The name ain't too bad if you think about it as it is a pun on Iceberg and since Polar Bears are known for living on them its actually fitting to a degree.
You know, the Mutants line really begs the question of, why didn't Hasbro ever attempt any Beast Wars triple changers? It would have been hard to do but would have been pretty awesome!
There were a few go's at it. Transmetals and a number of other figures (i.e. B'Boom) have "third modes" to some degree, but the third mode is usually a somewhat loosely-defined vehicle mode or weapon mode.
I have and like the mutants. I view them as very nice a compliment to a large Beast Wars collection, and I thought Icebird was the best one. Two cool animal mode choices in a kind of stylized form. I frankily like everything about them (with the one note I like Icebird best).
5:01 PRAISE THE ALL MIGHTY BEAR FISH! On another note, great review as always, I really enjoy your style of reviews, short sweet, and doesn't sacrifice comedy.
Unfortunately one of the core rules to morphing in Animorphs was if you wanted to go from one animal to the next, you HAD to go through your original form (human for the main characters) first. Making the original intent of the toy line redundant from the start.
TJ, slight correction here, with the Animorphs line... unless it's a Red Tailed Hawk turning into anything, one animal to another doesn't make sense. Limitations of the morphing tech in animorphs means you have to return to your regular mode to morph again. Exception going to Tobias who got stuck as a hawk... and then regiven the power so his base form is the Hawk
I can see the mutants coming back in the form of something like maybe a failed experiment by soundwave or skorpinox with protoforms to create organic alternate modes for transformers.
It didn't mention that in fiction Icebird is the leader of the Mutants. Their background story is that they were once Fuzors, but we're mutated into this form by Megatron's transformation virus. I wonder what a bear/owl Fuzor looked like?
The head almost looks like it was originally supposed to be a wolf. Also, not a big deal, but it looks like the wings are supposed to go farther in and sit in those molded gaps.
in bear mode stand him up, spreadrhe wings and use therobot head, move the arms and there you go, a muscly robot mode with stubby legs, just like prime bulkhead
Nice review, TJ. I've always wanted to pick up one of the Mutants just out of curiosity, but I could never find any of them. Plus, I'm also one of the few dudes who actually LIKE the Animorph toys (I like cigarettes too, though, doesn't mean I think they're good), so this would be a nice curiosity piece to have. As for the next review, I'd recommend Sharkticon Megatron, if you have it. I only say that because my taste in Transformers toys is like my taste in music - I like really weird shit. I knew when they announced that toy I would punch a kid in the face if he tried to get the l'd have to get that thing the second I saw the prototype pics.
TJOmega Will you be doing a glyos 101 season 2 series? If so, I would suggest: -Onell Design-Neo-Granthans, Skeleden, building techniques, swing joints, etc. -MWOTR-A fantastic series of glyos and minifigures! -Transformers-because (TROLLFACE) -Toyfinity-A lot of new drops, colors, and, again, building options!
Nice one; this was the one random Beast Wars Mutant I picked up and seriously, the spring-loaded-whatevers made it a pain to transform. As for suggestions for the next random review... umm... how about an Energon five-figure combiner? Too much? Not enough?
Can you do a multi-changer? One with 3 or more modes! How about whatever one you own that has the best 3 modes... meaning 1 mode can't just be the robot bent over backwards and called a battle mode or the vehicle with a bunch more guns on it I mean 3 or more very distinct different forms!
Hey TJ, do you have either Que, Soundwave or Leadfoot from DOTM? Or the Movie Advanced Darkside Soundwave, Dino, Dispensor or accurate Jolt? Those would be interesting reviews!
it would be understandable that a animal turning into a different animal would make the line stale quick yet vein, god awful selling and parents seeing them as combined chopped liver salt and vinegar for that plus i saw some interesting things for icebird like having a red head originally and the metal detail under the mutant logo was red to also he probably was suppose to be Jake
Hey Tj, could you review one of the prime weaponizer toys? I got the prime not to long ago and I wanted to see your thoughts on the toys, if you have one at least
I've only owned two, they're rough toys but maybe not Addict bad. I'd need to have Razor Claw to see about him. As for Soundwave, he's 100% gold plastic, even if I had him he likely wouldn't survive the review.
This review is funny to me because I was thinking about the Mutants. I really want to get Poison Bite because he looks cool. What do you think about of him?
Can you review a Megatron? Even a third party Megatron is fine... You rewieved only Choro-q, Prime and one of the Titaniums. I would like to see a random review on a G1-related Megatron, like the new Apollyon if you have it, or something like that
Has anyone else given thought to kitbashing a toy of any of the mutant toys like this, showing what they would have looked like as a fuzor of their 2 beast modes (or just me)? My thoughts/suggestions would be: Icebird= Polarclaw/Silverbolt Poisonbite= Quickstrike/Airhammer Soundwave= bat Optimus/crocodile Megatron Razorclaw= Dinobot/Wolfang (or K9) Does anyone else thing there is potential in this?
culthosmythos I actually did some Digibashes a while back homaging the Mutants. used Beast Hunters Ripclaw for "Soundwave" Beast Hunters Laserback for "Razorclaw", Beast Hunters Grimwing for Icebird. and Energon Scorponok for Poison Bite.
Here's an interesting review/just a question: Do you have something that's too good to be on the Plastic Addict show, but still isn't liked by a lot of the transfan community?
An owl and a bear are basically the same shape! The same color, even! How did they bungle this so badly? What’s with that awful feather detailing that doesn’t look good anywhere?
George Doherty There's really nothing to review on that toy. It's a build a figure, no gimmick, no transformation, and no major articulation. It'd be a 3 minute review at best.
AoiKaze2000 You mean Broadside? the poor poor autobot who can transform into a aircraft carrier (and gets seasick) and a jet (and has a fear of heights)? Makes you wonder why he picked those modes....
They did with transquito
There was concept art for triple changers to happen. Cheetor and Dinobot were one of the characters to be considered but that never happened sadly.
There were a few go's at it. Transmetals and a number of other figures (i.e. B'Boom) have "third modes" to some degree, but the third mode is usually a somewhat loosely-defined vehicle mode or weapon mode.
An owl that transforms into a bear...
I suppose you could say it's an....
owlbear?
Wandering Bishop AHHHHH OH GOD!!!
DnD reference
I'd say it's a "B'owl"
@@meatblazestudios3778 heh
Animorphs. I always forget about those.

