    Tl;dr
    The good: the protini polypeptide cream and b hydra serum combined together can be a very good moisturizer (don’t use the serum alone). The lippe balm can help with hyperpigmentation in the lips.
    The meh: the jelly cleanser is ok but you can get similar from aveeno for cheaper. The pollution protecting bronzer is probably not doing much for you with small drops.
    The bad: The vitamin c serum has the same issues that most vitamin c serums have: unstable and rapidly oxidizes on the skin. The sakari baby facial and TLC framboos glycolic acid mostly function as salicylic acid since we AHA % doesn’t inform us about effectiveness. The eye creams don’t do much that the protini moisturizer doesn’t do better.
    The terrible: The facial bars are far too high of a ph.

    • @Mokawoo
      @Mokawoo 4 года назад +3

      ShaunaB how can the protini cream be good if all it has are ingredients that do nothing for the skin derms have taken studies and the peptides and growth factors go beyond 500 daltons which means they can’t penetrate the skin which means the cream is usless

      Honestly, I was & still am disappointed! I had her "iconic" 2% bha & it broke me out, It also left a weird film that I did not like! I tried using it again a year later & the same thing happened no matter how i tried to use it! I had her mens line, the only thing I kinda like was the cleanser gel but get better results from my Freederm! I still have air tight samples of her sunscreens but i think I'm going to skip, they broke me out sooo bad last time (A lot of her products contain oils like sunflower which my skin hates) Anyway my skin is ok at the moment so might try them out...on 2nd thoughts, I am waiting on arrivals from Japan so i actually probably won't use any of her stuff again...Sorry not sorry, oh & pricey $$$... I think she lies a lot, her claims are a joke, I just don't like her at all, I have real skin issues & I really believed her claims at 1 point 👎👎👎👎😠 So glad I found Dr.Dray

      Sam M Acids like BHA are well known for causing mild purging, likely the cause or you could respond poorly to one of the ingredients. Not the brands fault honestly, everyone is different. I like the BHA liquid from the Resist line personally, it’s the consistency of water and no tackiness.

      cinlocybin this is not “one person” experience this a a dermatologist experience on the vitamin C and her scientific over view also let me tell you a secret most of those serums have silicone which will give you a brightening effects a cheap ingredient... I bought a vitamin C (way more cheaper because I find those brands over priced) and did the same brightening effect due to the silicone in it.
      Also here in Europe we have a lot of good brands with their own labs that sell much more affordable vitamin C like Sesderma. Here must people won’t buy overpriced products that became famous on RUclips.

I enjoyed the marula oil, but I couldn't bring myself to pay that much for it again (I got both during Sephora's 20% sale). Now, I just stick with the neutrogena gel-cream and cerave PM that has been a winning combo for me. As far as the night serum, I loved it for the first few months of use till I had to stop when my doctor put me on retin-a for acne. I found that I got better results from my retin a (that is only $10 since my insurance actually covered it) than I ever did with the night serum. I still kick myself for ever buying into the hype! There is absolutely no reason any of these products should cost so much!

      if you do want to keep using marula oil, you can buy a 1 oz bottle for around $15 on amazon, same virgin, unrefined quality and same size bottle that DE charges a ridiculous $72 for. hope that helps to save you some $!

    Coffee and Doctor Dray! It’s going to be a good day. I’ve been waiting for this review. I love that you break everything down in the ingredients and site actual clinic studies to explain how these products work. That makes it possible for me, a layman and consumer, to understand what I’m purchasing and what it will do for me. I’ve been very interested in trying drunk elephant, and I have seen a lot of praise for the products, but I made a promise to myself to wait for your opinion on the brand. As per usual, you do not disappoint. I will give the Protini and B Hydra a try, as I am prone to extremely dry and dull skin. I will stick to Cera Ve for my cleansers, sunscreen, and lip products though. As for a skin oil, I’ll stay with my tried and true 10 dollar, cold pressed, organic Rosehip oil for added moisture and anti-inflammatory properties. My bank account and sensitive skin are forever grateful.

    Hi dr Dray. Thanks a lot for the review. I too was curious, there was so much hype (positive and negative) around this brand. Personally I am not going to try it because I think prices are a rip off. There are great products out there but cheaper. Also their annoying insisting on Suspicious 6 and the arrogance of the owner (saw an interview with her) put me off. Really appreciate the unbiased review from you. Trust it completely!

