Hi Jimmy , lol . We will have to get together for another hunt . Its hard to find much out there right now . Spring Break is just a few weeks away . Talk to you soon . Thanks for watching .
Congrats on the new toy Brian glad to see you’re getting out. Just a suggestion, it’s helpful to some folks to know what program and settings you’re using on the Manticore so they can use it for comparisons. Keep digging those deepies! 👍
Hi Gary , I have been playing around with the settings. I noticed that a higher recovery speed seems to make the pin pointer more accurate . That has been driving me nuts . lol Thanks for watching .

@@idigdaytona4478 Hi, First impressions were good. We went between two, my friend took the Equinox 800, there were two signals that the manticore was able to read and the Equinox was not able to capture the object, as they were deep and already out of reach of the Equinox. But I believe it is still too early to say with certainty the greater depth capacity of the Manticore. Very good 2D map.
@@leco-joseleandrotatsch9294 I think it does have more depth than the Equinox . I have not had many signals to dig at the beach with the Manticore. Not much going on at the beach just yet . @@idigdaytona4478 The Manticore nonferrous line is what I'll be focusing on as well, as it allows me to ascertain a nonferrous artifact and commingled artifacts. These are the TID values that I've collected to date for the Manticore. Manticore TID Ranges: Gold: TID 1 to 85. Aluminum: TID 2 to 92. If I don't want to leave gold in the ground, I need to dig every blip that plots on the nonferrous line. I'm watching to see if anyone finds a gold TID higher than 85. I still have to test the few silver piece that I have. And I'm looking for other peoples Manticore silver TID to fill in the gaps that I'm missing.

@@idigdaytona4478 Wow, 98! I guess I can notch out 99 and 100 LOL. Just joking. The rule of thumb for gold and silver is: A large surface area gold object is a high-conductor, use a low frequency. A small surface area gold object is a low-conductor, use a high frequency. I'm aware of using 20-40 kHz for small gold. But what single frequency and SMF is best for one 1 oz .9999 gold? What single frequency and SMF is best for five, 1 oz .9999 gold?
Hi James , it does hit on the deep stuff . I am wondering if all the deep targets are just ones missed by all the other machines. Thanks for watching .
It could be ! Though if another target was shallower then that would show up too plus I think you would get a double beep. Try to dig a deep one theout then replace it and fill hole halfway with fill then place another target to the side and fill to top. Now detect and see how it shows up and sounds. Now you can see what the doctor will react. Good luck!!
Hello from Tennessee my friend . I’m so sorry I’m late watching the video. I hope you get to see the comments with me being late. I liked the video . What do you think of the new machine? It goes deep. I don’t think I could dig that deep. Stay safe my friend.
Hi Steve , I see all the comments .lol You are not late unless the next video is out. lol I like the new machine. I get the pin point figured out in a future video. It seems it was a settings issue . It does seem to like deep targets . I hope that is helpful when the rings start dropping as the water warms up . We will soon see . I hope all you're tests went well . Thanks for watching .
That's a patch keep hitting it something might turn up keep going back over it more targets should appear. Maybe go back follow tide out if decent swell might be able get down abit
@@idigdaytona4478 if you follow the tide out over patch it can pull off sand as wave rips out targets come outa no where. I just kinda sit my coil on where it is or stand right by it noticing where target is and wait till get a chance to dig then wlk out when in scoop or if it falls out must of been small
Enjoyed the vid. Must always be a good hunt with JCB. Like his vids too. How are you liking the Manticore? Notice differences between the Equinox and the Manticore?
Hi CZkidd , Jimmy is fun to hunt with. He has made some great finds. He mentioned one to me the other day. I am looking forward to seeing the video. The Manticore is a nice machine . I figured out the issue with the pin pointer accuracy . It was the recovery speed setting . The new number scale is taking a bit to get used to as well . It does seem to go very deep. That could be very helpful when the beach goers return in a few weeks . Thanks for watching .
Hi R.E.D. in Al. , nothing wrong with the first gen Equinox 600 / 800 . I found a lot of gold with mine . We will see how the Manticore stacks up. I feel they should have left the VDI numbers like the Equinox or let you pick either scale . Thanks for watching .
