Looking to purchase the Razor 500 for my 7yr old. He has experience on an electric 24v electric atv. I just want to make sure I buy a good one. I've seen so many with mixed reviews. Best Buy had the 500 for sale right now. Thanks for any help. Love how your son explains how tall he is btw.😊
Thank you so much for this video I want to get one for my 6yr as a Christmas gift and I couldn’t tell witch one to get now I know to get the 500. THANKS!!!
So do you think the smaller one would be too little for my daughter? She’s turning 6 & is 64lbs. I want to get her a four wheeler or something to ride but I can’t afford the $700+ for the 500… but I don’t want to spend $400 on the small one if it’s not going to be fun for her…
@@TheSwampStalker thank you for responding! That gives me some peace of mind before buying. We just got our 3 year old a 12volt tractor and it flies with him, even makes it up our hills. So hopefully a 24volt will be just as fun for her.
They both outgrew them, but those things held up great. The little razor was given to a co-worker for her kid and he is still running that thing. It is now 4 years old, and not treated gently.
The smaller one I have been researching for my 5 year old and it has a weight limit of about 120 pounds...so technically he could. Depending on how much he gains in the next few years would be your determining factor on if you want to buy it.
The huge advantage to the 500 is the width. The Razor is so narrow it can tip very easy. But, the 500 is faster. Kind of a pick your poison scenario. If it were me, I would go with the 500 and put a speed controller on it. It will last him a lot longer.
Do you know how these compare to a 50cc gas quad? We have a 2 yr old and a 6 yr old. The 6 yr old has been driving a 50cc since he was about 4 1/2. The 2 yr old has outgrown his 12volt, in a matter of months. He gets bored on it because it can't do what he wants to do and he is capable of doing. I ride/drive with him on the 50cc. He just can't physically reach the brake, but helps pull it in when I help him. He controls the throttle on the 50cc appropriately. But, a 50cc is too big of a machine for him to drive himself. I was wondering if a 24 volt or 36 volt quad would be worth investing in until he is big enough?
The razor quad would work, but I would highly recommend the throttle adjuster like I had on the one in this video. Without it they can be easily flipped if you turn while going too fast, which could turn out bad. With the throttle adjuster on it, you can slow it down to a crawl and gradually increase it as he becomes more experienced. And it will last him a while. I got my throttle off e-bay from "overvoltedscooters". If search for 'razor quad throttle', you will find it.
So my is your sons age but almost your daughters size... which one should I get? He is new at riding but I'm not... so should I just get the 500 and ride on with him until he is comfortable?
In my opinion, while the 500 is a little faster, it is actually safer because it is so much wider than the smaller razor. The small one is really narrow so it flips very easily. The wider 500 quad is much harder to flip over in sharp turns. If it were me, I would definitely go with the 500.
I purchased the exact 500 for my son, worked great first day. Second day fully charged wouldn't even start. Ever have this issue or any suggestions? :(
@@TheSwampStalker I think a fuse blew one of the 3 batteries. We took it to battery mart and they said the middle one was dead, so they replaced and its been fine since! My son loves riding it! Thanks so much for getting back to me! Stay blessed! =]
My son just turned 3 and the small original razor is too slow for him. I gotta upgrade to the 36Volt soon or just buy him a real dirt bike with training wheels
Awesome video man. I looked around a lot on youtube and no one tells you how old or tall their kids are. It really helped me out. Thanks
Thank you so much, it help me a lot.
i was looking at this same set up!! son is 3 and daughter is 7!! thank you so much cant wait to get her the 500!!!
My daughter lovers hers. I am sure yours will to. It is a quality machine.
I’d recommend rzr turbo 1000
I appreciate you sharing. I plan on upgrading from a paw patrol to the razor for my nephew and this video helped my decision.
Thanks, we were looking at these and needed this comparison.

for a 6 year old you should get the smaller one
Thanks you for the video it helped allot
Info or link on where to get the spees limiter on ebay
The 500 can you limit it also?
Ty very much was getting one for my grandson he's 6
Glad it helped! He's going to love it.
Where did you get tbe after market controller to dial down the speed ? I just ordered one for my 3 year old son.
Lol I kinda pulled the trigger early. You clearly say at 2:30 of the video. Thanks pal! Great video !
Where can I find a razor 4wheeler?

I think she will enjoy it. They are quick and have a pretty high weight limit. You can sometimes find good deals on a used one.

Great video. Thinking of buy one for my son. I hear about issues with the spindle breaking. How has your held up since the video? Thank you.

For the razor 500 can u like lift the seat up? I’m 12 and I really wanted one of these
No. The seat is not adjustable.
I think 12 is fine for the dirt quad 500, ive seen adults ride it and still go fast
I ordered 500 for 4 years old I hope it is not to big for him😮
Can my 11 year old 80 pound son ride the smaller one?

i think you should buy him the bigger one
What a light son there
thank you so much, do you think the bigger quad will be fine for a 10 year old?
Please check my channel. I have other quad reviews.
Looking to get one for my son 5.5 yrs old 38lbs almost 4 ft. Only has experience on the big wheel versions, would the 500 be to much?

Does the quad (the smaller one) have reverse?
Neither have reverse
Super helpful vid, thanks!

TheSwampStalker this will be his first atv... should I buy razor or do u suggest another brand?
@TheSwampStalker what's the name of the parts website you mentioned? And also is there a battery upgrade kit for it?
I got mine on ebay from "overvoltedscooters ". If you look them up you will find all the parts mentioned.
@@TheSwampStalker thanks for the great video and response
Did your 500 start making the grinding noise? How did you fix it?
Never had that problem, but my first guess would be the chain tensioner.
ay im 11 im 4'11 and around 65lbs do you think i can get the original dirt quad and upgrade it
i think your better off getting the 500

Look under the front fender near the frame. There should be a fuse holder around there. Check for blown fuse.
Also a flip the on off switch back and forth a few times. Make sure it is fully switched to on position.

Will these climb a long paved driveway with a 16% (10 degree) slope?
I think they definitely would but it would drain the batteries faster.
what is the top speed ?
thanks man
It’s only 1mph faster than the other model according to spec sheets.
yeah but the 500 has a lot of mod potential
Cheers man thanks. what was that site you go to for the aftermarket razor mods?
I got the controller and speed adjuster as a package deal off of Ebay. There are several sellers on there who have them.
Can you still read it if you’re 18
Thanks
Thanks fore the video I was wondering what the differences were
I got a forrwiller
Can they write
J
I started on a gas atv
I started in a Nitromethane dragster
If my parents got me an electric atv I would be mad
I would have been beyond thrilled if my parents had bought me any ATV
