    This is by far the best packing guide and the best tips for what to bring on a motorcycle tour i've ever come across. All the stuff you actually need, multi-purpose/combined use, nothing unnecessary and all in a very small volume which could fit on literally any bike. Just all-around very well thought out, thanks for sharing!

    On my last big motorbike adventure I rode 24,000km in 98 days ,I had a lot of camping gear packed on the bike but as it turned out I only camped 12 nights ,on my next big trip the camping gear is staying home 👍

      Camping is awesome, and we do it all the time in Sweden. But on trips like this, it's awesome to find lodgings along the road and meet people. Pavlin(?) was tight :)

      same here. I did wild camping the first time now in the wester Alps, it was awesome. But on the Offroad Tracks i dumped my Camping Stuff and sent it back home. Then i really had fun being almost 8 KGs lighter.

    It was interesting to see what you would bring on a motorcycle trip in 2024. For a single person without camping gear I wouldn't consider 30 l luggage light. In 1978 on my first motorcycle trip with my girlfriend as passenger from Denmark to Southern France on a Suzuki GT550 we had our tent, mattresses and sleeping bags in a sailor's sack. Two 25 l panniers were used for other camping gear, stove, clothes, water, food, tools and two stroke oil. Maps, guidebooks and cameras were in the tank bag. It went very well and we continued to use the same recipe for some years - also when my back convinced me to get a motorcycle with a more upright riding position. We also had room to bring back some nice bottles of wine.

    Thanks for the video. Lots of good info.
    I am skeptical about two things.
    1 The merino wool base layer. I think it will be a lot hotter than a synthetic one.
    2. The packing west. I think it will get quite uncomfortable in hotter weather and you will probably wish you just had a tank bag to minimize weight on the body.
    But let me know how it goes, will follow your videos for sure.
    I would also recommend a mirrored / darkened visors for the hot riding days.
    I did a similar trip to yours but also visited Cyprus and kurdistan iraq, highly recommended since you are in the area. Anyways I look forward to the videos.

    • @NomadSweden
      @NomadSweden  2 года назад +1

      Thanks. The merino is proven to be cooling so i’m trying it for myself. I have a version made for hot weather.
      Packvest is a test. I will see how it works.
      I have a very dark visor. Klim Krios Pro has auto tinting so if no sun it is clear but in sun its black.

    • @d.Cog420
      @d.Cog420 Год назад +1

      Synthetic is hotter and it smells very quickly from body odour. Merino comes in different weights, you get the thick one for winter and thin one for summer. It is really good, doesn't make you sweat when hot and doesn't smell (everything smells after extended periods but Merino takes a longer time). In the really cold weather I think synthetics are a bit warmer but I still use merino for the smell factor. You can do a week without washing it. It isn't magical, just the best option we humans and sheep have come up with. I recommend you give it a go yourself. A bit more expensive but worth it IMO.

    Leave the polyester shirt at home Robert. It gets stinky in hot weather really quickly (like one hour). Take a silk shirt instead, it's smarter than Merino and just as odour resitant. Good to see you put a pre-filter on your snorkel! Look forward to seeing your Skydio footage 😀

    Great tips! Done only 2 weeks in norway with camping gear and it was pretty fine but then again we stayed on the roads.
    One thing to point out, if you truly need all of this gear and spare parts for the bike I would highly recommend a bigger first aid kit (looked like one of Lifesystems smaller ones). If you truly go to places where you will have hard time getting out or find mechanic, you probably are far away from any health central or hospital.
    Speaking as a paramedic (ambulanssjuksköterska), next video show a larger first aid kit😎
    Only time I have my own tourniquet is when riding a motorcycle for example😉 But even trivial thing like a bad stomach or a sprain can ruin a trip.

    • @FredrikMedevik
      @FredrikMedevik Год назад

      @@d.Cog420 I bring loperamide to take if my stomach decides to speed up so to say. That is when you already got diarrhea but doesn’t prevent it even though it makes it more manageable. To prevent it is usually harder depending on where you are. Food/water is usually the cause and as you sure know can be really bad. If you are more in the wilderness and taking water from a stream something to purify it like or/and boil it is a safe and cheap way.

      On that trip we all used the free level. I upgraded to Metal before we went to africa to get all the insurance for rentals, flights, medical etc. But free work good too

    nice video, and nice light packaging.
    i still dont understand how you plan to use the waterproof jacket if its warm.
    coming from someone who lives and rides in hot Greek weather, putting a waterproof jacked when its 40 degrees, you are guaranteed to have a heatstroke while riding.
    your mesh jacket is the best solution. you can also wet your buff and your tshirt every hour or so, and let them cool you through evaporation
    enjoy your adventure and stay safe ;)

      I havent tried it but if over 40 degrees people say to isolate the body from all air since body is cooler than outside. Thats the advice i have. Learning as we go

      @@NomadSweden the problem is that the sun will eventually overheat you, since there is no ventilation.
      true, at 40C you will constantly feel hot, but the evaporation of your sweat through a mesh jacket is the only way to keep your body temp regulated.
      as you said, you will figure it out along the way. just remember the "wet buff and t-shirt" trick. it really makes a difference ;)

    Thanks for yet another great video, Robert! 👍 Will you be lubing your chain along the way? 🙂

      Thanks! Yes, we bring a bottle between the bikes so it's not on my bike. But I don't lube often. Only if I need to clean it from mud etc or if it looks oxidated.

    Hi there. There is a bit of an unneeded complication here regarding your mentioned Revolut plan. You don't really need to convert any EUR to Turkish Liras, for example, because as you mentioned, there are practically no exchange fees with Revolut. So, there is no point in exchanging some larger chunk of money to Liras, only to pay from your Revolut Lira account, when you could be paying smaller amounts from your Revolut EUR account directly at the POS terminals.
    It comes down to this:
    You don't know how many Liras you'd need for the trip, so you will either have to do several conversions along the way, or you don't do any conversions, and you let Revolut (or any other bank whose card you have) do those conversions for you on the fly.
    There are so many other things that you have to worry about while traveling, exchanging money to a local currency (we're not talking about cash) shouldn't be one of them :)
    Plus, the legislation of some countries might not allow you to open a local currency Revolut account unless you can back it up with some paperwork (residence in a country - I think I saw that with the Romanian Leu).

    Why you don't use tubeless wheels?

    • @NomadSweden

      Good question :)
      1. The T7 does not come with TL so I just haven't changed.
      2. I have not had a flat in 63.000km.
      3. My tubeless friends have problems with leaking much more often.
      Cheers!
