Can we talk about the fact that you create a character and they ACTUALLY trade spoken dialogue with the cast?
underrated w
To think that they would risk violating the sacred lore of Bakugan for this game.
Mass effect
This was definitely one of the best parts of the game. Not gonna lie, I really don't like the 'silent protagonist' thing. I know why they do it, but it just leaves us with a dude/girl with no personality and ends up making them usually the most boring character in the game.
A very underrated feature.
Never would I ever have thought that doto would be playing such a legendary game as this, I still have this for my wii and love to play it from time to time.
Yooo literally same here even on the wii as well.

I miss this game so much I forgot how fun it was
The ABSOLUTELY OP combo in this game is to pick the weakest monster (the snake one) and throw it on a card that switches the attack power of the bagukan, you LITERALLY can't lose if you do this.
Power rarely matters in this game. If you win the minigame you just win regardless
@@blackwingdragonmasta yea but like if you have the attack advantage than you don't need to be trying your absolute best on things like the sticks or button press
@@blackwingdragonmastayes, but if opponent (or you) has too much g power you(or opponent) lost in any cases.
This was one of my main strats and I always kept Serpenoid with Monarus, Siege, and Leonidas on my main team because of it. It's especially powerful if you throw it out first since the opponent always starts with their strongest + the character bonus card. Then you pull out the swap ability card after they finish powering up and watch their dreams be zapped away with their power!

This game is still the best Bakugan game to this day.
Leonidas is still a fan favorite bakugan even though he never officially shows up in any canon story. And every time Leonidas shows up in an announcement, it's always a hype moment.
If I remember correctly the ds version came with a Leo Bakugan
@@blackwingdragonmasta Nope
Unfortunately....
Leonidas never got a toy based off the game design
Atleast we got a leonidas in the reboot
This leonidas is the best in the original game. To bad he is weak as hell in the reboot game champions of Vestrioa. Despite being a golden Bakugan which is suppose to be the strongest Bakugan he is weak to all types of Bakugan expect gold, but he is the only golden Bakugan in the game who designed this!?

I desperately want a remake of this game. Definitely the best of the "Insert your own Fanfiction OC and watch them beat everyone!" era of games. Plus Leonidas is just a killer fuckin' Bakugan. Imagine this game getting a remake, and then getting sequels based on the additional seasons of the anime. I just think it'd be awesome to see all this in HD.
For real, Leonidas has to be one of the best Partner characters out of all Pokemon-esque media i've seen (by that i mean the dynamic of a young boy/girl with an animal/monster that accompanies them) because he's just built different, get that friendship crap outta here, we gotta rock the shit out of those people and everything will be fine, bro was literally born and chose violence seconds later

i had it on xbox 360, first i went ventus as a shun/ninja fanboy, but then i hit a wall and couldn't progress, so i started over as terra and clapped cheeks with leonidas. don't remember that much of the story or anything, other than how it tried to emulate the tv show in story beats and feel. There’s something hilarious about doto being semi family friendly when playing DBFZ but the moment he starts playing bakugan he tells dan to fuck off every time he goes onscreen
this was one of my favorite games growing up. I remember playing it with my friend next door all the time. I even played it so much I bought everything possible, upgraded every bakugan to the max, and beat it multiple times while buying and upgrading everything completely. Now I want to play it again for old times sake
Same man Miss this game
The story in this game was actually pretty solid for Bakugan. I completely finished this game as a kid, maxed out my rankings on the leaderboard to 999999 and maxed out every Bakugan. This game on the DS as a kid was so much fun so its nice to see it being run back. If this game had a multiplayer function for 2 or 4 players it would've actually been a fun little party game.
It IS 4 players, you can each pick from any character you've unlocked, with their current deck story wise
Only ONE person can pick each character, including your character, which can have an utterly broken deck
For instance, get a fire serpenoid, unupgraded, and use the gate card that swaps g power, later in the game this winds up with your opponent having only 150+ g power and you from 800-1200 usually, so you always win no matter what
It does have a multiplayer function, you can see the option in the same screen where you pick story.
@@DeitySkullKid I meant moreso a wireless local/internet based multiplayer. I played the DS version. It's not big enough to share with other ppl.

