Late to the party on this one, but the rubber piece you did not use attaches to the fender well from the other side (necessitates liner removal). It's a "velocity stack" of sorts and helps to funnel in air a bit. And yes, you reuse the factory rubber grommets. You do NOT remove the "bolts" as they are meant to stay in. The rubber factory grommets pop on/off of them.
Seems like the factory intake fits the exact same way. Therefore, the truck already has a cold air intake. I just dropped in a K&N replacement panel filter and saved 400 bucks. If what you pay for this intake is worth what you get out of it (additional power/torque). Let me know and I'll buy one tomorrow.
My 2020 Frontier (same engine) has an open breather as well. Pick up a WIX inline fuel filter from Oreilly's. Pops right in. You can cut the other barb off for more air flow.
I did a custom exhaust on my 2021 frontier with the new 3.8L V6. It's 3" aluminized steel catback to a Black Widow Race Venom muffler with dump pipes. I also just ordered my AFE Momentum GT intake and cant wait to install it and see how it helps compliment the new exhaust and performance
I got the same thing that stupid rubber gasket I fought with it but whenever I had it place it just completely let loose and fell inside. So I superglued it in place and was able to fit the manifold in but I’m not sure about it. Gives a louder sound that I think sounds cool. But I wish it was longer seems like I may have gotten a shorter manifold compared to yours.
Did you figure out if there was supposed to be anything on the end of the breather hose for front diff? Or does it just angle down without anything on it?
The same everything as the 2016 except fot the extra gromet the kit they send is not 100% compatible I had to modify several modules in order to make it fit, also they did not include the valve cover to intake hose in the kit like theyr said was there but wasn't ... Easiest way I had it installed before I realized that hose was not included, I hill billied it by using a garden hose piece for a temproarary use and it worked ... got a replacement hose and had to tie wrap it to another spot and it cleared very well
I'm pretty sure that extra large rubber gasket is for the other side of the outer fender. I hear it's kinda of a bitch to get into place and not really that big of a deal if it doesn't go in.
The instructions are online. There's nothing wrong with the design you installed it all wrong. This is why I never buy used cars you never know what the hell the last person did
@@flipflop2221 The end result yes. My comment was just regarding all the issues he had with the installation process. He was complaining about how difficult it was; however, if the steps were taken in the correct order, it would have been an easy install unlike what he had to endure. And have you read other comments? There are countless other people saying the same thing.
Theres no gain at all actually hurting performance. Best to keep the stock air box. Cold air intakes just heat soak the engine. If anything an Xterra or frontier 4x4 deserves and snorkel but you wouldn't be able to do that because you don't own the truck..
1:10 Me as fuck. I hate that it’s so quiet but at the same time idk Id keep all the parts incase one day I wanted to make it quiet again. But I had a 2002 chevy that I had new dual flowmaster exhaust on. Nice and loud. And then I flipped it and have this quiet dorito cannon that I’m trying to figure out how to mod out.
Surely he didn't do all these modifications on a "leased vehicle"...Nissan will require him to return the vehicle in the original condition...I think he did some suspension modifications in a subsequent video...
All that and didn't even gain even a half of a horsepower. People and their myths thinking adding a cold air intake to gas aspirated engines is going to give them horsepower.
I would have taken that back off and sent that thing back.It doesn't fit right and it won't make one bit of difference with performance. It looks like all that thing does is change the shape of your air filter

Would have been awesome to hear it, kinda missed opportunity. Great video though thank you for this !

i was thinking of doing the same thing. tbh they just sound throatier
They have dyno results that show increases in both WHP and Torque.
Next time do it video on that K &N replacement please

K&N includes complete picture directions. Have installed on three Frontiers and they are easy. Easy to service the filter also.
Should be easy, you’re replacing the stock intake assembly with a silly looking, functionally identical component.
What’s the number for the K&N please, thank you
Don't have truck anymore. K&N listed by year so it's easy to match up.

Per the online instructions that oval piece goes on the other side of the fender, you’ll have to,pull the wheel and fender liner to install.
that was the hardest part. I just turned the wheel and popped the fender liner part way and got in in
You installed it all wrong. The big O-ring gasket goes on the snorkel tube, outside of the filter and is secured to the filter box.
that loose hose is a breather; it is all good
I can hear my 22 Frontier engine. I can also hear and feel the constant shifts at 70mph.. 🤣🤣
Mine had a transmission reprogram from Nissan. Even before, its dead steady at 70-85mph.
I can't feel anything after 2nd gear 🤔 smooth as glass shifting
I like my frontier, glad I didn’t have to buy a gladiator!
Yup. Jeeps are junk. These Frontiers are far more reliable than any jeep.
Dude. The instructions are online
I would send it back, the OEM it's designed to work the best

Did you figure out if there was supposed to be anything on the end of the breather hose for front diff? Or does it just angle down without anything on it?
Could you have seal it up better on the air filter if you wouldn’t have put the filter on tight first?

Can we get revs in and out of truck and drive by. Whole point was to hear it 😂😂
Is it common to mod a leased vehicle? Dont you have to remove it all when the lease is up?
In your other video showing what the intake sounds like at wot did u have any non OEM exhaust on or was that just the intake at the type?
Any improvments on MPG ?

The front end on the s model looks better. You should replace your panted lower grille with a black one from the s.80 bucks, well worth it.
How much was the new intake?
We need nissan gtr nismo engine in it and nismo aftermarket parts in it and 5 inches lift kit
Looks good.
I guess we will take your word on the sound
Did you trade your diesel gladiator,I had a diesel gladiator very similar to your and we traded it for 2022 frontier
Why? I mean, the new Frontier looks bad ass just not Diesel Gladiator bad ass.
@@travelinman482there’s nothing Badass about a stock diesel Gladiator
That was dumb.

You should have sprayed some carbon-cleaner down into the engine while you had the mass-sensor off.
not needed brand new truck
He said it's a lease vehicle. He'll be rid of it long before he would have carbon issues.
And the instructions on the website
last thing I want is to know what is going on with my ride.. no way.. hell no.. if i dont hear anything then nothing is wrong right? Right?
After your lease is up do you think you would be interested in letting a viewer win the Z1 intake kit for their 2022 frontier?

@@tgamble1000 I think he said it was a lease I might be wrong.
@@paulstan9828 …he did say it was a lease and he might purchase the truck at the end of the lease…he better because Nissan won’t take it back…
My 2020 has the same engine and it is noisy
Ben better of dropping a k& N filter in, that thing will get hot and reduce power!
There are many better choices for cold air intake.
CAI is a silly scam. The air is cooler coming in from 99.9% of all OEM air intake systems.
And it sounds like ……???
All that and didn't even gain even a half of a horsepower. People and their myths thinking adding a cold air intake to gas aspirated engines is going to give them horsepower.
It adds closer to 10. Watch the dyno testing.
Who the hell leases a truck
From what I found, about 1.8M people a year.
A very painful watch.

yuk🤮
Quiet trucks are unamerican
It’s not worth putting money into a v6
Why do you sound like a prepubescent teenager? 😅
I should have went to comments first
