amazing amazing, thank you very much from a dad to a dad! Now the only thing left for me to fix is the tires to get some traction and the get the noise level go down a couple of notch 😃
Thank you very much for sharing your project and list of parts used! This is exactly what I was looking for! I'm gonna use exactly the same parts and set-up to upgrade my son's three-wheel motorcycle. But as the vehicle is a motorcycle instead of a variable speed pedal I would like to use 3pin 5v input twist throttle that I will mount on the handlebar. Unfortunatelly I cannot find such a twist throttle which output range is the same like the one on the pedal (1-4v), but I find only 0.8-4.2v output range throttles. Do you think it would work properly if I use such a throttle?
It seems to me, that the speed ramps down so quickly, that the brake pedal isn't going to do much good - especially with toddler reaction time. No harm in the pedal being there, I suppose though. I was curious, though. Back when the vehicle was four wheel drive, was there ever a chance to use the 4WD/2WD selector switch? I'm trying to figure out, if there's ever a good reason to run in 2WD mode, when there are four motors installed. It seems to me, that the non functional motors would create enough drag, that it would drastically and negatively affect performance. I suppose, depending on how it's wired, it might even create a handbrake effect. Just wondering if you had any experience with the switch? It's a moot point now, though.
I purchased this Jeep used and it was barely working when I got it. I think we only used it in 4WD mode at the time. Yeah I don't see much of a point in being able to switch to 2WD mode.
question... can you keep the stock shifter, specifically the lo/hi speed? I want to have a variable speed pedal, but I dont want that pedal to access the full 24v unless the hi speed is selected. Basically, I want the kiddo to have access to all the speed, but I dont want him stuck on 24v max and has to control the pedal... pedal control is still a skill to be learned at these young ages.
I just bought this and did a test real quick before permanent install and it seems to work with the 2 speed shifter with reverse on my powerwheels F-150 bench testing. I'm assuming it will be ok once I get in permanently wired in. On 1st gear only one wheel spins forward and on 2nd gear both wheels spins forward and reverse works on one wheel. I am installing 24v battery on this truck so I bought this to help with saving the gear boxes and jolting.
@@aaronortiz4259I’m pretty deep into mine since this message. Can confirm you’re right it works. I had one wheel spinning too in certain switch positions (shifter). Check to make sure all wires making good contact to the switches in the shifter. I had a lose one and that fixed it! I have a low voltage cut to a remote kill switch on a relay. Then the pwm is feb by both a buck converter (13.8v) or straight battery (24v) via 5 pin relay. I have the relay hooked to a momentary switch to give the kids a “nos” button. Switch flips the relay to give it 24v. Fun stuff
thats an awesome idea@@Andrew-FKF . if this box is reliable....im going to gut all the wiring out of my grandkids other ride on...its a realtree 24v UTV ride and install this box as well ...this is much cheaper option than what other companies sell.
thanks. working on getting hardware ordered.@@hoovejdThe plan is to run this off a 6s LIPO I have for RC already. Its currently wired to LVC that runs a relay. power from relay goes to an esc up front that controls voltage to the motors. Still using stock hi/lo/rev shifter. Keeping the output voltage around 16-18v. No soft start in this basic esc tho. MY PLAN is to run one of the esc you have here in the back to provide the soft start.
My son has yet to ride it long enough to fully deplete the battery. I think the most it was ever ridden was around 45 minutes. I usually always put it on the trickle charger when not in use. As such, I don't have good answers to your questions. The times will of course be different depending on the amp hour (AH) rating of your battery.

I can't say for certain, but I would think that the voltage range of 0.8-4.2v would be close enough to work.

how's it holding up. I'm ordering this right now. Excellent work.
So far everything is still working well!

Nice walkthrough, why did you go down to 12v from 24v?
The radio and lights need 12v.
the step down was for accessories only, 24v still goes to motors
will both motors run off that one esc or will you need two?
both will run on one

Whats the point of series current 24 just to go down to 12v again? Why not just parallel wiring?
I used the Voltage Downconverter to go from 24v down to 12v to supply 12v to the lights and radio.
How long does it last till it shuts off and How long does it take to charge?
