My Holosun 507C-X2 will work without the battery outdoors even with a somewhat overcast day. In fact it works just as well as with a battery. However, indoors it will not work at all without a battery. My phone has a crazy bright flashlight and even if I point it directly at the solar panel it will not lite the reticle.
Throwing myself under the bus, I was watching a video from Circa 2020. The guys name is Corbin. He had a square store selling knock offs. I bought one of these and it came with the knock off strike industries base and cage that you didn't get for $45 as a guinea pig. Considering what the base cost for the real one, I figured "what the hell" Man what a mistake. As you said, the battery died right away, because I thought it would go into sleep mode. Nope. The buttons are impossible without a tool, or like you said, you're finger nail. It works, but is such a pain to change the battery and turn off or on, that I instantly hated it. In the indoor range the blue hue was definitely not cool either. It will make a fool out of you, let me tell ya. Last I checked, Circa 2020 was explaining how all his product got confiscated by customs and that's why nobodys orders are getting filled. Total disaster.

If your eyesight/present moment awareness is so bad you can't tell the difference between an "O" and an "A", I'm not standing anywhere near you on a firing range...I might end up fitted for one--- a halo, that is...(and here you were, thinking you were a professional smartass.)

Thats not true, my Shield RMSc has a battery on the bottom and it's awesome and doesn't lose zero when changing the battery..I also got a UTG 3,same thing awesome, doesn't lose zero. With that said, I'm currently waiting on a Holosun HS407cx2 for my P80 G26..can't wait..😁
