Cargorider and Veronica helped me get my bike out of customs several years ago. Veronica also got me a hotel close to their office where I stayed for several weeks while waiting for my bike to arrive. She was very helpful!
I'm glad to see everything went smoothly for you. Please guy's for your own safety, get the rear shock replaced asap. It's had a huge load to bare all this time and a lot of rough roads to handle thus far and has done a splendid job but the leakage definitely means it's had its day. I've seen the painful consequences that have occurred when a rear shock goes out completely. Take care.

I agree, I think it's not reasonable to wait until they reach USA. It can become dangerous at one point, especially with all the load and 2 people. The bike could be hard to control in some corners, I always fear for them, and I'm always waiting they find a solution when watching the episodes.
What happens when it collapses? You mean the spring breaking? I think we are only on the spring now because there is no oil in the shock anymore 😅 We are looking into the options but shocks are very expensive so repairing is our first priority
@LaviandOllie I don't think there is a risk the spring will break. Nevertheless, riding with this shock without oil can be dangerous with all the load, and you are two people. It can be difficult to control the bike in some conditions like a tight corner with bad road conditions you dont anticipate, and the bike can be bouncing and then could lead to the handle bar wobbling. It can happen so fast that you will nearly have no time to react. Imagine the consequences. Yes, it's not cheap, but it's a matter of safety, don't play with your life, it's not a bicycle. I have followed you for a while, and I'm really concerned about this issue. Tyres, shock, chain & sprockets, break pads, spark plugs are also consumables with different lasting life 😉. When you will do a big maintenance on your bike (maybe half way), think about changing the front fork oil and the brake fluid, ask also for a battery check, you rode in tropical countries and the batteries have short life under those climate. Here in Thailand where I live, the batteries don't last more than 2 years. Take care, guys and all the best.

You mention some but I'm sure there is more. It would be a good reference for whomever is thinking about doing something like this. Maybe a segment could be done comparing planning costs versus actual costs. Just an idea.

So good to see you guys riding this adventure - very inspirational. I did note in your video that when you backed the bike off the platform after be fork lifted into the warehouse, that the rear suspension continued to bounce. I think that leak you have had from your shock, most, if not all of the oil has escaped. The oil is what provides the dampening. No oil, and you basically have a po-go stick and it will wallow as you lean into the corners (like it did when you had the flat). Recommend you get it looked at, serviced with new oil and seals, or replaced. I think Suzuki should help you out here.

Check about the conditions to ride or drive through the Darian Gap, and you will understand. It is a very dangerous adventure not only due to the very bad roads but also by the encounters you could face (robbery etc)
