It's interesting that Daniel said one thing the judges kinda look for is whether the shoe could actually be worn...however his winning shoe a few years ago was completely unwearable and that was one reason it stood out from all the others so much.
I don't believe this is actually correct... the fact that the shoes are "wearable" isn't a criteria. However, in judging aesthetics, I think that some of the judges look for "classic" proportions, which would make the shoe "appear" as though it was wearable.
Exciting to see the awesome craftsmanship that goes into shoemaking I have plans to attend the event when it returns to the United States thanks for sharing!

Amazing work by all contestants. I saw the videos made on the creation of the winning shoe and I'm pleasantly surprised Kirby and Daniel went over the characteristics of it.
Lovely video. I was there... it really is a fantastic competition and every every year I make new great friends there. If you have any chance, try to be there next year.
Those horseshoe heels terrify me. I can see myself stepping on something wrong and going flying to the curb. But I love the "shoegazing" thing, that's hilarious.
Brilliant! Absolutely Brilliant! Every Kirby video is super and this is instantly one of my favorites! I hope this event becomes an annual event. Are there any other World Championships coming to the channel? (fingers crossed) Thank you so much for sharing and sponsoring!
I wonder if anyone has tried implementing wider toe boxes, such that the big toe is able to splay outward for better foot mechanics. Dress shoes are typically narrow that forces the big toe inward. I really believe the future of footwear is to make feet healthy again. Would be nice to see dress shoes move to this type of design. What do you all think?
For me personally i prefer the narrow shoes with narrow tips. It's more elegant and because i have narrow feet they fit perfectly with no pain and inward moving of my big toe.

It was literally why they adjusted the rules to ensure the entries look wearable.

That's exactly what I ment.

@@dwegan I like the artistic look. I’d say let them go crazy

Such a nice video. You should make a documentary about the resurgence of this contest prize. Cheers.

This was actually the fifth year, I believe! Search for older videos!
I like wearing Man shoes it's so wonderful the design, for long walks
OMG, that shoe with the ornate bit is from Sapatero Manila, a Filipino bespoke shoemaking brand... Very wonderful
I will never forget the shoe Daniel Wegan created.
Yeah, that was a show-stopper.
The finer things
And the finest things

Not being funny but can’t Kirby or someone else do the presenting of this award. This guy has the charisma of a dustbin.
Jesper is great. He knows all the details that I would probably screw up!
Another idea is for each of you to switch who presents each given year.
@@elevatedsupernova or present it together so it just flows a bit better. It was just a bit awkward to watch.
We're supposed to focus on the craftsmen and women, not the announcer.
Finally....!??
I dont like how the announcer is describing the shoes... Doenst do them justice
shoes
Men's Footwear my boy!
What were the criteria for this, I dont think some of the shoes were better then others... Its weird
you talk to much
Too not to....
