To me, Ryobi's marketing and product development team deserves a lot of credit, I think they intentionally diversify their cordless line into A LOT of non-traditional tools like a hot glue gun, buffing wheel, soldering iron, etc, making their line much more relevant to the home-owner, thus more attractive. In a way, they decided to fight another battle, away from the big traditional tool brands. Frankly, its made me consider them much more seriously as a brand that I'd adopt as a home-owner.
100% agree with you. they know what they are doing. they don't want to compete with the big boys because they know that the homeowner/DIYer is their target audience which basically is me. if they keep this up and keep their prices in the same range, they will keep selling to that specific target audience.
I totally agree. One of the reasons I got into Ryobi because they have a tool for everything. I just wish DeWalt would diversify their line up like Ryobi and Milwaukee. I understand DeWalt is contractor grade, but Milwaukee has all kinds of tools that are useful for other stuff like a small shop blower, Cordless stainless steel shop vac (which is awesome from Ryobi), a small insulation stapler gun THAT DOESN'T USE THAT STUPID ANNOYING AIR PUMP! And I wish DeWalt would get into new tools and experiment.
They recently got me, when I discovered how many tools are available and started comparing prices. Team Ryobi for this homeowner. Milwaukee is attractive but let’s be honest: I don’t need a $300 nailer for occasional use.

I got the 6 HP tool set, as an upgrade for the set grom about 10 years ago. Very impressed with the improvements. I use them in a trailer manufacturing setting and they have served me very well over the last few months. It is rare that I have to change the 4 amp hour battery before the end of a 10 hour day, driving fasteners through steel, aluminium and plywood. Don't regret your decision. Ridgid makes fine tools. I have pretty much at least one different tool from all the major manufacturers. For example I have the Makita corded circular saw because it is still considered the best by many pro contractors, and I have both DeWalt and Bosch routers because they are innovators in that particular field. Most of my tools however are both by Ryobi and Ridgid. I love the Ridgid for the following reason: their tools have a Lifetime service agreement, as long as you make sure to register your tools. It is not that difficult, not only that but they are the only manufacturer who replaces their batteries for FREE, again, as long as you register them. I have everything from their multi tool to their circular saw, to their drill driver set and table saw. Excellent quality tools. I started working with Ryobi a couple years ago, I work for a General Contractor, as a carpenter. I have been asked by older guys what I've thought of Ryobi (most of them have been using Makita, Milwaukee, and Dewalt for years) and I always tell them I love them, but if you're getting it to use for work, don't waste your money on the 1.5 or 2 amp hour batteries, unless you're getting them for the radio or flashlight. The 4AH battery is great, but the 6 and higher are the best for work, and the drivers and drills will just eat those 2 amp hour batteries before you even go to lunch.
I started out with Ryobi 5yrs ago with the PB236 impact driver. It was decent for what I do as a handyman. I'm really glad they're stepping up their game with the new HP series. Great & fair review!
I moved to Ryobi +ONE for a variety of reasons. I have heavier corded equipment in my shop and I'm rarely on a remote site all day these days. I will occasionally fill in with a crew for the day or be out on an install though and still want/need solid cordless tools. I'm a little mixed on the chargers but have the 6 port, the 18/40 mix and several single ports, all have performed well. I've registered every tool and Ryobi has immediately addresses every problem (okay, so there's only been a couple of small issues but still...customer service is a biggie for me). I've got 2s, 4s, 6s and one 9 Ah battery. All are terrific. The 4s are my go to for most days and I've yet to be disappointed. I've used multiple incarnations of virtually every system and simply put, I appreciated Ryobi's approach to their battery system. They said they'd continue fleshing out the 18V and 40V lines...and they have upheld their promise as they've continued improving the line. I'm not driving or drilling all day, every day any longer BUT on the days I do, I've yet to be disappointed since switching over fully to +ONE a year and a half ago. I have several of their brushless tools as well and had been eyeing the hammer drill anyway so I've got this combo in my sights for sure.
my grandfather and i have been using the same Ryobi set for years. Just now getting my first HP tool, always been happy with Ryobi. Never really had any complaints other then their screw driver tips being weak or the saw needing just a little more oomph. Then again its only a 15 year old gen 1 set.
