I don't know what happened, but somehow I missed Acura when recording. They are A tier.
lol I was wondering, that was the first thing you showed
I think porsche Bose sound system in the targa gts is levels and I mean levels ahead of teslas and a slight edge over bmws.
Ex90 still have b&w with 1610 watts
Alfa romeo?
Why? It is shown at @14:44. The logo disappears again at 15:47. 😊
It would be cool if you singled out specific car models with the best sound systems...not putting car brands on tiers.
Agree! I owned a 23 RAV4 with JBL and it was such a trash audio. I am surprised to see that Toyota is above Honda in premium audio ranking. It may sound better in a GH / H / Camry / Corolla, not in RAV4. Comparision should compare the same models and that will make more sense. Ex, CX90 vs. Pilot vs. GH / H etc. My 2016 CRV sounded better than RAV4 with JBL. Pilot with Bose premium speakers are simply amazing, and I agree there are better systems than this, but not definitely to put this under Honda.
Correct. Luxury brands usually have 3 levels of sound options with some pushing $3500 for the upgrade. These luxury ratings don’t really add up in real life.
+1 this, hopefully DM sound sees this!!
Yes and he should focus just on audio quality not saying something like "I don't like this big screen".
i was just about to make the same comment
"$60,000 sound system with a car attached"😂😂 Volvo really is that good at providing great sound systems
too bad it's in a volvo :)
@@JeffDietzphoto ever driven one?
Proud to own one
Best sound system I ever had. A concert in my car. Sad in my Prestige level Audi, though I love my drive.
@@londonbroilburnout9946 Ye and it s shit just like a Toyota. Good price good features for the price you really get a lot but oh boy except for the sound system it drives like ass and the interior looks so dull and cheap. The exterior looks superb tho but still I would only get a volvo if I couldn't afford a BMW or Merc with same features
I just bought a Mazda 3 premium trim and I can vouch that the Bose system sounds beautiful. Its immersive, crisp, and the base doesn't rattle the car.
Mazda Bose systems are def among the best!
2020 CX-5 slaps
Bose is know for its luxurious legacy of sound and audio experience and they have said a few years back that Mazda has been one of their best releases in the automotive industry. Cadillac, Porsche, and others also did good but Mazda was better in terms of clarity and bass. I find it funny tho that for the highest trims of economy brands like Honda, you can get a “Bose” system which in reality is actually not Bose at all😅 it’s like putting 60 speakers in a Mitsubishi Mirage lol
But is it a rough ride? That is why i would be worried about buying a Mazda
@@Hallowsawi have a 2016 mazda non premium and it’s a bit rough. The sound system really is great but the road noise offsets it imo.
Trying out the sound system in a B&O equipped XC90 blew me away, definitely deserves S-tier.
B&W*****
Bermeister systems are just amazing! I got a 2024 GLC with Bermeister 3d system and the sound is just breathtakng. There’s so much customization available to fine-tune the audio to your exact preference, and the sleek design adds a touch of elegance to the interior. Very impressive!
volvos standard sound is surprisingly good, 10 speakers 220 watts. no subwoofer anymore but the woofers make the bass fill all around you still
I’m going to try to visit a Volvo dealer over the holidays and finally head the b&w system.
@@Wasabi9111 Even the stock system is good, but yeah, get your hands on the b&w and you will be in car audio nirvana.
@@Wasabi9111 I did that whilst waiting for a family member to be done talking with someone in Volvo and I saw a v60 with bowers and Wilkins and the bass on max is just beautiful
Not the Harmon one it sounds terrible
I currently drive a 2014 V40 and even the base system in that is great with some great EQ settings.
