my favorite kind of git gud is the sekiro kind in elden ring it comes down to your playstyle and grinding levels for uogrades and at some point you can make it without skill, it isnt asking casuals to get gud its asking them to grind away, it makes sense for an open world but i personally hate that style of game sekiro says fuck you to casuals and forces you to learn the game, even though technically there are cheap tricks they wont get you far, you have to git gud you have to parry and manage the environment or youre getting dogpiled by homing attacks
I'm 51 years old. I started playing video games in 2021 with Valheim. Then, a year later, never having heard of From software or Souls games, I bought Elden Ring. Yeah, it went EXACTLY like you think it would! It took me 387 hours to beat it the first time and I will NEVER forget the day I beat Melania! So, if anyone is going to complain about this DLC it is going to be me. Except, I'm not. It is kicking my ass, but it is glorious! This DLC is exactly what it should be!
I respect you good sir. I’ve always been a believer that gaming is a medium anyone of any age can enjoy and I am glad to see you enjoy both the base game and DLC of Elden Ring! 👍🏼
I had to be reminded that I'm a souls players. I was falling into the pit of self pitty and "it used to be good but this is just absurd." I don't remember what exactly happened, but durring the divine beast fight I had to drag victory out of a doomed run because I realized I used consumables I didn't want to, or couldn't, replace. It felt really good. Then during Rellana, I got a parry off that I didn't think was possible, and I realized "No, its not absurd, it's just been a while since I was properly challenged. Lets do this shit."
Yeah I just got to him, and I was not having it. I just quit the game because I already have been playing for 6 hours straight, I'm not gonna keep going especially not against a tree sentinel × clash royale hog rider baby

This is genuinely the most unfun dlc ive played i deleted elden ring today, the game itself is good, i beat the main game, but the dlc is just so hard. It doesnt even feel good after finally killing 2 bosses in 3 days. Before i beat the main game i felt achieved after killing a boss. I dont feel that with this, it feels more like a chore, go in the portal, mess up one dodge, die, then its rinse and repeat, and thats happened for idk how many hours, even after i went around the map for 4 hours for fragments. You die in 2 hits, but it feels like some of these bosses moves just have no way to avoid them. Its a bit too punishing.
My twin and me the first 3 bosses and now after finding 16 scadutree frags. Twin I think I got these now I'll call you when a boss like RELLANA makes me question my stats and build again.
spirits and phantom summons are exactly what they've always been, just a difficulty slider, which is fine. what i will say is this, using summons does drastically change most of the boss battles, negating or removing entirely, various boss mechanics. so yeah, they are there to be used but they change a fight so much that it effectively means you arent fighting the same boss as some one that doesnt use the summons. just something to keep in mind when deciding if you're gunna use a summon just to get past the frustration of being stuck on a boss or if you'd rather practice the fight and defeat the boss as it was designed.
@@officialdabaws5228if I’m being honest most the boss fights feel almost the exact same without the summons as it does with you get more breathing room though. But the mechanics of the boss are the same it doesn’t change their moveset. The spirits die usually before the boss is a little past half anyway I’ve noticed
“Git Gud” is actual, genuine, and incredibly useful advice. Literally just take the time to get better at the game, make a good build, explore the map and get items that increase your stats, and learn attack patterns. Yeah, you could end up like me, throwing yourself at a brick wall until it crumbles, but it’s fun to throw something at the wall and see what sticks. If one strat doesn’t work, switch it up, adapt, and make the boss your bitch, then proceed to flip FromSoft off.
It's a pretty dumb move though because anyone not using the meta gets slapped and those abusing it are still abusing it. All they really had to do honest to God is give bleed a cooldown like ds1 or 2.
Dogs jumping out of bushes, Rennala humbling me over and over, those damn creepy jars, the fire giants kicking boulders at me, and realizing that I still have half of the map to explore is causing me to have joy/anxiety. I love this dlc!