Thank you for this video. I was going to get the Makoto after your Makita videos but since I’m only DIY I think these pair is more than adequate. Thanks man you make the best tool videos!!

I just switched to all Ryobi!! As a contractor you cant beat the selection and it's so cool to have tools for the home to. They got tools that seriously are like beyond cool and SO convenient like a battery operated glue gun etc.
Just got a 9-tool kit and glad I did. Ryobi all the way for the fellas that aren’t trying compensate for something! I understand tradesman stepping to the dewalts and Milwaukees, but for tools that I may use once/twice a week, can’t beat em!
I'm not a Ryobi fan boy, though like 3/4 of my power tools *are* Ryobi lol (it's what I can afford at the moment) - but I gotta say, I've always been pretty impressed with their mid-top tier stuff. Hasn't let me done so far 👍
I just bought the 6pc set, I use Milwaukee at work but needed something to use at home, 350CAD for 6 tools and 2 batteries. Figured they're worth a shot
I’ve been using my ryobi hp as a handyman and now roofer full time for 2 years. Told myself I would upgrade as needed to Milwaukee and haven’t yet. Only thing I’ll say is. My hammer drill chuck annoys the crap out of me and loosens exactly like that frequently!!!
I’ve done lot’s of DIY stuff at home and helped my friends with a bathroom addition, a full 1 bedroom 1 bath addition, and another small 2 bedroom home remodel. Let my friends borrow them to build their kids playhouse. Dropped em. They’re still going strong. 1st green non-brushless set with the crappy flashlight My first 2 batteries are going out. But, other than that still going strong. Looking forward to adding some more tools.
@VCG Construction. Hey Vince. Do I remember correctly? Doesn't the Milwaukee GEN3 FUEL 1/4" impact driver with the collet issue has only one ball bearing for the detent? So even the Ryobi has no collet issue? Puts Milwaukee to shame. EDIT: Ask TTI / Ryobi about that drill chuck. Maybe yours is bad. My Ridgid 12V drill driver had the same problem. It would loosen with use and my bits fell out. Replaced it twice under LSA before they got it fixed right. And I was using bits under 1/2" and it doesn't have a hammer mode. Hope you and your family stay safe and well.
I got my first Ryobi kit almost 20 years ago because it was what I could afford thinking I'd change brands a year later. I'm STILL using Ryobi battery systems almost exclusively with a crazy collage of all the top brands in corded tools from Ridgid, Makita, Bosch, and a compact cordless kit from Milwaukee for cabinet work. The ONLY brand I refuse to buy is DeWalt!
Ryobi and Milwaukee are owned by the same parent company so I consider them like how blue point is so snap on. Kinda like an off brand but still great quality
@@gman3854 yes they own ridgid also I believe. But I'm sure they're operated and designed by different ppl, I can't say for sure but it would make sense being they have totally different designs. I just ordered the new ryobi pblid02 4-mode impact driver to do a review against milwaukee gen 3.

I got the ryobi hp compact drill driver! I drilled over 20 3/16 holes in aluminum sheet metal. And 8 2 1/2 hole saw hole in 18 Gage aluminum on the first charger of the battery!
I bought a Ryobi kit back in 2015 as a back up tour simply because they offered 350+ tolls you could get which was three or four times more than anybody else offered and the 2015. They were the newer green tools back then but we’re not considered contractor grade in my opinion because they fell far short since then other brands have offered almost as many tools that you can order online, and RYOBI has their game last three or four years with their newer offerings. I’m not sure why the truck keeps loosening because from what I understand they’re hiring tools have steel Jacobs chucks
i think alot of people don't realize that RYOBI, HART, AND MILWAUKEE are all made by the same parent company, TTI. Techtronic Industries Company Limited, an investment holding company, engages in the design, manufacture, and marketing of power tools, outdoor power equipment. It offers industrial power tools and products under the Milwaukee, AEG, RYOBI, HOMELITE, Empire, Imperial Blades, STILETTO, and HART brands.
