  • Today we'll have a go at making French bread in the bread maker.
French bread uses slightly less ingredients than a basic bread resulting in a crustier crust with a lighter middle.

I've never seen a bread machine recipe that doesn't put the yeast last. Normally you would add the ingredients in the order listed. I measure out my dry ingredients except the yeast and keep in a sealed airtight food container for quick use. And it's easier to take your flour from the bag with a spoon, much neater. Another tip, when the dough has finished kneading you can take it out and remove the mixing paddle then return it to rise. Now no hole in your bread!

I love mine! I'm hoping to get into a routine of putting the ingredients in and setting the timer before I go to bed. Hopefully then I'll wake up to fresh bread, plus a wonderful smelling house!

Hello Maria I'm still looking back at your cooking vids, I'm so nosey😜 is it alright to say but I noticed your instructions say to put the yeast in first, I'm very surprised at that coz it usually goes in last. I've got the MR fast bake and yeast in last. I did a little check and the on line instruction Manuel for your model says yeast last too, how odd but of course if ya bread is coming out ok then that's alright. I halve my salt in my bread bcoz it does bring out the flavour, shouldn't taste the salt, and I add honey instead of sugar, I know it's still a sugar but it seams to give a lovely taste even though it doesn't taste of honey, weird that ent it? Ya bread looked lovely Maria.😃👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

My recipe pamphlet that came with it, lists the yeast first so I just follow it. I've never thought to look at my cookbooks because I use the bread maker now (I'm lazy 😂) It turns out OK so I'm not too worried. I suppose it just gets mixed together as it starts mixing as soon as I switch it on. I might put it in last next time, I'm curious now! Lol. Honey sounds nice in bread. Thank you for watching my vlogs, I appreciate your support 😊

    Hi
Just found your channel and am enjoying it very much so far. I make all my bread don’t buy any. I have tried many recipes over the years.
I have added and omitted many times. Just a suggestion from experience.use only half the salt called for.your bread will be much better.

      Thank you.
Many years ago I made our daily bread and I'm hoping to do that again. It's certainly a lot cheaper to make your own.
I love the idea of throwing anything in and see what happens.
I've started leaving the salt out, it tastes much better without it. All I could taste was the salt before I omitted it!
      Thank you for watching.

Looks lovely! I am interested to see the bottom. I stopped using my bread maker as it was such a faff to get it out the tin. The paddles left such a hole it was no good for sandwiches.

Next time I do one I'll show me getting it out of the tin and the bottom.
It is quite a big paddle, but I've not come across a hole when cutting it. I do take it out of the tin and remove the paddle whilst it's red hot, whether this helps close the hole or not I don't know. You've got me thinking about this now!

Maria dont need sugar or just half teaspoon if you want salt yes as it brings out flavour just reduce amount

Sugar is definitely something I want to reduce in everything I make. I find recipes seem to say an amount which doesn't require as much as they state. Thank you for watching 😊

Hi Christine. I just follow the recipe booklet that came with my machine, other than the dried tomato loaf it states yeast first ( second with the tomato one). I don't think it really matters what order it goes in as it all gets mixed together. I just follow the recipe in order so as not to forget to put anything in. Like you say, it all comes out good and that's the main thing. Thank you for watching through my older videos. I don't think your nosey, It's very supportive, thank you 😊
