Nobody wants to hire that type of problem. Generally, these people will call out more. Or worse, yet go see a doctor get some type of work limitations, which forces the employer to now keep them and work with whatever accommodation the doctor deams fit. If you get a doctor to write a note stating this employee can only stand up for 15 minutes at a time, then the employer would have to respect that.

He also is potentially taking opportunities away from younger people, because now he takes a civil service test braggs about how well he did on it like he's in his 20s or 30s. I don't believe its weight discrimination if they can't do the job. How fair is it to the other workers that they have to do extra work if a guy can't keep up? I just retired; they hired a 25 yo that weighed 400 lbs. Think round ball with stubby arms and legs. Well, I tried to show him some of the work that he'd have to do. His reply, oh, can't, I have a bad shoulder and bad knee. Now tell me that wasn't weight related? And of course it didn't come out during the interview, I'd bet. Everytime you look over, he's sitting on a chair over by the fan, ffs. Many days, I never sat down, didn't have time.

With a majority of Americans already overweight/obese, a lot of people in this comment section acting like this can't/won't happen to them.
From personal experience, its slowly creeps up on, while you are focusing on work and family. I was working 2 jobs, where I sat 12 hours a day, and then commuting in between, there was almost no time to work out. Not getting enough sleep because sleep apnea sets in. At 6'5 and naturally larger (280-290), I ballooned up to 500lbs over the course of 13 years, and then was laid off and let go from 2 jobs in 2010, and I couldn't find anyone who would hire me. Then depression hits, not being able to provide for your family, and you struggle to lose weight even when you have the free time. You do start to feel like the victim.
I was able to break this cycle 7 years ago when I got divorced at 47, but it is still a struggle to maintain the weight loss.

After 3 months we found out that the data that was loaded into the application I was working on was from from another company. This was not legal to use so they canceled the project and let me go.

These positions offer pay ranging from $15 to 50 per hour, and employees can set their own pace based on their availability each week. This guy is the ruler of victim kingdom
He has all the excuses but nothing about what is he gonna do - where is the action
I think this is more mental health than unemployment and I can’t bring myself to laugh at that because it is so sad
Just because people work behind a desk doesn’t mean do nothing it actually means that you can do some exercise even if simple because you can rest at work 😂
The doughnut monster part was funny as hell
As long as it’s everyone else to blame he doesn’t have to do anything better
This is mental health and I think he is a suicide risk

I believe that in some fields of work, discrimination is needed. He'll be the same guy doing security somewhere. I've seen it too many times.

You can still run it at 5’ tall. I’m 5’5 217 lbs, and I was raised to be very self confident. At 55 y/o I’m a Retired Army Officer, work for the government, and worked hard enough to live like a millionaire and have the things I have and travel to wherever I want when I want. I have no sports abilities and have never considered myself handsome. However, I tend to walk (based on what others have told me) like a own a Fortune 500 company and that helps.

I feel like people nowadays are more comfortable sharing their insecurities (in this case him being obese) because the expected response is people should show him pity on them and "give them a break". I'm from the old school and if you let yourself get this big that's all on you, nobody forced you to eat all of that food. You let yourself go. Instead of complaining about discrimination against fat people (and yes that does happen), why not let it motivate you to not become fat so you won't face that type of discrimination. These types of people want the whole world to adjust to them.

Im 6ft 1 and im 202lb currently. i use to be 145lb at 6ft 1inch in my 20s, i started gaining weight in my late 30s and now that im in my late 40s im up to 202lb. Being a trucker i see guys like this all the time and im like ain't no way in hell imma allow myself to get to big to where i can barely get Around without running out of breath just walking. One time we had orientation one morning and this morbidly obese driver was huffin and puffing just walking up the steps. I told myself if i ever get that big im coming off the road for a year or two and get myself back in shape.

Have you considered jobs where your weight would not be a consideration? Call center? Uber/Lyft?
In the meantime, start your own private gigs: dog walking; house cleaning; elder care; personal assistant. It’s not only your weight, but your age and probably your race that are working against you.

It would be better for him to find remote work or a job that will hire him with his weight because there is no way a 55lb man is losing 100+ lbs without drugs or a complete life change. It could take 2-3 years to loose the kind of weight he has if he works hard every day.
