Its a great workhorse for me. I have a $43.5K limit. There is plenty of room to spend and have a balance report. I pay off each month, but no need to care about statement cut dates for utilization. I easily rack up 150-200K points in organic spending a year. I am thinking about going Duo and adding the Savor one. Im very happy to renew it again.
🍅it's really easy to justify this card and 2x everywhere can help you fit it with other setups. I had one bad experience with the travel portal but it was also kind of my fault. No problems since that one time though.
🍅Venture X was my first new card in about 10 years. I plan to use it for travel, but so far, it's been dead simple to use. I just wish I didn't have to wait 6 months to get the SavorOne.
I only travel a couple times a year and my flights often go through Denver or Dallas so I’ve gone to the C1 lounge a couple of times in the past 6 months. I’m a simple guy and I really have enjoyed the food in there and have basically gotten 2 meals out of each of my lounge visits (one in person and one from the grab section on my way out). 😂
🍅 Loving the VX. Just used it to fly my wife and I business class on Air France for our honeymoon in August. Also used it to book a bunch of hotels with points. I'd love to see a long video on you thoughts about the Maldives. That's the next big trip I'm planning for the next 2-3 years with points. I'd love to hear your experiences and how you typically go there with points/miles
I travel to Brazil (GRU) at least 3 times every year. The international terminal is always crowded, so I usually go to a restaurant with the CSR membership. I still have the membership card from VX with me, specially when I am traveling with my family. My max was 6 guests at a priority pass lounge, all free.
The portal is a major issue right now. They price match but they pay the difference through the form of travel credit. If I constantly find cheaper deals, I would be stuck with their travel credits
🍅 Currently lounge hopping at IAD and just left the Capital One lounge... currently in Polaris. Cap One lounge at IAD is a great little lounge, has a much more chill vibe than Centurion lounges and feels very cozy. Venture X is a great keeper card, picked up the Savor One too and looking forward to running that setup. I only use Cap One points for biz class flights
🍅 I lean towards the CSR over the X since the airports I fly in/out of usually have more on the "experiences" (restaurants) side of things than lounges.
PP Restaurants are the 🐐. Literally zero downside, typically an awesome benefit to casually have on both departure AND arrival (>>>> centurions, for me). Will eventually have it via the Ritz Carlton, was very sad to see the Venture X lose it
🍅 I get the idea of the Venture X being a keeper card as it's a net negative 5 dollar cost card, but it also reduces your flexibility. Now I have to plan through the Capital One Portal to make that $5 I really feel like it's a battle between Chase & CapitalOne these days though. You either VentureX + Savor or you Chase Sapphire + Freedom Flex You have your 2x card for everyday purchases, And your Eating Out Card plus the weird quirk they add. If you prefer Ubers get CapitalOne if you prefer Lyft go Chase. I feel like I'm playing for both teams having a CFF and Savor One, but my 4 years is up for my Sapphire in May.... Should I bother going Venture X? If I don't then why keep my Savor?
Flying to Uzbekistan on Turkish with my wife and daughter for 52k one way in business. Was a total pain to book, but easy to find availability. It has to be the best deal in miles out there!
🍅 cant wait to apply and get this card as I already have the Savor One and would like to use the Cash Rewards Im building as transferable miles! waiting till utilization is lower and credit score is up where it needs to be! Thanks for the great video!
🍅 I picked up the X March 2023 and I like it a lot. I live in Denver (they’ve finally opened the lounge there) and I already have 200K points (after using other CCs for maximum points return) I picked it up mainly for the lounge. My family and I love to get to an airport early and grab a bite to eat at a lounge. And I like how easy it is to use. I don’t always have time to figure which is card will get me optimum points. With the X I know that, at least, I will be getting a pretty good return. C1’s travel portal is easy to use (note, when booking a flight through the portal, I’ve had some issues getting my FF#s and TSA # to go to the airlines. This was solved when I confirmed through C1’s portal) and I really appreciate the cost break-down so I know if I’m getting a good price on a ticket. I’m sticking with my Venture X.
I got the Venture X and have been happy with it. The travel portal isn’t great but it’s fine. Being able to convert the miles to a statement credit works well too. I gave my mom a card and Priority Pass, she loves it for her traveling experiences. I offered one to my friend but she declined because she didn’t think relaxing lounges with free food and drinks were all that special. 🤷♂️
@@ronjose51 no. I added a parent, capped the card’s credit limit to $200, and opened a Priority Pass account for them just so they could have lounge access for free.
