    What a great backdrop when detecting Steve. The Manticore certainly works well in that black sand at the beach in Tassie. An interesting mix of pre-decimal and decimal coins found. The silver ring was a great find. Hopefully we will get to see what it looks like after you clean it up!

      Thanks Luke! That ring is a mystery - could be pewter, as it doesn’t have any hallmarks, didn’t clean up like Silver, and is very heavy.

      Cheer Jim! It’s deep alright - surprising given I was only hunting with sensitivity of 22-23 out of 35!

    When I read the title ‘beach detecting in Tasmania’ said to myself “how exotic- wish ‘beach detecting in Oxnard’ sounded that good” 😅. Thanks for another great vid on your digs.

    Great finds and some were a bit of a challenge to get out from under the rocks but the best find was the ring even if it turns out to be a junker, nice one mate 👍😀 Tony

    Hi Steve - Just a tip with the Mi-4 pinpointer & black sand. If you are touching the black sand when you turn it on, it reacts to it much less. Thanks for the video - some really cool finds there!

    • @coilsandcoinsdetecting
      @coilsandcoinsdetecting  Год назад +1

      Yep. You can also ground balance (or desensitize) the pinpointer with a single button press while it’s against the ground. I still find the use of pinpointer and detector together the best way to find a target in these kinds of conditions.

      Not sure what it’s made from, but it’s not silver or gold. Could be pewter?

    I know that you were a little disdainful of finding that square copper nail however if I found nothing but one of them over the next week I would be real happy. I am on the nsw coast for a week and I hope to find just about anything including rubbish. The odd chance I have got to beach has meant a lot to of walking and no finds. You need to be a little bit more thankful of your finds. Cheers John

      Thanks John. I enjoy finding old relics, but I think on that occasion I had my heart set on a coin. Old square nails certainly have some age though, so they are interesting in that you never know what they came off. Good luck on your beach adventure - I’m sure you’ll find some treasures!

      @Coilsandcoinsdetecting What do you do with your finds? In my case none of them have a $ value just an interest value. If you sell them then maybe i can understand your disappointment. Personally I get just as much enjoyment out of finding a one or two cent coin as i do a penny, both are no longer made and both are part of our history. In fact the way things are going minelab will have to start producing detectors that will find plastic for future detectorists. Cheers John

    Awesome hunt! Think that detector is better than the nox 800?

      Thanks Chris! I think the Manticore is more sensitive than the Nox, and there’s a lot more information given to the user which means it’s more likely you’ll find good targets when they’re together with iron. I need to use the Manticore for a few hundred hours before I’m completely confident with it though, but so far I’m impressed.
