I'm 56 and just learning that metal detecting is a lot of work😂😂. 8 hours of digging holes, working around roots and rocks, putting the hole back together so no one knows you were there, only for it to be a memorial😂..and then have to stand back up lol...love this hobby

Wow. Wow. Wow!! That AAA badge is freaking awesome!! Completely agree with the "never hunted out" comments. There is a small town founded in the later 1800s not far from where I live. Pounded it for the past couple years. The parks department removed a row of blackberry bushes recently, so I took a chance. After digging about 20 tin cans, I was rewarded with a small, silver sugar bowl. The mint mark puts in right in the same time as the town's formation. Knee buckler for sure. Keep swingin`!!!

Different types of coils, detectors and settings can all yield different results. Then as you already know I’m sure soil moisture conditions can also be another factor.I remember when you were hunting this same property when the ground was so dry it was like cement. After a few rainfalls it’s a whole new experience.

I also love when someone tells me "that park or old school yard" is hunted out. I am an old school "old geezer" hunter and am still using my etrac. People that tell me that don't realize who they're saying that to, I have cherry picked those places back in the early 60's, I have been detecting those "hunted out places since 1960" with a Radio Shack BFO that I got for my 10th. birthday.

I really enjoyed that piece of glass & the research you did to discover what it was from! I keep a shoebox of 'sad glass' on the ND Farmstead when I'm weeding the foundation flower beds, wondering how each piece ended up there. When my Sister visits she contributes her finds. A sheet of paper lists the date & location of each find.---And you said there was a lot of traffic noise at your dig site??? (Had to laugh at the train picture!)---How soon after getting home did you call Chris about finding that badge?! I'd never heard of that organization before.---Once again, great photos.

So I usually dig 24-25 for nickels with the manticore but I'm guessing the vdi changes with the mode some. My Xterra pro was all over the place on nickels from 17-30s , I'm hoping the manticore isn't that erratic. I know it is on pennies sometimes. My question is does it work really well in trashy areas in the fast mode? I've been using mine for about a month in general learning the machine with pretty good success but I've got an area that's really trashy but I know there are good signals amongst it
