    We made these on my NOLS semester. I love whipping some up when I'm backpacking and really showing up my friends.

      It's the best when your friends are like, "dude, you're not really gonna make those are you?" Then they see the lid open and that smell of fresh baked goodness fills the air. Love it!

    Have you ever re-seasoned your fry bake? Or tried to restore the non-stick coating?

    • @BackcountryExposure
      @BackcountryExposure  8 месяцев назад

      The fry bake doesn't have a non-stick coating on it. And no, it doesn't "season" like cast iron.

    Bring back Frybake Fridays! Woot Wooohooo! El and I are really enjoying our Frybake now that we have one and its fall. For now on Fall & Winter = Frybakes, and putting dehydrated meals in the pantry for spring.

    These are awesome! We made them on the alumni trip. I really like seeing what kind of gear you use: twiggy cookstove and your folder, and of course, butter. Folks from NOLS always knows how to cook well in the back country.

      @BackcountryExposure  6 лет назад

      scrooba11 butter is a staple! Only NOLS course I’ve taken was the WFR. Would love to do a course. Thanks for watching!

    Looks good. Which Wood stove do you use?

    The only funny thing that gets me whenever I see the frybake is how it is supposed to be revolutionary. I had a backpacker pantry outback oven geez, 15+ years ago and was baking things with it all the time. Being so old it was heavy, but already had a nice "scorch buster" and even had a cool cover that locked in the heat better than a twiggy fire. Not saying the frybake isn't good, in fact I am going to pick one up and use it with my old outback stove parts since it is way lighter than the original pan.

      I think for a fairly light weight option and what it is capable of, it's revolutionary for backpacking. But I see your point.

      Those just add water muffins in the blue boxes are great! Amazing what you can make in the backcountry that isn't difficult at all. Thanks John!