I LOVE MAZDA I’m so happy they are put in the A tier
Mazda deserve it because of their attention to detail and high quality performance standards
I have a 2016 mazda and the sound system is amazing I just wished the interior had better noise isolation from the outside
As a golf 8 owner with a harman kardon system in it, I can say it’s one of the best audio systems I’ve ever heard. I’m an audio engineer and I can say that it’s certainly up there at least in a low A Tier
I got a 2004 Merc and the Harman Kardon system still rips. They've been top of the game for decades
I would love to hear your feedback one day on the rivian prior meridian vs newer non-meridian audio system. As a non audiophile, my rivian Meridian system is the best audio system I’ve ever had and I truly enjoy listening to it. We were supposed to get a newer rivian but I didn’t find the newer non meridian system to be as good, so we kept the old one.
I respect the painful decision to downgrade Lexus especially when at the end of the day, they’re competing against brands like Mercedes that never disappoint. However, the Toyota one surprised me since it seems like most of your videos have c tiered ratings for most of the mainstream models and trims. I’ve never understood why JBL systems were always so hard to come by and were only ever optional even on some higher trim cars. I find that Honda and even Nissan packages their upgraded systems in a better way. It also seems like on the used market it’s easier to find a better sounding sedan from Honda or Nissan than Toyota for example (granted I’d never look at a base model Honda that’s for sure but like comparing an EX-L or better civic or accord even pre-Bose will deff be better than non JBL Camrys and corollas) Great video as always🤙🏽
I love how mazda is the only non luxury brand in A tier. I drive a 21 Mazda 6 without the bose system and it's the best non premium sound system I have ever had. It also has 9 speakers. Which is unheard of for a base sound system. It's usually 4-6 in most cases.
audi and bmw isnt necessary luxury either
The impending collaboration between Volvo and Bose has me terrified. No Bose system can hold a candle to the Bowers & Wilkins. Similarly, I'm absolutely horrified that Acura's partnership with ELS is going bye bye. I heard they're going to be exclusively with Bang & Olufson. I didn't mind my B&O system when I had my Audi, but it was a little disappointing sometimes. I've heard their quality has been decreasing in recent years as well.
They’re probably still using Bowers and Wilkins for their top level systems. And replacing the mid level Harnon Kardon systems with Bose
I just bought an Integra Type S and I feel that the sound system is somewhat overhyped. I guess because I've always bought Civics in the past and they were F systems. So I just automatically put in aftermarket systems. So I'm basically used to aftermarket systems and comparatively, the ELS Studio 3D is only so so.
Really? Porsche Bose sound system is incredible
@@WednesdayAddams5150 I really hope so too! We have a 2019 V60 with Harman & Kardon and are not too impressed to be honest. Yes the added subwoofer compared to the 2018 (pre facelift) is a nice touch, but speaking of the 2018 V60 Classic with H&K. That system is till this day, the most accurate sound system I've ever heard in a car! After having that car for 3 years, going to the new one with H&K, left us disappointed.
Ps. shoutout to Volvos old Dynaudio systems, tune down the higher mids and you have a superb system👌🏼
@@henkedahlen that’s odd I’ve always heard good things about Volvo h/k systems
Would be great to see your top 10 best car sound systems in premium priced cars and 10 best affordable/used car sound systems
I can confirm the bose on the mazda sounds better than anything i listened in a car till now. And my friend is genuinely amased each time he sets foot in it
Your reviews are awesome! Definitely the best out there. Considering all the advancements in vehicles overall, I feel like audio quality is more important that ever, and your reviews are a major factor in people’s buying decisions. Thank you for making them #dailymotor
I am replacing my 2022 Alpina XB7 with Bowers and Wilkens with a 2025 AMG GLS63 with the upgraded Burmester 3D audio system. I went to a few dealerships and listened to the following systems: the upgrade McIntosh system in the Grand Wagoneer; the upgrade AKG system in the Escalade; and the upgrade Mark Levinson system in the LX570. I personally found that the Burmester 3D was in a different league from the others. The tweeters in the Burmester system in my 2021 911 are amazing, but I don't like the system overall, so I wasn't a fan of the brand in general - I was surprised to be as impressed as I was with the Burmester 3D in the GLS. I also listened to the standard Burmester in the GLS and even that system was amazing. I am wondering if the current GLS Burmester 3D system is different than the last one that you reviewed, because it is stunningly good. It was a major factor in why I ordered the GLS63.
