Could you do a Dark Samurai build just focusing on Dark Gifts? I've just been powering up strength with Atlas and GXM veil and I have like 800 Dark. I was wondering if you got really high in either high Dark or high light if the damage would go up and if so with which more?
Hi, you should've used Intensification to Buff up the Mind Stats Scaling instead of Fortification Instead of Bridge of Glory, use Cognitive Zeal (10 Medal skills in Mulyiplayer) to increase Mind and Willpower stats since the attack is too low to be in NG+ :)
What makes the Argent Wolf Blade better than the Crimson Longsword from Preorder? Is it simply the slightly faster attack animation and damage per swing? Just curious since Crimson has better mind scaling and lower weight.
Even though the gifts seem to cast instantly, you can speed up the cast time with gift speed up passives and actives. Mias communal gift gives a flat 2 ichor reduction on spell cost, which puts the barrages at only 2 ichor each. You can cast all 3 and cast blood sacrifice in the meantime to get everything you lost back. Not to mention if cleansing light is on it will restore 75% of the hp you spent for that ichor (as long as youre the host. It seems to be broken most of the time online as a guest). Evas communal gift might make them twice as powerful, but they are also twice as costly. This is good if all youre looking for is more burst, but Mias doesnt make them weaker at all, so you are just getting twice as many barrages per ichor.
Been watching your videos during bits of dark souls 3, this video pretty much helps me in code vein on working with certain builds or trying them out and I gotta say this one is really good.

Don't need DLC to get those... just play the game again and don't save the successors. There are 3 endings. Complete all 3 and you're guaranteed to have everything.

