I've been playing since vanilla, so I wonder just how much amazingly rare stuff I destroyed without realizing. Back when bag space was tight and things were bound to character not account...

Not very expensive. I remember getting rid of mine as well, which always bugged me. Ended up buying one a little while ago for 170k gold.
This video reminded me I vendored the chromatic sword back in the day cause I needed bag space asap...also, those bank cleaning days after the launch of each new expansion. Hmmm, I think it's better not to dwell about it. We play for fun, who cares that we basically lost millions of current gold due to stupid decisions from the past?! lol
Answering a common question I get about the game. I go out of the realm of vendor bought items or else this video would just be "The mad merchant" which I think is too boring. It actually shared quite a few items from my rare items videos, but ah well. It answers the question at least. Hope you find it interesting/entertaining and let me know if you have any items I missed!

go fishing! no joke.... caught 100 salmon in highmountain this morning in 20 minutes (artifact rod helps a ton) 10-25g per salmon depending on time of day can be a very good yeild for such a short time frame. do this daily and you will be swimming in gold in no time.

Spent $9,500 on an account and then got banned... oooooh man, LOL.
How come? I spent something around 2000$ and Blizzard still hasn't banned my account, when support was contacting to me in the game and I was botting with HonorBuddy which answered to the support with the template messages...

I got Gurky (Pink Murloc) and its even more rare than Murky because it was only obtainable from a EU Only Fansite Contest and it was like 10 Codes per Fansite. In my time since 2005 I only saw one other person with that Pet.
I got that, too. But I won a whole 4 pieces. Gave 2 to friends and sold one for 50€. Fuck. At least it's account bound, so maybe I can sell that

I have Gurky too, I bumped into someone else with one whilst questing a few months ago which was the first time I've seen another in game since I won my code. They hadn't seen another one in game before either :)

The most expensive item should be the Tyrael pet from the france exclusive blizz event only "3000" were ever made. Last time I saw one on ebay it was $6000 and that was 5 years ago.

You missed something very similar to Murky. Mini Tyrael Pet. I bought mine 4 years ago for 1,000$ and now it is selling for over 10k+ dollars IF you're lucky to even find 1.
on the ah it went for 24 mill gold lol some dude bought 1 n had to give 9 mill gold each off diff toons lol

The Formal Dangui is pretty rare, and it's a white item. It's sold by a vendor in the Moonglade under a really baffling timer.

Back in WOTLK I really wanted that Zul'Gurub tiger for my main (druid). I went there every week for like almost a year. At some point I got so annoyed for not-getting-it so I started to go there with all of my twinks that where able to kill that boss. Every week.
Now... I ended up getting it on my main before it got patched... But still except one twink all of them got it BEFORE the main. I now have a priest, a pally and a druid with that tiger. Sadly, never ever dropped the Raptor with any of them :(

Back in Wrath I got the Blue Proto Drake from Skadi on my 3rd alt. I was so upset because it wasn't on my main and mounts were not account bound back then. The good ole days lol.

@MadSeasonShow - What you didn't mention about the thistle tea recipe is that it no longer actually learnable if you get the non soulbound version. This was changed in the WoD prepatch, I believe. It is now solely a collectors item.

Carson, if your character was level 20 or below, you can check your character and bank for free.
Missed the zul gurub raptor as both mounts go to cap on bmah .also plague and black proto fetch a lot . Pets wise tyrells hilt .all tgc pets .all so missing spider web and magesmith robes to name a few plus pendulum of doom .hope thease help x

Trading my spectral mount card in for $300 credit at the card shop seems small potatoes when the thing went on to sell for over a grand, but it sure made my day at the time.
Also got the rocket chicken pet, and it scared the raid on more than one occasion when it would blow itself up. :D

i would say this video should have made some honorable mentions,for example zone drops from naxx 40(like "Necro-Knights Garb" or "Misplaced Servo Arm")perhaps primarily focusing on items that were ingame,and not part of any promotional things.

