I'm a newbie on plantains, can you eat the boiled ones like potatoes? As a starchy condiment to protein? How much is one portion? One? Half? Two? Can you put spieces on them?
I tried making the crispy ones in the oven, but didn't turn out super well. Had too little salt among other things.

You can eat them with stews. Like stewed fish, chicken, beef. Anything you would eat rice with. Also with fried eggs Haitian style

You should bring the water to the boil and then simmer for 20 to 25 mins, toping up water if it needs? You really should add a little lime juice in the water, more so if you are leaving skins on.
