I read a lot of the forum and you tube know it alls talking about what a horrible filter the kn is. How bad it sucks at not stopping dirt. I just tore my engine down at 196000 miles to replace valve seals and fix other leaks. I was astonished that there was absolutely no wear on the valve stems, cylinder bores or valve buckets. Most of those miles were driven in the gulf coast area, lot of silica sand and other abrasives . The kn works perfectly fine when serviced properly .

Z1 is the best option now. It flows as well as the best we tested while still offering good filtration, sealed box with an inspection window and body grommets (industry first), upgraded inlet volute (industry first), matched snorkel integration is in the works.
Yes it does, it's also worth noting the later models (which it isn't listed to fit) can be made to fit with some creative modding of the secondary grill duct.

It looks like the torque was down on every one of these compared to the stock tune?
How does the z1 intake compare to these?
Z1 is the best option now. It flows as well as the best we tested while still offering good filtration, sealed box with an inspection window and body grommets (industry first), upgraded inlet volute (industry first), matched snorkel integration is in the works.
Doesn’t the volant require moving the horn, or something along those lines?
Yes it does, it's also worth noting the later models (which it isn't listed to fit) can be made to fit with some creative modding of the secondary grill duct.
The newer models of the volant cai are made so you dont have to relocate the horns
Joel Macias 2016?
The late model is available here www.z1offroad.com/air-intakes/volant/volant-08-nissan-frontier-maxflow-v6-40l-cold-air-intake-p-19790.html
Z1 Off-Road and this is the one with the see through air box?
Don't u have to reprogram the engine if u drop in a cold air intake??
Which would be the best package for me 2015 Nissan Frontier putting together the scale system BANKS What would be the intake that is best suited to team up with BANKS system
How does Z1 Air intake do?
When will we hear about which exhaust to use on the new 2020 Frontier engine.
We're working on an exhaust shootout. Currently 2020 clients are modifying the exhaust to fit.
Do you have a graph that shows all these on one place compared to stock?
Is this on 1 pull per intake, with a cold engine? Or, are the results averaged with the same test parameters?
The truck was at operating temp, all on the same day. We did all the tests within a few hours and each test was 3 pulls (we reported the best pull of each).
I got P0101 CEL. Any suggestions? aFe
I know my 19 frontier makes more than that bone stock so that’s interesting, not sure what year that truck is lol it could be anywhere between like 10-20 based on the sightly updated headlights.
making more at the tire or crankshaft?
@@z1off-road ah ya that could be what’s going on. Idk I’ve never dynoed but the specs say at least 268 I believe. So they must be referring to crank power. Which is sad to know I’m making less than I thought.
What was the Volant part number?
Are you selling the intakes that you tested..do you have a barley used volant system..lol..maybe the one you tested in your video..lol
Think we still have a couple from the test, Injen open and closed box. Have a sweet weapon R intake I can make a deal on... :) We will always host sale items like these in our liquidation section just be sure to filter by model. www.z1offroad.com/liquidation-station-c-83165.html
What’s your thoughts on how the Volant stacks up against the Z1 intake?
We still like the volant for it's performance. Fitment with early vs late (around the horns) with the "sealed" box leaves something to be desired and the top window sometimes show cracks around the fasteners from being serviced. Design & construction method is just a little dated by current standards but it does perform well.
Do you guys sell any Nissan D21 parts
You said the truck used for this video already had a tune. Anything else don't to it? What all was don't to get the numbers it had?
It had been previously tuned with only a K&N drop in filter. No other mods, completely stock other than the tune and these intakes we tested with. For this test we ran the baseline run and tested all intakes the same day. Nothing else was done to manipulate or achieve #'s for the test.