I tried so hard to find a "perfect setup" for the queen blood code too... but.. turns out you'll always be better off by NOT using this specific blood code. xD
I tried this build and it's a lot weaker dps wise than my dark build, at first I thought I was doing something wrong but apparently the barrages were nerfed...
Another way you can run it is with Queenslayer and using Final Journey. I was doing 10k damage per barrage cast (on the dummy) versus a little over 7k with Eos. Downside of course is with Gift Extension, you only have 4.5 minutes to reach a checkpoint/beat a boss. You don't have as much Ichor, but I was using it as a caster/melee hybrid, so I could just melee them for a ton of damage as well.
I didn't take the exact build, but took a lot of it and it's way too fun. Zipping around, barraging either single or groups and then sometimes just slap them with the sword, which also does decent damage.
Willpower casters are still better at range. With this build, you have to get right up in their face. But Eos overall is fantastic. You can trivialize elemental damage and Bridge To Glory is hilarious. Equip two revive spells and use Cleansing Light and then boom, you're a healer. Use Sympathetic Bond after using Cleansing Light. Stealth builds are great too, you can just backstab with Lifesteal and Regenerative Drain and get your hp back. You can backstab the entire level and then switch to a different Blood Code loadout for the boss. It's amazing when you are solo or with a friend who is willing to communicate with you.
For my first playthrough I used bayonet with Eos as a support shooter, and just tweaked it today to a similar light mage build. As long as you can get close the damage output and ichor efficiency really is a lot more impressive than dark mage...
A better Eos Passive set up is Light Impulse, Mind Up, Weapon Drain Up, Swift Destruction. Cleanaing light helps you stay alive so you don't need as much health.
@@VelvetMagicianugh I just remembered I stopped playing the game lol. I setup emulation on my pc and went down that rabbit hole so abandoned my ps4 in a way lol I remember getting to the bottom of that white cathedral maze place
Hey cowboy I dont know if you will see this but the final journey skill gives a 50% damage reduction and sets your move speed to quick regardless of your weight, in exchange for killing you after 3 minutes, the thing is killing bosses clears the self kill debuff, quick destruction plus final journey is a 70% total dmg buff, that plus the build you have here you could absolutely shred bosses
This build is ridiculous! Gonna try it out, but wanted to ask two questions: What are viable early to mid game 1H swords before getting Iceblood or Argent Wolf Blade? And regarding the question before, is Crimson Longsword a viable option? Thanks! :)
I'm playing the trial edition and it seems fun. It's like an anime bloodborne. So many choices to play as. I'm not good at building characters as in what weapon to use with whichever blood veil along with what gifts.
ng+ solo is the way to go. caster builds need someone to hold the agro and without partner (and no communal gifts) cannoneer and blade bearer (depths) is a great challenge with massive satisfaction as a build creator reward
if you can't find an argent wolf blade or don't wanna farm it, you can replace the Revenant's Ambition with a Dex/Will passive which will allow you to use the Ice Blood, the lightest sword in the game. You will get quick mobility just from that, and you get that sword guaranteed from Blade Bearer so no need to rely on RNG to farm those dudes. Its move set is just as fast as the Argent sword, it also scale a bit better than Argent so you can squeeze a bit more out of your attacks spams. And you can use Bloodsucking as well, so better Drain.
I don't really know why people are so scared of the enhanced NG+ when playing this build. Whatever they said, this build is SO strong overall (it does a ludicrous amount of damage, ridiculous survivability, the only downside is that you just have to git gud to a certain degree) , and imo, MUCH stronger than the tank and spank build (two-handed weapon with blocking). At first, i really prefer tank and spank build since it does good damage, feel safe, etc... but this build is on another level, and it is really fun to play too. I kindda play around and tweak this build a bit to fit my playstyle, but still. FYI, I played this build against every bosses in enhanced NG+, and i never see much difference between normal mode and enhanced mode with this build. Thanks Cowboy! true hero!
1:16 About Argent Wolfblade: I farmed the guy in the white armor now for like 50 times. Did not drop a single sword. Meanwhile i have 7 of the two handed axes that drop from the lost above the ladder. either I'm unlucky like no other, or this enemy doesn't drop Argent Wolfblade anymore.
Hunted for Argent Wolf Blade from the armored guy [same attire as Davis's] at the trenches.. Repeated for around 20x until it finally dropped it. I needed to equip Revenant's Greed tho for higher drop rate
Wow thanks for the new build, i was following your Mage 2.0 build with a bit mix up of my own ( aka using Zweihandler + ISIS as base class + 1 2 -hand sword gifts, it was quite fun + challenging cuz i dont like slow pure mage at all but this light mage look interesting) Also Survival instinct seems to be a very good passive too?
Looking at this, couldn't you use queenslayer for boss fights? Final journey boosts all stats by 50% and sets your speed to quick. You can take survival instinct instead of revenants ambition and just start the fight at 50% hp to get the boost from that. You might have less mind scaling, but the boost overall would be worth it I'd think.
