This is a fair review. The HK system is underpowered and the compact woofer is enemic at best. It is a governered system that reduces the risk of any warrenty claims. Looking at a Focal system to replace.
We bought an Atlas last week. The Harmon Kardon premium audio is lackluster. This is our 10th VW to own, most with Fender which most of those sounded decent. Oddly not all sounded the same and when I replaced the speakers they were all the same size. On the Atlas the front speakers (only checked those) aren’t the same 6 1/2” with 5 1/4” cone measurement. The cone on these outside the rubber surround to outside measure 6 5/8” so the spacers I bought won’t fit. I didn’t event try. They are no longer 2 ohm dual voice coil so the standard VW plug adapter doesn’t fit. Does anyone know what adapter ring and plug fits? Are they making those yet?
It sounds better than the BMW's 12 speaker Harmon system on the X3. I agree the Atlas system seems a little low on power and the speakers seemed a little bit on the cheap side also.
To anyone wondering if people are just being snobs… the system really does suck for being “premium”. Day 2 of ownership and I’m already looking for options.
About that 6 band EQ. Speaking for myself, I just don't care for them. In fact when it comes to my sound, I prefer just the treble and bass without a mid-range. The problem that I find and have seen over the years is that it's just too difficult to find that best sound and I normally just end up setting them to a fairly standard setting or all in the middle. Sometimes I think that the more simple but with some power from the system and high quality speakers is the best overall answer.
I’m curious to see how the klipsch system in the ram tungsten does! Do you happen to know if y’all will be testing one? I can’t afford one nor do I want one knowing how inconsistent their systems are
I just got the ‘24 Atlas Premium and my bass doesn’t sound like it has any kick even with the sub level maxed. How can I check my sub is working properly?
@@kimblekese We have a 2022 SEL with the Fender system. It's much better than the Harmon Kardon. We decided to skip this year because of the huge downgrade in sound. What was VW thinking?
To be blunt, the sounds system in this premium, $60k vehicle is ultra-crap! At 1 week of ownership, I'm already looking at modification and upgrade options, and I feel that I shouldn't have to do that for a vehicle at this price point.
The atlas sound system is crap i have a 2024 atlas and i been looking at aftermarket sounds already . Also the atlas seems to have a volume limiter built in volume wont get louder after u reach halfway mark
I look forward to hearing your opinion of the new Acura ZDX or MDX B&O system (I'm sure they're exactly the same in both cars). I want to buy an MDX but unless the B&O is better, I'll take an ELS version.

The 12 Speaker in the BMW is the Base HiFi System, the 16 Speaker System is From HK for BMW

A sub and a spare wheel, not bad.

Unfortunately that might just be how it is :/ it's not a very impressive system.
Exactly how it is… it’s complete trash. I’m upgrading the sub to get a more well rounded sound. The low end didn’t show up to the party.
