I quit playing in 2009 and eventually came back during covid in 2020. As a result i had never done Lava flow mine when it was new. Having read the wiki page about it I really wasn't looking forward to doing this now ancient minigame. However i really wanted the best pickaxe for the 120 mining grind, so I finally decided it was time to bite the bullet and just go for it. I logged into the "dedicated" lava flow mine server and found the mine completely empty, heavy hearted i got to work. To my surprise, sortly after several people starting showing up, one by one. all complete strangers, from different parts of the world. All hoping they didn't have to do this all alone. we ended up playing the entire night, talking about our lifes, the countries we were from, what music we listened to... 6 total stanger, brought together by a dead minigame now long forgotten. It reminded me of those old days, before social media, and why i fell in love with this game as a kid. It was some of the most fun i had in this game since i came back. thought you might enjoy this story...
The dxp tokens can appear without using the timer. The dxp spirits being nerfed on top of the store price change seems to be the bigger issue. I think spending time for tokens is only worth it for the outfits really but that feels like the only reason to do it plus like you said if someone doesn't have enough time to spend playing the game. At least Hooli is looking into this so I am just gonna wait and see what they announce about adjustments.
Technically yes, Technically no. The token shop was added not last dxp live but the one before that. Its been around for two events before they merged nic's shop into. Which honestly that should of been done from the first time they added in the token store. No reason to have both of them when you can access one from literally anywhere while the other is only at specific locations. Also nic is vic cousin i believe, though we havent had vic return in a good while. If you want to trade in your bonus xp, you gotta summon a random cousin of his via the summon stone from redeeming 1 bond for it. But i believe they are all cousins. Could be wrong and they are brothers. Its jagex after all.

People are sleeping on the thieving outfit. Supposedly, many people reach 200mil exp and never complete the set because its drop rate is abysmally low. Like I fool I paid for a couple pieces of the div outfit before I did a little research. But now I have the complete div, complete artisan, and am about to purchase the complete thieving outfit. Runecrafting, smithing, mining, and prayer outfits are relatively easy to acquire.
Great video, I think one thing people forget about the new DXP stuff is that it happens 4 times a year now. That means to get all the items, you'll still get a few every DXP event if you need some of them and they add new stuff to it from even the folks who already unlocked everything.
Honestly, most the stuff in the shop is pretty easy to get in the game already. As someone who never touched the lava flow mine minigame thingy until about a year or two ago, it really didnt take long to get the outfit, gilded rune pickaxe, gilded dragon pickaxe, and the imcando pieces for the imcando pickaxe. I was there for maybe like an hour, 2 hours max. And was very easy and chill. If youre going to spend tokens on any outfit pieces, i think its best to go for the skilling outfit pieces. Though you can also make them through invention as you level the skill for the outfit from 70 to 99+. So even those are debatable if worth or not. The 1 hour of dxp for 2k tokens is definitely worth it as its limited to once per day as its the system from nics shop. You can only spend 10 hours max durning the whole event for 20k tokens. If youre not going to use all 48 hours over the first weekend of the event than its worth while buying the daily 2k tokens for 1 hour. The token spirit used to spawn once every minute as long as you gained xp after every 60 seconds from the last spawn, now its like one spawn every 5 or 6 minutes. It got nerfed hard this time around. You also dont need the timer active for it to spawn in. Also normal skilling does not reward the tokens directly. Tokens are obtain from using a protean item (4 tokens per item), finish all 5 reps of a training dummy (80 tokens afte the final use on the 5th drop), or from the spirits (200 tokens every 5 minutes or so). So you can technically only use like 1 minute max (depending on loading times) and still end up getting thousands of tokens over the even and still have 47 hours and 59 minutes+ on your paused timer.
For someone that just got 120 mining, I will suggest the golem outfit with urns, crystal axe with perks and core hammer, mining cape and the legendary mining aura, I was getting better xp/h then with the golden mining outfit.
in the beginning of the video you said in order to get dxp tokens you have to have dxp timer active. that is not true you still get dxp tokens while timer is paused

I haven’t been on in like a year and I hava a bunch of proteans and skilling dummies from the years previous so maybe it’s just me but I can buy 40k more proteans with the tokens I’ve earned in the last few days. That seems pretty good so is this an issue for players that came in with no proteans and are getting rammed by the MTX?
I'd say that adding the tokens, proteans and having afk training methods is amazing for only one reason. Rs has so much content and so many skills that it's impossible to enjoy everything. I feel that these were added saying "although you don't fully enjoy the skill, you can still Max it out and feel some sense of achievement", and I appreciate that
The tokens most deff nerfed the hell out of this time around vrs last dxp. I ended last double XP up with 111K tokens left over, after buying all 3 fishing outfits , and a few other random things I got I know for a fact I spent at least 100k tokens , so let's just say 211k tokens last dxp. I still have 40 hours of dxp but for the 8 hours I've already put in , I've not even amassed 5k new tokens. It's ridiculous the difference in tokens this time around. Literally 1/10 what it was.
Still think we need to push back on the dxp token nerf. Since its now a huge push for people to buy keys. Trained 25 hours doing normal skilling. Around 12-13k tokens. 3 hours of protean essence. 10k. Sure if you do daylies and use your free keys. You probaly have a bit of protean items. But instead of nerfing non key users way of obtaining skilling outfits. They should update the activities for obtaining these outfits. Just because they finally gave us a decent roadmap with a lot of good content coming. Does not mean we should let then normalize and push mtx as the new normal.
Vics store actually still exists, it just costs 1 bond every time you want to access it. So basically 120m+ gp per access. Not worth it for most players so its basically removed since no viable way to access it often

Getting the Golden Mining outfit the normal way takes less than an hour. Kind of a waste to get it before some of the other outfits you don't have.

well yeah… golem outfit also has the effect of golden mining suit.
