  • Compared the oil clarity for the first 10 hours of my Viking GB. Flew with my Autopilot using the GRT Servos and Sport EFIS.

    My gear oil looks similar with hours 4 and 5 being the cleanest on breaking in the 48 state. I think Jan is using a sealed baring and it is packed in grease so as the gear oil works its way into the barring the grease works its way out and darkens the oil. Not worried about the darkness as if you have ever drained oil out of a transmission or a rear end it will come out black.

    So what ever software update Dynon did for 16.5.2 08/03/2023 interduce something different in the Autopilot roll. I now have the same problem with the wandering around on the heading. I only have a roll servo and had it working great at least when it was not turbulent.

      An even when I am on the ground it could not find a heading. So the last thing I did was up the roll gain to .9 and decreased the CDI gain I as also set the ROLL LOST MOTION COMPENSATION to .5 I think. And while I haven't flown it yet I could set a heading and the stick would turn to that heading and as I set the heading to magnetic it would center.

      I hope you get it figured out! Mine is the GRT flavor, I am sure they are all somewhat similar. Hopefully, I will get to play with mine tomorrow morning! Wish me luck!

      one thin I did last year was to change the length of the control arms to give the servo the maximum amount of travel to the sticks full travel as most of the roll is controlled with pressure stick and not movement. @@mhilderbrand7693