2018 Genesis G80 Lexicon system sounds amazing. It’s like being in the recording studio and has an amazing sound stage and stereo imaging.
I switched from a 19 s60 with B&W to a 22 nx with ML, and spent last two years missing my s60 attached to that B&W every time I listen to something in the car 😢
B&W are top
100% agree with the Volvo rating. I have a V60 with the B&W system and was absolutely shocked at how good it is. 1,400 watts is no joke.
I have to agree. The "base" Burmester on my EQS 580 is superb, easily the best car stereo I have ever had. It's only shortcoming is that it's a little bass shy. The bass is clean and undistorted, but it doesn"t reach the very lowest registers.

I concur on the Integra's system. Can be bass heavy but I love that about it.
My second car when I got out of high school was a 2003 Park Ave Ultra. I had a huge capacitor, extra optima battery, 0G wiring, 2x JL Audio 13w6, component speakers, tweeters, a couple eminence in the 6x9 rear deck...it was stupid loud and clear.
But since then (4 cars later) I've had nothing but stock speakers. This ELS is incredible as far as stock speaker systems. It's plenty loud, plenty boomy, and clear. I'm no audiophile but I've never had a car with better audio out of the box, not even close.
2024 Pearl White Integra Type S.
I have a 2021 Infiniti Q60 and the Bose system is great as you mentioned in this video and the Q60 one. I use wired Android Auto and Amazon Music Unlimited with settings maxed out for highest sound quality and the sound is amazing! I had a 2007 350Z Touring with Bose but this is a solid upgrade. I enjoyed the video, thank you!
I just test drove an X5 with h/k and B&W. I’d probably put the B&W from the x5 and x7 in the S tier. The H/K in the A tier. It’s just night and day difference. EQ needs to be dialed though.
I have a 2016 Volvo xc90. I also have a 2019 Tesla model 3. I always thought that the Tesla sound system was the best, but as I listened more, I realized that the base system in a 2016 Volvo (with 17 speakers) was better. I also recently tested a 2024 Volvo XC40 Harmon Kardon system, which was not only
better than the other Volvo, it also beat out all mercedes, BMWs, Audis, Nissans, Hondas, Toyotas, and Genesis I've tested. Hands down the best, and that wasn't even the full upgraded bowers and Wilkins sustem
The 12-speaker Bose system in my 2024 Mazda CX-30 punches WAY above its class. My previous 2022 CX-5 had the 10 speaker Bose and was A-tier as well. Mazda knows what they're doing and at a great value.
Hey Charlie - have you thought of reviewing older premium audio systems (eg 1st gen Lexus LS mark levsinson, prior Volvo dynaudio, etc) to see how they would compare to modern systems.
I do really wish he would do more older systems. The problem though with older systems is getting lossless audio mediums; especially in systems without AUX in, there's no real good way to play lossless music.
Also, Mark Levinson was not available in the 1st Generation LS - the upgraded system in that would be from Nakamichi. Toyota did not partner with Harman and Mark Levinson until 2001 with the LS430.
It's hard to get access, but maybe as the channel grows I'll consider!
I've heard just one decent stereo in a Hyundai/Kia vehicle, it was the top-spec Ioniq 6 with the Bose system. I listen to $15k worth of gear daily at home (Rega, McIntosh, Vandersteen, Ohm, etc) and the Ioniq 6 Bose audio did not offend. As for Genesis, I tried several models and they refused to play sound from a flash drive (where I keep my audiophile disc rips). The flash drives got insanely hot and would not read. It doesn't matter how great the system is if it won't play my lossless files.
Interesting to hear about the flash drives. I just had the GV80 and it worked fine with WAV and FLAC with a FAT32 drive.
The fender system in the Nissan Frontier sounds very good. Fender in the Volkswagens I've had was good as well
Can you guys get a hold of a 2024 Cadillac XT4 with the AKG? Interested in seeing if it is better than the previous Bose system.
