I love this video and your great step by step instructions. I made 3 hats so far for my new great grandbabies. Can this be used for a boys hat also or would it look too girly?
I need to know, the scale for this hat. The individual pieces of umbrella print, on your video, measure about 9 inches in height X (a little over) 7 inches at the bottom flare. Is this the best? The pattern prints out smaller on one of the downloads ("tulip hat") but I notice you have a different link below ("childs hat pattern") that looks larger, I haven't printed it off yet to check. Thanks, this is very cute, and i will try it as soon as I find out the right scale from you.
Thanks for this video. I'm actually after a pattern for a preemie baby and it's so hard to find hats to fit. Looks like it wont be too hard to adjust the size if I need to make it smaller than the one you made in the video. did you make any adjustment to the actual size of the original pattern
You are so welcome! No I did not make any adjustments to the pattern. It is quite small but not small enough for a preemie I don't think. Although it is a bit adjustable with the the ties in the back.
@@SewVeryCrafty I love that it has the ties, it will make all the difference. I'll make one to size and see if it will need adjusting. At worst, my granddaughter will just have to grow into it and I'll readjust the sizing for smaller ones. Once I make it I can see my daughter asking me to make some for the friends she made in hospital who also had preemies.

Yes. Add 1/4" seam allowance to the pattern.

The child's hat pattern should be the one to use. I am unable to measure at the moment buy that pattern should work for you.

The only pattern I have os the one attached to this video. It is a Japanese pattern. Have you downloaded that pattern?

It's about 19" around but has drawstrings to make it smaller if necessary.