I got approved today. I was denied before because I applied for the wrong card. So obviously you can get approved for multiple cards at once. Then I forgot all about it. But I’ve been using the portal and thought i was getting points but come to find out I wasn’t 😢😢 so hence why i remembered to reapply. I wasted so many points with a minor mistake.
I feel like it might be helpful for a lot of people if everyone were to stop calling it a "credit" and call it what it really is now - a $300 travel coupon.
I love the VX as a basic card for my P2. I have been going all out with AMEX lately but not everyone accepts them so I sometimes use my VX, but I have my P2 as an AU and have her use it for all misc expenses so we still rack up a ton of points while I chase other Sign up bonuses. Love the card! Getting at least 2x on all purchases is crazy good.
🍅 Love the VX. Even works for the mostly team cash-back crowd that wants to travel a bit. You can always redeem for at least 1 cent per point. Awesome lounges. Primary car rental insurance. 4 Free authorized users. I think the travel portal is fine, but I don't want to go through the steps to get a matching price if there's a cheaper option. Great video. I didn't use the calc, but I definitely get positive value.
@@Jiggy609 hi, yes, if you redeem for travel purchases, then it is one cent per point. If you transfer C1 miles to transfer partners, you can often redeem for essentially 2cpp or greater.
I went to the Lounge at IAD and DEN. IAD was busy but it make sense since I was traveling to Europe that day. For DEN, I took an early flight going back home for work and the lounge was amazing! Had such a great view where I was sitting.
I won't do capital one, because it has such weak transfer partners if you don't travel internationally. No delta, united,or American for flights and no marriot or Hilton for hotels(some of this you can get around with a transfer merry go rpund, but its to much hassle for a card thats charging me a fee). If they can strengthen this area, and continue building more lounges, id definitely consider it. It has better rewards points than something like the amex platinum, especially with the free authorized user, but what good is it if I don't live in the 3 cities with a lounge or fly foreign airlines?
Thank you for the quality content as always - would you recommend any catch-all card other than the Venture X for those miscellaneous spending? Please let me know if you already made a video covering that which I might have missed!!
I will definitely take advantage of the up to 4 authorized users at no extra charge perk. I would use it to give them access to the lounges only, but I would have the cards locked to making any purchases. I love my family but I don’t love them that much to give them the freedom to make any charges 😂
🍅 I like the Venture X, but I wish they had a bigger lounge network. Maybe partner with the Escape lounges? The only thing that's got me still eyeing the Amex Platinum although i have the Venture X is the Centurion lounges
I think it's a keeper beyond year 1 if you live near DEN, DFW or IAD. Otherwise, it's debatable. I don't think I would keep this card beyond year 1 if I didn't have access to one of the C1 lounges at my local airport, but I do so it makes a lot of sense for me
Idk man, when I fly transcon from San Diego, I love transiting through Denver or Dallas. Extra time on a layover? Sure. I despise most lounges (and others, like the Centurions, I think are only overrated), but the C1 lounges are good enough for me to pick a specific airport for connecting flights lol
Idk if its just me but the airport lounges seem overated, big lines for a buffet and area just as busy as the gate. You never really have time to use the lounge unless your getting there way early. I just show up an hour before my flight, get through tsa and board group 1 first, direct to somewhere with a ritz. Thats where the fun begins, but thats just me. I see people picking flights with layovers just to use lounges and that is just pure silliness to me.
Depends on what time you fly. Most people who experience super busy lounges all go during peak flight times. Lounges are usually pretty empty if you go during non-peak hours. But most people hate early bird and red eye flights.
I feel the same way! I can never figure out people showing up so early before a flight just to pack into a lounge that’s subpar with few options? I’d rather sit at the bar in a main area and people watch
Just transferred 30k points from Venture x business to Wyndham to book vacasa for big bear after hitting the SUB. Cash was $646. Not a bad value. First time doing it. Was going to transfer to BR to book J for the Canton fair but decided to get the Citi premier instead and just finished that SUB for the better transfer ratio.
Something to note, the $300 travel credit used to be a statement credit. This year in September it changed to only redeemable for travel booked through the primary account holders travel portal.
Not in my case. I'm not the primary user, my wife is for our Venture X account. But I manage the account. So when you find out multiple trips you booked (like I've always done in the past) aren't eligible for the credit because I was logged into my travel portal, it's not almost the same because there's no travel credit. And now we're within a few months of it expiring and already took all the trips we had planned this past year. Unfortunately, this update wasn't communicated by Capital One in any meaningful way. Can't find even one email where it was mentioned.@@ayman.ibrahim
I wish they had better transfer partners. I'm probably GOING CSR. If the transfer partners were a bit better (for my use) I would take the Capital One duo all day.
