  • This is my first detecting session with the Minelab Manticore. There's a lot to learn on such a powerful machine with so many optional settings, and detecting at the beach where signals are fewer and (usually) more obvious is a good place to start!
    Join me as I learn the new Manticore!

    Great to see you’ve got the Manticore. I’ve had mine now for 6 weeks and love it and only detect beaches. In the water I prefer “Surf & Seawater” mode and in dry sand swap between the others.
    I struggle with the pin-pointer with this compared to the Nox and end up digging many scoops to find comparable targets. Awesome machine and have had some great finds.

      I’m sure this machine will be awesome at the beach, and I’m hoping it will also help when I’m in those trashy bush sites once in work it out. I didn’t find the pin pointer too bad, but it’s going to take some time to understand what the 2D screen and signal response is telling me. Can’t wait to use it more.

    Great video mate, I just picked up the 900 , a massive upgrade from the Go Find. So far so good. Look forward to your next vid.

      Thanks mate! You’ll definitely find the 900 to be a massive step up from the Go Find. Good luck and I’m sure you’ll find plenty more good stuff with this machine.

    Greetings from Florida. I enjoyed your video, having only received my manticore about four days ago. I’ve been fairly satisfied with what I’ve seen so far using it here on the beaches, although the only issue I found is the fact that I find it difficult to pinpoint with this 11 inch coil. I use the pinpointing function on the machine, only to find as I get deeper that I am a few inches off, which is slightly annoying at times. But again, I’ve just started using machine, so I have a lot of learning to do with it, and overall, I’m happy with it. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos on the beaches in Australia. 👍 Subscribed

      Thanks for watching. I’m also very new to the Manticore, so I’m learning new things about it every time I take it out. I’ve found the best way to pinpoint is to swing over the target left to right and back again, while at the same time moving the coil back towards me. When I start to lose the signal, I mark the place to dig at the tip of the coil. Seems to work most of the time. Good luck & happy hunting!

    nice hunt! its a super machine you will get a rusty deep nail every now and then deep on the beach it rings off good!

      Thanks. I need to spend a couple of hundred hours with it yet to be comfortable with what it’s telling me - the amount of info is much greater than the Equinox 800.

    The Canadian coin I’m guessing is iron core which is why you get the gurgly signal. The Nox will do the same as it’s picking up two signals..The iron and the nickel coating. As for the two dollar, if you switched to all metal I think you would have heard something else in that hole.
    The Manticore is super sensitive to what’s in the ground and I find many of my signals are distorted one way or another. The smallest impurity impacts the sound. As long as that repeatable signal is there then I dig it. I’ve just had my first few days on the beach and I love it. Dug a lot less junk and walked away with more good stuff so it’s doing a good job.👍

      Thanks Dannyboy! You’re definitely right about the Canadian coin, as it has a steel core with a nickel outer. I have a lot to learn with this machine, but I have no doubt I’ll find it way more powerful once I work it out. Can’t wait to get out there more!

    Nice hunt very informative just a little tip when trying to pair up headphones on equinox 800 before starting the machine turn headphones on then press and hold centre button on headphones unti you get that pairing sound then turn machine on straight away you will find jt pair up instantaneously
    Cheers Des

      I find that when you start the 800 and when you get that first beep, that is the time to push the start button on the head phones. They both start at the same time. Cheers

      Thanks Des. I’ve never had an issue pairing up the Bluetooth headphones with the Equinox 800. The problem is when you press the “wifi” button on the controller to disable the headphones, and then press it again to try reconnecting - it takes quite. Long time, and often doesn’t work at all. The WM08 wireless module on the other hand works instantly.

    Canadian here, our coins are a steel plated zinc. After one month in salt water they do this. On my machine they come up as garbage

    Good first outing.
    Did you try the Nox on the last 2 coins to see if it was clearer ? Almost like when I switched to the GPZ700O from the GPX5000, noisy as hell on targets. It was the new type of ground balance, but in your case I would think in beach mode the ground balance would be turned off.
    Try running over it in normal hunting mode ?

    • @coilsandcoinsdetecting
      @coilsandcoinsdetecting  Год назад +1

      The Canadian quarter is nickel plated steel (94% steel), so that helps to explain the horrible signal I was getting. Still, the machine let me know it was there and the signal was good enough for me to investigate it. I’ll check it with the Nox 800 and let you all know how it sounds.

    Quite keen on one of these, I have the 800 and love it but I am tall and find it a bit short, I have drilled new holes for the handle so I can move it up and lengthen the reach, does the Manticore reach longer then the Nox, no one have been able to tell me for certain, cheers.

    • @coilsandcoinsdetecting
      @coilsandcoinsdetecting  Год назад

      I’m about 5’11”, and I’d say the maximum shaft length is about the same as the Nox 800, so it’s probably a little bit short for someone over 6’2” or so. There are red lines on each part of the shaft to show the maximum extension.

      @@coilsandcoinsdetecting Cheers for that yes Im 6'4" and just find it a tad short which is not great for the back, another couple of inch's of carbon would have sorted it! oh well.

      Yep, it’s a very sensitive machine so putting it in the water requires some serious adjustment.
