Thank you! I was able to get the small bulb out without taking the light off the car....mind you I decapitated the small bulb doing it showering the inside of my trunk with tiny glass pieces🤣. Now I'll go find my 10mil socket and do the job correctly. This was very helpful.
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for your kind words! Those bulbs do get brittle over time and stuck there, so when taking them off, I have seen them often just shatter :(
Thank God for people like this all over the planet to make quality videos explaining how to fix things and ease our burden from being completely gouged by greedy companies and businesses . 🙏
The dealership wanted to charge me $424.00 plus $100.00 labor to replace both tail lights. Thank you for this video as I was able to buy both tail lights online for $176.00 and labor, thanks to your video, was never a consideration. Thank you!
Thank you for this. Really makes you wonder what on earth Hyundai was thinking to place a bulb in a location that requires the complete removal of the tail light. Simple, but irritating!
Serviceability is usually the lowest priority when designing cars. Because serviceability is not usually factored by customers when they make the buying decision, so why worry about it and spend more development money and make life harder. That's the thinking. Either way, I am glad to hear that you found the video helpful and were able to replace your bulb yourself. 🙂
Great explanation, very easy step-by-step tutorial. Helped me to change mine. Only issue I ran into was that your description says that Replacement bulb is a 2357.
@@VirarAutomotive no worries! When replacing, I knew that 168 would be the appropriate fit, as you had talked about in the “inner taillight” replacement tutorial. Overall, this video was extremely helpful
Ohh yes. The inner taillight is a 168 Bulb. Glad you found the video useful and were able to change yours! Do check out the playlist for the 2011-2014 Hyundai Sonata. There are 25 videos made just for your car. Thank you for your kind words 🙂👍

@@VirarAutomotive Many Thanks for your help. But I think I will leave it as it is. The replacement needs the whole back seat to be removed. Very poorly thought design for a single bulb.
That's correct. It's not designed to be a serviceable bulb. As it's ideally designed to last the vehicle lifetime. But yeah it's quite a bit of work to get to it.
@@grantjohnson4436 I can't remember what exactly this was about. I had to do it again recently though because the bulbs melt the housing. What part are you stuck at?
Yeah maybe if you wiggle and squeese the bulb, possibly you could get it out, but doesn't save a lot of time. this way its easy and just need to quickly take off the nuts. But yes, it may be possible
How do you remove the female connector of the harness that is mounted right there? It's just a push tab but I can't get it to release so I can pull it off.

My sincere apologies for that. You are correct. It is not 2357. It is a 168 Type Bulb. I will update the video description right away.

how do we change the brake light inside the cabin just behind the rear seat.
That's the third brake light. It's a single LED unit. There are some videos on RUclips for it. It's a slightly harder process to replace it

Fingers to big too get a good feel on the bulb holder. How do you remove the big white clip next to it?
Did you figure this out? I need to remove that because I need to replace the whole harness that as all 4 bulbs but can't get it to release.

Thanks for the info!
You are very welcome! :)
I thought the tail light and brake light were the one and the same and the one that has the cover on it …now I’m confused.
I can’t get mine out because that white thing has the wires pinned down and clamped down. I can’t pull the giant tube out without breaking the wires
How do I remove the white thing after I unplug the other white thing from it
The light bulb melted the light fixture
The original bulb ?
You don’t have to remove the whole assembly