Yep that's what I was saying to myself.
Micah Hoffman actualy I think cassie was able to do so in one of the books
I was one of the people who suggested the mutants, so I was really happy when this showed up in my inbox. Thanks TJ!
Since transforming milatary jets are some of my favorites, Would you please review either generation 2 Dreadwing or smokescreen or both?
The mutants are quite something to look at, if nothing else.
You think about doing a power core on this series?
"it will tell you to wake the wind fish" xD love the LOZ refrence
Another great review TJ

I'm guessing something similar to Silverbolt's alt mode, only bulkier.
The head almost looks like it was originally supposed to be a wolf. Also, not a big deal, but it looks like the wings are supposed to go farther in and sit in those molded gaps.
Yeah. This Polar Bear is easily a different use of the Jake/Bear transformer toy I own.
TJ, you want it?
Here's an idea: how about a movieverse scout as review fodder?
in bear mode stand him up, spreadrhe wings and use therobot head, move the arms and there you go, a muscly robot mode with stubby legs, just like prime bulkhead
Btw, LOVED that Zelda reference there.
I love the mutants line and I wish they did more
I remember there was a toy like this that was a barracuda AND a scorpion.
Nice review, TJ. I've always wanted to pick up one of the Mutants just out of curiosity, but I could never find any of them. Hedwig? What's she doing with TJ Omega?
2:16 Link's Awakening reference *~* !!!