Long-winded comment incoming, but I've found some interesting tweaks to this build from my own experience that I thought were worth sharing. I've found that it's worth running Mia as your companion over Eva as she not only applies the Bloodsucking Blades buff to you, but her Communal Gift causes your Barrage casts to go down to 2 Ichor cost, and the animation/cooldown is decreased to the point where you can spam two Barrages back to back without relying on a third. Her Communal Gift also increases gift damage, though I'm not sure by how much. The only downside is this decreases your weapon damage, but with Bridge to Glory up you still do way more damage than you would unbuffed. This gives you a ton of room for more Gifts, particularly buffs in this case. What I do is I bring this build to a boss fight with both of the Ichor-increasing Passives equipped (Vow of Ichor, Max Ichor Boost), cast Gift Extension, cast my Communal Gift, and then spam out my other buffs including Hunting Feast, Bridge to Glory, and Dammerung's Iron Will (which also is reduced in cost by Mia's CG). Since I have the extra space I put Blood Sacrifice on to fully buff out, as the Ichor cost rounds out to 41. From there you could add yet another buff or just hold onto the spare Ichor for the beginning of the fight. After that, swap out your Ichor Passives for your damage increases, Revenant's Ambition and Swift Destruction.
There was a post about Mia's gift stating the damage increase is supposedly bugged atm. Decreased cost is good, but is it worth the 50% attack decrease? Given this is ultimately a spell build, your physical attacks do quite a bit of damage thanks to glory as you mentioned. One other thing to consider is most bosses go through phase changes where they're temp immune to damage while they buff themselves or whatever you wanna call it, so having higher burst damage to skip more windows is likely more ideal, Skull King is a perfectly example of this with how he kneels down and does the bloodexplosion.
@@FightinCowboy Damn, does it really not give increased damage? That sucks, it might be a typo in that case, seeing as her Communal Gift also increases Gift speed and reduces Gift cooldown despite it not being mentioned in the description. If it's not and they fix that later down the road then this might be viable again tho. I still want to figure out some unique uses for Mia's Gift though, like seeing if her Gift stacks with Gift Prowess for further-increased spell speed, resulting in certain slower cast time Gifts like the ones in the Queen Blood Code being nearly insta-cast. Dark Mage OP again maybe? XD (EDIT: YES IT DOES. It turns the projectiles in the Queen tree from long cast times into Blood Shot-tier cast times. Very very interesting stuff.) Also from my experience the decrease to damage from her gift only impacts your weapon's unbuffed damage, so the increase from Glory remains untouched. Going off of memory I reached ~1600 pre-Mia gift, and ~1200 post-Mia gift, with ~800 as my starting unbuffed damage. So in this case it took away 50% of the unbuffed damage rather than 50% of the fully buffed damage.
I'm confused about few things here. The big one is that why would you not use Chaotic Ash on this build? It's an instant spell that gives you back about 9.7 ichor when it hits the enemy. Yes the cooldown is 30 second, but seems like a complete no-brainer for this sort of build. Every 30 seconds you would get some Ichor back for very little effort. Second thing I'm confused about is the blood code. However this is more subjective since there are up and downsides. Queen's throat has a quick base mobility and the same light scaling as Eos. So your weapon will have quick mobility even without Revenant's Ambition. It also has a higher willpower allowing the use of Bloodsucking Blades without using any passives. On the other hand Queen's throat does lack in other stats. It doesn't have enough stats for Dammerung. However I'm not sure if that effects getting the buff or not. Secondly Cleansing light is also off the table and melee damage is lower. So It more glass cannon with Queen's throat and more subjective. I tried it with 2 mind passives and using Cognitive Zeal. My barrages were hitting 8517 on the dummy so a decent 14% more. This was without bloodveil transformation. Fortification would give that extra 22 light so it would hit tiny bit harder. Intensification would make give 38, but would lack the defensive buffs from fortification. Both transformations would still have the weapon mobility on quick however.
FightinCowboy Really? That is bare minimum of 9.7 extra Ichor for a boss fight. More if the fight last longer. In regular play there will be a lot of gaps between fights so you will usually have Chaotic Ash for most of them so it will give a ton of ichor sustain. My general gripe about mage builds in this game is that a lot of the gifts for getting ichor back have too many downsides. Chaotic Ash seems like something where it's essentially free Ichor every 30 seconds. With some other gifts it often seems that the negatives can outweigh the positives if the player makes any mistakes. Just to illustrate the effectiveness of Chaotic Ash let's do the math on Hungering Feast that is used in this build. It costs 5 ichor and increases weapon drain rating from 0.65 to 0.88. Without it one hit gives back around 1.167 ichor and with it 1.56 so around 0.4 extra ichor per hit. That means that after hitting an enemy ~12.7 times you will break even with the ichor cost of Hungering Feast. If you want to break even and match Chaotic Ash then you will have to hit the enemy 38 times. If it's a boss fight and you top off ichor before starting the fight then it's around 25 hits to get back 9.7 worth of extra ichor. Hungering Feast is one of the more reliable skills to get ichor back. With blood sacrifice it is a good gift to use before a boss fight. It can however be a rather tiny bang for the buck if the boss dies fast compared to 9.7 ichor from Chaotic Ash. For reference on my NG+ (enchanted difficulty) coop run against Queen's knight reborn I only hit the boss 11 times with a normal attack and once with a special before it died. This was with a halberd build and the fight lasted only around 21 seconds.