Hi Debra , I like Minelab detectors . If you want to hunt ocean beaches , you want a machine that handles the salt . Some machines can't deal with it and go crazy in wet salt sand. The Minelab Vanquish 540 is a good machine and sells for $379 . They also make a Vanquish 440 for $289 and a Vanquish 340 for $199. I see them out on the beach now and then and they all look the same . The 540 is the better one. The Equinox 600 ( the machine I have used for years ) is a great machine for the beach and land hunting . They are now selling for $599 . The Equinox is waterproof which is nice if you get knocked down by a wave or caught in heavy rain. The Vanquish only has a waterproof coil . The control box on the Vanquish is not waterproof . They are easy to use machines . My Equinox paid for itself every year. But I was out there swinging it. Minelab also has the Equinox 800 for $899 and the two new Equinox 700 $699 and 900 $1,099 . The 700 and the 900 have the 0-99 number scale like my new Manticore $1599. For a first machine I would say the Vanquish 540 or the Equinox 600 are good choices for beach hunting . The Vanquish 440 and 340 may be fine on the beach as well but I don't know. Like I said they Vanquish machines all look the same. I would not want you to spend the money on a machine and get to the beach and have it not perform in the salt. I hope that helps . Good luck and thanks for watching .
Now that you have the Manticore , you need to have somebody else to follow behind you, walking the same path line and see if you have any missed targets or just bring the Equinox and follow up with a possible split video of the same lines that you have already have searched. And this is just my opinion on the New Manticore and I think it is not as good as the equinox is of the Video's that I have watched of other's, but I'm still using the Simplex and would love to get my hands on the Equinox and I like the Tone's of the ML and you can't change anything else on the Simplex and no recent updates and it is needed but Nokta says no we have New Detectors though, but I think 🤔 with the lower numbers there's a more precise definition of target's, than with the higher scale of numbers, but I think if you would try to do a video of the 2 machines and Mark the Target's and See. And also see how long you go with the Manticore to your first target and then put your marker down and pickup the Equinox and and walk the that same lines and see if you get the same results to the first target that you found with the Manticore and I know it is ALOT to Ask but would you trade me for your Equinox , ?? But I just realized that you have the 600 and not the 800 , and I would like to get a 800 but I will just have to wait for my ship to come in and If you could possibly try to do this with the 2 detectors and see what they are able to do.. and I'm only into your Video At the 1:45 minute mark and stopped It to tell you what my thoughts are Thanks 👍 Brian.....
Hi Carol , Daytona Beach gets hunted very heavily . On a busy day there could be 20 people out there swinging detectors . Most of them using the Minelab Equinox . You never find it all , no matter what machine you use . There is no way to take two machines and a beach scoop out on the beach . It would be boring for someone to follow behind me and try and cover the same path . I'm sure I miss things but not much . The Manticore is a very good machine . The 2D screen keeps me from digging as much junk . More time swinging for good targets . The next video IDD 291 we find big gold and some silver with the Manticore . You just never know what will show up out there . I like the number scale of the old Equinox but I am learning the new number scale of the Manticore . With the Manticore I find the numbers to be less useful than the 2D screen . I would never trade my Equinox . Its my back up machine now . A lot of people think that the Equinox 600 is less powerful than the Equinox 800 . I don't think that is the case . The 800 has the prospecting mode frequencies . This gives the 800 more total frequencies but the prospecting mode frequencies are of no use on the beach. Its too sensitive to the salt and will false signal . The 800 in beach mode does not use the prospecting frequencies for that reason . In one of my videos I met a local lady that hunts Daytona and she uses the Equinox 800 with a large 15 inch coil . She had been digging a target and it sank on her and she could no longer hear it . I swung my Equinox 600 over it with the stock coil and could just hear it . We dug it together and pulled out a brass key . At $599 the Equinox 600 is a great machine for the beach . Mine has paid for itself many times over . If you want to hunt for tiny gold nuggets off the beach than the 800 would be better . The thing to remember is to keep your coil moving . Cover as much sq ft as you can. The targets are out there , you just have to swing over them. Happy hunting and thanks for watching .
@@idigdaytona4478 Brian, what I was trying to say about the new Manticore is that it doesn't pick up the Target's like the Equinox does from the video's that I have seen lately and you Do know other people that have the equinox and or Manticore and the video wouldn't have to be a full 30 minutes maybe 5 but Use the Sand scoop to draw the line like you Do, and have the other person following the same lines and see whichever machine Hits and wait until the other Machine gets there and see if they have any signal and I think your friend Jimmy would be interested in the results,.. cause I Do want to know myself whichever sees the 🎯 and I Do want to upgrade, from a Teknetics and Simplex to Something Minelab else and I have a Creek on property and A river that I have prospected but I feel like the Manticore is really missing ALOT of target's and don't want to buy a new machine that is that Quiet 🤐🤫🤐 and that's why I think if you could possibly do a video of the 2 machines and the only Minelab dealership is over 2 hours away from me and we still have 3:09 a gallon gas prices here, so it's a good distance from me. To go there and do a comparison for myself Thanks 👍 Brian
Hi Carol , the reason the finds have not been that good lately has more to do with the time of year and cold water temps keeping people from swimming . Having used both machines , I would say the Manticore is better on the depth and the 2D screen is very nice for identifying iron and bottle caps . The real question is weather the Manticore is worth the extra cost . The time not spent digging bottle caps will allow more time swinging for good targets . I don't think I have had any nice finds that one machine would have heard that would be missed by the other . Where the Manticore shines in my opinion is the 2D screen . We will see how well it does as the water temps rise and we get into the summer season .