AKG is samsung, not great
Would be so cool to have a video like: Premium car with stock sound system vs cheap car with aftermarket sound system
The Bowers & Wilkins system in the Volvos is chefs kiss. I’m ordering an XC40 soon which only comes with a harman/kardon system as it’s premium, hoping that delivers for the price!
It's very good!
There’s nothing “mid” about Mazda or Jeep imo.. All about preference ofc, but I would move all Chrysler brands and GM up, move Kia and Hyundai down for sure lol, move Ford, Lambo, and VW up, move Toyota and “Genesis” down 1 or 2, move Cadillac, Lincoln, Tesla, and Porsche up, move INFINITI down, and move Mercedes down. Mercedes systems aren’t as crisp and natural as BMW and Audi offerings. Not as impressive.. Bentley and Audi would have to be in the middle of S and A but that’s impossible for a list ig🤷♂️
Just bought a 2024 mazda premium plus and you are right on the Bose system is great but it did need a Borla Exhaust. 😊
Would love for a review of the Harman/Kardon Volvo systems. I have it in my XC90 and I am happy with it, but am still envious of the B&W.
I've had Volvo's with Harmon Kardon and the B&W. The HK sounds really good, enough to put a smile on your face when a banger song comes on, but the B&W is just another level again - Superb.
Just upgraded my BMW 2-Class to a 2025 M440i. The leap in sound quality is kinda breathtaking. I don’t have much to compare with other brands, but not sure how BMW could improve the Harman Kardon surround sound system.
Very happy with how BMW is improving their systems
You put Acura at A tier but as soon as you were talking about the S tiers the Acura symbol magicallly dissapears from the list? Is this a glitch?
Yeah, it got lost in editing.
I changed out the speakers in my recent model Honda CRV LX with Focal coaxials and a head unit with EQ & DSP settings. A tier on the cheap.
My next ride is a Volvo... can't wait!
Please do a video for cars produced in the 2000s and 2010s. A lot of us don’t actually buy new cars so you would be doing your community the biggest possible service! I’d reckon it would be a lot easier to get your hands on used cars than new ones so it’s going to worth a video for sure.
Would love to, but it's actually more difficult to spend quality time in used cars. For new cars, I get to spend a week testing in various conditions with varying tracks. A used car I might get a 30 minute test drive at a dealership or maybe from an owners car. Fine for every now and then, but not easy for regular business, unfortunately. Unless I could get setup with an Orange County used dealership that would let me take cars for a day regularly.
@@DailyMotorSound I understand the difficulties associated with reviewing used cars now. Thanks for taking the time to engage with your community, not many creators do that on a genuine level.
Your D rank and comments about the Stellantis HK system matches my experience with the system in the 2018 Giulia i used to have. It wasn't awful, but it never felt particularly powerful enough or crisp enough to really be wowing. It definitely didn't sound as good as my G37 bose with an upgraded head unit or the HK systems in some other cars I've driven.
Honestly, I love the Bose systems in Hondas. My mom drives a 2024 CR-V Hybrid Sport Touring, best sound system I’ve ever heard.
I agree! But you have to step up to the touring or elite. My 2024 pilot touring has an awesome sound as well. Reason I got it! 😊
That is awesome. Some Bose systems aren’t as good though, my mom tested a 2024 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid and I noticed that the sound system was just mid
clearly you’re not a classical music lover.
@@coukamlung nope.
I just love this. I'm always surprised when I test drive and the associates act so surprised that I will eliminate a car over its audio system. My Acura ELS system has been absolutely incredible, but in my most recent test drives the BMW Harmon Kardon (and upgraded Bowers) and Range Rover Meridian systems top it. The biggest disappointment was Porsch...wow, even with a $7K upgrade its just basic.
I work for Land Rover and I agree the Meridian system is pretty good
Lexus LS500 Mark Levinson Reference System is the best Lexus has to offer, the SUVs simply are ML in name only
I have a 2021 Infiniti q60 Red Sport. It Came equipped with 16 Bose High-performance speakers which never disappoint..The clarity is superb & the bass is bumping. So Bose gets my vote!!!!
