So very cool to see a father and son bonding with something they both are clearly so passionate about! Loved the back story the young man gave on the genesis of the DALMORE stag emblem
Recently opened my 12 year old Dalmore and found it simply wonderful!
I am Luening, Horst Luening and this is my son Luening, Ben Luening. That's how he should have done the introduction.
I just found you about a week ago. I am definitely a subscriber! A new subscriber I purchased a bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue! I also purchased the Dalmore!! I was pretty hyped up about it you pretty much explained it the way it taste I really love tasting it with you because I have my bottle you have your bottle over there, as far as I'm concerned you're right on with your palate because my whiskey tastes exactly the way you explained. I'm new to the whiskey game. I would just like to thank you give you respect and send you love and peace please send more videos I would love to buy more high-end bottles for my collection. My name is Michelangelo I live in California
I quite appreciate the high resolution of the videos it really adds to it
house baratheon is making great whiskey
lul
There is no "E" in Scotch Whisky.
@@onYTsince2008 in Westeros, they do.
@@benjaminsitaud9743 This means they are not just drunk; but beyond drunk.....that they cannot even get up! lmao!
It costs about $80 here in Pennsylvania and my new, favorite Scotch Whiskey.
Literally the most ive spent on any liqour. Its christmas so i wanted to indulged. Thanks for the walk through. Wicked good sauce
Just purchased my first bottle. It must be good, Horst took three sips before putting it down!
One of the best! Very enjoyable.
Very good review! Nice tasting glasses.
Cheers from South Africa 🥃
Best whiskey review channel I watch. Great channel, great reviews!
At Canadian$ 120, I have to enjoy every drip, watery or not. Thanks for the review. Indeed it appeared balanced after the second sip.
Congratulations Ben on pronouncing the word CITRUS correctly. Not being sarcastic here. You and your dad do a great job.
I'd try this just for the bottle
Horst is a master of his craft. He should just call himself the “Dram Daddy”!
Scotch age statement goes by the youngest scotch that makes the bottle. So, if you pour one glass of 12 yo Macallan into a cask of a 40 yo Macallan, you can only label is as as 12 yo. This is why it’s often a good idea to try younger scotches from lesser known distilleries as they are more likely to add older whisky to their single-malt blends (Deanston is one example). Sherry and Rum are the OPPOSITE. The age statement goes by the oldest product that makes up the bottle. This is why 30 yo sherry is not that expensive.
Interesting, what is the minimum percentage of maturer content Sherry or Rum must have before it can declare itself as a x-yo bottle?
enjoyed this review while opening the 12 yr bottle...great review
12 year is good, 18 year is really really good, King Alexander is the greatest! All worth the cost!
I was wondering when you would get around to this one Horse
I don't know if this is just me , but I found this whisky quite disappointing. At the time, I was also sipping Glenmorangie Tayne and this one felt lightyears ahead of the Dalmore.
I don't think I'd buy this again, but I'll probably try some of Dalmore's more expensive whiskies.
This one is a GREAT gift for people who are new to whisky!
Did not know you drank whiskey, Cloud!
Yes it is. Definitely a starter whisky
Dalmore is my favorite
I would NOT buy it for its Canadian price of around ≤ $100; too overpriced for something which is a watery 40%, it's Chill-filtered, and there is caramel added in it; all of those are minus points for me. Get yourself a Glenmorangie "The Quinta Ruban" 12 (Port Cask finish) instead for the same price point!!
Thank me later.....
Just sipping on it now, amazing!
Nice review , great points you make 👍
i tried doing what you guys did , keeping it and swishing it in my mouth , ( it was not the same bottle though it was Buchanan Master ) and it started to Burn my mouth... is that normal?? it was my first time trying whiskey Pure
Nice video father and son👍🏼👍🏼I’ll buy this Dalmore 12 yrs tommorow as my Xmas whiskey..
Also i really like bottle and packaging is there any other whiskey with deer antlers on bottle except Dalmore??
Cheers
Glenfiddich, but it is printed.
I guess I'm with the unimpressed. I bought some Dalmore 12 for the first time and am not that happy with it. If it were a song it would have sweet high notes and peaty low notes, but very little midrange. The smokiness is a bit offputting. It's not that slight hint you get in great blends like the higher level Johnny Walker's or the amazing in-your-face smokiness/brininess of an Ardbeg or Laphroaig.
Most valuable bottle with silver stag
just got one now April 23, 2021 4pm Philippine time.
I own a bottle of dalmore 12yr...why am i watching guys drink it?
Because u dumb
Is that caramel colour?
Yes
Not affordable everywhere. It’s $100 in Ontario, Canada. Nice whisky, but not worth that much in my opinion. A bit too thin at 40% ABV for my taste. Also, I’m not happy with all the E150a they use. It’s excessive.