I bought a Starter kit for restoring a boat like 2 years ago. I use the heck out of this $700 set and I still can't believe I'm using Ryobi because I was a Dewalt guy. But all the tools in the kit have surprised me and haven't let me down yet. Afraid to try "upgrade" because it would be hard to believe I could get more out of a tool.
I'm sure this has been covered, but Ryobi, Rigid (as AEG), and Milwaukee (as well as WalMart's Hart and a bunch of others) are all the same company / manufacturer (TTI). It's their Good, Better, Best lineups. So if they're increasing features / quality in one brand, I'd suspect the others will follow suit. So in a sense, they're really only competing with themselves here.
All of those brands may be owned by TTI, but as a Stock Market entity I believe. Just like Berkshire-Hathaway own Hundreds of companies. They still engineering things in their own house to compete with the competition using their individual ideas and technologies. Same thing with Volvo owning Mack, Freightliner, and Western Star Trucks.
Ryobi is the best tools I have ever used in my line of work and the only problem I have is keeping my batteries charged and stay charged I go through so many batteries because I use my tools everywhere I go Help from Sydney Australia
I honestly don’t understand rigid cause if done smartly you can get Milwaukee at rigid and ryobi power level can go toe toe with the lot of them and is cheaper and not the most expansive line of tools where ryobi and Milwaukee have very expansive lines
I got a feeling ridgid might have something in the works for a new line like maybe gen6x or something. I started with ridgid but now onto Milwaukee but that hammer drill was pretty impressive
I smoked a brand new ryobi drill priming the oil pump of a 5.9l amc. Still works but i let off as soon as white smoke poured out. Switched to my dewalt drill thats chopped in half with a ryobi base so it usedms the batterys i half, that smoked but its old af. Ended up using my m12 drill and ran it till the battery died. Did the job. Deffinetly better than 30 seconds and a smoke show
1st.I own a mix set of Ryobi (OLD SKOOL) Blue and some (NEW GEN) Green I've kept at home for small projects. 2nd.Rigid for jobs! Now I'm changing my tune! Some of my Rigid tools have FAILED ! Thank God for the repair / replace warranty. However I haven't had to discard any Ryobi equipment (Knock on wood) due to failure. Yes both have shared the same abuse! Ryobi has shown to be as durable if not better. Much lighter that Rigid. For future investments I am really looking at Ryobi.
You can order it online right now. I ordered the new SDS a couple weeks ago and it arrived fast. Not sure when HD will start stocking the new tools in store.
Vince I think that the higher speed and the hammer function caused the chuck to loosen up, I have a harbor freight hammer drill that does the same thing, just have to keep tightening it up sometimes
Your the MAN....... Ive bought several Ryobi HP tools this past year that just knocked it out of the park. I got the small cutoff saw and the saw all. Looks like this combo maybe on my wish list
"Your the MAN..." No, it is you're the Man, or you are the MAN. When writing, that which follows your belongs to the person you are writing to. Yes, your and you're sound the same, however writing them each has their own separate uses and meanings.
I think chuck is coming loose because it's not meant to grip SDS drill bit. Also I read that if you tend to use SDS drill bit, you need to make sure one of the tooth need to bite into the groove of SDS bit.
We had our own little ryobi vs craftsman ttr last week mixing 20 50lb bags of floor leveler in 5 gal buckets. The brand new craftsman brushless drill let out the magic smoke after only 2 bags. We switched to an old $40 brushed ryobi drill and it powered through the rest of the bags no problem even after it was completely soaked when the rinse bucket tips over half way through and dumped 2 gals of filthy water right on the ryobi.