I don't know shit about Bakugan so you can imagine this was extremely entertaining to watch.
Bro, this used to be one of my favourites on the PS2 . my cousin and I used to duel eachother all the time 😂
Starting as Darkus is basically easy mode for the rest of the entire game. It also feels like the canon type for Leonidas
If Doto picked Darkus, I would've shit my pants to see Doto's reaction to how hard Runo counters Darkus players at the Haos Tournament 😂😂
Darkus is fine but god damn the last arena before final battles on haos arena are hard af😂
I mean tbf everyone gets hard counter at some point, it's just Darkus has the hardest story tournament to get countered in.
It's a toss up because being darkus means the haos tournament is tougher and you cannot treat leonidas as an ace in that tournament, but if you go haos? The final battle is the hardest fight by a landslide. Took me a good few tries on my 1st ever playthrough.
@@silverfortune2205 I probably did a couple of tries for the Darkus fight as Haos (I was replaying it to see the other Leonidases) and I did do only one retry against Runo in the Haos trounament, but I think I was much more experienced when I was Darkus (older as well) than Haos so I can't really confirm your suspicions. Either way, I think objectively Runo Final Battle as Darkus is harder than Marduk's final fight as Haos, but there are factors that will skew towards Marduk that I will mention in a moment.
Runo: Her ability cards are the 150 G Power haos card (not too surprising), then Blade Tigerra that adds 400 G Power, which I will go further into the Bakugan later. Then a DARKUS ONLY card that adds 200 G Power (Masquarade in the Wii does have the Water only card, as well as Shun having the Fire only card, so there are some counters to some elements in here as well, but Darkus is weaker in this tournament so it's even more devastating). This leaves with a stat boost pool of 350 for her weaker Bakugan and 750 maximum for Blade Tigera. I know of course that she won't use all of her cards in one basket, but she has a good amount of cards that'll get even score, and having an even score in this tourney is very unwise as she can catch up very quickly in a battle. Then her Bakugan are not normally a problem until you realize that you don't have Omega Leonidas yet and Runo has her evolution. That means you don't have a 400 G Power card like Runo's as well as her regular G Power will be even to yours. Her other Bakugan isn't nearly as worrying if you know what you're doing, but that doesn't mean you can start a battle safely on her gate cards. Then there's the fact that it's the hardest stage in the game. Slippery floors, two roars (usually for me), but nonetheless it's not an easy stage. It's also not easy to get the battle items without dying as well, so you can't just prepare for the Runo fight. There is also a comparison that I'll add here: you can cheese Marduk with the Power Drain gate card, but you can't cheese Runo that well.
However, there is one saving grace: the AI sucks at landing. At least in the Wii version, but all of that pressure is alleviated when you see Runo miss 4 times in a row. In a vacuum she's so difficult, but in practice it's like a hammer pressing on a nail, and then SLAMS that nail when they are ready to set it down. Very strange I know, but if you land your shots and Runo does not, it can be so easy. You also can just... land on your gate cards only and getting your boosts to not worry about what Runo has. Aka, playing chicken. To my knowledge these are the only arguments against Runo that I can think of.
Marduk: He's a unique one in this fight because his AI will ALWAYS stand on the gate card, so unlike Runo who misses often Marduk misses none. There is also only one gate card available on the at a time, and only one Bakugan per person, so if you miss your shots twice, Marduk will get a free gate card (the thing that makes you win if you have three of). Not like you would miss your shot anyway, but that could happen. You are also forced to test your skills around the course in order to have a shot at victory if your Haos because I think Marduk's Bakugan is at 750 G Power, which is a lot. What I always got with my Leonidas is 575, which is still quite a ways away with Marduk, so you will have to strive to get over him in order to have a shot at victory. There would be no hope for you if he sends out the Signature gate card which boosts them by 400. That would be bad RNG if it happens. This is all without mentioning the loadout that is 700 G Power maximum boost from his ability cards. One of them is conditional in that it can only be activated during the enemies gate card, but knowing the back and forth nature of the fight it can be activated at the minimum of 2 times. That's pretty often, so that part doesn't matter. There is one last thing that I'll mention the negatives later: if the battle goes as intended, Marduk can gain 80 G Power when he lands if you're already on the card. So even if you were trying to prepare beforehand, Marduk will get the little poke before disaster by becoming stronger on landing.
Those are all of the worries I can think of. Now the fight is simpler than every past fight in the game, but there are many things you can do to prepare against Marduk. For starters, the battle items are a huge boost, especially that G power swap item. That's one thing I noticed I can do more consistently unlike Runo. Then there's the intended method of travelling the Hydranoid's neck and back. Then there's a cheesy card in the game that works 100% of the time against Marduk: Power Drain. All you have to do is set it as your first gate card, then miss. Since Marduk never misses, he'll always land first, thereby reducing HALF of its G Power. It's also heads up against the draining of 80 G Power I mentioned. With this method, Marduk will guaruntee one ability card use. Since your Haos, if Marduk chooses the 400 G power card, you can use 1 card or spam all 3 cards so that Marduk will waste all of his, and boom. Free gate card and all Marduk's ability cards wasted. There's also an interesting balance of how the battle works. You send your gate card first, then Marduk, then you. If you beat Marduk three times in a row, you win. Which means you can send out the Omega Leonidas for the 3rd battle for the clean sweep. The 2nd battle is what's hard. For most of my playthroughs, Marduk does not send the Signature gate card for the 2nd battle. It's either Mega Warrior or the Silver gate card. Mega Warrior is actually a help to you since you won the first battle, so that will help you sweep Marduk. The other two are favored towards him, but the silver one is what I see the most, which is not too major of a dynamic. For Haos sure, but if you went on two Hyrdanoids and got the G Powers from them, you should always win. It's not easy to do so, but I mean it is a victory. There's so many ways to prepare against Marduk that you can't against Runo.
Well that's my long essay on how Runo's fight in Haos tournament is harder than Marduk's Final Fight when you have a team of a disadvantage attribute. Is there anything I missed? I'll be happy to here them.
You definitely have to keep going with this game, it’s definitely made for a younger audience with the easy mini games but they’re pretty challenging late game as far as I can remember back then.