At the start I was a little frustrated because of how uneven the fight was, but as soon as I started catching up with her combos I saw progress, and let me tell you, going from dying as soon as I enter the fog to getting consistently to phase to is such an amazing experience. For me the learning curve in difficult fights and the challenge to be overcome when the odds are in your sfavour are what made me fall in love with the saga, so props to fromsoftwere for getting them back in this amazing dlc. At the end you really only have to git gud
There's plenty, PLENTY ways to take damage and not get one shot. They literally give you the tools in the game. If the game is difficult, then you are too stupid to make use of what you are given. Talisman for magic resist, incantation for spell resist. Leveling vigor. Certain shields/armor. Use what you're given and it becomes easy. I was disappointed Rellana took me 2 tries(1st try was me learning/seeing the moveset).
Hey! Saw your comment and thought you might be talking about the Ascended mod, im a head beta tester/side developer for it so thought I’d give my input as the only person who beat the current… or rather pre SoTE release version… this is actually on par with some of the Ascended early game bosses such as Godrick or even god forbid Renalla. @@JoshuaGraves113 you probably don't realize this but what you're saying only works if the things you're "supposed to be using" are set inside of your preferred playstyle. Sure if you play with a shield anyways then you don't give a damn which one you use and you can just switch to one that blocks more magic or whatever it is you keep dying to, but if you're like me and haven't touched a shield since DS1, then you don't want to do that. And tbh even when you beat the boss with those "cheese strats", it doesn't feel good. I don't want to be forced to choose between dying to stupid shit or using something i don't want to use, just because some people created "easy mode builds" in the base game. it's not a fair challenge, and being a fair challenge is the whole point of souls games. The only thing I added was a pearldrake talisman, dragoncest shield and occasionally depending on the boss a health talisman combined with claw talisman. If not health, Jar of alexander to make (spoiler) savage lions claw deal alotta damage. With scadutree fragments you can really make the game easier, witouth them I 4-hit Omens, with them it's 2 at most. And you don't get one shot, idk about ng+ and others, but you get one shot there by soldier of godrick soooo
Well then you're proving my point. All the tweaks you made were inside your comfort zone, so you didn't care as much about them. But for a lot of people they aren't. And on the topic of scadutree fragments.. I had a discussion about exploration with someone a while ago, in which i praised Elden Ring for it's "optional" exploration system that often rewards you with things you will never touch in your playthrough, but then sometimes sprinkles an interesting weapon or spell in. On the other hand we had games like genshin impact or BotW where exploration felt more like a chore, because you already know what you're gonna get from every single thing you find on the map. (primogems for character pulls in genshin / heartcontainers/stamina upgrade in BotW) Now with the addition of scadutree fragments, the exploration in the dlc has been downgraded partially to that exact same level of "feels like a chore". Even Jacob is proving this by saying "just whip out an interactive map". Like bro.. if i have a map and already know where i'm going and what i'm getting then i'm not exploring, i'm running errands.
The cookbooks scattered around the map are also a hint to use buffs more often. The community made it a meme instead of actually taking that knowledge, picking a couple plants, and then making the next boss way easier because they levelled up not just through the power of scadoobie, but through the power of crafting. There are literally bosses in the main game, and likely the DLC that can be taken down in 1-2 thrown pots if you figure out their weakness. The difficulty of Shadow of the Erdtree is coming from players ignoring 90% of the mechanics because the main game didn't require them. The assumption that the expansion wouldn't require them too is getting players killed.
people dont use what's infront of them and then call people losers and not real players because they used the fucking mechanics in the game, i hate the way the souls community thinks like that, "if ya didn't do it eyes closed and with your feet it wasn't actually a challange lolololo" like god it is annoying, i willl always partake in jolly cooperation and i will use buffs because that is what solaire and miyazaki wanted me to do
You know that this isn't true. I know yall narcissists love to ego ride whatever feeds your bubble, but hear me out when I say...... That this weird arse community is TOO PROUD and narcissistic to use any sort of tool, Scadutree fragments included....Because yall weirdos think it makes the game "too easy" and is considered cheese. DODGING???????11?1?1 CHEESE!!!1!11!1!!!!1! Using the holy cookbook you get before a deathblight/Undead enemy, obviously telling you their weakness????? CHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSEEEEEEEEEE
Tbh, I would rather spend an hour or 2 learning the attack patterns more in depth than farming mats & runes for 2 hours so I can have 5 attempts with buffs. It’s easy to say but literally, what’s the point, when eventually most players get the “whatever it takes” feeling & re-specs into a bleed build, tank or perfume build