Do a comparison of the old and new impact ryobi drills please! I wana see if the new one and old one has different more or less torque from the hp battery's with the extra ports vs without on the new ones
As a DIYer i was just waiting for a good ryobi deal but then when there was a free ryobi tool event there is also dewalt XR sale event at lowes. A $400CND dewalt XR combo was on sale for $229 which is the same price as a Ryobi combo. I ended up buying Dewalt.
I had a reciprocating saw that I tried to warranty. I had the receipt for it and I had registered it on their website when I purchased it. They still didn't warranty it. They will always be a light weight throw away tool.
Yo i use them every day the new brushless hammer drill is a beast i have had it for a while now and probably use every other day for about 5 or hr stright. Love it the only thing I have heard was my Pop said it feels a little heavy and it dose by comparison to some but the price point make up for it with me. I have almost every cordless tool they offer except the bolt cutters.
Gotta say, maybe they dont seem like the fastest drilling/driving things I ever seen, but the motors didn't seem phased, didn't sound like they were bogging down. Nice!
didn't know I could ever enjoy tool videos as much as I enjoy these! which contractor grade impact driver will anyone recommend with a great battery to go with it? (going to watch the other vids by VCG to learn more). thanks in advance!

Ok,Vince, as a total FNG, let me ask the stupid question as a non pro what is the difference between a drill and a hammer drill and why not just use a hammer drill all the time?
It has definitely improved over the set I got my sets about 10 years old so yes this is impressive. Question have you seen the new portable band saws Milwaukee and Makita I believe have these new portable battery operated band saws wonder if you've seen these or have you tried them or done a video
Hi I like your show I watch it often. I just picked up the three batt sale. The impact wrench that's advertised and shipped in the app is not the one you get if picked up in store. In store you get the P262 mid instead of the PBLIW01 hi. But I am very satisfied with it, it removed lug nuts tourqed to 150lbs with ease very suprised. Please keep up the good work.
The Chuck loosens up even on my Milwaukee Electric it has something to do with the vibrations who cares as long as it drills the fukitol great product man and you're a hell of a sponsor
As a ryobi user for the past 5 years, Ive been using the last gen hammer drill you showed at the beginning of your video for the past couple years. I like the drill and its very impressive, but as we also saw in your video, the chucks simply suck and do not hang onto the bits. I've lost several bits inside of walls from this. Other than that the drill is awesome. However I am deeply disappointed the new line doesn't have a magnet on the base of the drill anymore. Its actually the very reason I picked ryobi in the first place, and Im sad to see it go and will likely change brands next time I need a new drill. Ill just glue a magnet to it or something.
My Ryobi brushless hammer drill literally snapped in half at the trigger where the handle connects (old style p251) last weekend using it on my ice auger. Damn near broke my hand. Bought the Milwaukee 2997- 22 at the depot with the hack for $260. My p238 impact driver collet gets stuck occasionally but its not a bad driver.
Ryobi is Legit on a mission! I just recently saw they have a new mid torque 1/2" impact with 620ft/lbs and now these. Plus they're priced so aggressive, I got to say it might be time to stop buying Orange and Red and start trying out some Green. 🤷♂️

Thanks man you make the best tool videos!!
just got the drill and impact as my first ever power tools and they have not let me down
One month later update? They fail yet?
@@A_Based_Entity no they've been great been using them for woodwork and a little bit a of mechanic work been great the 3/8 impact obv cant take off lugs but apart from that great tools
That's the one thing I've noticed on my Ryobi drivers is the chuck's tend to come loose sometimes and I don't know why. Thanks for the honest review.
I like the grip feeling on the ryobi..
That was impressive. Won't give up my Dewalt though.
I'm a milwaukee guy but I'm now glad I recently got into the ryobi line also
Ryobi and Milwaukee are owned by the same parent company so I consider them like how blue point is so snap on.
Looks like ryobi stepping up there game the hammer drill and impact are both impressing me never though I would see ryobi speed through that spade bit @vcgconstruction
I use ryobi...