That bose system is fantastic.
I absolutely love the driving experience of my 2023 Chevrolet Camaro 2SS 1LE. The audio experience of the Bose branded system, however, leaves a lot to be desired. The now discontinued Camaro is only one vehicle among the many Chevy offerings but finding them in the "D" tier of this list seems appropriate to me.
To accurately rank Lincoln have to review the Revel Ultima system in the MKX/Nautilus or Continental if you can find one.
Sound and Vision had it ranked above Volvo B&W in XC90
No. 2: Lincoln MKX Black Label AWD, $67,020; 19-speaker Revel Ultima Audio System (standard on Black Label or included with $4,400 Luxury Package upgrade)
This 19-speaker system from Harman’s high-end Revel brand made everything sound great. I’d call its overall sonic character open and analytical in the best sense of that word, where you can hear into the music and pluck out instrumental lines and fine textural details but without it ever sounding bright or edgy. It revealed all the musical detail in my audiophile recordings across the entire frequency spectrum, excelling against the competition in the bass region, where it went low and had exceptional dynamic leading-edge impact and decay reproduction on things like the Sheffield Drum Record and orchestral tympani strikes. Mids and highs floated transparently in an absolutely huge soundstage above the dash that was really only rivaled by the Naim and the Range Rover Meridian systems (see below), if at all. In short, the Revel system delivered a classic home audiophile experience on wheels.
I was about to say that.. Lincoln sound is elevated but B&W is hard to beat. Revel Audio is something else though. The dealer cranked it up all the way for us and we got to listen to it at like 80 mph. Was blown away and actually came to tears
Love the video
Could you do one by car model?
This would help us audiophiles a bit more
For example what bmw is s tier?
Or what genesis is c tier?
I’d love to see a tier list of the best by the brand and worst by the brand. It would help audiophiles of both price ranges.
Interesting! Would be a bit tough as I'd have to test every model, but it'd definitely be interesting.
I have a 2012 Avalon with a JBL 12 speaker system an I have to admit I'm pretty satisfied..660 watt Amp with a subwoofer is nice!
Bmw is easily S-Tier. Especialy if Volvo is in there as well. Ive sat in plenty of Models from both companys and its pretty much the same system. If you open the door blinds you will even see the exact same speaker model used in most cases. With an exception to the 7 series wich to me was the best sound system ive ever heard. Better than any volvo or mercedes. I agree that the 1 and 2 series systems can be a bit lackluster for the price. But 3 and 4 series sound great, better than a c-class or volvo s60 to me!
I had the chance to try out the harman/kardon in the new X7 and can confirm the quality is sublime, surely S tier deserving
Couldn’t wait to see where the volvo falls… 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾😮💨😮💨😮💨 that sound is just too beautiful!!
I hope volvo won’t mess up with their bose collab. Drove my uncles v90 with b&w and wow, sounds absolutely incredible. Audi in A tier I respect, but I swear their older bose and b&o sound systems were better than these newer ones, but maybe I am a bit biased 😅.
They will, cost-saving measures will always result in a loss
I agree with this, the older Bose and Bang and Olufsen systems sounded a lot cleaner and more impressive to me - the newer ones I've listed to, including the A5, A6, and A8, have just not impressed me at all. I think Mark Levinson deserves to be above Audi Bang and Olufsen.
i have an Audi Q5 with a B&O system. It’s not a top tier system.
VW's oem stock audio system used to be really really good. Idk what music system they use now but my 2014 Vento 1.6 tdi speakers still do a really good job.
Love my 2020 Volvo S60 with the HK stereo. It sounds so good that I couldn't justify the $3000 upgrade cost for the B&W system.
I’m glad to see Mazda in A tier, even my lower trim non Bose sound system in my 3 hatchback is quite nice
It would be cool if car channels spent time on the audio systems
That’s why I want a Volvo after test driving one with the bowers and Wilkins it is just so hard to describe man like it’s amazing!
