@@highmilesgarage9131 thanks, we had a storm and water somehow got into the battery compartment, I saw online it happened to a lot of others, my car still starts but the windows were going crazy trying to drive but now it works except for one window.
lol, the seat raised up and moved forward gives a lot of access, you just wasted time on unbolting it. The seat is not the issue it's how it was designed (the German way)
@@highmilesgarage9131 you struggling taking the cover off and trying to pull the battery out was a waste of time and could be avoided with the seat unbolted it’s not German engineering it was your laziness
@@zig-zagwraps9992 you're missing the point here, unbolting the seat doesn't save you time since you have all the access to the battery. The main point here is, why put the battery under the seat and you have to rip off the carpet? there are areas in the rear of the car where you can put the battery. Why do you have to get the main 12v out to replace the small 12v (aux) battery? They could have placed the battery under the hood like my e320 or at least make it accessible upwards instead of sliding outwards which can't be done with the main 12v battery in the way. It's not about laziness here we're talking about, it's about the design..
It takes 15-20 min to remove the battery lol, unbolting the seat would be more hassle because you still have to do the same thing, open the carpet and removing the cover etc. so removing the seat is more work because it’s an added task.
Does the aux battery control the power windows? I have passenger rear stop working but others work fine, any suggestions?
I think the aux is mainly for gear shifter only. In cases where the main battery is bad you can still shift the gear since it's electronic.

Save your self the time and headache and just unbolt the seat