    • @annabaker4857
      @annabaker4857 6 лет назад +6

      Caroline Hirrons talks about that, especially the brand's habit of fending off complaints from customers experiencing irritation from their products by insisting that it MUST be a different product the customer is using that has the "suspicious 6" (eye roll); if the customer was using ONLY items without the suspicious 6, (i.e.: their products), they wouldn't be experiencing the reaction. This, of course, is stupid. Some of the "Suspicious 6" are usually non-irritating for many people (as Dr. has talked about in her videos on parabens, chem sunscreens). And many things that are NOT on their "Suspicious 6" list, but in THEIR products can be irritating to others.

I know my opinion doesn’t matter but although it is fine I don’t know if I would say it is life changing, and for the price it should be life changing IMO. One product I really hated of their’s is a day lotion called “exoderm” I believe. It is meant to exfoliate but I found it just sits on the surface and then rubs off in little peeling pieces. That is the only one I have a strong opinion about.

    Yay! Thank you so much for your review! Also, thank you for purchasing the items. When I asked for the review, I did not think about the “purchasing part of it” 😳so thank you for that as well. You surpassed my expectations through teaching me even more about ingredients. I consider myself a educated person that unfortunately has fallen for expensive hyped up skincare which is why I adore your channel! I can tell you keep true to yourself and your channel radiates truth, which is refreshing these days! Thanks again!

    The DE vitamin C serum actually worked really well for me. Within about 2 weeks I saw a lot of clearing/fading of my mild melasma on my face. they did slightly change the formula around the time this video was uploaded. I don't really use any of the other products, but the C Firma I love.

    Wow so informative about not using acids on the neck. I tried Vitamin C on my neck in my 20’s and got a rash that lasted for months.

    I love how informative and honest you are! I recently bought most of the drunk elephant products, but I would love to see a Paula’s choice review as I’ve been hearing good things about them!

    Thanks for this video, Dr. Dray. I’ve used Drunk Elephant for about 6 months now to help clear up my hyperpigmentation and it has worked WONDERS. Given all the information and knowledge you shared in this video, how do people (like me) see such amazing results from DE products? I know I’m not the only one that has found these products skin changing so I’m just curious. I value your opinion very much but see a discrepancy in your review of these products and my personal experience with them. Thank you!

    Great in-depth review. I personally can’t use these products R/T numerous food allergies. And I truly can’t afford it. I’ll stay the course with my affordable skin care because the most important point you make is consistent use. Thanks again!!

    Question~
    Is using 100% pure unrefined Shea butter as a moisturizer at night a good idea?

    • @skinsciencebymira

      GOSH ITS GABE she already basically answered this. You really want something that isn’t one note like shea but instead has humectants, emollients, and occlusives.

    How about older women, what ingredients should they look for? Which face cream would you suggest for shaggy skin?

    Have you done a review on the Mad Hippie skincare line?... I've been looking at it for a couple years but can't pull the trigger bc of cost & not wanting to waste money.

    I never knew fruit extracts count as fragrances which now makes sense why I always develop a pimple or two when I use the jelly cleanser! Thank you so much

    Are there any negative effects on the skin from not bathing for a long time? Ie. homeless people. (I’m a nurse and want to properly educate my patients!) and also thanks for this video, I really wanted to know about drunk elephant!

      I'm not a medical professional, but I work as a home health aide for elderly people. Off the top of my head- not bathing can lead to skin infections, genital infections, rashes, athlete's foot/jock itch, dandruff on the scalp and other scalp issues. And the smell can be horrendous, as I'm sure you know. That's the smell of bacteria eating your dead skin cells. (Sorry that this is so gross, but regular bathing is so important. Even once or twice a week can be so beneficial.)

      Katelyn Jacobi - oh yes I agree! But sorry I didn’t specify my question. I meant not including genitals and scalp, like is it ok to just not clean your leg or back or arms without harm? some homeless women may have wipes for use at their genitals but they can’t afford to use them on their whole body.

      @@hammypie yeah, rashes and yeast infections can happen anywhere on the body. Even just wiping or bathing once a week would help keep that at bay.