This game was the pinnacle of my childhood.
I had 3 friends that were brothers, we would all collect and battle each other.
I'd go to their house every weekend and all the time in the summer.
Avery (the oldest) was Pyrus, Cole (2nd oldest) was Ventus, Hayden (the youngest) was Aquos.
And I was Darkus. We would even 2v2 or Free For All on the Wii.
I would play the game nonstop and train at my house on my own Wii and figure out a way to obtain the most g-power before battle.
And ways I would shake my remote in a shaking battle. G power would spike tremendously in battle the way I did it.
Playing the Wii version would've been so meta to use if Online play was a thing!
Also I found a way to obliterate them in Bakugan: Defenders of the Core. Elfin or evolved Elfin was beyond meta to use.
You could easily side by side sprint jump into projectile that has cracked accuracy and damage constantly. And they'd be done for lol.
After showing them, I'd watch them fight and argue over winning with a cheap and cracked character.
I thank them to this day for giving me the best childhood. They even told me that I was the highlight of their childhood too.

Good music? No great music. Good story? Eh, it was good for an in-universe story but it's not "OMG WHY ISN'T THIS IN THE SHOW 😱" type of story. Good customization? You are correct. Idk how most other OC creators work but this is probably the gold standard for kid games customization. Let's see if Pokemon Scarlet/Violet would be dope enough for that drip early on (Sword and Shield for example has pretty good customization, but like its predecessors you have to get it later on in the game). In conclusion, is this a perfect game? I don't think it's nothing short of great, but perfect is a bit too much. Many other titles deserve that name such as Phantom Dust.

