vanilla collector's edition pets. I started playing in June of 2006 and sometime on my journey to 60 I logged in one day to a mail thanking me for buying the collector's edition. Which I never did. Oh well, all these years later I still run around with Mini Diablo out.
I actually got all the 3 Vanilla Collector pets, never seen anyone else with them however.

there is a zg mount, but its not the same, old one was a orange and black tiger, new one is a panther i believe
The Swift Zulian Tiger was replaced with the Swift Zulian Panther and the raptor is the same I believe, but is Armored rather than Swift