Capital One has horrible customer service. There are a few no annual fee cards that offer the same 2X. At least three no annual fee cards offer more than 2X.
🍅 new Vx cardholder after research and your very insightful videos!! First time I’ve ever hoped for a longer layover in Denver to try out their lounge 😂 My points and travel goal is to have me and my family fly First Class on our next family vacation in 2 years. We did it during Covid and now my husband won’t have it any other way 😂 I can’t blame him! United Polaris was great and we have long travel days from HNL to the east coast.
🍅 Hey Sebby, what search engine do you recommend to find first class availability for 2 people? I'm trying to get Singapore's suites or Emirates if possible. Though any nice first class in a long haul flight will do as it's my first time!
Recent experience with Capitalone "Partner" Lounges: In Japan Osaka Kassie Int'l, The major airline restricts PP card member access making it useless for morning travel. The only one that takes PP looks like a regular waiting area with better chairs Taipei: Terminal 1 lounge closes at 3:00 PM!!!! and food selection is faltering At Ontario, CA my home base, the lounge kicks PP members out because the airlines book the whole place even you are a member and on the same flight Felt like a total red-haired stepchild with PP. Also when you book flight, the card's agent books you at the very low end of the fee structure, so even picking the middle seat costs you extra. Called to upgrade to a higher class the booking price wasn't even shown so making the agent unable to upgrade me because she doesn't know how much to charge. Final kick in the nuts, I was abandoned by a cancelled flight in a Chinese airport and all my agent at the another end was "try to book a flight out of XXX and find your way back to civilization. " I was pissed beyond description. I don't expect this survive censorship because these VLOG usually got paid by the airlines. but that's the ugly facts about using Capitalone.
🍅I love the Venture X, I've had it for a few months and I have the Savor One as well. CapitalOne 1, 2 punch. Easy to use and gain value from set up. I think I will use it for domestic travel and save the international travel for my amex or chase cards since better transfer partners.
Love my Venture X card. Hate the user interface for payments. They don’t clearly tell you balance due on statement balance. Got me twice for in interest fees this year.
That's a great price for Japan! I am paying Hawaiian $1,600 for business Class on a Friday flight in October. Too bad I didn't have many points handy to explore other options. Savor is tempting, but I think I'm going to go Venture X + Amex Gold. As we start to do international travel, cashing out with Schwab is on par with having 🍅thrown at you.
🍅I have the Venture card and will likely upgrade to the Venture X card. I like the Amex ecosystem but it is virtually nonexistent for international traveling where the Venture card becomes the work horse. I burned one of my complementary visits to a Capitol One lounge at DFW. It was last Thursday evening and I had to wait about 10 minutes. The lounge was good and got the job done. I really just need lots of coffee ☕️ 😀
It took me 4 hours on the phone after Capital One Travel made a mistake on my flight booking. Even after they found the error and told me they made an error I was on the phone another 2 hours to simply get confirmed on a flight the next day. I love the lounge access but I'm done booking through Capital One travel. I'll book one flight a year to burn the 300+10,000 points but will be booking all my other flights and cars direct with Airlines and rental car agencies.
🍅 . Good video as always! If this was a chase or amex card this would 100% be seeing a nerf in the next year, but I wonder if it will be longer due to capital ones stance on sub prime lending and keeping churners out. They might not be eating as big an L as other lenders would.
So is this only a great card if you love lounges? Is it not really valuable if you pack your own food and don't care about lounges for traveling? Would the travel vouchers still be beneficial?
🍅 the Venture X is one of the best cards out there right now. Easy to justify annual fee, the sign up bonus, lounge access, and the 2x miles on every purchase is great
🍅 I just completed the SUB a couple months ago, haven’t done any redemptions yet, but did use the portal credit for a ~$300 flight, which happens to connect through Denver ;).
I’m on team cheap hotel or condo, and Capitol One gives me way more options than Chase UR or AMEX. And my 4 AUs really like me for the Priority Pass Memberships. Now I’m wondering if I can switch next year to the Business card and still get another SUB.
🍅 C1 rejected me for the VX the first month it came out and 12 months later. I have been over 800 FICO for 20+ years. I open a business card every other month and was at 3/24 personal both times.
What sucks a bit is thay they give you credit instead of statement credit with the price matching feature while booking through CO travel… If you do price matching every time you will always carry a credit unused… the prices seems always higher on CO travel Cheers
I personally did Savor first (got it last year), then got Venture X (earlier this month). But like Sebby said, if you have a trip coming up, do Venture X first because the points you'd get for a travel purchase is double the points on Venture X than it is on Savor.