The Bowers and Wilkins in my i5 m60 sounds fantastic,it's like being in the front row of a concert
Thanks for the audio reviews!
Love my Mazda CX-9 :)
Was come to tears listening to classical tracks in the Bose center point advanced Mazda system. So loud too.. amazing! Do you have the audiopilot equipped also?
@@christianbryant5617 My one is CX-9 2022 Ukraine top trim, so it's equipped with Mazda Connect 1 media with Bose. For USA it's with Mazda connect 2. My one have limited sound settings, but it still sounds really cool. I have a lot of SQ equipment to install, but also I'm totally fine with how it sounds now. Audio is so cool that it's absolutely enough for me. I like go well it's balanced. I comparing to my HTC U12plus => MacBook Pro 2019 16" => CX-9 and despite it have similar sound presentation I love it's as the best from what I experienced as of now.
I do agree the 16 speaker Bose Performance series in the Infiniti Q50 and other models is incredible.... has crazy bass and super crisp highs with zero distortion not to mention beautiful stainless steel speaker grill covers...best system I've heard
Can't wait for you to review the Polestar 3 B&W 25 speaker setup. One of the main reasons I'm getting the car.
Silly question and I know you probably won't be able to answer it until the car is released but what's the best way and app to enjoy some high quality music. Should I just download the uncompressed files to a thumb drive or will the slow data rate of the drive just make it sound worse?
Thanks in advance man!
Uncompressed on USB drive is always your best bet, but if I remember correctly, the last Polestar 2 I had wouldn't let me play from my USB stick. If they fix this in the 3, that's your best bet. But they might have an Amazon Music HD app in the car that you could use for pretty high quality music as well. Enjoy!
@@DailyMotorSound so is the Amazon app better than Spotify, Tidal, or Apple Music? I know Spotify is probably at the bottom but how does Amazon Music HD compare to the rest?
Amazon Music HD supports the highest bitrate, then Tidal, then Apple Music and Spotify. Tidal and Amazon Music HD will be virtually identical, but technically Tidal uses their own format that is slightly less high def, from what I understand.@@pedrorosado3622
Have you tried Krell system in the first gen Kona or any other car?
The HK in the Subaru Outback is pretty decent. I would move Subaru up a tier and Toyota down a tier. I can't imagine Toyota being on the same level as Genesis. By the way, Tesla has a 17-speaker system in the newest Model 3 that is supposedly fantastic. And I have to give Honda credit for the system they have in the Black Edition Ridgeline and also for making all their interiors quieter lately.
Acura MDX Type S has 26 speaker with over 1000w. Please do a review of it.

Now it has 31 speakers B&O!
@@GBraidi78 ruclips.net/video/ZhpL1ycqJxw/видео.html
Planning to buy the new KIA K4 GT Model, which includes 12 Harmon/Kardon speakers. We will see how it goes
The 14 speaker B&O in my Super Duty is the best factory sound system I've ever heard, solid A tier, almost S.
Also, my VW Arteon has a 12 speaker Harmon Kardon that sounds excellent, especially in surround sound. That system is solid B, almost A.
The Alpine sound system in my wife's Jeep Wrangler is one of the best factory sound systems I've heard. It's impressive for an offroad vehicle with a fiberglass top. Also, the base system in my son's 2019 Ford Ranger is more than noticably better than the Bose system in my 2014 GMC Sierra.
Did you have a chance to review base sound system for 7 series? Where would you rate it?
I love the bass in the Ram 3500 Alpine system
I'm confused. Why did you rate the Model Y as an A tier and then downgrade it? Nothing has changed with their sound system.
For $100k in the GM, it better come with composer John Williams and a symphony orchestra in the back seat 😊
I bought my 2023 s60 ultimate mostly because of the sound system !
Do all new Mazdas come with a-tier sound? I need a new daily driver. Thanks!
If you’re considering sound systems as a main factor, look at pre owned Volvos- they are inexpensive if you go 3-5 years old, I just bought a 2019 S60 T6 R design for a daily and it has the Harman/Kardon audio that absolutely slaps. They can be had in the low $20’s and they’re still in the current generation of tech and style.
