@@derapprentice i think the knightmare links can be useful budget options for a variety of decks. They aren't as good but they are a good start

You make good content. I don't think you need to worry about loyalty to any engine. I like the branded ideas and I like the runick ideas. I like watching your process, and I think it's possible that the best engine for DM might not have even been explored yet, so please keep experimenting.

In testing, Phantasmay has been utterly insane for me. Just the ability to fix your hand alone, is worth playing, add a negate and dragon fusion fodder is just next level.

There is an error with the visas and the dark magians combo getting you DM and DMG for s:p. You can't link s:p without 2 effect monsters, so one possible solution is adding in link spider. But ED space is always tight so up to you
Yup, I mentioned in the video you’d prob link climb into SP, not use DM… another alternative is just summoning another Runick monster and using that as material
Appreciate the take and direction of DM, I have thought about Runick working with DM but I am just not a big fan of the Runick cards/style(and I really enjoy Branded DM). Definitely looking forward to some combo videos with this and some locals gameplay/commentary though! Thanks Matchie!
I Love branded, it’s far and away my favourite way to play DM, but a change might be refreshing, and if Branded becomes more viable, I’m 100% sure I’ll be circling back to it
It's crazy just how few good DM lists exist on RUclips. Shoutout to Matt and Loza for showcasing your earlier lists and bringing you up on my suggestions.
Guys this guy LEGIT makes genuinly good DM lists. Not the trash that runs 3 DMs or redundant extra decks fusions or "3 circle because I like it". The man has logic for his reasons.
Although this isn't the first Runick list I've seen it's a better refined version. I personally would make a few changes but very few and as he said we have a while to refine. In regards to the cute Visas play, I doubt it will occur reasonably enough to justify the better payoff over Fenrir. I mean Fenrir by definition is a draw but this also a slot I would change if given a chance.
I would even try to squeeze in an Upstart (40 list) and potentially Apprentice for it's draw. I also struggle to drop the field spell because itself is a draw for E soul and Magicians Souls +2 but it definitely lacks impact.
I ALSO tend to lean into a 45 card list to almost never see DM or DMG in hand obviously outside of the free pull from Apprentice.
Great list though mate. Driven by logic and not feelings.

Recently got back into the game, really glad I found someone keeping Dark Magician alive, looking forward to the combo vid
I opened 120 packs of cyberstorm access and got two choas angels, 2 x quem virtuous, 1 bystial dis plater, and despian and most of the other good cards but no starlight rares:(

l would say that i really like esoul in this deck with dragon knight
i think having that ineffected monster that protect everything will give you an amazing control of the field
maybe it's just me but i feel like dragon knight can be an amazing teck in this deck , dragoon is better of course but with all the runick cards i think having the option of dragon knight is amazing i you managed to set up the dm triangle with the runick field spell/ dragostipelia is another secret target i believe it's easy to make using a runick monster+ dm or dmg

Dragon knight is great in theory, but Hugin offers the exact same protection as DMDK, for much less… which is why if you are going to play the DM triangle, it’s best in a build like this

How about you add golgonda the continuous spell in the deck it will help with your branded mix and it will also help keep true to its nature to play as a real dm deck its protects backrow and your monsters by sending from extra deck to the grave a monster that mentions fallen pf albaz

Lol when I was told about this vid I couldn't believe it. Because I have almost the save cards in my dark runic exodia deck . The only thing missing is exodia , except cards like visas but good Idea.

In all honesty, not a fan of the ruinick engine due to my past experience going against it. (might've butchered the name) but i get where you're coming from. Although I'm still sticking with the branded build, but i can try to cook with the more important DM cards (3 soul servant, 2 secrets of dark magic) and 2 magician's rod
Branded is still my favourite way to play the deck, just wanted to try something new…. I can totally see a future where we go back to playing Branded DM :)
For the extradeck sometimes tou could discard Fabled Ceburrel to summon Apprentice. The syncro summon using both to get an Chaos Archifiend and then try to build something else but with a decent start monster and effect like that. And still having a normal summon for the magician rod for example
One of my favorite variants of this deck is with horus, amazing synergy. To be honest i don’t love runnick cards, but i wish you the best luck in your competitive path 👍
Loved the Horus list I’ve played with over the last few months. Unfortunately, it just dies to a little too much right now (droll; ash, belle ect) however, when it pops off, its soooo fun!

You can try High ebon magician, in case of you cannot access to Fountain, you can use the quick spells from your hand,
I’ve thought about it. Reason I’m not playing is that it just demands too many resources to set up, and If I don’t have access to fountain, I’ll just set the cards instead.
But the theory is sound.

Cool engine! Visas Starfrost and any Lv4 and another non-warrior/non-light equals Baronnes. (Also Visas is increadibly cheap rightnow.) I will remember that.

I was never a dark magician fan but this looks kinda fun. Also I've been looking for a runick deck for a long time but none of the decks have convinced except this! I hope we will see some more combos/gameplay in general. Would really love to learn this deck! 😊

Good old Runick DM have been messing around with since it came out cause of the Draw potenial from Runick and Soul servant but always lacks to really get me playing this deck for real. And in my version i liked DMtDK with ES cause protects fountain and i been playing also with bystials and duality with made it also easier to summon. Keep up the good work always like to hear you theorizing about DM and hope to see you TOP with DM!
Thanks for the encouraging words… im playing around with the lsit, I’ve experimented briefly with Bystials and regained,,, in theory it worked, might revisit those notes.