@@idigdaytona4478 like I have said I just think the Manticore isn't seeing all the Target's that are there and until you Or anybody gets to know there new Detectors you will not know until a test is done and I know nothing is ever hunted out and yes I know that Winter isn't a good time to detect but a great time to do a comparison with less people around you now and you could possibly use your own Target's and you said that you don't think you have May of missed any but you might of and I think it will be better to know if you Did miss something over one detector or the other, and I know you don't do comparison videos but it is ALOT easier to do in the Sand than the dirt, no sand where I live and I don't have any Minelab detector's Or Access to any and Yes I like the 2 D but it's so much quieter than the equinox but the video's that I have seen the Manticore will false ALOT More than The Equinox does and you can tell when you get something good and Bad with the equinox , but the Manticore gives a good signal on junk (some) and a bad signal on good stuff and I go by the sounds more than the numbers and I think if you would do the comparison while nobody is really there and it will help you get to know your New Detector..... And see if it does or doesn't miss something before you get to crowded on the Beach ⛱️🏖️⛱️🏖️⛱️..
Hi Carol , so far the only thing about the Manticore I don't like is a accuracy of the pin point . Other than that its a great machine . These are the TID values that I've collected to date for the Manticore.
Manticore TID Ranges:
Gold: TID 1 to 85.
@@pigeonbloodruby5330 5 one oz .999 gold coins stacked ring up a 97 or 98 I forget . I figure gold can be anywhere depending on size and shape . I will be digging everything on the line . Thanks for watching .
@@idigdaytona4478 Wow, 98! I guess I can notch out 99 and 100 LOL. Just joking.
The rule of thumb for gold and silver is:
A large surface area gold object is a high-conductor, use a low frequency.
A small surface area gold object is a low-conductor, use a high frequency.
I'm aware of using 20-40 kHz for small gold.
But what single frequency and SMF is best for one 1 oz .9999 gold?
What single frequency and SMF is best for five, 1 oz .9999 gold?

I have been looking that detector and all of these people have been digging from 2-7 scoops. It seems to favor the deep ones. Just a thought !!
Good luck!!
Hi James , if there is more than one target the 2D map would show them both , unless they were touching . Thanks for watching .
Hello from Tennessee my friend . I’m so sorry I’m late watching the video. I hope you get to see the comments with me being late. I liked the video . What do you think of the new machine? It goes deep. I don’t think I could dig that deep. Stay safe my friend.
Hi Steve , I see all the comments .lol You are not late unless the next video is out. lol
I like the new machine.
Hi Mark , that was a nice patch. Not many like that out there right now. I will be going back to that section of beach soon . Thanks for watching .
The numbers remind me of digging with a Garrett. Think I will stay with my 800.
Hi R.E.D. in Al. , nothing wrong with the first gen Equinox 600 / 800 . I found a lot of gold with mine . We will see how the Manticore stacks up. I feel they should have left the VDI numbers like the Equinox or let you pick either scale . Thanks for watching .
You're you're going deep that's what she said
Hi Jerry , it likes the deep ones . Thanks for watching .
Hi Brian, what would be a good detector for a beginner?
I don't know that I will have time to do tests like you are thinking about . I have no reason to think the Manticore is missing targets , and from the depth of some of the targets I have dug , it does a great job. Thanks for watching .
Well…..the beach is sure bigger than it was….looks like a good machine.
Hi Rod , Daytona Beach is a gradual slope . At low tide is goes out a good ways . Thanks for watching .
VDI numbers look similar to the ATPro…?…..US Quarter was 90….pretty good depth…
Hi Rod , the scale is 0 - 99 where the Equinox was 0 - 40 . It likes the deep ones . Thanks for watching .
I know how you feel , over in Naples and Macro ..slim Pickens for sure
Hi Dan , seems its dry sand season until the water warms up. Thanks for watching .
Send the Zippo to the company and they will renew it like new... That's what they are famous for doing to the lighters that you send a complete overhaul....
Hopefully, they will take care of it...
Hi Philip , I will try that . I still have the Zippo . Thanks for watching .
If that is a Zippo brand lighter you can mail it to Zippo and they will send you a new one or repair that one
Hi Ben , if I did that , it may be the worst one they have ever seen. lol I will check it out . Thanks for watching .