@@dariusmarchand4514 I appreciate the input! I’ll take your advice.
Base models don’t. Mazda 2 doesn’t have any high quality audio, including the latest model. The Mazda 3 is the same but starting from the Grand Touring system is awesome. I haven’t seen the other models but I’m guessing they will be the same
@@dariusmarchand4514 The HK is really good for sure, but if you can find one of those cars with the B&W, get it - the B&W is mind blowing.
Mazda's Bose system is really good for the price of their vehicles.
My integras ELS 3D is amazing, coming from Mazda Bose system, both super good, integra definitely more immersive
Well we are definitely pleased with the sound system in the 2025 Mazda cx90.
I feel like tesla should be higher. The new model 3 has dual pane glass, the infotainment is really great in my opinion, and the 14 speaker - 2 subwoofer setup sounds great to me. Maybe I am biased as i just picked a tesla m3p up last week.
I tested a Mazda CX5, the Bose System it's just great , sound bass and a lot of power, and it's a great car to drive lots of torque and power in the Turbo option. I may buy a 2020 CX5 for the Sound system and fun car to drive.
I recently got into a Mazda 3 Grand Touring and its Bose system was awesome as well.
I drove a Porsche Cayenne with the Bose system - totally underwhelming. I've driven 3 different Mercedes Benz's (e-classes and GLE450) with the Burmester sound systems. They all sounded amazing to me. If I get a Porsche with a Burmester, am I going to be disappointed or will it compare with the Mercedes?
you havent heard the eu outlanders yamaha sound system its crazy good
The system in my 2017 Audi Q7, Bang & Olufsen is pretty amazing.
I know this list is geared toward modern cars, but I’ve got a 2001 BMW 330ci with the HK system, and I am surprised at how well a 20+ year old stock system in a lower level car of theirs performs. Mine doesn’t have the speed sensitive volume, but some do and I think that’s an even better feature for a car of its age.
Same with the 2008 civic. Litterally amazing
I asked this on one of your other videos, but maybe this is a better place to ask it: Where does the (BMW 760i) B&W premium (18-speaker system) fall in comparison to the Diamond and others? Always enjoy your vids! And, Thanks in advance :)
I don't believe I've tested it, but it's probably also very good. At least A tier
@DailyMotorSound Greatly appreciate your time and feedback! This is the one I went with. Just didn't feel the "upgrade" was that much better, nor worth the $4800 upcharge for what I listen to.
My 2012 Murano has a Bose system with a huge bass in the back. It's my favorite part of the car and finding a newer vehicle that can vibrate my windows has been difficult.
Had a 2011 and I can confirm. That system was the best part about that unfortunately ugly car.
I have a 2012 Maxima. Those systems are Infiniti level in those days.
Road trip approved sound for sure.
Thanks for putting this together. Audio is often one thing most ppl dont review while its important to me!!
I see infiniti in A tier and nissan is way below. Both use Bose audio systems. Do you see them have different quality of Bose audio in nissan vs infiniti?
Also, I have a choice between Pathfinder platinum (upgraded bose) vs infiniti qx60 (base infiniti audio system). Which one is better in your opinion?
Agree with the A Tier - The Harmon Kardon sound system in the Volvo is great.
I like your video's I am just curious how toyota/lexus is B tier, I work at an car stereo shop and I give Honda, Toyota/Lexus F tier. They are the most common cars to come in and have speakers replaced. JBL makes amazing home speakers but a really sad car speakers. How did you determine those? One set of my Focal tweeters weigh more than all the speakers combined in a toyota or honda system, they are cheap Malaysian plastic.
Nah, B&O premium sound system in new rs4 or older in s3 are mind blowing sound systems, I’ve been listening to them for long time and I’ve never heard anything like this before. For me definitely the best out there.
Im intested in maybe getting an s3, good sound system is a mega plus. What year / model s3's are you referring to?