The issue is that 1, that’s true of basically any boss that isn’t the bed of chaos, and so you’ve basically invalidated criticism made towards these games and 2, so what? So what I can beat it? It was still and incredibly emotionally underwhelming fight that felt tedious to learn, rather than fun. I play games to have fun and I haven’t been having fun with Shadow of the Erdtre. These games have always been about sharing information with the community! It's built into one of the most common mechanics you encounter, the messages! It's practically expecting you to use a guide eventually.
I believe that the bosses are just getting too quick and complex for the outdated dark souls type movement. If Elden Ring had taken aspects of combat from bloodborne and sekiro these bosses would become more manageable and made the game better as a whole
Like how if you don’t lock on the enemies don’t parry you in Sekiro super hard content. Locking on in Elden ring is a trap to every single enemy is to fast or big to want to lock on it keeps you in a circle pattern around the boss which is how they’re attack patterns are made to hit you while locked on. Rolling is also a trap over half of the enemies attacks can be jumped it’s wild.
@@Lv1Jolteonsomeone watched a leviathan video 😉. I agree with you but the point OP tried to make is that bosses just move too fast, and that the players mouvement should be augmented, like in sekiro or bloodborne. I get that, I think it’s very understandable and the dlc does make me feel this way sometimes, buts it’s important to remember that fromsoft simply wants to make the game harder ( not netgative ) and so it makes bosses very fast and have complex attack patterns, but that’s only another way to make the game harder. It’s doesn’t make it unfair or unfunny ( for me at least ), it just adds to the pile of reasons why Elden ring bosses are better than you, and why it’s so satisfying to beat them.
Good point Elden Ring is overall almost same game after 13-15 years biggest change they did they made world bigger more open wolrd and having more bosses.

spirits and phantom summons are exactly what they've always been, just a difficulty slider, which is fine. what i will say is this, using summons does drastically change most of the boss battles, negating or removing entirely, various boss mechanics. so yeah, they are there to be used but they change a fight so much that it effectively means you arent fighting the same boss as some one that doesnt use the summons.
just something to keep in mind when deciding if you're gunna use a summon just to get past the frustration of being stuck on a boss or if you'd rather practice the fight and defeat the boss as it was designed.

And tbh even when you beat the boss with those "cheese strats", it doesn't feel good.
(primogems for character pulls in genshin / heartcontainers/stamina upgrade in BotW)
Now with the addition of scadutree fragments, the exploration in the dlc has been downgraded partially to that exact same level of "feels like a chore".
Even Jacob is proving this by saying "just whip out an interactive map".
Like bro.. if i have a map and already know where i'm going and what i'm getting then i'm not exploring, i'm running errands.

Well, I'm new to elden ring, and the very first boss 'Margit, the fell omen' has killed me more times than I can count.

Honestly, the only attack I mildly dislike is her blue sword attack in phase 2, which is annoying af to dodge, cuz if I sprint, I get hit by the second two low slashes, but I can’t dodge fast enough either.
@@WorldKeepsSpinninme personally i beat the hippo 3rd try but i understand that its hard but its not the hippo thats hard to me its the tiny ass boss arena bro like damm i was trying to fight te camera the whole Fight
Bro I’m barely surviving trying to go to the haligtree and thinking I’m gonna be ready to play the dlc.
I find it funny how almost every boss has some form of nuke
I actually agree with both sides here. Something can be so hard it’s poor game design, while simultaneously the audience of the game kinda asking for it
I heard a great line from a friend who a souls vet he said "something can be so hard it's unfair when it's unfair you lose the fun aspect and you lose the fun you lose players" and playing ER for 300 hours yes totally some enemies are are unfun but there's also a mindset that if your not good your just a casual
@@AneirinRPG Except people call everything unfair when they struggle... Give your bloody mother a controller and she'd find 'Soldier of Godrick' unfair.
Personally, I really don't think any of it is unfair. People do hitless runs all the time and there's a multitude of solutions to problems you face in game.
It's only unfair if you expect to win first time, whilst under leveled and not adapting to the enemy which is the main problem here. People went in expecting their OP bleed builds from the base game to breeze through the DLC.

The first thing I noticed about adressing the way people ahve been playing the base game, was that you can't strafe many attacks from the bosses in the DLC

The speed alone in the boss encounters is crazy. Finally beat it and went back to finish the main game I felt like a freaking GOD. The pace made me better at my response control.
I used a guide to find like 15 of the scadutree fragments so I could get a pretty decent buff in my damage, and honestly I feel no shame. I want to have fun with the dlc, and I am because of it.