umm...
how about an Energon five-figure combiner? Too much? Not enough?
Did you do a Beast Wars or Beast Machines Silverbolt review before? If not, I recommend it.
Can you do a multi-changer? One with 3 or more modes! How about whatever one you own that has the best 3 modes... meaning 1 mode can't just be the robot bent over backwards and called a battle mode or the vehicle with a bunch more guns on it I mean 3 or more very distinct different forms!
It looks like you COULD fan mode a robot mode out of him but there are limitations that prevent it.
I’m pretty sure these mutants can transform into funny looking robots. Kinda like those in transformers revenge of the fallen.
Icebird can form the most humaniod one. Look up a review of it
Hey TJ, do you have either Que, Soundwave or Leadfoot from DOTM? Or the Movie Advanced Darkside Soundwave, Dino, Dispensor or accurate Jolt? Those would be interesting reviews!
For something tricky how about a decepticon construction vehicle that's not a constructicon.
it would be understandable that a animal turning into a different animal would make the line stale quick yet vein, god awful selling and parents seeing them as combined chopped liver salt and vinegar for that plus i saw some interesting things for icebird like having a red head originally and the metal detail under the mutant logo was red to also he probably was suppose to be Jake
considering polar bears live near icebergs the name icebird is not a bad one
You should review the strangest figure you have
Why do they claws look aweful in both modes?! I feel like a tiny amount of remolding and paint tweaking would help thing no end.
Awhile back you got a Star Wars Transformer of Darth Vader that turned into a Jedi Starfighter. Could you please review that?
Hey Tj, could you review one of the prime weaponizer toys? I got the prime not to long ago and I wanted to see your thoughts on the toys, if you have one at least
They had alot of potential to do tripple-changers here.
Can you please review your favorite Starscream?
could you do more beast wars reviews please?
Are any of the mutants "addict" worthy? I was just wondering since there are only 4 of them
I've only owned two, they're rough toys but maybe not Addict bad. I'd need to have Razor Claw to see about him. As for Soundwave, he's 100% gold plastic, even if I had him he likely wouldn't survive the review.
TJOmega ah ok
@@TJOmega makes you wish that Leatherhide got released
This review is funny to me because I was thinking about the Mutants. I really want to get Poison Bite because he looks cool. What do you think about of him?
TJ do you have any Dinozaurs figures? methinks those could make for some decent Review bait. some could even be Plastic Addict victims.
Off-topic question TJ, since we both have Complete selection belts, have you found that the lock secures the belt and keeps it on?
FirestreakRodimusPr Honestly haven't worn it long enough for that to be put to the test.
well I'm wearing my CS Kabuto to the con and I'm hoping it stays on.
FirestreakRodimusPr Duct tape is always the answer bro.
not if you don't want to leave marks on the belt.
Try looking into gaffer's tape? It's strong and I think it has a tendency to not leave marks.
ice bird's actually leader of the mutants who knew not me i never got this line
can I make a Suggestion for your next one, Choose your Favorite Dinosaur-Based Transformer from Any Line
cant remember if you have this one or not but an idea for random review could you do cybertron primus please tj?
The only Mutant Beast Wars figure that I owned was Razor Claw.
If you look at the owl face straight on, it looks like a really pissed koala instead...
They should have shortened his claws. The longass claws look bad in both modes.
Could you please review a Pretenders toy?
I too have Icebird and I love it!
Classics Bumblebee mold per chance?
Is it possible to get an action master?
Can you review more animorphs
Do you have Beast Wars Poison Bite?
Can you review a Megatron? Even a third party Megatron is fine... You rewieved only Choro-q, Prime and one of the Titaniums. I would like to see a random review on a G1-related Megatron, like the new Apollyon if you have it, or something like that
just came here after cinema sins harry potter, so my first thought was hedwig?
Could you review mega bolt megatron?
Could you review a toy (good or bad) with pouts manus?
One idea could be reviewing an obscure Japanese Transformer that we Americans may or may not have seen or heard of.
It'd be cool to ee a modern day owl-Transformer. Call him "Wingmark." ...Wing bookmark.
TJOmega Dude, if you own "Beast Wars" Rampage or Depthcharge review one of them. :D I owned those two as a kid.
They missed an opportunity with polarbird
Why don't call him Owlsquatch? Cooler name and you can trademark it.
One I really want. Had the other two
how about reviewing browning? The other gun transformer.
Blitzwings, all of the blitzwings.
apparently icebird was going to be Jake from Animorphs
Has anyone else given thought to kitbashing a toy of any of the mutant toys like this, showing what they would have looked like as a fuzor of their 2 beast modes (or just me)? My thoughts/suggestions would be:

can do buddy

This video needs more Ice Bird.
bad TV show reference
and by that I mean that it's a bad TV show
Can you do Polar Claw Please?
DarkSilverHedgehog If I had the toy, which unfortinately I don't
Keep Icebird away from any Titanicbots!
Icebird! Or as I call him, Beakbutt.
Maybe those tiger strips are the underpants its wearing. lol
hey tj for plastic addict why don't you review a bad combiner wars figure or are no combiner wars figures addict worthy
Hey TJ,Have you ever thought about doing a master grade gundam reveiw?
Why isn't this on plastic addict?
why not name it polar wing, that sounds so much better
Here's an interesting review/just a question: Do you have something that's too good to be on the Plastic Addict show, but still isn't liked by a lot of the transfan community?
The dreaded Potus Rostrum
An owl and a bear are basically the same shape! The same color, even! How did they bungle this so badly? What’s with that awful feather detailing that doesn’t look good anywhere?
How about WFC Accel to see the wars in the comments between Transformers and Kamen Rider fans?
Huh...so Blizzard put out a Boomkin transformer... =V
could you review transmutate
George Doherty There's really nothing to review on that toy. It's a build a figure, no gimmick, no transformation, and no major articulation. It'd be a 3 minute review at best.
***** That requires giving FunPub money. I would rather do the 3 minute review.
TJOmega what's FunPub?
TJ why don't you like FunPub
why not transmetal rattrap then
Icebird has a conspiracy theory.
ROTF Ejector or Ze Doktor (Scalpel)!!!
only word in my head thru the whole vid:
WHY?
Odd...
Can you review a Transformer who's alt mode is the absolute worst fit for their character?
AoiKaze2000
You mean Broadside? the poor poor autobot who can transform into a aircraft carrier (and gets seasick) and a jet (and has a fear of heights)? Makes you wonder why he picked those modes....
favorite energon figure...i wanna see this :P
You could review an obscure Japanese Transformer at some point.
Am I the only one who noticed the reference to links awakening?
could you please review your favourite figure from each show and please bring back tj tv I really want to see energon and cybertron reveiwed
Maybe beast machines inferno became mutation
Hedwig!
I think he is pretty good except for the miscolored and grotesque talons/front legs.
It's not a polar bear its a MURDER BEAR.
owlbear/cardog