As you said, you're in a large disadvantage without S:P but at my locals, most players don't own that card, neither do I.
Do you have a suggestion what to play in the extra deck instead of S:P and Chaos Angel as these two are by far the most expensive cards in the list?
Many people have already said about S:P that there is not really an alternative. If you have 3 extra deck slots, you could play the Kinghtmares (Pheonix, Cerberus, Unicorn). But they are not really a replacement for S:P.
Alternatives to Chaos Angel I guess kinda exist. Depends a bit on what you need and what you can summon in your deck. If you can summon generic Lv10 Synchros, and Bystial Dis Pater is still to expensive to you, you could play Baronnes de Fleur (which hardly costs anything). And as we just learned, summoning generic Lv10 Synchros is easy, if you have Visas Starfrost in hand (which costs basically nothing) and have on the field any lv4 as well as any non-warrior/non-light monster that you don't need any more. Baronnes and Dis Pater don't do the same thing as Chaos Angel. But they are just good cards, although not quite as easy to summon.

Interesting thing I've been taking advantage of, Diabellestarr Witch can grab a cool Quick play spell that no one uses too on top of having cool synergy with Dark Magician. Can also be put on top with IOC and set with The Dark Magicians Fusion and used as a kind of Raigeki on opponents turn
And Wanted is another draw you can get your Soul Servant Target with as well

Btw, what outer sleeves are you using? I also like to double sleeve but i feel like the precise fit inner sleeves i'm using right now are not ideal.

If you run mana, mahad, dm and dmg you get a draw 4 but you will have to play at least 3 copies of tim dragon to discard them for fodder from the hand just an idea

I like the idea of the deck but I still think a winda lock with dragoon is better than the runick line. You can also skill drain with the branded engine if you pair it it with bystials

Hey great Deck Profile and a nice new way to play DM! However I prefer the Branded version and my question would be: Would u change any ratio or cards from your last Branded DM deck profile? Like the DM or Rod or SoulServant ratio, or maybe swapping something? But as always, thanks for your high quality videos really appreciated and a happy healthy new year!
Love the Branded list still! As far as changes, I think I would opt to move the thrust package back into the side deck in place of main-decking more board breakers

I've played dark magician ever since I first started playing and my best version I've ever had for it has been a 60 card pile using bystials chimera branded and dark magician
My favourite set up is eternal soul dragon Knight piercing the darkness and magical circle

I haven't played yugioh competitively in over a decade; and was around when it first came out. What's turned me off is how a lot of duels seem to be over within a turn or two. Regardless I really like this list and am considering picking it up. I was curious to know how long it would take for me to get up to speed in understanding the flow of the game competitively; considering I'm reasonably adaptable. I like the list honestly. And i could use this list for my AE format. But i prefer add fenrir instead golem because sometimes you need summon rod anyways.

this is an awesome profile, I don't know if I'm missing something but I'm coming up short on the main deck profile count, I'm ending at 37 cards...what am I missing?
I like the tec with Visas but isnt Prosp better ? More consistency and u just do ur runnick and DM stuff ? also most of the deck we will face will be fire king/labrynth and they will just destroy visas target
Prosp stop you from drawing cards, and all this deck wants to do is draw draw and draw haha.
I love prosp, but as long as we’re playing soul servant, I don’t think we should be playing it
@@MatchieYGO yeah i was thinking about this but i was thinking like it could be a good way to end ur main phase 2 and get more runnick stuff for runick cards or in case u get ash on the good cards u have a way to still search for them and soul servant is a quick play spell so u can always set it for next turn and use it as a follow up on turn 3 instead of just using it turn 1

Fellow DM supporter, and I want to contribute to our collective community efforts, however I am just getting back into the game. Would you consider utilizing Summoner Monk + Keeper for Normal summons, while utilizing rank 4 plays such as Abyss Dweller? Or is it too fragile a line of play based on my current understanding of the current game state? Also, what are your opinions on Mana Dragon/the new Crescent Dragon?

GOOD DL u need to play imduk u cant make S/P with DM ... i make lot of play test with this DL really good idéa i think they are some problemes ... i think idea to play super poly is good and play stapelia garura to make extra zone free with DM engine,Dragoon i'll never see it :'( plya 2 copies it's soo match

u can make stapelia with ugin and dar magician in your turn and make extra zone free to activate other runnick card for drawing 3 card in first turn @@MatchieYGO

Its hard to say… I don’t play MD so my opinion might be void, but I’d assume bystial DM or Dogmatica DM with a small branded engine might be the play

What about ref seen as you skip your battle phase your trading 1 for 1 with the runic spells but it allows you to do damage even if your skipping battle phases
You need to summon other monsters with this deck, rod NS is very important and special summoning Runick monsters to grab fountain and use them as extenders
Using ref means we can’t do everything else, so it’s an easy decision not to play it

Just play I:p + knightmare unicorn instead of s:p and chaos Angel if you can’t afford it. Or you can always get a jap/Korean chaos Angel they are a lot cheaper obv and still legal

Sorry if I’m dumb but I’m confused, what’s the potential win with magic formula?
If you're in game 3 and time in the round is about to be called, the winner is the player with more life points. So you'd search magic formula off of rod or soul servant, equip it and then link off the monster into dharc, getting the +1000 life points

We play it until it isn’t good anymore or they ban it… it’s all about adapting with these Less than Rouge strategies :)

I just wanna play my decks for as long as i wanna play them not ban and limit cards that arent even that old let alone strong just so they can sell the newest ones.
@@Dragonbro91_I get the sentiment, but take it from a guy who thought similarly back when he played PaleoFrogs during TOSS format: plan as you might, you can never truly be safe from the banlist. Life is short, and decks have shelf lives-- particularly if you play online, don't be afraid to try decks just because they _might_ get hit.

Sure hit strong cards to shake up the meta that im fine with.
But destroying entire arctypes just to sell the new ones or even limit certain cards that would stop the new ones from being the best.
Konami dosnt ban for the health of the game, they ban for the weight of their wallets.
All while marketing nostalgia at every turn.
