2:50 That's the main problem with this f***ing asphalt run-off. Drivers just keep their foot down and think they can somehow drive around the wreck in front of them. This is what ultimately killed Hubert. It didn't happen in the old days with the gravel trap. Bring the gravel back, and they'll learn to use their brakes again. They may still hit something, but when they do, it'll be at safer speeds.

The big problem that these curves have is that if a car goes against the barriers, it is immediately returned to the track, I don't know if there is a slope or what, but it returns to the place where the other cars are coming and that to the side many lives, you have to redesign those protections so that they actually contain the cars

Drivers say collectively: "Spa Francorchamps is the best and most beautiful track in the world and Eau Rouge and Radillion the most beautiful, challenging corner in the Universe".
Those drivers want to go full throttle, even bets between drivers who is chicken to go not full throttle. So basically is the corner/track not the problem but the drivers. The want to go full speed and forget to release the gas pedal or even brake sometimes.

Grande Gilles