It is definitely meant for the masses, but it isn't priced like it is. It is around 80 Euro here in Denmark, and for 12 Euros more I can buy a bottle of Arran 18 year old.
Jensen Zack Ohhh my! Arran is a wonderful distillery.
$59 dollars in the US
@ UnboundOdysseus
- It's on sale here in BC this month for $80; down from $95, which seems like a steep discount so im tempted to buy it. Probably wont though due to there being other bottles higher on my try-list.
50 bucks in us..
..its 100 in Canada because your money isn't worth anything
Got a bottle just waiting for a special occasion to open it.
Looking forward to buy this whyski
What are those glasses? Where to buy them?
Just bought this tonight as my first single malt scotch ever. I did enjoy it, however I don’t think that it tasted “better” than say Jameson. I drank it with a single ice cube, any suggestions to a single malt that will make me see exactly why they are superior to the blended?
Highland Park 12, unless you want to go into smokier territory
Don’t drink scotch with ice. You’ll kill the nose which is one of the main attractions (and aspects of flavor) of scotch. Add a few drops of water instead if the burn is too much for you at first. Then you’ll see the wonders of scotch.
Add drops of water. NO ICE!!
Whats the name of the glass they are using?
A GLASS
Glenfarclas i think
They have them made specifically for them. You can't buy them
Glencairn
Picked up a bottle of this at Christmas on sale for $62 here in Alberta, Canada. I found it not too bad. I wouldn't pay full price for it.
For 750 Ml or 1 liter ?
What Whisky would you pay full price for & why?
Im fairly new to scotch whisky and I am currently drinking the Macallan Double Cask and really liking it. I was thinking of trying this next or Balvenie. I have already had Glenlivet and Glenfiddich and I like those but I like the Macallan more.Any recommendations from anyone?
Glengoyne 18
Macallan is overpriced for their 40% ABV drams. Save your money. Glenfiddich and Glenlivet are all fine; Aberlour un-chillfiltered is definitely a great choice.
Balvenie 12yr is good. But with Dalmore go with the 15yr, it's the best of their range.
this or green label?
Why is Dalmore a Scotch, but spell Whisky with an E?
It's a 12 -point stag.
overprice in Canada
A.G $53 - $71 not extremely bad but still pricey
What's the price per bottle...
$60 to $70 in the US
When dose the update on your own barrle come?
when can we buy these glasses in the US?
amazon. Plenty of great ones there
Nice video boys. Danke schoen
When it comes to 12yo Ex-sherry matured whiskies, I would go with either the 12yo Unchilled Filtered Aberlour, or the 12yo Glendronach before I would get a bottle of the Dalmore. If someone was going to get me a Dalmore for a gift and gave me the choice between 12yo or the 15yo, I would definitely go with the 15yo. The 15yo has more layers of flavors, which makes for a complex dram underneath the sherry-bomb Dalmores deliver, while the 12yo doesn't do this as well.
Personally really like Glendronach 12, but Dalmore 12 is better for me certainly
I only got very strong roasted chestnut 🌰
Hello guys could you tell us which is better dalmore 12 or dalmore valor
I think Horst may have married an Irish girl 🍀
I got to drink 50yr old wild turkey really smooth
My favorite brand
chivas regal 18is my 1st choice
A very generic whisky. Sorry I bought it.
Way too sweet. Hardly tastes like whisky.
Found it horrible.
Good. Not great.
>colored
>chilled filtered
>40%
>expensive
No thanks
Jason Voorheese no not snobbery. Just not overpaying when i can get better quality for the same price
I agree. It is a single malt after all!
Totally agree, very disappointed with the quality considering what else you can buy for the same money
your understanding of quality is very simplistic.
@Jason Voorheese I very much enjoyed the Dalmore 12. When it comes to filtering and coloring it just makes the product slightly less interesting and honest imo. Plus adding an (unnecessary) process inflates the price, so I feel like they are making us pay more just so rich kids with suits who drink whisky out of tumblers can throw ice in it and be like “look at that nice color, and notice how smooth it goes down, let's drink scotch more often“
it's only business, ikr :)
but still it's a shame that a beautiful natural produkt is being changed in a way that puts it on the same level as all the artificial trash we're used to being fed.
Just like a beautiful woman who hides her beauty behind excessive amounts of makeup so when you see her you assume she's just an insecure ugly chick trying to trick you into buying her a natural colored single malt scotch whisky. And the circle closes :)
anyway, cheers, mate!
From what I've read it's a no no
90% talk 10% information
I bought this and I’m quite disappointed. Hardly anything on the nose or palette. It’s like it’s severely watered down. I didn’t care so much about the fact it’s coloured, but was expecting much more flavour.