Sebby! Do you think the Hilton Aspire will increase its welcome points offer after it's changes this Fall? The lower tier card's welcome offer is very similar
🍅 Hi Sebby great video as always. Question …is flying blue also a transfer partner for chase? For that matter do you know what credit card transfer partners work with more than one credit card program? Or do you have a video on that? 🍅
I wonder if one can upgrade and downgrade this card when needed. Like sign up for the Venture X when they need to takea flight and then downgrade to venture one the next year to avoid AF b/c they aren't planing to fly for a couple years. And then when they are ready to fly again upgrade the Venture One back up to the Venture X and take advantage of the credit then.
Worst credit card service. I got your card recently and as I was traveling today from Denver I thought to visit the lounge. I was denied entry. The door man said the lounge is at capacity. ???? I told him let me enter the grab and go. Do I at least have a bottle of water. He said no. I was treated like a POS customer. I ended going to the centurion lounge. This really opened my eyes and made me realize what a crappy tier 2 card the venture x card is. Stick to Amex and admiral.
The card is not worth it, for me at least. The portal is fine but prices are often higher than what you can find on the airlines websites. They offer a price match, which is great, but the match is in the form of a credit which is BS in my book. Going to downgrade before my renewal.
🍅 VX has become my catch all card and I try to use it for hotel bookings for the 10x miles and price match feature. I think the best miles redemption that you didn't mention was from Turkish Airlines. 90k miles round trip to Europe in business class!
So I only have the standard Venture Card, and maybe that's why, but my flight portal looks nothing like 6:50 (ex: no +/- 14 day option) and every single flight to Japan from my city is 1:1 dollars to points regardless of date. I've never had discounts to Japan in Cap1 flight portal...surely it can't just be a difference in price they offer because of the card type?
I see a lot BA flights on AA website. While the points don't seem bad at 57,500 for Biz Class but always a fee to BA of $750 ish...any options to get around the high fee?

Capital one couldn’t solve my venture X problem til 8 weeks went by and I said, I’m out.
Though any nice first class in a long haul flight will do as it's my first time!
www.asksebby.com/seatsaero Filter for 2 people
@@AskSebby Thanks Sebby! Any free alternatives? I'm kind of against memberships and 10 bucks a month is kinda expensive
Recent experience with Capitalone "Partner" Lounges:
In Japan Osaka Kassie Int'l, The major airline restricts PP card member access making it useless for morning travel. The only one that takes PP looks like a regular waiting area with better chairs
Taipei: Terminal 1 lounge closes at 3:00 PM!!!! and food selection is faltering
At Ontario, CA my home base, the lounge kicks PP members out because the airlines book the whole place even you are a member and on the same flight
Felt like a total red-haired stepchild with PP.
Is it not worth it to fly economy? Also are there domestic flight partners that make it worth it?
🍅 are you still a AMEX Platinum holder? Which Entertainment credits are you using?
Yes, that's a keeper in my wallet.
Love my Venture X card. Hate the user interface for payments. They don’t clearly tell you balance due on statement balance. Got me twice for in interest fees this year.
Ask Capital One to change your Venture X to a charge card. Then you wont have to worry about accidently carrying a balance.
Savor better due to worldwide acceptance as you start to do intl travel. And Savor is Mastercard and Venture X is Visa
@@TheUsflow I'll keep that in mind. IHG is a Mastercard, my general travel card, and backup dining.
🍅 great content as always, thanks for the info
Thanks for watching :)
🍅 solid video. Kirby is cool. I have been thinking of upgrading from the Venture to the Venture X. Not totally sold on the Capital One website.
PP lounge access in the US will be very limited. It might be zero access in many US airports.
It's better outside of the US.
🍅 . Good video as always! If this was a chase or amex card this would 100% be seeing a nerf in the next year, but I wonder if it will be longer due to capital ones stance on sub prime lending and keeping churners out. They might not be eating as big an L as other lenders would.
Heh, enjoy the benefits while they're still around. It's inevitable.
I just got approved for my VX card! I was debating between Amex platinum Sapphire reserve, and this.
🍅 I’ll be getting the venture x next year can’t wait, great breakdown video.
So is this only a great card if you love lounges? Is it not really valuable if you pack your own food and don't care about lounges for traveling? Would the travel vouchers still be beneficial?
It's valuable if you can use the $300 travel credit.
They recently changed $300 credit to $300 discount on a portal, so it's not good anymore. Not a keeper. Will try to downgrade to V1 or V.
