I'm watching this and I am flabbergasted that this young-looking guy is such a genius. He's created some of the greatest works of art in modern music history. If he was alive back in the day, he would have been treated like royalty!

While showing us how he plays Time Flies, I still am confused as to why Steven thinks he goes up one fret with his pinky on that second part of the intro/verse. It's hard to argue with such a brilliant guy. It seems like he prefers that in the live version, but it's definitely not there in the recording. No biggie, just a really curious thing.

It is there in the recording. Try to listen to it really carefully. You can hear that note going up and then down

There are moments when the keyboard plays that note, but it's not found in the guitar part. Hey, it's really just a nit pick anyway. Steven's the shiz.

It is a nit pick. But I can hear it, on the guitar.
      Steven is siick

I give you 100% credit for sticking to your opinion. I saw your Iron Man video. I just have to say that was awesome. I am sure we are not from the same country (or the same decade - I am old! ha ha), but I just love seeing people from non-west countries rocking out. I love other places outside the U.S. Keep on rocking Vatsal!!

Thanks man. That was actually 5 years ago, hehe. I guess you'd be happy to know that I'm still rocking. I cant leave music, not in this life.
      Cheers!

I agree, I'm not a fan of their new stuff, and that's why I'm far more into Opeth and anything Steven Wilson does now. They continue to do what they want to, and their styles change accordingly, but it stays interesting and fresh. Didn't feel the same way with Dream Theater.

Why comparing? They´re both great. It´s a matter of opinion.

Oh my god, the first four Dream Theater albums at least had some atmosphere, in my opinion. The newest releases just sound like rehashed versions of their old ideas with more solos, faster playing, worse singing...

:o guitar plugins!!! hahaha interesting... this man surprise me every day: first, he is a vinyl purist and he hate the ipods for not be "a solid manifestation" of a record and now he didn´t care about using plugins (no "solid manifestation" of guitar amp sounds) hahahaha his mind is more complicated than I thought

tbh is think mikael is a much more talented singer. Porcupine tree is my fav band by far but you can't say that mikael is a bad singer ..

Bram Goemaere I disagree. He does have a larger vocal range though. Steven can’t growl.