@@cormax97 I've got 2017 s3 8V, RS4 B9, RS3 8.5Y soon (been driving 2023 RS3 8Y) and I can tell you that B&O in 2017 s3 is more powerful than in new RS4 B9. I don't know what year s3 are you thinking about but I'll tell you this, 2023 RS3 8y B&O is really good but it is worse than 2017 B&O. If we talk about 2025 face lifted S3 there is Sonos sound system and I don't know how does it sound. In general B&O is the best out of all STOCK premium sound systems, the older B&O's were more powerful and kinda better.
@dmsound when you reviewed gv60 Genesis a while ago you rated it A tier and close to S tier. Did the newer year gv60 model regress in sound quality?
Haven't tested a GV60 since then, so not sure. But I will be testing an updated GV80 soon, that will be interesting
I've listen to the AKG system and the Mercedes and compared to my system in my 2003 CTS if you rank mine S your S would be E at most, but my system does have $7,500 in equipment alone not including wiring a second AGM battery and a HO 320Amp alternator as the amps can draw 230A by themselves, and professionaly tuned DSP, just my front 6 speakers, the front stage Focal's ES KX3E's are $2,300 and sound absolutely amazing and as far as bass goes the Rockford Fosgate 2 T1D212 in a sealed box rear firing will literally make your hair move, just give me easy access to my phone with USB connection and I'll put my own system in any of these vehicles, to compete with my subs you need to be willing to give up around 3cuft of trunk space
Is the 2024 Honda civic sedan bose system good? Better than Mazda 3?
I have a 2024 Colorado ZR2 with the bose system. I don't know what the RMS on the bose amp is off the top of my head, but I believe it was around 300. Stock it was very lackluster bass wise, they used 6x9s in the door with 4 tweeters and a center channel in the front. The 6x9s aren't two ways, they are just straight up woofer designs to make up for the lack of subwoofer. The tweeters and center channel do an exceptional job for highs, and the 6x9s don't provide real heavy bass but do a great job for mids. They do provide exceptional bass for a car without a subwoofer, but even a well designed location for a 10 inch from the factory would be an upgrade. Hell even an 8 inch ported and tucked under a seat or center console or dash would be an upgrade.
First thing I did as soon as I got the truck was put a prefab box under the seat and wire up 2 10 inch subs running a combined 1200 watt RMS. Because of the tight space it's about 1.5 cubic feet total and it's sealed, but it matches the subs well as they are hybrid semi shallow mounts. Probably one of the most balanced sound systems I have ever had, custom or not. It's not going to win DB comp awards, but I care more about sound quality than hearing loss. Still shakes the windows and gives you that chest feel when it's cranked though.
I really wish truck manufacturers would let you option for subs under the rear seat from the factory. I'm sure that premium system would sell like hotcakes. Especially when you have dedicated drivers for each range of music, door woofers for mids, tweeters for highs, and the subs for the lows.
Genesis has 12 speaker sound Lexicon system good or hyundai Sonata 2019 infinity sound system?
Volvo is the best, hands down. I own a Model Y before anyone say Im biased
Please do a test in the new gv80 2025. It arived to us in last May already. Love your reviews. Im in volvo s60 and 530e 2020 bmw, very good sound but hoping that gv80 will dilverd with new B&o
Will ask for one!
Bowers and Wilkins in a Jaguar XF and Volvo XC90,and Bang and Olufsen in multiple cars including Mercedes GLE63 are the best I've ever heard.Made me buy my B&W PX7 headphones
The Tesla premium sound system is the best I’ve ever heard second to only Volvo. BMW and Audi being passable, Mazda and Toyota being absolutely horrendous. So many of the brands in the A and B tier essentially just toss the 4 watt rear firing speakers from flatscreens in the door and call it good.
I’ve been in ford raptors with pretty decent factory sound. This list is absolutely all over the place.
I own a 1998 Volvo V70, and the audio quality is just so impressive especially for a '98. It's comparable to a 2012 Acura TSX I owned, and is better than my friend's 2020 Toyota Corolla. I guess it's just something they've always done right.
