I can also see why Rock finds it hard to let go as well, he's like a 3rd gen wrestler and it's something that always been a part of his life. Retirement isn't easy for someone who has literally done the same job for decades and who doesn't know any other lifestyle.

I met Dave when I was 17 the morning after WM 23 in the airport as we were leaving Detroit. He signed an autograph from some memorabilia that I had purchased at the show and asked what my favorite match was and we both went on our way. He was very nice and I still have that autograph 👍

There was always something decidedly "final" about Batista's attitude towards coming back to wrestling. And I support that. I hate when wrestlers retire 30 times and always come back for that "one last time". I'm happy when these guys get other careers and ride off into the sunset. Isn't that the ultimate goal for any performer?
Not so easy if you're the Undertaker or The Rock and its literally the only life you have ever known. Taker had 30 plus years in the ring and Rock is a 3rd generation wrestler, all they know is wrestling so I don't think they should be judged harshly for having trouble letting go of the only life they know.
The Rock hadn't wrestled for 11 years before last wrestlemaina , and for seven 7 before his previous return in 2011. His full time wrestling career is only 7 years at max and left for hollywood at 31. It's not like he thrives to wrestle unlike The Undertaker, it's just fun and entertainment thing for him. I think this year's wrestlemania will be his last wrestlemania. Also, wrestling isn't the only life for The Rock, he tried in football before wrestling, and came after he failed, and as soon as he became a huge star and the hollywood made an offer he started to disappear from wrestling ring.
In Wrestling, its not about who wins and who loses, its always about the POP, the way you captivate an audience and tell a compelling story, its just like movie making- you want Audience engagement.