I love this DLC, it promotes exploration and has absolutely stellar boss fights. Relanna's double moom bounce was absolutely insane
I got hit by it the first time, and i wasnt even mad 😂 but yea some of her movesets love to frame trap you
Not gonna lie I was soo hype when she did that I didn’t even dodge it properly and chocked the first try , the proceed to take 10 attempts to beat her 😂
And the third follow up sword strike actually combos you if you dodge the first but not the second moon . Just a warning cause that tilted me when it happened to me 😂
I agree.
Its forced exploration which wonders me since most places in the dlc are already worth visiting by their design.
I just want the bosses to give one second to breathe, it’s just constant chaos
Edit: guys I AM using summons, the bosses are just too aggressive and switch focus mid combo, I have to pray and hope my heal works without the boss targeting me randomly

Use summons to distract them

i was kinda down when i started playing ER and felt it easy... till i get to Radahn, Mohg, Malenia and stupid Radagon. I loved it. i loved the fact i had to gitgud and actually try to visit every corner of the game and level up enough to get a comfort. Now the dlc came i am kinda lost of the verticality but man... is incredible the beauty of it all. From Software did it again.
rellana was such a good fight that i had to have a fucking gojo awakening to win
I swear we are going to hear "git gud" response no matter what game Fromsoftware will make
Miyazaki already stated that the game is supposed to be difficult and he wants you to feel something when you accomplish it
Because that is legitimately good advice. Sure maybe we don’t elaborate on HOW to “git gud”, but it is the most valid advice we can give you.
Yes. Because when people actually “git gud” you’ll see challenge runs where people will do this with the worst build in the game
@@Lv1JolteonThe ironic part is that when a boss is too difficult, you don’t feel like you’ve achieved anything when you’ve beaten it, just that you got lucky.
Basically no boss in ER gave me that feeling of mastery after beating it I felt in previous games.
@@cosmic2750The issue is that it’s an uncalled for response. No advice is being asked for with a critique of the game.
If I say that Rellana feels like rng whether or not I dodge her long combos, you’d be technically right in pointing out that if I spent the time to learn how to fight her, I’d probably be able to beat the fight hitless. And when people point this out, even with reasoning given, people overlook it because it’s assumed to be a skill issue and not just an example of poor design on the games side.
I love how difficult it is. Gives a challenge and forces you to “ git gud”. Such a good refresher
It is a little over the top though. I had one character severely over leveled and he was still getting two shotted by basic minions with level 7 seductree stuff
The bosses I revel in how hard they are. They’re demigods. They should be nearly impossible. However. Those pesky hyper armor soldiers of messmer should not be two tapping a character with 60 vigor
I’m all for getting gud, but the last boss of the dlc is way beyond just getting gud, that’s extreme!
Wait until you get to the last boss 😂 they got nerfed from the pre-release and still are incredibly overtuned. Took me an hour and a half to beat it. Definitely the hardest boss I’ve gone against in a fromsoft game.
@@ohitzrattly7378the enemies scale with level, so the dlc is much harder for over leveled players.
It's the feeling of overcoming the hardest bosses you face, learning to dodge them and fight. So fun.
It reminds me of when people said RE6 was called the least scariest RE game and Capcom released RE7 right after.
We did this to ourselves
This dlc honestly feels like a challenge specifically to those that beat the game without getting hit once lmao they must of taken it personally
From software really said “you f*cked around and now you gonna find out”
These games have always been about sharing information with the community! It's built into one of the most common mechanics you encounter, the messages!
It's practically expecting you to use a guide eventually.
Lmao free advertisement for the DLC, now I wanna try shadow of the Erd Tree even more!
Who needs a wiki guide when FightingCowboy made a 100% tutorial
Yea I followed his sekiro walkthrough
That legend carried me in DS2 and ds3
Use a summon if you don't like them being and focusing on you. Summons make the game kinda easy at times but still at least you beat it
Eh, I dunno, I don’t really know how much we’d get out of Bloodborne’s strafe dodging.
Good point Elden Ring is overall almost same game after 13-15 years biggest change they did they made world bigger more open wolrd and having more bosses.
Embrace the Git Gud fever dream
The advanced ai in siege insta locks on your head so you have to have a quick reaction time
Rellana is my favorite boss of the dlc since I love her boss fight. Phase 2 plus her remembrance weapon was so cool.
bayle is better
Personally I find her a pain to fight, not that she is too difficult, but just annoying. It feels like a chore to fight her and the final boss to a lesser extent. Rolling 95% of a fight isn't really fun or engaging. Every other boss is pretty awesome though
When I beat Mesmer, I was screaming like a mute because everyone in my house was asleep. I just couldn’t hold it together.