Hola,lo empecé hace 10 dias aproximadamente No se cómo rellenar la barra blanca de las habilidades para utilizarlas con otra build Sabeis decirme como hago? Muchas gracias
Brandon Doucette Yes, I’m on PS4. I am still on regular game just farming for materials. By the way, I did beat Virgin Born with this build, my second time defeating it and it was more of a controlled battle. I had a very different build when I defeated it the first time, 2-handed weapons with buffs. He is very susceptible to flame barrage and blood barrage. I give a huge thank you to Cowboy.
Ight was gunna offer to help, I tried using the old 3.0 build on Virgin Born on Enhanced New Game Plus it didn't work very well I had to resort to my old 2Handed Skull King Sword lol BUT it melted everything else even on enhanced difficulty
Its a good build for most bosses as long as you dont get hit cuz in higher difficulties getting hit once is rip lol. Thats what the fast dodges are for but in virgin borns specific case it might take longer to kill cuz its super resistant to elements. Raw physical damage hurts him the most
Actually both work but it depends where you hit. His face and body have different resistances. A body hit with my spells we're doing like 8k whereas hitting A leg or something was like 3k
I don't know if this has been nerfed or what, but I've got basically the same stats as you, but my dummy parse is only hitting 31k and not 52k like yours. Ah, nvm, just looked it up, they were nerfed by basically 40% in patch 1.20. Might be worth adding to your description.
Barrages have been nerfed significantly, you are better off playing as a dark mage or switching to a melee focused build. The only reason to invest into the light stat is for Bridge to Glory from the Eos code and Cleansing Light from Queenslayer
It took a while but I've finally realised all these massive damage one shot builds that nuke bosses were made just after the game came out and the system was broken and could easily be exploited. Now you have to beat bosses the old fashioned way, skill, reflexes and experience, the buffs and passive help you out but they aren't boss beating solutions anymore
What do you think of the Cleansing Light + Blood Sacrifice cheese for tons of ichor for mage builds (yes, you get back 75% of the health you pay with cleansing light when you use blood sacrifice. test it out. it's great)?
Why call it a "cheese" tho. It requires uptime on specific buffs and it STILL hurts you regardless of hurting you less. I just don't see why this is classifiable as a "cheese". It also doesn't work till later in the game as well.
Actually there are a better sword but its interesting, never thought about light mage build, i'll try this in my 3rd playtrough. Tho their is a blood veil and 3 dark gift with which you can do a similar dmg then with this build, I took down the final boss hp to 50% with that build using up 38 ichor.
It really is a DPS asf build, although I had to get around 50-60 Ichor to totally melt the HP of a boss (on hard mode too, not as much as regular, but still good asf)
So I need successor of the throat for revenents ambition which means i need to go into ng+. However if I get the successor of the throat then I'm guessing i cannot have eva as a companion... no... ng+2 i guess.
Just got this today (not played yet though) if I wanted to do a 1 hander/mage like this, but from the start of the game. How would I go about this, please? (when making my character/starting out)
You can't. This exact build is impossible on first playthrough, as the ice barrage and weight passives come from different choices on the fionne fight. It doesn't help that that the barrage gifts got nerfed too. Most of those aren't available til mid to late game on your first playthrough as well. Dark gifts have higher dps now. Ranged and mage builds in general aren't very viable til you're at least halfway through your first playthrough. Spikes for long range attacks, roars for high damage. Codes with high Willpower for dark gifts. Pick a good viel with high dark scaling and max it. If you have a non updated version of the game, merciless reaper from the assassin tree has a bug where it applies to magic, but doesn't consume itself. The only buff worth mentioning for boss fights is survivor's instinct.
@Kayleyb Singh basically, grab the biggest greatsword you've got and just keep flipping codes and passives until the number goes all the way up. Yakumo's sword hits around 3.3k a swing when its all duked out. and then you start using your buffs.
Building off of this, I used Ivory grace and replaced revenant's ambition because it's light enough to be quick, and brings me up to about 1280 for Light gifts and dark gifts around 900 something. Let's me build for quick attacker hybrid light mage and I can use the higher grade drain upgrade gift
This kill the sword guy 5 to 10 times was an optimistic joke right? Or I'm just extremely unlucky, but went through that path around 50 times until I finally got it (with Revenant's Greed active). Know the route with closed eyes by now.
I mean I got it off the one at the end if the game in 2 attempts, not sure if the drop rates differ but they're both Ceberus Soldiers. If you're end game just take the Prov Gov Mistale, go past the hammer guy, and drop down for a sword dude.
@@FightinCowboy I'm close to end game, but not there yet, that's why I took the earlier location. Just wanted a more optimized respec (similar to your dark mage). Love your builds though, but getting this sword was really frustrating. Same droprate probably, maybe you just got luckier.
Quick question: (not sure answered yet) Would Final Journey (Queenslayer B+ Mind) out perform EOS A+ Mind or is the A+ scaling superior? For boss fights only.
I love the build UNTIL you use it against the real final boss and it doesn't do anything to him sadly (at least the old 3.0 didn't) he's highly resistant to elements it seems because it was only tickling him and I had to go back to my old build