Have a 1/2 inch impact
1/4 impact
Brushless drill
One handed sds drill
Angle grinder
Mini vaccum
Orbital sander
Reciprocating saw
Although prices are getting closer to milwaukee prices the tools work well and last long.
I had dewalt, i switched to Ryobi, simple fact cost and quality ,gets the job done!! Wait until the tool boxes. They are steppin up their game.
If ryobi changed their color I would buy them
I'm sure this has been covered, but Ryobi, Rigid (as AEG), and Milwaukee (as well as WalMart's Hart and a bunch of others) are all the same company / manufacturer (TTI).
Wow at the hammer drill with the 1 inch concrete bit 😳 @vcgconstruction
“If you’re impressed smash the like button.”
Common Chaka I know you’re watching and you want to smash it.
Hey..either way ridgid, Milwaukee, and ryobi are all owned by the same company. 🤣
Deffinetly better than 30 seconds and a smoke show
I gotta agree Ryobi has “upped Z anti”!!! I like your enthusiasm! Great demonstration!
I worked for HD for a while. We started selling more ryobi to contractors due to the cost and the better quality batteries over ridgid.
Amazing. Couldn't advertise these better. Going to have to buy.
They definitely are upping their game for sure
I’m a Dewalt guy, but Milwaukee is making its way into the arsenal.
Mashed that Subscribed button awhile back! Absolutely love your reactions in this vid. Keep up the good work and thanks for what you do.
My boy reviewing the mean Green drilling machine
Vince, do you know when these show up in Home Depot? Still showing unavailable online
You can order it online right now. I ordered the new SDS a couple weeks ago and it arrived fast. Not sure when HD will start stocking the new tools in store.
Very impressive!! I think Ryobi makes a 6.5" circular saw, great tools!
The auto mode in reverse is so cool with the pulsing @vcgconstruction
Just picked up the hp compact impact and drill kit today at the depot. Gonna beat the heck out of them on the job today to see how they hold up
I think chuck is coming loose because it's not meant to grip SDS drill bit. Also I read that if you tend to use SDS drill bit, you need to make sure one of the tooth need to bite into the groove of SDS bit.
Here's a ttr the new ryobi vs the craftsman that would be awesome
No thanks
That's amazing. And I like the green VCG hat fam..
I had a reciprocating saw that I tried to warranty. I had the receipt for it and I had registered it on their website when I purchased it.
They still didn't warranty it. They will always be a light weight throw away tool.
I have been a Ryobi user since around 99 and I am loving their new lines they have been coming out with definitely!!
Nice!
I've been using Ryobi SDS+ for years! It's not a Hilti, but for sure, it works harder for the dollar!
didn't know I could ever enjoy tool videos as much as I enjoy these! which contractor grade impact driver will anyone recommend with a great battery to go with it? (going to watch the other vids by VCG to learn more). thanks in advance!
I remember probably 15 years ago my dad bought a Ryobi battery drill for $30 at Ace hardware. It lasted 2 uses and burned up. Lol. They’ve come a long way since then. And he was so mad. It was pretty funny. Lol
Ryobi isn’t a joke. They’re a contender now, no doubt.
I am going to get me some of that POWER Ryobi tools . . .
The Chuck loosens up even on my Milwaukee Electric it has something to do with the vibrations who cares as long as it drills the fukitol great product man and you're a hell of a sponsor
That new hammer drill looks quite badass seen they will be selling it as a tool only and that I will be purchasing. Good review as always.
They first got rid of the bubble level, now the magnet? Sheesh.
The bubble level would just crack or get beat up. But the magnet I like. All my used Ryobi stuff has it.
I'm love ryobi keep buying them non stop
Keep up the good work Vincent
Wow. That concrete drilling was insane!
I need to hang up curtain rods on drywall. Can this handle the job?
Electronic and tools! Wow. Won't be long before batteries have a numerical display of percentage remaining!
should i be looking at the one+ hp tools only? or also have compact one+ hp also?
I question the integrity of that crete , otherwise seems like decent tools. Get a 6 ah battery and ur set