Maaaaan you unlocked a buried memory that I loved, I was super young playing this on the DS for god knows how long. Game was goated 🐐
Doto out here playing the rare Bakugan BlackFace Edition
YOOO I LOVED THIS GAME AS A KID. Thank you dotothy for awakening old memories
I will say that the Legacy series had some amazing games and and the toys were great.
Sad to see that it wasn't as good during S3-S4 though. Which is why I'm glad the reboot has surpassed the Legacy in terms of the toy sales and their physical game.
Sure the show isn't as good as the old one for many fans but it did allow bakugan to come back. And if it continues being supported, who knows if Spin Master and Sega Toys work their problems out, they can bring back stuff from the Legacy series like how they brought back other stuff. Plus they could probably focus on the TCG aspect of the game again while also focusing on the toys themselves.
This is awesome. Glad to see your channel growing. It’s stuff like this that sets you apart.
Doto: I miss playing bakugan as a kid on the playground
Also Doto: WHAT IS THIS FOR BABIES?!?!
Yes doto, yes it is lol. Great vid as always
To anybody questioning why the characters look weird:
Pc ps2 emulators for some reason glitch out and make the shading on the characters in this game glitched, in the normal ps2 and wii they look completely normal, as far as i know there is no fix to this
I was able to play without this, though I can't recall if another issue came up. But I know it definitely can be fixed.
for sure if he keeps playing this he should try to fix this bug lmao
The Tier 3 sub line had me laughing so much I started choking.
This game on the wii WAS my childhood,I spent soooo long playing it and I'm glad that this game is finally getting some recognition as a hidden gem
Just to let you know Doto, the Battle animations for certain Bakugan change after using Certain Ability cards, like with Leonidas’s Alpha Blaster.
Hope this turns into a series so you can play this game at higher levels.
The duel links music fits it surprisingly well
OMG DOTO PLEASE FINISH THIS GAME, MY CHILDHOOD I CANT BREATHE-
Edit: I have calmed down and am quite pleased with the game choice for today's video.
This game MADE my childhood so happy to see you playing it!
Well, the Battle Brawler were the ones that created the Bakugan game so it makes sense if they are famous
The face textures have me dying of laughter. Video perfection
I was gonna ask if we were ignoring the "blatant blackface" as a joke lmao, but I don't know anything about Bakugan
I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed this game! You keep hitting the right spots for these games Doto lol
This was such a great game back when it was out. I constantly replayed it. The lvls get cooler with each new one unlocked, the story was unique and genuinely was fun to play.
Would love to see more videos on this with your commentary it's great as always
Bakugan was (albeit small) a decent part of my childhood. I remember going to toys r us when that was still a thing for a tournament and I ended up getting third (which isn’t too bad when I consider I was like 11 at the time) such a fun time. What a blast from the past!
Custom character, personalized decks, fully voice protagonist? This game was the best!
yeah super underrated, will love to see a continuation or rmake of this game
This game was my jam growing up, as a kid I never realized how HARD the ost goes too
This video unlocked a core memory and now I've started rewatching the anime on a whim. Shout-out Alice for being like my first anime crush when I was a 7 year old
It was always Alice
@@SadikiStGeorgeangemon44 always has been 🧎🏽♂️🔫
Late finding this video but I played this game a fuck ton on my PS2 when I had it. I wasn't the best at the game, but I still enjoyed the hell out of it.
This game is actually so good , played it all the way through and it was genuinely fun
I remember playing this specific game so much. This video unlocked so many memories for me of having collected a bunch of them
I want to see some more of this, this is one of my favorite games, and you are supper funny
I remember this game from my childhood! Doto pls keep going, this game has a funny story and I would love to see you go through it!
This game is legit awesome. Glad to see Doto has excellent taste.
Can we get this as a series I missed this game so much and watching you suck at throwing kills me 😂
I used to actually love this game man. Especially how you get to make your own brawler! It was such a sick thing choosing all the custom options.
I loved the show as a child, that being said I have not a single memory from that show and didn't have anyone to try and understand the toys with lmao.
you just unlocked a memory i had this game on ds or something 😂
When using a green ability specifically for a certain bakugan their attack animation changes also the color of gate card dictates what kind of minigame is played to power up
Holy hell, seeing this game again. I played the hell out of this game on my DS as a child. So fun to see it again.
this such a W video this why you gotta love dotodoya what other youtuber making a bakugan video like this