The credit was for the portal purchases. It used to be statement credit. But now it is instant.
@@skariaroy5988 it's not a credit anymore, it's a discount.
@@skariaroy5988 Yes, but you can't cash it anymore.
🍅 As usual, the best card information on RUclips.
🍅 the Venture X is one of the best cards out there right now. Easy to justify annual fee, the sign up bonus, lounge access, and the 2x miles on every purchase is great
Sebby would you say this is a good starter travel credit card, with this being my first annual fee CC? It was either this or the CSP.
🍅 I just completed the SUB a couple months ago, haven’t done any redemptions yet, but did use the portal credit for a ~$300 flight, which happens to connect through Denver ;).
Nice!
🍅 Love my Venture X with Amex Gold Combo
I run the same combo. Covers just about everything.
What sucks a bit is thay they give you credit instead of statement credit with the price matching feature while booking through CO travel…
If you do price matching every time you will always carry a credit unused… the prices seems always higher on CO travel
Cheers
Should I start with Venture X or Saver One first since Capital One require 6 months in between applying for card?
Depends if you have upcoming travel you could use the Venture X perks.
I personally did Savor first (got it last year), then got Venture X (earlier this month). But like Sebby said, if you have a trip coming up, do Venture X first because the points you'd get for a travel purchase is double the points on Venture X than it is on Savor.
Thanks, I don’t have any travel in the next 6 months or so. I will get the savor one and venture X after 6/7 months
🍅 Love the VX, just redeemed my miles on 2 one way tickets from BOS to Barcelona in business class! ✈️
Nice!
Good card but I don’t like that the credits and best multipliers are tied to the C1 travel portal.
Does Venture X provide airport restaurant credit? Thanks for your videos! Very informative and detailed 👍
No, they removed it.
🍅 venture x 90k SUB sounds good. I like the card, might make it a player 2 next card
I referred my husband to this card but he was denied even with an 801 credit score and low credit utilization rate 😮
Great video, thanks for the info! 🍅
It is. I have the CSP and just recently transferred some points to KLM.
Would you recommend venture x to someone who likely wouldn't hit the SUB, but wants to start traveling more? At least once per year?
🍅 can’t wait I’m gardening for a couple more months then will be applying for this card
My wife and I just got married in Thailand and brought 20 people into the lounge at BKK! It was insane. Completely free❤
Congrats!!
now that's what i call value lol
Do AU get trip delay reimbursement?
Worst credit card service. I got your card recently and as I was traveling today from Denver I thought to visit the lounge. I was denied entry. The door man said the lounge is at capacity. ???? I told him let me enter the grab and go. Do I at least have a bottle of water. He said no. I was treated like a POS customer. I ended going to the centurion lounge. This really opened my eyes and made me realize what a crappy tier 2 card the venture x card is. Stick to Amex and admiral.
Is this card good for lowering the cost of plane tickets and also upgrading to first class?
The card is not worth it, for me at least. The portal is fine but prices are often higher than what you can find on the airlines websites. They offer a price match, which is great, but the match is in the form of a credit which is BS in my book. Going to downgrade before my renewal.
If I'm able to utilize the travel credit and all perks. Does it make sense to get it if I can't make the sign up bonus?
Great video. If I get a card for my daughter, will her purchase points go to me or her?
Do you know if the annual fee is waived for being active duty military like AMEX does?
🍅 VX has become my catch all card and I try to use it for hotel bookings for the 10x miles and price match feature. I think the best miles redemption that you didn't mention was from Turkish Airlines. 90k miles round trip to Europe in business class!
Hi, how are cruise trips calculated in terms of points?
What is the best use of the points if I only do domestic travel?
What app/site did you use to search the tokyo flight across different airlines at 7:08?
Do you still get the intro bonus if you’ve already had the original venture card?
What is the flight search tool used in the JFK to TYO example?
Hi Debby, which program did you use to look up the flights and their availability using points around the 7 minute mark?
Seats aero
So I only have the standard Venture Card, and maybe that's why, but my flight portal looks nothing like 6:50 (ex: no +/- 14 day option) and every single flight to Japan from my city is 1:1 dollars to points regardless of date. I've never had discounts to Japan in Cap1 flight portal...surely it can't just be a difference in price they offer because of the card type?
Love the venture x. It’s a keeper until further notice 🍅
Hi, is there a change in the venture x card?
Venture X has price match option for flights if you contact customer service right after the booking right?
I see a lot BA flights on AA website. While the points don't seem bad at 57,500 for Biz Class but always a fee to BA of $750 ish...any options to get around the high fee?