@@brandondoucette9236 Yes I used a dark mage build and swapped to my 2 handed build because virgin took unnecessary amount of hits if you use magic, it seems to have some unknown resistance after a hit or 2 that makes magic trash compared to meele. I put mostly everything into the Queenslayer Greatsword (I'm still quite early on in the game) and it can one shot 8/10 times, paired with Atlas and GXM Variant. Good for early game but nothing like that mage build lmaooo
You can do that with this build but swap out the weapon to a two-hander. EOS (the blood code he is using) has good STR scaling at B. You wont get as much ichor back because you hit slower, but big weapons gives stagger chance wich can help you set up damage in certain situations :)
wait what, i had another phase at the final boss, he transformed into a big thing like 20 meters big and it was a nightmare to kill him, took me 20 tries at least

A better Eos Passive set up is Light Impulse, Mind Up, Weapon Drain Up, Swift Destruction. Cleanaing light helps you stay alive so you don't need as much health.

Thanks! :)

Code Vein Mage 3.0: "I am Vampire Sawed Off Shotgun."

btw nice video, thanks :DDD
ng+ solo is the way to go. caster builds need someone to hold the agro and without partner (and no communal gifts) cannoneer and blade bearer (depths) is a great challenge with massive satisfaction as a build creator reward
if you can't find an argent wolf blade or don't wanna farm it, you can replace the Revenant's Ambition with a Dex/Will passive which will allow you to use the Ice Blood, the lightest sword in the game.
It's a decent alternative but it doesn't swing as fast or do as much damage. It's weaker in both those areas.
Thank you so much! This helped me kill the Hell fire knight very easily :)
sadly this build doesnt work anymore. the barrages do around 2k instead of 8k dmg. even spikes do more now

Just unlucky, I did it about 80 times till it finally dropped
Nice video man
Looking forward to mage 4.0 kappa
To be honest if there's something even stronger than this I'd love to see it. It's ridiculous how fast these crazy combos are being discovered.
Hunted for Argent Wolf Blade from the armored guy [same attire as Davis's] at the trenches.. Repeated for around 20x until it finally dropped it. I needed to equip Revenant's Greed tho for higher drop rate
Wow thanks for the new build, i was following your Mage 2.0 build with a bit mix up of my own ( aka using Zweihandler + ISIS as base class + 1 2 -hand sword gifts, it was quite fun + challenging cuz i dont like slow pure mage at all but this light mage look interesting)
Also Survival instinct seems to be a very good passive too?
That was super awesome!
Very very interesting stuff.)
Also from my experience the decrease to damage from her gift only impacts your weapon's unbuffed damage, so the increase from Glory remains untouched.
Shh don't, let him find out alone lol. i mean if he didnt get true ending then no blood code for chaotic ash. Amazing skill😂
I've had the true ending, but essentially Chaotic Ash just isn't worth it, 9 Ichor on 30 seconds is oof

Use it against Virgin Born..that’s the boss giving me trouble. I beat it once and tried to do it a second time, not very fun..lol
You on Ps4? and are you on the enhanced new game plus?
I ended up switching to a bayonet build, due to the massive Fusillade Rondo buff
Use this build with Queenslayer and use the Final Journey buff, you will see ALOT more dps, use it mostly on bosses though.
I have no idea why anyone won’t swap into queenslayer to kill boss. Final journey is just disgusting
@@konigstiger3252 is broken XD
It took a while but I've finally realised all these massive damage one shot builds that nuke bosses were made just after the game came out and the system was broken and could easily be exploited. Now you have to beat bosses the old fashioned way, skill, reflexes and experience, the buffs and passive help you out but they aren't boss beating solutions anymore
try the Wolf Mace/axe with Jack oneshot build with all damage buffs active does.... use the Jack hp edge skill before the rest...
Hmm, what blood codes should we be using before we get to Eos?
Great Job.
Love it.

Oh ok sweet

Quick question: (not sure answered yet)
Would Final Journey (Queenslayer B+ Mind) out perform EOS A+ Mind or is the A+ scaling superior? For boss fights only.
Probably, Final Journey had the added benefit of buffing all your damage even if your mind is lower
I love the build UNTIL you use it against the real final boss and it doesn't do anything to him sadly (at least the old 3.0 didn't) he's highly resistant to elements it seems because it was only tickling him and I had to go back to my old build

You can do that with this build but swap out the weapon to a two-hander. EOS (the blood code he is using) has good STR scaling at B. You wont get as much ichor back because you hit slower, but big weapons gives stagger chance wich can help you set up damage in certain situations :)