I had 5 Chromatic Swords, the Thistle Tea recipe. It's a shame, I had some of the rarest items in-game including the Pendulum of Doom and a half dozen Formal Dangui's. I also had hundreds of the Frozen Runes stored. I owned nearly every TCG item available and had several dozen TCG mounts(including several of the roosters and several of each spectral tiger)...I also had the blizz bear, along with 40 million gold give or take. Got banned for RMT back in MOP.

I remembee the secret chicken pet in vanilla in westfall where you had to spam /flap a bunch of times, buy chicken feed and give it to the chicken. It was multifaction and i got it on my horde toon i believe back in tbc. Easiest freebie pet but you had to know that hidden quest. As an alliance main rogue having pets out was a giveaway to ur location so i never had pets out as i woulda as a non stealth class.

You forgot a major one that's also pretty expensive beating that of the Swift Spectral Tiger. The Tyreals Hilt Pet from the 2008 Blizzard Invitational current listings have it around 1300 - 1500usd

I was told once that Teebu's Flaming Longsword was the most expensive and rare item, and that it only had a very small chance of dropping from the mobs that spawned during the AQ opening even on the server, it made a great story, but sadly, i looked it up, seems like just any old world drop, am i right?
Since were talking about expensive back in tbc one of my guild mates paid another to grind out the Insane title for a new $1900 computer. It took him somewhere around 1-2 months but he got it done and the PC was sent.

I bought Swift spectral in MoP for 150K gold, then during WoD they were all bought out on multiple servers by god knows who, and the price was instantly raised to insane prices.
What price does the plagued proto normally go for on BMAH?
Back when I played and raided in vanilla, I think it was around the time when Zulgurub was added or was right about to be added, we had a random warrior in full Warlord gear join our guild. He was terrible and had seemingly never played warrior (barely wow) before, but our guild leaders were just mesmerized by the gear and damage potential so they tried to get him to learn the game and raid anyway. Think he ended up being banned as well, it was clear to everyone that it was a bought account and I know many warriors whos raidning spot he took that tried to reporting him ^^

I have the bear and murky from back in the day. Same for the TCG card items. Swift zulian tiger I was super lucky to roll highest in ZG so didn't cost a dime. My hunter also has thistle tea recipe since I was a fanatical cook, even grinded Dirge's Chops. And I have 2 chromatic swords somewhere. That hunter even still has her light of elune since that's an item you just never wanted to use as an elf.
That's all assuming my account never got hacked and deleted by blizz. I haven't played since cata.

Think my rarest item would be my scroll res celestial mount. Good video. I miss the good ol days on wow legion was the last of it for me.
I could have bought the bear for 300k before TCG was gone, tokens and gold income skyrocketted. To this day I always regret it, but it was a lot of gold back then. But I managed to buy most of the TCG 10mill+ mounts for 100-200k.
Lool i just realized i got that chromatic sword 2 yeara ago. I sold it on AH for ~6500gold! But, it was on a private server, not the official so it makes me feel a little bit better
I got the Chromatic Sword by farming it... Never would had thought it would be such a big deal later on xD
I had all 17 TCG mounts on my EU account which i sold at the end of 2016 after quitting. Got some rare mounts through Black Market as well, before Legion the gold cap was 999,999 so you just needed like 960k gold to buy-out something there. I had almost account-level gold cap, to the point I couldn't hold any more gold on my 11 characters I had.
tallstriders use the first along with raptors to use skeleton and animation, hawkstrider just copy the latter

I have the Rocket Chicken pet from the TCG. My buddy opened it back when we played the TCG back then and gave it to me. I use it everyday because it is such a rare pet. :)
So I don't know but I used to collect alot of cards and got the picknick, flaming steps, spectral tiger, magical rooster, tabard of the flame (red&gold), dragon kite, the goblin weather machine and the epic purple shirt this things still worth something nowadays or not due to WoW going downhill?
